The poppadoms and mint sauce were delicious although it didn't come with any onions in a bag as is usual. The main was an expensive let down. Tough chicken that was leathery and tasted reheated as the meat was hard to chew. The Naan bread was nice although one was burnt. The sauce was nice but when you spent £30 for a main with no rice, you expect fresh meat. I've eaten Indian food on a regular basis and this was not the usual standard I'm used to. Unfortunately it ended up in the bin.

The takeaway food was inedible. Tough chicken with a texture like rubber. One naan bread was burnt. We order food on a regular basis but Saffron was a total let down. £30 was money down the bin with the food unfortunately so won't be going there again. Don't order a takeaway from Saffron - we complained but the customer service was disappointing where they refused to listen or acknowledge our opinion on the standard of their food. It was not fit for consumption!!

Water on table when u enter but charge £4.95 when u get bill no mention its not free! Plus ask if u want poppadoms bring them out with onion salad n dips and then charge for that at end no mention again its not free or if you require it, so expect £10 extra on your bill 😡😡 wont be using there again. Food isnt anything special either!! Right disappointment definitely wouldnt recommend these rip off merchants pp

I have to leave a review after 3 bad experiences here and will never eat here again . I have eaten here in the restaurant and had a takeaway. So the food is bland and not authentic at all . The onion bhajis were raw in the middle and the chicken was not cooked fresh in the sauce ,it was pre cooked chicken added to the sauce afterwards . I am a chef I know. You feel very rushed by the staff when eating in even though they are not busy. To top it off they tried to charge me for delivery when it clearly says free delivery over 20 pounds . So such a shame the only Indian in street has rubbish food rude staff and they want to try and steal from you . Never again . I will have to look elsewhere

We arrived at this restaurant, having booked a table. But on entering we saw there was one other couple in the whole place. The waiter was very rude, probably he was frustrated because the place was empty all night. Nobody else came in the restaurant. The waiter gave us menus including a drink menu. We asked for some beers. He proceeded to inform us that they didn’t sell alcohol. But said we could have a glass of wine. The four of us by now were completely confused 🫤. There was a bar with optics & beers behind the bar. The food was passable, but the bill was a bit over the top of £25 a head with a bottle of water.

Recently visited here while we were on holiday. 4 adults all love Indian food and all very pleased. The food was fresh, both appearance and taste were fabulous. 3 curries, 2 rice, 3 breads, poppadoms, pickle tray, onion bhajis , veg samosas and 3 soft drinks £72 which was great too and what we would expect to pay. Anyone looking for somewhere to eat I would highly recommend here, food was fabulous and the staff great. We will go back before we leave.

Had an hour free from the kids so popped in for dinner last Monday evening. Raj looked after us well and we had a relaxing meal, always had great service and good quality food here when we've been before or had takeaway.

Went for the all you can eat buffet on Sunday 26th May 2024 Very disappointed because I chose three dishes which are all supposed to be very different from each other, were literally made using the same base korma sauce The lemon butter chicken ( Traditionally Made with Tomatoes and usually red in colour) looked and tasted just like the korma sauce with clearly added melted butter on top and lemon juice! I wish I remembered to take photos ! The starter garlic mushrooms were in the same korma sauce with added garlic and tinned mushrooms not even fresh! And the chicken korma was exactly the same taste!, same sauce, same colour. Not to mention having to ask twice for the waiter to bring us drinks who made us wait 40min without coming to our table once! The waiter’s are incredible respectful and have lovely service manners but the manager clearly needs to work on his authenticity of his dishes and hire more staff on bank holiday weekend. All in we did enjoy the mushroom rice and naan bread I would order it again my family ordered the lemon butter chicken and lamb madras and all the kormas in addition to our starters of garlic mushrooms, but it was just too much korma when we wanted a variety buffet! Their meat samosas were delicious, chicken chat was very tasty. Also the word buffet is wrong choice of words because they bring you the plated food would have been more honest if they had said it was a set menu! If I had seen the food displayed on a buffet I would have been able see the korma sauce was used for many dishes as a base and avoided choosing them. I may go back and try their regular menu the bill for 6 came to 95£ so it was value for money!

