Living in Glastonbury we are between wells and street with lots of Indian restaurants to choose from we have tried them all with mixed reviews .. Indian Ocean as it’s now called is always the most reliable .. would highly recommend them … very authentic Indian food every time

Absolutely amazing meal last night. Great value for money as part of their Wednesday/Sunday offer. Service was excellent from the friendly and helpful team. We will be back!

Pleasant ambience and relaxing vibe , clearly a popular place. Very good food - in that the flavourings are subtle and each dish we ordered was distinctive. Interesting menu with the familiar classics and the chefs specials. Large car park , best place if you’re in the Wells area .

My husband and I booked a table for a Wednesday evening to have a taster of this new find and a good deal of their Wednesday banquet night for £14.95 each. First impressions on arriving was a bit worrying as the grounds are in much need of some tlc as is the decking area in front of the restuarant with outside seating. However, on entering we had a nice greeting and shown to a small table near the kitchen entrance. We asked as there was only 3 other tables occupied for a window table which they accommodated. We ordered drinks and the waiter took our food orders. The deal is a starter, main course, rice/nan and side dish. We were offered the choice of having a nan break instead of the side dish. We chose side dishes. All courses were very good. We have eaten at many Indian restaurants as we love curry and travelled through India trying all the different foods. It was really nice to find some curries that we had not tried. We will definitely be returning as only a 20 min drive from where we live and plenty of parking on site.

Enjoyable evening in beautifully appointed restaurant. Excellent food served hot by courteous, unobtrusive staff. Will certainly visit again.

Das Essen war wirklich sehr gut und dafür hätte man auch 5 Punkte vergeben können, aber der Service war zwar bemüht aber insgesamt doch sehr unbeholfen und wir mussten ziemlich lange auf das Essen warten. Zum Schluss haben wir mehrmals nach der Rechnung gefragt, wurden aber zu keinem Zeitpunkt darauf hingewiesen, dass am Tresen bezahlt wird. Deswegen haben wir noch einmal fast 20 Minuten unnötig gewartet.

Estábamos en Coxley en vacaciones y recomendó este lugar un conductor de taxi - Ir un miércoles por la £12 menú. Necesitamos pedir esta oferta ya no parece ser fácilmente anunciado.El personal era amable y había un joven camarero que fue particularmente ansioso por complacer y hacer una conversación. Esto no es lo que yo y mi marido como, preferimos estar solos, pero él estaba tan entusiasmado y ansioso que él mismo cautivado a nosotros y le deseamos lo mejor.La comida era precioso y no podía ser criticada fue atendida rápidamente y eficientemente. El £12 (ish) obtiene un entrante, un plato principal del menú habitual y un arroz o pan naan (teníamos una cada y compartido) - gran relación calidad-precio.Creo que el menú normal semana era un poco caro, pero viendo donde está ubicado el restaurante quizás es normal - nosotros Northeners se utilizan para una comida de tres platos, vino, 5 pintas, un paseo en bus de regreso a casa y aún tener cambio de fiver ;)recomendable.

Bien después de una experiencia muy satisfactoria primera con este establecimiento nos invitaron a volver por un amigo para probar su noche de miércoles de banquetes. Libre elección del menú a la carta, un plato principal, lado, arroz y pan. por £12,95 por persona. Pedimos unas bebidas y tuvimos nuestra comida. Cuando bill llegó fue más del doble de lo que esperaba. Los cargaron todos los artículos de comida por separado en el precio completo, también facturan por 3 bebidas no pedir o recibir. Como este es un miércoles noche especial Banquetes, no puede haber excusa para la cobrar de más. Esto claramente parece ser intencional y comportamiento deshonesto. Utilizamos para disfrutar de una comida para llevar en el río, pero se ha vuelto muy caro para calidad media. Esta noche teníamos Mantequilla Pollo y Pollo Tikka Masala, ambas muy pesado en la salsa con una cantidad de pollo claramente independientes en ambos casos. El pan Naan se han convertido en la mitad de tamaño que la cebolla bhajis fueron; están bien, pero la ensalada era simplemente una cuantas hojas de espinacas en vez de edad avanzada. Mejor relación calidad-precio y la calidad tan buena de Lidl y Tesco.

