Visiting from Australia and in dire need of good Indian food ( something of a rarity in Australia) this place didn’t disappoint! Truly amazing food, fast friendly service, all dishes served together made for a great evening! BYO drinks is a bit of a plus too. We will be back before returning to Australia without a doubt!!

Food was really good we sat in the restaurant area. When some of us were still eating they started removing empty plates. We felt we were being rushed and the guy gave us hot towels even though people were still eating. When we had finished and we were chatting he gave us the bill and we paid. But we all felt he was rushing us to go which made the experience uncomfortable.

Once the best in winsford. Easily the worst now. Greasy and bland.. don’t sell beer 🤷‍♂️.

Lovely place in a good location. Food was amazing. We were visiting the area from London and after checking out some google reviews, this place stood out. We were not disappointed by the food or the service. Place has a 5 star food hygiene rating and an open kitchen, which allowed us to see our feed being prepared, this is always a bonus. Had to give the chef, Jonny, a special thanks for accommodating our needs.

Ordered a large takeaway for a family party. The food was beautiful, every curry was delicious and they even gave us free onion bahjis, an extra bread and curry as we had placed a big order. Lovely people to talk to as well in the shop. Will come back again!

Food was nice, could do with a refurb, member of staff confused about his role, told us we couldnt have a jug of water as it wasnt nice? Then an older chap came and he got us a jug, poppadum dishes need a good clean, food was average and not very warm, have to say was the best poppadum tray dips id ever seen 👍....

We have been to this restaurant many times over the years but hadn't visited since lock down, so we were looking forward to it very much. Unfortunately our expectations were not met in any way. It was a warm evening ,but there was no attempt to cool the room down and the door was closed which wasn't a good start. Sadly the food was average at best, my husband and I shared 2 different dishes which tasted the same, plus there was very little chicken. Our friends were disappointed with their meals too.The Nan bread was very dry. We felt that the meal was expensive for what it was and we were very disappointed, we have had much better from nearby establishments.

Food has gone down badly lately chicken is like rubber

This has to be the blandest food I’ve ever eaten. I ordered a Lamb Tikka Rogan Josh which should be bursting with flavour from a blend of herbs and spices in a rich thick sauce. Unfortunately this version couldn’t be further away. The best I can describe this dish was lamb in a tomato sauce. No spices, herbs or seasoning. It was terrible. No love and care has gone into this dish which is a shame. I understand it’s a busy place but you build reputation on quality and on the basis of this, I’m surprised if customers return. When you consider I spent £18 in total with rice and sundries, I was extremely disappointed! I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone and I certainly won’t be returning

My Mrs and I decided on a curry for tea. We had 3 popadoms 2 glasses of cola, 3 Parthians and a curry each £50 quid. This was extortion for what we had. On the up side staff were polite the food was good, but £50. come on!!

Been to this Restaurant plenty of times for both eat in and take out experiences .. never had one complaint.. however my friend & myself went for a sit down meal last night .. we sat there for 30 minutes before my friend had to pop next door too see if they were open .. we washed 2 glasses so we could use them .. after being served .. a very small older gent started to clean up around us .. brushing up banging into our table mid meal …. Then after 10 minutes of loudly cleaning up he came over pointed his finger in my friends face and asked how we wanted to settle the bill .. we hadn’t even finished our meal .. when I said he was being rude he then went on to say in perfect English I had misunderstood his intention because of the language barrier … rude is rude in any country and this “gent” spoke perfect English .. he was definitely not front of house material ..

We tried using the online form to book a table. No response. We sent an email. No response. We telephoned and booked a table but none were reserved so we sat down feeling awkward. The decor is more American diner with everyone crushed in together. This is no romantic or fine dining place. We ordered poppadoms and chutney, 3 mains, 3 naan bread and 1 rice. It came to £56.10. The food was tasty, generous enough, well-cooked and with no complaints. We were told they were out of drinks so we had to go to the nearby garage to buy water and a bottle of pop. This was in the middle of eating. The service was poor and we felt as if we were not welcome. Nobody checked if our meal was okay and the service was surly. At the end the waiter asked how much we wanted to pay. However tempting to ask for a cheaper bill to make up for the poor service, I paid the bill. I like to tip generously for good service. This was barely adequate and we didn't have a great night and the cost of the food was not worth it when there are better options. My recommendation would be to buy the food as a takeaway as the restaurant service is poor. It has a hygiene rating of 5* so that is great, and the food is lovely. There is limited parking so we found a spot in a side street. If you want better everything, try Blue Ginger in Middlewich as it is fabulous in every way with great service and is significantly cheaper.

Amazing food, fast service, delicious. The staff are friendly and polite. Lamb rogan josh was yummy as was the tikka. All the starters are always amazing.

Vegetable curry = cabbage curry. Possibly the worst vegetable to put into a curry but one added to cut costs. Nice flavour to the sauce but this - cabbage curry?! Exactly

Visited for the first time on Sunday as a family and was really impressed. Nice atmosphere, fantastic food and very helpful staff. Really generous portions for the food and the biggest naan bread I’ve ever seen. We all left absolutely stuffed! Felt very safe with the covid precautions in place also. Will definitely visit again. My daughter has been raving about the warm face wipes and mints after our meal ever since and can’t wait to visit again.

absolute shocking tonight rang through my order at 5.25. told there was a wait so went to collect at about 6 ish.. no acknowledgement when entering...waiting for another 15 mins only to get fed up off waiting so I went home I tryed ringing but engaged...so go back and theres a que...so goes onto the shop and still no acknowledgement...so I gave up and went to another curry house... I know you where busy but you shouldn't be taking orders if you cant fulfill the ones you've already taken... people queuing outside when there should be someone coming out telling people there orders are ready...I will never go back...if you've got 2 to 3 hours spare to wait for food then fine but if not stay well clear 😡😡

Lovely surroundings. Bring your own alcohol. Waiters are a Character! Very proficient and may seem a little stand offish but it’s just that they are very busy. Take away food is as lovely as the restaurant food. Cooked in same kitchen. All open plan so can see just what’s being cooked. Great prices is a cherry on the cake! Recent decor refurb is lovely.