We popped in on Sunday for a table for 2, and their 'buffet', which is a selection of dishes you can order fresh. I understand people complaining about food waste but worry not, the portions they give are small on the buffet and being fresh the food was delicious and so tasty! When we arrived there was no one else there, at just before 1pm, that was concerning but my worries were short lived! The service was incredible, friendly, not overbearing and I wasn't watched whilst eating which is something I hate. They introduced themselves, asked our names, made jokes with us and honestly we couldn't ask for more. The food as I said above was fresh, delicious and well worth the money. The presentation was perfect and honestly I wish I had more room in my stomach! I love my onion bhaji, and I always worry about grease, but these were crunchy, flavourful but not over powering which is just what I wanted. The lamb was tender, and with all dishes you can taste the marinade on the meat and the sauce, they balanced well and complimented each others flavour. We will be back, and I am already planning a girls day with friends and bringing them here.

The food was marvellous and the staff/service was exquisite. The manager (Raj) was polite, friendly and made us feel welcome. If you are ever in the area, I definitely recommend coming here.

The lamb in my curry was not if good quality and was quite expensive overall. The staff I found to be rude generally which I have experience on more than one occasion.

Ordered food and was over an hour late. Ordered a second time and same issue. First time blamed it on being busy, second time blamed the driver.

Just been for the Sunday all you can eat, great value for money, definitely couldn't have eaten another bite, probably the tastiest Indian I've ever eaten, there were ample vegetarian starters and sides and all the curries could be made made vegetarian on request (coming with a large variety of veg) The only down side is the serving process, it is not a buffet but order from a menu, with the expectation to order all desired dishes at once (not order a bit at a time till you're done) there is the very easy possibility to order too much or too little food, we opted to order a lot (the starters weren't massive but the mains were a healthy size) resulting in a fair amount of food waste (as someone that struggles with this it did somewhat tarnish the experience) Overall very tasty food, great value for money, would definitely go back again but would order less food :)

The food was very tasty and overall it was excellent value, however the “buffet” system was flawed and allowed for more food waste than necessary. You don’t “pick your own” food from a selection as per standard buffet, you order from a set menu. You can order as much as you want but can’t take any away with you at the end, so if you want to try a wider selection it creates a lot of unnecessary waste. I recommend the restaurant introduce a system whereby customers can pay a surcharge to take the leftovers home with them: either a flat fee or per weight. This will still encourage patrons not to order careless amounts of food whilst giving them a wider selection of choices as per the traditional buffet experience. It also allows the restaurant another avenue of income, whilst insuring the amount of food waste is minimised.

Had a great experience here and the food was really fresh as always. Raj was really accommodating and friendly too. Overall a great place to eat!!!!

Saffron in Street is a must visit, and Raj is the MVP! From the get-go, he made us feel like VIPs. The restaurant has a great authentic vibe and the smells were a sneak peek into the feast ahead. Raj talked us through the menu like a true pro and hooked us up with a killer meal for my daughter and I. The Garlic Chilli Chicken was next level. Big up to Raj for the top-notch service and making our dad/daughter night one to remember. Saffron, you're on our "must-visit-again" list! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Well there is nothing to say that is bad . The food is lovely,great taste and flavours. The flavours are the same if uou eat in or have a takeaway Nothing is to much trouble for the staff .

We drove up from Kent on a wet Monday and decided to stay overnight in street. Fancying an Indian meal we visited the saffron! One of the best Indian meals we have had anywhere. Raj, who served us couldn’t do enough to keep us happy. Visit this restaurant if you’re in the area and if you’re lucky enough to have raj serve you, you’ll get the same brilliant food and service we did. Genuinely some of the best food we’ve ever had. The rice is worthy of mention alone. Never had rice so soft, light and flavourful. 👍 Will be back in a few months when we pass through again. Thanks raj 5🌟

We went on a Sunday, when it is Buffet night. There is PLENTY of choice. We look forward to having the garlic mushrooms the way Saffron do them. You can have as many starters /mains as you like. This works out great for people with large appetites. However, my mum's appetite isn't huge and she can choose different starters / side dishes, which she enjoys. The staff are friendly, attentive and we have no problem returning.

My wife and I have visited this restaurant a few times now and rate it first class. Very tasty food. Excellent service. We will be back.