Muy amable y complaciente. La comida regular y sin duda no garanticen la escuadra libras 11 € por la red, aunque las porciones son grandes. Pero £12,00 por una cerveza y dos coca colas? Y luego, por razones que son demasiado complicadas, metieron un poco £2.15 en el menú para un pan que no habíamos pedido, pero no se hicieron disculpas de deducción. El último fue suficiente para agravar nuestra decisión de no visitar de nuevo - es caro y un poco descarado con la factura.

Ein nettes gemütliches Restaurant in Coxley. Die Karte ist sehr groß, leider etwas unübersichtlich, der Service manchmal etwas chaotisch, aber liebenswert.Wir haben uns auf die Empfehlungen der Kellner verlassen und das Essen war auch sehr gut und reichlich - vielleicht ein wenig teuer.

El camarero que nos cuidó fue muy atento y amable, participando a nuestros niños en la conversación un par de veces con su nombre. Este fue un buen toque, y no en todos estos días. La comida era de primera clase. Puedo recomendar el Shatkora curry (pollo tandoori en una salsa con el sabor de limas - delicioso!), así que me alegro de haber elegido este restaurante. La decoración y la música complementan la alta calidad de la comida que se sirve. Nos gusta nuestra comida india, y tienen altas expectativas. Nuestra comida en la orilla del río a la altura de ellos. Gran noche.

Fuimos con un grupo grande, pero aunque fue un desastre. Acabé con plato equivocado y así que otros. Además, no todas de la orden fue entregada y parte de lo que hicimos fue después de comida empezó. Tuvimos que tener comida recalentada y este no es de ninguna manera barato de la India. Evitar a toda costa con un grupo grande. Estoy seguro de que sería mejor con un grupo más pequeño - eso espero. El servicio era pobre ya que tomaba los pedidos y no podía recordar que había pedido el qué. Decepcionante (y caro). No te molestes en ir de nuevo.

Lovely atmosphere, great food and brilliant service. The menu was explained in detail so we knew exactly what we were ordering, there was a mix of diners (families, couples, groups of friends) and everybody seemed happy.

The riverside is a smart contemporary restaurant. The staff are similarly smartly dressed, friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is also pleasant. For me, they are doing almost everything right, but have to say that my family did not overly enjoy the actual food itself, which is surely the point. As such I will rate them as average.I am sure there would be other better dishes on the menu, but whilst what we ordered was pleasant enough, we were left without any sense of having really enjoyed it. A biriani and a fried rice were perhaps the worst dishes we ordered. The spice balance and flavour seemed OK, but after several mouthfuls the desire to finish the plate decreased rapidly. It just seemed a touch too rich for us, and whether or not that was due to oil, or ghee, I can not say. The dishes were certainly well presented and the food looked good. I am usually a great fan of Indian food, but given the cost of the meal, I have no plans to further explore the menu as this particular venue.

After booking a table for four this was a reunion of friends not seen for many years. They had said they would love to have an Indian meal, and we were not disappointed. Staff were very attentive especially the Maitre 'd' and whilst the main meals took a little while to appear, it showed that this was food cooked to order, not pre cooked and re heated. The food was excellent and the price was what we were excpecting to pay and modest for superb quality. Made our evening a very successful one and we will make this a regular event.

