Royal Spice in Craven

On holiday in Settle and met a local couple who recommended Royal Spice so we went. Very average and not nearly as good as the other Indian Restaurant in Settle. Food was OK . Too few prawns in my curry. Bland rice and the serving staff gave the impression that you were just another number and can we(the staff) go home ASAP. Not licensed, so take you own.

Excellent food. We came in early. They are very very kind. Good service. Ambiance is so so. We ordered two curries, mixed tikka and rice, naan’s (peshwari and garlic) and a chapati. Started off with pickles and poppadoms. Later on we ordered a large jug of mango lassi. Very tasty. Price was below 60 pounds! Take note it is bring your own alcohol. They provide glasses and the supermarket is just across the small street. We had a great Indian experience here!

Nice hot and spicy food served on time and in good portions. Staff friendly, not too expensive. Would go back if in area again.

Great food and service. The menu offered a good range- but not so many dishes to overwhelm. The waiter knew the dishes well and was able to advise and adapt to help meet our needs. The chicken hundi was superb. Will certainly return when we are in settle again. Thank you. Highly recommend.

Informal and friendly restaurant in the heart of Settle. Owner was very flexible in fitting in our party of 5 very hungry people without a booking. We specially liked the Mango Lassi. Very reasonable prices. Bring your own alcohol - there is a shop just across the road.

We were staying in Settle so gave Settle Spice a go - so glad we did. The team were so friendly and welcoming, the food was really good. The vegetable thali was excellent and my family enjoyed the royal tandoori, chicken tikka and chicken handi. Thank you for a fab evening!

We eat here every time we visit settle and always have a great meal , can highly recommend, it’s now bring your own drink too .

We had a second meal from Royale Spice, York. On both occasions the service has been fantastic and the food delicious! It’s so good to have a quality curry restaurant close by. We’ve eaten in once and picked up a meal on the other occasion. All the dishes we tried were lovely and the staff friendly. We’ll worth a visit.

We’re staying locally and had an excellent meal, highly recommend the Thali and Lamb Handi especially. A lovely dining experience and we’ll be back when we’re next in the area

Worst Indian Ever Ordered a takeaway but so disappointed. The poppadoms tasted old in old oil. The prawn purees we ordered were missing so had to go back for them and wish we hadn't bothered. Mains, bland and sweet. Absoutley shocking

My husband and myself decided to visit this restaurant, we have passed many times while walking through Settle. What a lovely place was a delightful meal my husband and myself really enjoyed our currys. The potion size was perfect. We both had a mango mocktail and this was delicious. There was a steady stream of people coming in to order takeaway. The staff were lovely and helpful with curry choice. We will definitely go again.

Our first visit here (for a take-out) while staying at Orcaber Caravan site, Austwick. Really excellent meal. The lamb was really tender and fat-free, always an indicator of the standard of a restaurant in my book. The Royal Thali was delicious, as was the Lamb Handi. I actually ordered Chicken Handi, but it was so good, I can't complain. The welcome was lacking. At least give us a smile and look glad to have a customer. The menu offered free poppadoms or Onion Bhajis with orders over £10, but they were absent. So, not perfect, but a really enjoyable meal and we would return.

We decided to try here after fancying an indian takeaway and reading good reviews on here. All I can say is I was hugely disappointed and horrified at how much money had been wasted on the most shockingly small portion that ever probably exists in a takeaway meal. £8.95 for a few pieces of chicken that were swimming in an OCEAN of orange coloured thin sauce. I've tasted better chicken tikka massala's in a £1 ready meal from the supermarket! The only good thing about the dish was the chicken was marinated in some lovely tasty tikka marinade but no way on this earth was my meal worth the price it cost. The sauce filled my large plate because there was so much of it. It was like pouring a large mug of orange coloured liquid on to your plate. Hardly any taste to it and as you can imagine, I was very disappointed. I thought the sauce would have a thick consistency like you see of similar dishes on google images. There were no onions or anything like that in the dish, just the chicken and this orange liquid. I'd say it was worth £2.95 max so don't waste your money on this dish!The chips were nice and my partner ordered a different chicken curry which he really enjoyed although I don't know how they could justify the £8.95 charge for that either. For that price, you'd think you'd at least get some rice or chips or something with it. We ordered extras - chips and naan's and chapatti's. All of these were very nice but again overpriced. We tried there again and tried something different this time. I had a chicken omelette and chips that was advertised as coming with salad but they hadn't put the salad in. The chips had been reheated but the omelette - wow - that was one of the best omelettes I have ever tried! On both occasions we had ordered from them, the menu had said you receive a complimentary onion bhaji or poppadom with every order over £10 but none of our orders received any of this, despite spending well over £10 each time so can't understand why they advertise stuff they don't do. Would we go back? Absolutely not! I can't get that chicken in orange liquid for almost £9 out of my head!