Really disappointed in this place. Came in tonight and there happened to be a “buffet” — which it was not at all, it was a set menu from which you could order and they would bring to your table. Though the restaurant was nearly empty (only one other table), I never saw the supposed “unlimited” aspect of this buffet applied. I ordered Mulligatawny soup, lemon chicken masala, Bombay Aloo, pilau rice and garlic naan (one item from each “category” on the set menu. The waiter asked if I wanted papadum. Stupidly, I assumed it came with the “unlimited buffet” — nope. When I got the bill, that was £5 extra. Food came out lukewarm and underwhelming. It was edible but not tasty, and nothing I would repeat. I finished the papadum and the soup, then ate abour 1/4 of everything else, maybe a little less naan than that. (Btw, that naan was not garlic, it didn’t even have butter — dry as a nun’s fanny. Anyway… I was no longer hungry and the food wasn’t inspiring added calories so I just finished. The waiter — who was sweet enough — came over and asked if I wanted the food to go (after a friendly chastising for not eating more). I didn’t really want to take it but I didn’t want to be rude (or see food go to waste) so I said “ok” He left to (I assume) box the leftovers up for me and grab the check. What happened next was unpleasant: another waiter came rushing over to my table to scold me “No, buffet food can not be taken home!” In this really hostile, accusatory voice that made it seem like I was trying to cheat the system somehow. “No problem, he offered so I said yes, but I don’t really care.” He didn’t know what to say, just gave me a dirty look and ran off. I paid. Buffet was £14.95 — but because of the papadum and a Coke, I paid £25 for the most underwhelming meal I’ve had in ages. Total waste of time, wouldn’t bother going back ever.

The food was very nice and the waiters were sincere. They recommended us great choices patiently.

We had an amazing meal here on saturday evening..all dishes were cooked to perfection and the staff were so friendly and helpful,nothing was to much trouble..Our 2 year old daughter was made really welcome by manager Forkan and Raj..looking forward to our next visit soon

1 Star is 1 too many! Had the worst ever restaurant experience in our lives!!! All staff were super rude,especially towards the end when we worked out what happened & complained & trying to explain why we where unhappy. When asking about the different dishes I was not able to understand the waiter clearly & just guessed. The starters we ordered where nice & tasty, although I never had a garlic mushroom starter looking like mushroom soup! Waiter was chucking the dishes infront of us, not adding enough cutlery to each different one & when we asked for more water the waiter stuck his fingers inside the glasses & returned with the same but refilled! How awful & disgusting is that? Our main dishes got mixed up with the table next to us but with no explanation of what dish is what we had no idea until we started to eat them. Which (luckily we don't have allergies or dietary needs) could have triggered an reaction! Not trusting to eat all the dishes which were put in front of us (they were super spicy & we ordered mild & medium spiced dishes) we complained and their attitude towards us turned unprofessional & nasty. WE worked out the orders got mixed up but there was no apology. Staff made out we had this planned as we didn't want to pay in the first place, waving their finger at us and calling us rude. Unable to eat what we were giving I suggested to pay half but manager was not happy with it & started being loud & making out we were the bad guys. It totally spoiled ours & the other couples experience and neither of us will ever return to this place. So be aware before you enter!

We visited Saffron at lunchtime and the food was delicious and the waiter Raj was very friendly.We had out 5 yr old with us and Raj made sure she felt welcome and gave her a lollipop after her meal. We cannot fault the food in anyway.It was one of the nicest Indian meals we have had. We look forward to visiting again.

Went for a friend’s birthday. Service was dreadful. Staff were rude and food was greasy. I ordered a coffee after the meal and the waiter complained about having to make it. When he bought it over - he refused to put it on the table (there was no space as they took ages to clear the table) and so he shouted at me before dumping it down in front of me. One of the guests didn’t receive her Nan bread and it wasn’t rectified. She was just accused of lying about receiving it. I had to give her half of mine. The food was really greasy and everything was caked in that orange oil.

Food was amazing, full of flavour and cooked just how we asked for it. Raj our waiter was extremely helpful with our menu choices and looked after us greatly. Best Indian food I have had, will be back in next time we are here for sure.

Visiting from Canada on a bicycle trip. We had a group of 9 hungry cyclist. Raj and the staff were wonderful and the food was delicious! Papadams we perfect start. Chef’s special, Masala chicken, and dinner for 2 at my table. All amazing. Onion Bhaji’s are my weakness and they exceeded expectations. Thanks Raj!