We received a £30 Christmas voucher, which we didn't realise had a 6 month expiry date. We telephoned and went in to speak to the manager to request that we could still use the voucher even though it was just 2 weeks out of date. Manager explained we couldn't use the voucher, however said he would still give us a good discount and look after our table (table of 5). Once we arrived we were quickly seated however moved to a different table almost immediately. Ordered a bottle of red wine to come with the main course. Our main course arrived with no red wine. We therefore asked for it again once all the food had arrived. Half way through the meals still no wine! One of our party felt he had to go up to the bar to ask for the wine yet again. It eventually came over with one glass?! Meaning we had to ask for more glasses which did come straight after. The food was lovely, absolutely no question about that! After puddings we asked for the bill, which came after a little wait again. We expected some form of discount as was discussed with the manager prior to our meal. There was no discount initially. We asked why we received no discount that was promised by the manager. He eventually said we could have the puddings free (£12)....??!! Considering the bill was £160+, we did not feel this was fair at all. Also taking into account we were told we could get a good discount before arriving. If we had known we were not having a discount we wouldn't have booked. Some staff didn't understand what we were ordering. (Especially the red wine!) Usually when a manager is confronted with a complaint, you would get the upmost respect, with them willing to help you out in anyway possible. However when we confronted this manager, he got extremely agitated and angry. Which made us equally agitated and angry!! When we left the restaurant, he kept his head down and no other members of staff said goodbye or saw us out the door. Very disappointing and expensive evening for the family. Will never be back, and will never ever recommend. Which is a shame, because as we said, the food is lovely.

We ate here Friday 20th. May. 4 adults and 2 young children. This was a special family birthday celebration. We arrived early 6pm. the restaurant was not busy, we were seated quickly but service was slow. Our server was polite. When the food arrived it was freshly cooked and hot. So what was the problem? Why only 1*? Why did we leave feeling cheated?As I was paying for the meal that night I had taken notice of costs as we ordered our food and drinks. When our bill arrived it was hand written and virtually illegible, I could read the item descriptions but not the costs, the only clear item was the total which was significantly higher than expected. I asked the manager to interpret the bill and explain the costs, which he did. The costs were roughly as I expected, so I asked him to check the total. He used a calculator and confirmed a total roughly what I expected, approximately £25 less than stated. He immediately said we had been charged for our drinks twice and apologized. The drinks total was less than the over charge. He seemed to know he'd been caught. I paid the bill reluctantly so as not to spoil the occasion but left feeling CHEATED! We may eat here again but will definitely watch them very closely.

Three times happy with service, food and price. Good selection of cuisine beautifully served. Waiters attentive but not pushy. Only slight grumble was the gardens could do with a weed!

We have always had an excellent meal here and the service was always very good, however, last night's visit was a disappointment. Just as the waiter was about to put our starters on the table, one of his colleagues whisked him away rather quickly back to the kitchen. They offered no apology or explanation and we had a long wait before they finally delivered the starters. Also a long wait for main course. As we were leaving we expressed our disappointment at the poor service. The guy behind the bar explained that they had had a lot of takeaway orders that evening and that it is difficult to ask takeaway customers to wait over an hour for their food!!

Great tasty food and great service.Been here a few times and my view this is the best indian in the area. Great presentation and tasty curries, fresh poppadoms,and good naan bread. Thank you!

My wife and l had dinner a couple of nights ago at this restaurant and although the food was good and service was attentive.. I notice a discord in the staff, when l came to pay the bill l wanted to show my appreciation to the staff personally and gave one waiter a tip in his hand. His reply, thank you sir, be we don't receive tips!,,I ask why, he told my the tips are withheld by the management! I spoke to a person in management and seemed to uncomfortable and none committal with my requests do avoided the subject...Doesn't this amount to stealing from the staff , who work so hard in making out evenings pleasurable . I would like to add..Last week l read in several national new papers there had been sun out cry about restaurants with holding tips from there staff. It is actually Against the LAW in this Country.. For tips and gratuities not to be shared out amongst the staff ..I will not dine at the restaurant until they change there policity ..

It was a great service and excellent food we was in this area for business purpose and after we went to the local restaurant riverside Indian fusion best curry house around we all enjoyed.

Met up with friends for an Indian in wells. Never been before, greater well nice place well decorated and good comfy furniture. Attentive service ,but more importantly fabulous food ,had a struggle picking from the menu. Had the chili and garlic lamb , brill.

We got a take away while staying in the area. Woudl go back - nice curry, good quality, reasonable cost, friendly staff. No complaints!

I'm surprised this place has so many positive reviews. It was anything but warm or inviting. The people were extremely snobbish and we were given the impression that they were doing us a service by waiting upon us! Typical behaviour that stems from a dislike for people who share the same skin color; clearly our breed is not on their desired guest list. Very disappointing. We're never going back again.