Yet again another beautiful meal had at the Royal Spice. The staff are so helpful and because I do not like too chilli hot food they will adapt to your taste which is wonderful. Many thanks Mizzan for your knowledgeable advice and professionalism.

We've lived here for ten years but never had a takeaway from Royal Spice but after being recommended we decided to try it. Wow, we loved it all. The bhaji were delicious and fresh, the chicken chaat yummy and our lemon curry was amazing. I rarely see it on a menu but I always get it if I can. This was excellent and we'll be having it again next week. It's a small place so we prefer to get a takeaway rather than eat in.

We were staying in a cottage nearby and decided to have a takeaway. We ordered for a certain time and it was ready as per. The curries we ordered were lovely and the Nan was really good. Sometimes you get this bread and it is a little rubbery but not this one. Next time we are in Settle another curry will be on our list. Settle is a small place but has a lot going on. A railway station which can to you to Carlisle or down to Skipton. Also has a good bus service. The driver of the bus I went on must have been local as he knew a lot of the passengers and made sure they got off at the right stop. You find a lot of walkers go here and there is a nice walk to Giggleswick if you like a stroll.

Didn’t get to the restaurant. Called to ask if they deliver, one of the rudest experiences of my life! The guy asked where I was to which I replied in a small cottage half a mile away the response was “why don’t you pick it up then” whilst laughing to his colleagues. Would never visit!

Went here as a last resort (places we wanted to visit were booked up). They don’t serve alcohol (so go prepared as you can bring a bottle’! Staff very friendly & attentive. For £26 for x2 starters & mains it was well worth it! Very generous portions - if we had known the size of the bag his we would have ordered 1 starter too share. However they were lovel & crispy which we both prefer. For mains I had a chicken makhani & hubby a dish recommended by waiter which was excellent (we shared).Again we could have had one main between us - although the rice portion was just right (1 between us). If in area & we fancied a curry we would go again. Note the dish hubby had we have never heard of before & on enquiring were told it was chef’s own creation - SO GOOD on him!

We called in for a meal and was nicely directed to the coop for alcohol due to them not being licensed, this we will remember for next time, as we will definitely go again. The starter were lovely - we had tandoori mixed kebab and chicken pakoras. Mint sauce was lovely. We asked for a break between courses and they gave us a nice wait so enjoy our wine. The main courses when arrived were also tasty . We have a favourite restaurant where we live and this matches. Place nicely decorated and a comfy place to eat - will be back

Although the food wasn’t awful, my dish lacked flavour. It was more the way things were served and presented that was bizarre! The drinks glasses were 2012 Olympic glasses and the pickle & dips tray was huge with dessert spoons plonked in it. It was like visiting a student. Worst Indian takeaway I have ever had. Tikka butter chicken. Absolutely awful. Had better from ASDA The taste was just wrong. Not even chicken tikka in the dish. Looked like something out of a nappy. Really can’t tell you how bad it was.

Visited this curry house, whose staff are based in Bradford and are keen to get home at the end of the day - so don't arrive too late. The meals were served on time and most of our party of 5 had a starter without a problem. I must say the lime pickle with the popadoms was favourably different. The only disappointment, from a personal viewpoint, was the chef's special that was unusually sour and had an unexpectedly mixed texture of firm meat like chicken and grainy like mince.

