We popped by the other evening to dine in because we haven’t been there for a while except for take-always but was disappointed with the overall experience. To summarize; the place is looking quite dog eared now and desperately needs some investment. Half the lights weren’t working and the furniture and decor are really dated now. The floor is also very creaky and uneven. To the food however. Our meals all ‘tasted’ very nice - BUT - wow! … their portions have really shrunk significantly. An example of this is; I can remember ordering meat samosas as a starter way back when and you used to receive two large triangles of filled filo pastry on a nice bed of salad. That then changed to three small parcels and that has now been reduced even further to two small parcels, with a small bit of salad on the side as garnish. Very disappointing. Then came the mains; once again very tasty - But - visually, it looked like a few paltry chunks of chicken swimming in a sauce, served up on a small flat crockery salver. The prices overall seem to have remained stable, so that might explain the reduced portion sizes. Drinks are quite expensive however. I can’t see us driving over to dine there again in the near future.

Very reasonably priced cuisine, extensive choice of dishes plus a good selection of vegetarian meals, bring your own beer/wine as Bucks Balti doesn’t have an alcohol licence, bonus is, they don’t charge corkage. Cracking restaurant, definitely recommend… do book in advance for a Friday/Saturday evening as it’s a popular venue, gets busy by 7pm.

Visited The Shapla on a bit of a whim with a group of friends. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal and the atmosphere surrounding. My friend got verbally assaulted by a member of staff (jokingly) and this entertaining, tailored customer service means I will be highly likely to return in the future. A restaurant isn't just about providing good food, it's about being able to understand the customer and tailoring your service approach. You can play it safe, or you can have a laugh and a joke - which is exactly what we received. I'll try to return without my friend and weird menu requests next time. I'll also try not to touch the hot table things too. So much fun.

Since it's been recently taken over the food and decor have certainly got better, but the prices are absolutely extortionate and totally not justified. We recently ate for two of us and the cost was over £80+ which is absurd for a curry. We would rather travel to Ashford or Romney Marsh for an on par curry and even factoring in the petrol would still only cost £50-60 at a push. £13+ for a curry, £5 for rice, 99p per poppadom and 99p charge pp for sundries. The costs really need to be revised as feel like this is losing alot of business for the new owners with locals. I appreciate it's a rural setting so the footfall isn't as high as Ashford but to remain competitive and entice people to travel to try the I will say superb food, service and ambience really needs a rethink

Superb food. Chicken Jalfrezi was the hottest we've ever had but absolutely fabulous. Garlic nan and chilli nan breads delicious. The butter chicken was superb. Very friendly staff. Came here last year when staying at The Mole. Hope to visit again next year and will be ordering from here again.