Have been here a couple of times now and have always had a lovely meal and we are always very well looked after.There is a great choice on the menu and the food is always hot and served really quickly. I would definitely recommend it and will be going there again.

The food here is very good and the service is excellent, you do however have to be aware of which dishes deliver on quality and value and which ones don't. The Biryani is the dish to avoid - their interpretation of what it should be is not very good; soggy rice, wrong spicing, completely wrong texture - Biryani should be a banqueting dish of the highest standard, worthy of a Mughal emperor. Other dishes are also hit and miss - some are excellent and as good as you can get anywhere, some are well below average. There are some very interesting dishes not seen on all 'Indian' menus.They also do takeaway - good portions.Service is excellent.Prices have increased over the last few years as they have become more 'gourmet' and won awards.Poppadoms and sauces are a rip off when doing take away (also, the sauces with poppadoms are not good). For a takeaway, 4 pops and micro-sauces is £5.50. Avoid.Not bad wine - their S.African wine is very good.

Had food from here on our last night of stay in wells, very close to where we stayed(potting shed cottages) and was very delicious. Recommended for people who love Indian, we had a takeaway but the sit down inside looked very welcoming!

probably one of the best indians ive ever had a nice quiet restaurant even though it was quite busy the staff was great and pleasent and service was quick . the restaurant was clean and nice and loads of room for parking. we will be coming back when we are around there again.

The food was of excellent quality and the portion size was very good. We hadn't booked a table but we were welcomed in to the busy restaurant. The menu was extensive and the waiter offered advice and guidance to help us choose dishes that would be suitable to our pallet. (not too hot!)

Went here for Christmas lunch and so glad we did. The food is oustanding and although they serve up regular Indian dishes they also have different dishes to try. It was all very well cooked and served, the staff are polite, friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended.

We passed this restaurant several times on our travels so decided to stop and try it one evening. I'm very glad we did as this is the best Indian food we've ever had.We've been back several times and the quality has always been outstanding and the staff are polite and friendly. They are happy to go out of their way to recommend different dishes and will adjust the heat/spices to any preference you may have.We have also visited with other family and friend who have been just as impressed as we are. So, if you're in the area, give it a try you won't be disappointed.Wednesday night is buffer night where you get a starter, main meal, side dish and rice or nan all for under £13.

We poped in for lunch at this very nicely positioned ( By side of river)& well appointed modern decor inside .The staff welcomed us inside, from blistering wind & rain . They were very helpful and advised us to order their Lunch deal, as the price ( £9.99 ph) included a good choice, so we did.The starters of chicken tandoori & chicke tikka was good. Our main course's of Talapia fish & Bhuba Lamb / Mutton were also ticking all the boxes of good Quality & Quanty. For the price you pay it is very very poor. The Biriani turned up on the trolley still in the microwave tub, it came with salad(consists of just iceberg) and it had a very weird curry sauce with very over soggy vegetables in it. The tikka chicken tasted good but will definitely give you sodium poisoning from the amount of salt. The last time I went was over 10 years, never again. The red light moment should of been the fact I have elderly family that live just up the road. They never order from there. I should of known.

This excellent Indian restaurant was quite close to our holiday rental. Four of us, including my 99-year-old mother, visited it one evening for a meal and thoroughly enjoyed the setting, the service and the food!Service was quick and efficient; on our final night on holiday we ordered a take-away and it was ready for collection when they said it would be - no hanging around! Well done to all the staff!

The food here is superb. Excellent veggie choices - and meat eaters are also well catered for. Everything tastes fresh, tangy and yummy. Great food coupled with excellent staff and service. What's not to like?

Came across this lovely Indian takeaway / restaurant just on the outskirts of Wells and what a treat we had. The food was up there with the nicest I'd ever had at an Indian restaurant. Came to the table steaming hot and full of flavour. The prices were average for this kind of establishment but we were lucky enough to have 2 for 1 through our Tastcard. Highly recommended

On arrival very friendly staff and seated immediately. The starter and main courses were excellent apart from the warmed up chips. This was pointed out and without any quibble they were struck from the bill and an apology.Excellent service recovery and would recommend.