This place is our go to Indian, never had a bad meal and the food is always really tasty. Would advise you call in your order first as it can get very busy.

Ordered a chicken tika Jalfrezi the other night. Said to the guy not to hot thanks......ok no problem he said. Had to through it away after a couple of mouthfuls..... My mouth's still on fire. Waste of money. Cheers for that. Will not be returning.

My family had a takeaway last night from this place and never again. Onion bahji stater was rock hard and presented without salad. Chicken in the meals was grisly and sauces were bland. Didn't enjoy it at all, complete waste of money and will never use this eatery again. They may have refurbished the place but their food is just awful.

In the process of a refurb...restaurant due for completion mid-January, 2020. Very friendly welcome and the food was excellent. Wishing them well for their fresh start. We will return and that's the clincher!

The fact that people are still believing that this place is dirty or unhygienic It is NOT! it is very clean and the winsford Guardian is wrong, don’t always believe what you read. I’ve been many many times in the past year including tonight and I can say myself the staff are extremely nice and the food is brillaint! Don’t let the papers fool you

Food always good from here but a little expensive

A small restaurant seating only about 22 people. a light bit of a squeeze but it works! not the best service in town but the food makes up for that. Take your own alcohol as glasses supplied. reasonably priced. book seating for weekends as it can be packed. take away just as good unfortunately no delivery and be prepared to wait on a weekend as its busy.

Nice food bit never listen always over charge me for chutney tray when I am clear I don't want it. Not like it's happened once but 4 tines now after me clearly requesting they don't add one as I don't want it.

Myself and my partner frequent here quite a lot, and normally we have very pleasant things to say. Tonight however was an absolute disgrace! We ordered food for a take out and the gentleman taking our order was very quick to push us to choose, I imagine this was due to them closing soon so we tollerated it. However, we've come home and dished our plates and found a used napkin (possibly a handwipe?) in his food. This is absolutely disgusting! The napkin was compressed down as we struggled to open it up and find out what it was, and sadly my partner only noticed it when he tried to eat it thinking it was an egg or possibly a chunk of chicken... but this is beyond a joke and quite frankly, makes us question their health and hygiene standards! - After all our service, we certainly wont be coming back after this.

Great food choices, all freshly cooked. An excellent Indian restaurant and can bring own drinks too which helps to keep costs down although food is already at a reasonable price. Well worth a visit!!!

Had a set meal for 2 and two extra starters for 3 people, plenty of food, full of flavour, great service, would recommend eating or take out from the Balti cottage.

I only ever buy vegetable biryani and plain nan. They leave out the egg for me although no price adjustment. Both are very good. I would not go anywhere else.

Be very careful when you order a take away; when I’ve placed an order via phone I’ve noticed recently that my order has “add-on’s! ie an extra meal and or narn bread added when I’ve distinctly requested none! Please always check your order and ask for your receipt.

It was my first meal out around Winsford. Great service and friendly banter. I shall return and have a laugh with the Manager, he wears nice ties.

Called in about 7pm on a Friday evening. Think we just got there before the evening rush. They do not have a alcohol license so bring your own if you want to. We ordered a Prawn Puri & Onion Bahji as starters. Puri was very good & quite large. Bahji's were tasty but flat? The Chicken Jalfrazi with Pilau rice was very good. My wifes Chicken Bhuna was good, however the Peshweri Nann she ordered with it was uncooked in the middle and we had to send it back. It was very 'doughy' still not cooked at all. They did take it away and after some time brought a new one.

First thing you need to be aware of is that they do not sell alcohol here and you have to bring your own - we just went to the garage down the road. They do do soft drinks and coffees.

Great food at this restaurant. I had the Special Byriani and it was great. With 4 other friends all the meals including vegetarian were good. With bring your own drinks the price was great. Highly recommended for taste and value

This was never the best but because it’s round the corner and you can bring your own drink we found it to be the cheap option. On this occasion we were packed in (4 of us) with two large tables of a boys night out and a girls night out...great! we ordered our food and the service seemed good. We had a banquet to share, 4 mains, 3 rices a nann and a chapati. The bill came to £97!!!! What?! We checked the bill and asked for the menu to check these prices. Shockingly, the prices on the bill were different to those in the menu. The menu was quickly snatched from my hand and they altered one thing on the bill. (Bill £88) The food was ok but they mixed up my husbands food and didn’t offer to rectify it. We most certainly would not go back for £88 without drink, no way!

Even after a few shocking takeaways this year we decided to eat in the restaurant as we live very local. First of all you couldn’t move in there if there was a fire we would of struggled to escape seated in the back and was a pain if we wanted to try and get past people.

I really enjoy the Balti cottage I consider it one of the best curry houses in the town, there’s some great tasting dishes and a good variety. Trying to get an answer to order a takeaway can be a real chore however. Sometimes they seem to ignore the phone because they must be busy and I don’t want to walk in and wait 25 mins for a takeaway. Otherwise great