We decided to eat here the night before our Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge. As we were not aware we were a bit surprised when after sitting us down the waiter mentioned they did not have a license to sell booze. But after a quick discussion we rushed back to our digs just round the corner to get hands on the box of beer we had brought up with us.

Lovely food at great prices,although this is a non licensed establishment, staff inform you of this as soon as you enter and are allowed to take your own alcohol, no corkage fee. Would highly recommend if visiting the area.

Very friendly restaurant in lovely old building, very nice setting. The music was set at a good level and was a very pleasing mix. The food was only mediocre at best, lacking in salt and not very flavoursome, disappointing as we had looked forward to it since a search some days ago.

On holiday and had a 6 person takeaway from here. Food was ready for collection very quickly. The food itself was fantastic, all the currys were perfect with tender meat and lots of flavour. The rices and starters and breads were delicious too. They even gave us complimentary poppadoms and a naan too which was very nice of them. Without a doubt one of the nicest currys we've had the luck to try!

The food was ready on time for collection and it was very tasty. The Royal Thali compromised of three curries. The lamb and the chicken were tender and the king prawns were big and juicy. The biryani was also very tasty. Will definitely try again when staying in the area.

Conveniently situated at the top of the Market Square in Settle, this Indian restaurant serves delicious food: well worth a visit.

Visited this restaurant on Sunday with my son and a friend and found the overall experience to be a very good one. They were quiet as it was early evening however the staff were very pleasant , the food was very tasty and prepared to a high standard and would have no hesitation in revisiting when next in the Area.

I travel far and wide for authentic Indian food, this is in my top 2, my roots were planted in West Yorkshire and have now matured in South Yorkshire i can tell you i wish i was back north, this reminds me of authentic Indian food.

Did the set menu for 2 people £29. Superb quality with loads to eat. All the amazing dishes were presented beautifully. Nice setting & A place I would highly recommended. Co op next door if u require alcohol. 1 star dropped for asking me if my meal was ok when I had a mouth full of food. Pet hate

We have been going to the Royal Spice for 12 years and they never fail to serve up great tasting food. Good choice available too, so we never get bored and Mizan is always happy to make a suggestion for something different. It gets busy later in the week and weekends, so booking is advised. Great option too for takeaway if you don’t want to eat in. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Think I had the tastiest Curry ever last night at, The Royal SpIce Indian Restaurant in Settle, Cooked especially for me by Mizan as always excellent friendly service and amazing food not to be missed.

As always, food was great and completely fresh, tasty and lots of food on offer. Even though you can bring your own alcohol they still offer a selection of soft drinks.

They are advertised for the opening hours of 5pm till 11pm on the weekend. My friends and I called at 22:09 and they did not answer! We thought the phone may bot be working so we walked down to have a look and it was shut! This is false advertisement and we are not happy!

Service was very quick and the food was top quality. We had the Royal Tandoori and sylhet curry. Both were fabulous. The onion bhaji were huge black and very tasty. The samosas were smaller but full of flavour. The salad accompaniments were fresh and crisp. Could not fault the food or service.

After arriving at the restaurant at 9 o'clock to order a takeaway we were given the impression that we we're inconvenience to the staff , the staff member took our order quite abruptly and rudely Told us not to be late when it was ready . We picked up our order and taken it home , I have eaten there several times and the order we made was not up to the quality that we have had previously, and to add to the experience we found a foreign object in my curry , my advise to you would be if you want to close early maybe you should let you customer no that you are unable to take the order .

We had just had a lovely afternoon walking up Ingleborough. On the way home we stopped in Settle and looked online for nearest curry house. Up popped Royal Spice. We had just parked the car 2 minutes away. It was 6.30 pm and people were just starting to fill the tables. The staff were lovely. The food was excellent. My husband and I both had lamb dishes. The lamb was deliciously tender. My Handi dish was very tasty and I would definitely have that again. No license but there is a supermarket around the corner so we brought a bottle of beer each and ate with the meal. Staff provided bottle opener.