We ate here as a family of six a few weeks ago, having not been here for several years. The menu offered a good selection of dishes and the service was relaxed and friendly. The food was good, but not amazing, hence only four stars rather than five. In particular the chicken tikka masala tasted quite bland in comparison to other Indian restaurants we've eaten at. That being said, everyone enjoyed their meal and we would be happy to return.

At the end of a long journey back from Cornwall we were so pleased to find this restaurant. My French friend had requested a proper curry-we were not dissappointed. We only wanted a take away but the welcome was great. As we sipped a glass of delicious wine on the lawn our meal was prepared - with a smile. Even our dog was welcome! The food was good-though some dishes had too much sauce. We particularly liked the Tarka Dahl, the Peshwarmi Nan and the rice. We will be back and hope the beautiful apple tree will still be there. Congratulations to the team-you are doing a great job.

Was a little disappointed after reading such great reviews. Our starters were overlooked so much so that they were quite hard. The salad on my main was soaking wet and there was too much of it. The curries were ok but I just think we expected more.

The food is always of a high standard in the restaurant and to take away.I love the jalfrezi and vindaloo from here, its not just heat, you taste the other ingredients as well as the chilly. The staff are friendly and attentive and I've never had a bad experience here. The only slight criticism is that the waiters tend to lurk a bit, its a bit of a running joke when we go there, we now time how long it takes for one of our plates to be taken. The current record from knife and fork hitting the plate, to a waiter taking it away is 7 seconds, but at least there keen..haha

What a nice surprise - so close to our hotel, this Indian Fusion restaurant had great food and a pleasant atmosphere. Wish the service was a little more friendly. Considering the number of people who were coming by for take-out, this must be a local favorite!

Sadly our visit was not a great experience. We waited over an hour for our starters to be served. The batter on the fish starter was so soggy and thick it could not be eaten. Three of the dishes we ordered all looked the same despite being described as totally different. Service was very slow

Went here with my husband, 12 year old daughter and 2 1/2 year old toddler. Welcoming staff, lovely setting, nicely set out restaurant. Food was amazing, I had prawn balti. My eldest daughters was even better, chicken tandoori off the bone. My husband loved his tandoori chicken deluxe. All reasonably priced. Recommended.

Visiting from there Midlands on a weekend break we researched this place through tripadvisor and chose here as it ranked highest for Indian restaurants in Wells. The restaurant is spacious and beautifully located. A great choice of items and good value for money. The service was fast and most importantly the food was fresh and delicious. Would highly recommend if in the area.

We live locally and not eaten here for a very long time. The grapevine says that the Riverside is really good now, so we gave it a try and were not disappointed. The menu is extensive, but well explained. The food was delicious and staff were very pleasant.

It took a hour for our starters to arrive I had Tilapia starter in batter which was tasteless and the batter was soggy. The main courses were ok. Overall dissapointing and slow.

We had an indian meal for two at the restaurant and were lucky they were able to seat us, although we had not booked. The staff were very helpful, and the food was well presented. However, compared to other indian meals we have had, we feel this one did not 'pack the punch'. It was not bad, far from it, but unfortunately it was forgettable. Sorry.

We'd heard that the Riverside was much improved, so we thought we'd try it - what a surprise !A lovely restaurant, a warm courteous welcome, excellent attentive service, an extensive menu offering some wonderful fusion dishes - the food was delicious and by far the best Indian in the mid-Somerset area, and not overly expensive !Recommended.

Het restauarnt is modern en strak ingericht. De bediening vriendelijk en gastvrij.We zijn geen grote kenners van Indiaas eten en het fusion gedeelte is ons waarschijnlijk ontgaan, maar het eten was heel erg goed. Niet te heet, maar absoluut goed gekruid en redelijke porties geserveerd op rechauds. De verschillende soorten rijst waren prima en de knoflook naan onovertroffen.Daarnaast een ruime parkeerplaats. Dit restaurant is echt een aanrader!

