Khai Khai in Mendip

Ayer llevé a mi pareja a Khai khai por su cumpleaños y toda la experiencia me pareció corta de regalo. La comida era buena pero el servicio era terrible, teníamos hasta 4 camareros diferentes quitando platos de nuestra mesa pero ninguno de ellos, ni la encargada, se nos acercó una vez para preguntarnos cómo estaba todo, si necesitábamos algo más, más bebidas, postres, etc. .. Finalmente después de esperar siglos tuvimos que pedir la factura nosotros mismos. Completamente ignorado durante toda la noche, diciendo que no nos lo tomamos como algo personal porque fuimos testigos de un mal servicio también ofrecido a las mesas que nos rodean. Definitivamente no volveremos, hay un montón de restaurantes en Newcastle que garantiza una buena experiencia gastronómica de un cliente, este no es uno de ellos me temo!

Unfortunately, I was unlawfully denied entry with my Assistance Dog on Monday 17th of March at 7pm, which is a clear violation of the Equality Act 2010. This experience left me feeling discriminated against and deeply upset. As a disabled person, I already face significant daily challenges, and encountering such barriers to access only adds to them. Due to my disability, I was unable to effectively advocate for myself or educate the staff on the legal requirement to permit entry to individuals with assistance dogs. It is disappointing, as the venue appears to be a nice place. I will be raising this issue with management and reporting the incident to the Equality and Human Rights Commission. I will update this review if there is a satisfactory resolution.

Myself and a colleague visited on an evening, place was kind of busy and we were seated pretty quickly considering we’d not booked. There were a few empty tables which I asked if we could be seated at ( we were sat in the middle of the restaurant) but were ‘ oh that’s for three people’. When the people arrive they were a party of two which was annoying. That aside, service was good as was the food, place had a good atmosphere. Give it a go if you’re around the area

We visited based on recommendations & we’re really looking forward to our booking. The venue itself is very good with lovely decor, however, perhaps some light background music may help ambiance. Food wise, popadoms - don’t bother…it’s like a bag of walkers mini popadoms!! Mains, my wife had the mushroom & asparagus korma, the vegetables themselves were very good however the sauce itself was more of a bland cream sauce. Butter chicken had excellent very tender chicken, however the sauce itself was over spiced & pretty soupy, to coin other reviews terminology! All in all, felt rather underwhelmed & not sure it’s worth the price paid.

Four of us had the set meal at £42 each. Although our friends thought it was very good I was a little more circumspect about some of the food. It needs to be made more clear about what you are getting to eat which for the most part it wasn’t. Service was a bit too quick and the explanation of what we were getting was mumbled. Some of the main course sauces were not what you would expect from a curry as I understand it. But then this is not a normal curry house. It was Saturday night and seat turnover is clearly a priority. On reflection I would choose to have individual starter /main as I not sure the set meal was worth it.