What a great find on our last night on holiday. We had rhe Sunday buffet and it's was really lovely. Raj, rhe waiter made my daughter (8) so welcome. She only eats bland food and he went out of his way to accommodate her. The food was outstanding and the staff were so friendly. Lovely last night treat.

We have eaten here several times and the food is lovely. But we won’t be going back to sit in the restaurant. On the last two visits the staff have left a lot to be desired. They aren’t rude, but they make you feel as if you should hurry up and leave. Maybe they think by asking you immediately you sit if you want poppadoms is the right thing to do, but I hadn’t even finished pulling my chair up. We went to enjoy our evening, they only had one other table occupied so they were not busy. Within 1 minute we were asked about drinks, I was reading the food menu and I was informed I was looking at the wrong menu - I can read and I knew exactly what I was looking at. We left. Our previous visit there was the same, we made it to the end of the meal but we were watched the whole time, the second it looked like we’d finished they cleared away. We just felt rushed and unwelcome, no chance to enjoy ourselves and this tainted the atmosphere. Such a shame, it could be be lovely.

Delicious food, extremely helpful staff, especially Raj that ensured my food wasn’t too spicy. Raj went above and beyond always with a welcoming smile. He also ensure my husband enjoyed his birthday meal with a treat of his special drink.

I asked for a recommendation from Raj and after asking about my likes in a curry he suggested Chef’s Special King Prawn - it was delightful - so tasty, spicy without being overpowering - really enjoyable. Absolutely delicious food - one of the best Indian meals I've had. It was a nice touch from Raj to have a little chat with me and ask my name as I was leaving as well. They clearly care about what they do - I can't recommend highly enough. Edit - I've just read some of the other reviews and seen the negative ones which I'm gobsmacked about. It's like I went to a completely different restaurant to those people. I consider myself quite a foodie too.

This was one of the best curries I've had and trust me I've had a few!!! We visited as a group of 12. The The waiter lacked personality if being honest and took the order like a primary school teacher asking you to put your hand up with what we all wanted.....a little bit serious and strict for my liking, but.... everything was spot on and correct so my first initial opinion changed when everyone's order was correct and the food was absolutely amazing so fair play. He started coming around near the end of the meal, if only he could have been a little bit more welcoming at the start, this review wouldn't have been as long, sorry. Highly recommend as the food was beautiful. Thank you.

Warm welcome by Raj on arrival. Drinks order taken quickly allowing time to study the menu. Food order presented very nicely and without a long wait. Raj and his colleague checked in with us and then left us to enjoy our meal. A nice evening.

Worst experience ever. My daughter wanted a last indian meal before getting dropped off to boarding school. Reading the good rating we decided to go for lunch. Arrived at 12pm when the place just opened. To find loud conversations in the kitchen and no one manning the restaurant. Upon screaming “hello” 4 times did a man appear from the kitchen. Extremely rude. Smelling of “gutka” and refusing to take our order properly. He was only interested in smelling alcohol to us ( a 12yr old and me) at 12pm. Anything we asked for was a “no”. The mirrors were stained and overall the restaurant looked dirty. We still decided to stay and ordered butter chicken and naan. The chicken was thinly sliced tandoori kebabs in a weird pale yellow gravy which was extremely sweet. Naan looked and tasted like stale bread. We took a bite and left, and paid 17 pounds for that meal. Awful! Don’t waste your money here. Rude staff. Filthy restaurant. Bad food.

Whilst the staff have always been really quite rude, the food has always been pretty adequate. Unfortunately at our last visit, one of the mains was completely different to every other time it has been ordered. Complaints were responded to with a mixture of rudeness, wall of silence or the staff talking amongst themselves. Unacceptable and won't be back. Avoid if you can

Can not fault the food, we went for in laws 40th wedding anniversary. Special occasion! We wanted the buffet menu as keen to try lots of dishes and try new foods. We were made to choose all our food at once, the menus were taken from us. The food was cooked to order NOT a buffet. Staff were friendly to start and then ignored us. 🙁 We won't be returning soon.

Rude staff and got lectured for 10 minutes how Indians that serve "tava" are fake and that tava isn't a real Indian dish. Got home to find curry akin to something you'd get in weatherspoons, fake would be a good word for it. Won't be back