This restaurant was just outside of Glastonbury and a convenient place for our family to meet. We introduced Grandma to Indian food and she loved it too, lots of food options and spice options. Feed a party of 11 ages 4 - 83 with no issues. Most enjoyable and a beautifully presented restaurant, attentive staff.

Stopped in quite recently on a Friday night for a meal with my partner. The service was excellent and we were not kept waiting. Good was brilliant, spicy enough if you wanted it and of course not if you didn't. It was packed with flavour and portion size that was spot on. Some Indian restaurants I have been too the food is a bit greasy but not here, all in all it was a fab meal at a sensible price.

Visited here for an anniversary meal, the restaurant is very well presented and the staff very welcoming, polite and attentive. The food was served was excellent both in appearance and flavour. Living near Birmingham I've visited many superb Indians but Riverside didn't disappoint at all.

This is a real find on the road between Glastonbury and Wells and well worth the stop. Delicious food, excellent service and great value for money.

Visited Riverside with my Girlfriend on Saturday evening , Easy too find , Nice big car park, Spacious restaurant with air con, Interesting menu ,Staff were very friendly and very attentive, Slightly more expensive than most we visit but worth the little extra Decided to rise to the challenge and have .. Gurkahs Revenge, A challenge it was ! , I managed to finish it but it was tough going, I think it was the second hottest curry I have ever had On a more sensible note my partner said her Patia was lovely , we shall both be returning soon and I shall be having something a little less hot

A very good Indian restaurant - we had a delicious and very enjoyable meal here. Everything was very well done and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

I have eaten here a few times, with my husband, with family, with friends. Each time the food has been really nice. I like the fact you can also have something abit different to the usual balti or rogan josh if you feel abit more adventurous! Always tasty and i always look forward to the next time! The portion size is just right, you feel full, but not uncomfortable.The staff are attentive without being pushy.The restaurant and toilets are always clean. Very nice surroundingsThe bar area modern.*The only downside is last night we did have to wait a longer time than normal for our food to come out but it was very busy

I've lived in Wells 11 years and, unbelievably, have never tried this restaurant! The food is cooked to perfection, the place is spotless, the staff are really friendly. They even have ales!Let's be honest, there are usually certain negative aspects to the average Indian restaurant that well all grudgingly accept but the Riverside can easily compete with the best restaurants in the area. Will certainly be back.

This was my our first experience of the Riverside Indian Fusion and all in all it was OK. Clean pleasant surrounding and very attentive and welcoming staff.The food was well presented and came to the table hot and was overall had good flavours. My only negativity would be that both of our main courses had far too much sauce, a third of that served would have been ample - had the food been served in bowls for us to dish ourselves would have overcome the issue of too much sauce.We will return.

Words can't describe how good this place is, The staff treat you like a King & The Food is Just AMAZING. 5 Stars isn't enough it's definitely a 10 star restaurant

We discovered this great Indian restaurant a few years ago. After that we hosted a party of about 100 people there. More recently, we visited there for dinner and had a fabulous experience. The food was very tasty, less oily, good serve size and above all at very reasonable price. The owner and staff were friendly and efficient. The restaurant is clean and can easily accommodate 125 people.

After reading the reviews on this trip adviser we decided to book a table for two whilst stating at a camp site near Wells... Not sure if the negative reviews on here are that accurate... Maybe they got the wrong restaurant because from the very minute we entered the doors of this plush Restaurant the welcome was first class, we were shown to our table for two that was set very well finished with a pure white napkin and the cleanest menus I've seen in ages. Our order for drinks taken and a number of popadoms with onion salad and mint sauce... Very nice.. Some effort had gone into the varied menu we were stuck for choice..But we eventually decided, and we were not disappointed when our mains arrived ... A very good experience and excellent quality food and service was received ... Will we return? I'd say so..

We had a weekend away staying near Wells. The Riverside exceeded all expectations. Great staff, good service, the food served, hot and tasty, naan breads and rice superb. I'm a foody and hard to please, well done the Riverside.

This restaurant was recommended by the staff at the camp site we were staying at, and it didn't disappoint. Attentive staff, comfortable dining area and most importantly excellent tasty food. We would definitely eat here again if we were in the area. Please ignore the negative reviews from those that didn't even eat at this restaurant and go and see for yourself, we're sure you won't be disappointed!

After a busy Saturday we decided to have an Indian takeaway. As regular customers I phoned the order through at 8.10pm and was told it would be half an hour. My husband drove the 2 miles to collect it twenty five minutes later expecting to wait five to ten minutes for the order. Four other customers arrived after my husband, placed their takeaway order and all four had their order before ours. An hour later my husband left the Indian with our food. When we plated it up it was cold! Luckily a quick blip in the microwave bought it back to life but nevertheless the customer service was disappointing along with with the lengthy wait and no apology.

Je suis allé dans ce restaurant pendant un séjour en Angleterre à Wells, et j'ai vraiment apprécié le repas. J'ai eu la chance de goûter à beaucoup de plats de la carte, c'est très varié et bien cuisiné. Mes amis anglais on l'habitude d'aller dans ce restaurant qu'ils appellent "le curry".

We were recommended this restaurant by the owners of the guest house where we were staying. The Riverside doesn't look too grand from the outside but was certainly clean and pleasant inside. Service was polite and efficient. Neither of the main courses we chose were particularly distinctive but were good to eat. One thing that some diners might find rather odd is that the main courses are presented straight onto the plate and not served in a separate dish from which you help yourself, as is usual in most Indian restaurants. But overall a pleasant experience.

First time we have tryed them had a vindaloo and a garlic tika masala was very nice indeed, the interior looks very posh so will be returning to have a table, very resonable priced menu 10 out of 10 riverside.

My partner and I booked a table here having read the reviews but I was very disappointed. I had chicken biryani and it had no flavour at all, and the chicken was chopped into very tiny pieces which I thought a bit odd. The accompanying vegetable curry was equally bland. I admit I don't like hot curry but that doesn't mean I don't like a bit of flavour! To be fair, they did exchange it for the same again with the explanation that the chef had forgotten to put the biryani seasoning in the first one! The second was marginally better but still nothing like other curries I've had. Even the pickles that came with the poppadums were tasteless.Having said all that, my partner enjoyed his meal so maybe it's just me!

Fantastic food at this restaurant, which was a recommendation from our campsite. Large selection of dishes, even for a vegetarian, with excellent service. The staff couldn't have been more attentive and the whole meal, including a bottle of wine and 2½ pints of beer was less than £25 per head. Will definitely go again when we're next in the area.

I read 3 reviews for this place on tripadvisor all rated terrible. Turns out they were written by a group of people who hadn't even eaten there!! Perhaps if they had not been so uptight when arriving too early they'd have had a fantastic meal like we did. Service was polite and freindly although a little slow between courses, but the food was great and worth the wait.My 7 year old son had tiger prawn puri and was very excited by the enormous tiger prawn that arrived. He ate the lot and loved the mini puri's that came with it.The Bengal Handi was really good and came with fried onion & garlic on the top. Just as good as the Bengal special in my local.My wife had Bollywood Shank and this was really tasty aswell with lots of chickem & Lamb.Great restaurant and food would definately come back if we're in the area.

This is the second time I have eaten here and again I was not disappointed. We had quite a large party and the service was excellent, speedy without being rushed, and completely inintrusive. It is also brilliant value for money, we had 2 courses, poppadums, and large amounts of side orders, all cooked to perfection.

We called into the Riverside for a meal last night on our way home from a shopping trip to Street. We often do this as we know we will get a really good meal. The restaurant had only just opened when we arrived so we were first in. The temperature in the restaurant was quite cool, they must have been waiting for the crowds to turn up and warm the place through!There have been a number of changes since we last ate here, new management to start with. But even so, the food was still first class. There is plenty of choice on the menu and being a Wednesday, there was a special deal which made quite a saving.The staff are very friendly, polite and efficient. Definitely one to keep on our favourites list.

Booked a table for 8 people tonight and wasn't disappointed.The restaurant was bright and airy, the staff attentive without being intrusive.The food was excellent, several in our party said it was the best indian meal they had tasted.The food was fresh, tasty and well presented.Would definitely go again.We had starters and main courses, numerous poppadoms and pickles, several bottles of wine and beers, worked out at around £30 a head.Cant comment on the outdoor seating as it was a cold february night, but if its available in the summer months would happily go.

Have been several times and can say without a doubt ,the best Indian restaurant in Somerset, lovely staff and great food.

Came here on a Saturday night with friends Very amateurish and not quite professional.The service was too slow I will say the only compliment for this place would be the plating of the food however looks can not speak quality.The food was not up to the marks, tasted very bland and too much food colouring made me put off the dish.Overall experience 3/10I will think twice before coming here again....

came to this restaurant, with my family, i had a chicken madras, which is the best i have had in a long time, the food was so fresh , and the waiter and barman were very friendly. I write honest reviews, so please do not listen to the last three reviews, its very sad people like this that let your business go down, will be returning very soon for another enjoyable evening.

As part of a party of nine people who booked the restaurant for noon on Staurday 10th January, I am astonished at the rudeness on arrival. Having arrived at 11.45 to be told that the doors were not open until 12 and when challenged that their notice said 'open at 11' to be told it is a printing error was not a good start. Then to be told that we couldnt come in because it would mean they would have to wash the floor again was unbeleivable. We took our custom to another restaurant a a mile or two away and were made most welcome and had an excellent meal. Riverside is very lucky to bein a position to turn away 9 covers. What I find particularly sad as a regular visitor to India is the rudeness. Indians are renowned for their polite and generous spirit and hospitality. The Riverside was no example of this. I can only rate this as poor, we had no opportunity to eat!

It seems this restaurant has two review sites, but I was in the party with Bridget K. How can they afford to turn away 9 reservations on a Saturday lunchtime? Answer is - they can't. I drove past after we all dined a little further along the road, and there was one car in the car park. We were 10 minute early for our reservation. Not unheard of, but we were not allowed in, and whoever it was who leaned out of the window, asked my wife is she was trying to break the door down,so we took our business elsewhere.Bridget was the youngest in our party, the rest of us are in our 60s and 70s. Geriatric hooligans all, but that's beekeepers for you.

We had a table booked, for 9 people, at 12 noon. We had all arrived by 11.55, but weren't allowed in, as we would dirty the floor and they would have to clean it again. Staff are rude and unhelpful. All this was said through the window. The opening times displayed on the wall said it is open from11-2, but apparently that is a typing error. We went elsewhere, and won't be booking Riverside again.

9 of us turned up at 11.50 am for a 12 noon reservation and were told that if we were let in they would have to wash the floors again??? The sign on the outside of the restaurant clearly states that they are open fom 11.00 am. Apparently that is a printing error. It is a signwritten notice.When my wifevtried the door, vthe proprietor opened a window and asked if she was trying to break the door down. I have to tell you that the youngest of our group is 64 years old, so we are not exactly teenage thugs.I cvan't tell you the quality of the food, because we weren't allowed to sample it.Can any restaurant really affordto turn away 9 covers on a Saturday lunctime. Weended up going to a restaurant just down the road, but decided to have a look on our way back, after the meal. There were two cars in the car park and one of those was therewhen we left at midday.

The restaurant is much more 'no frills' now. No table-cloths and no flowers on the table. Having said that, the restaurant was warm, which was very welcome, and the modern fusion 'Indian' music was entertaining.The onion bhaji starter was tasty and quite spicy! The presentation of the starters was pretty average.. not as good as it used to be... just a load of iceberg lettuce on the side of the samosas and the onion bhaji.My lamb balti, main, was tasty and good. My husband's chicken chilli main was very spicy (as described). The waiters were helpful and courteous.Wednesday night is the 'meal deal' night; you get a starter and a main course with a side dish and naan bread or rice for £12.95, at the moment. Our only problem was that we couldn't finish it all!I think they close at 10pm as we were courteously given our bill soon after 10pm...
