The Viceroy Tandoori in Vale of White Horse

This authentic curry restaurant is well worth a visit. One of the best curry dishes I have experienced. Well supported by the village. I recommend booking due to its popularity.

Very popular restaurant as it was pretty busy but they accommodated us, putting us in a little alcove away from other diners which suited us perfectly. A good menu and we opted for the specialities. My jalfrezi was just right and the portions were generous. They were really busy and we hadn't booked but we didn't feel rushed, the staff were very pleasant.

We've been getting food from the Viceroy for around 10 years and it is always our go to. Definitely the best curry. We usually get take out, but have eaten in once or twice and the Viceroy never dissapoints.

Excellent classic Indian curry house with great food, great service in a nice cosy traditional pub like setting. Onion bhajis were stunning and the dips and popdums were some of the best I've ever had

Little Gem of a restaurant The viceroy in Faringdon I took a good friend out for an evening meal quite early in the evening. The welcome we received was lovely and warm with a wonderful smile given a nice table next to the radiator, which was great. Come to service and food very much enjoyed it. Excellent curry as always we had the Zaradaloo and the Tikka Methi Karahi. Both were delicious.

Ordered a Delivery and it was great The second time we have ordered here and it was delicious. We had an extra vegetable curry that didn’t order but that was also very nice. Highly recommend to anyone…we reallllly enjoyed it. Very tasty

Felt very rushed. When we declined dessert even though I still had some of my wine left, they brought hand sanitizer and the bill, then returned straight away with the card machine to pay. The food was nothing special either. We won’t be returning.

Could've turned out to be a very unfortunate incident. Firstly I orded using the numbers on the menu i.e. 1 for an onion bhaji, 2 for a kebab etc. They had no idea what I was talking about. So having the numbers on the menu is just pointless. Secondly, we ordered a delivery only to be told by the driver on the doorstep that he wanted cash or cheque. I rarely carry much but thankfully there was sufficient to pay otherwise they'd have taken everything back, said the driver. Astonishing in this age of apple pay, Google pay and apps. The food was very average. Onion bhaji was hard, the kebab was greasy, the biryrani was overcooked and bland, the naan was suffering from condensation. So instead of a very unfortunate incident we just got an unfortunate one. Won't be bothering with a takeaway again. Shame.

Booked a meal for a group of 13 colleagues with working nearby - website excellent and they accommodated an extra person Good menu, liked the excel style layout of curries ! Starters were liked by all maybe a few more pickles would have been nice. Mains were good and very generously portioned. Disappointed with the Jalfrezi - it was dark like a balti and wasn’t hot. The Naga and chilli Masala dishes were a little milder than we expected. On the plus side the nann breads were perfect. Inc drinks about £35 pp

Very disappointed, Booked a table for 3 for 6.30pm. when we got there we were told that they had no record of the booking even tho i showed them the booking on my phone? we were then told that they are fully booked & we would have to leave, we were not even offered a take away? The only good thing is we got a table the Gulshan in Shrivenham & had an excellent meal. Will certainly be going there again.

We booked a table for 9 on a recent work event and had a lovely evening, very good service, excellent food and we were well looked after. Would definitely return when next in the area. All our group were very happy with the meal and service so would recommend, all tables were taken when there do would advise booking ahead.

This was the third time we booked a table via their website, the time we selected was showing as available, we received a confirmation email, then we received a message half an hour later to say sorry we can't accommodate your request. This has happened 3 times now. We were trying to support a local business. The restaurant needs to look at their website booking process to not disappoint people wanting to eat in the establishment We won't be trying to book again, sorry

Excellent service and food. A small hiccup regarding our pre-booked window table that was quickly resolved by an offer to move us (declined) and a couple of complimentary drinks thanks to the attentive owner’s (Yasmin) excellent customer service skills. Will we go back? Absolutely!

Staying in Farringdon and with restricted choice of food we decided on a curry. We were not disappointed either as the quality of food was amazing. My wife’s regular shaslick chicken was “ the best she’s had”. My garlic chilli chicken was amazing too and the cheese Naans were the best we’ve had. Great staff too which always makes it a lot better. We live in Swindon and May bring the family out here as it’s that good.

Lovely looking place with fantastic interior. We may have caught them on an off night as food not served hot and some dishes in our group underwhelming. Friendly service and reasonable prices but mixed bag dish wise.

Way below average Indian restaurant run, as many are, by Bangladeshi folk. The onion bhajis were old and warmed up, the tandoori chicken not cooked in a tandoor but came on a hot plate. The chicken korma came in a bright yellow coconut sauce but the yoghurt and cream was missing from it while the lamb tikka masala came in a very nasty looking bright red sauce, also not what was expected. The meat component in both dishes had cold chicken and lamb diced and stirred into these sauces which was quite awful. The korma naan was almost devoid of lamb. £52 for the poorest meal I've had in the UK.

Really great food and reasonably priced, however one of the waiters just seemed grumpy the whole time and rushed us through the meal - actually took the drinks menu before we'd had a chance to read it. I just grabbed another one, and the meal was very nice, but waitstaff were a bit weird.

Did not feel welcome even though the place was empty. Food was ok, but the restaurant was very dated just look at the Carpet from the 70s didn't look clean. As for the kitchen and toilets very run down. We were very rushed with each course. Took plates away from starter and brought the Main course straight out no time to digest the starter. Decided not to have any desserts, the bill came straight to the table without even asking for it. Why didn't you tell us F###O##. Will never Return.

The food overall is quite bland and sweet tasting. The tikka masala sauce looked and tasted like canned tomato sauce or ketchup with maybe a little bit of cumin and the chickpea paneer dish tasted like it had some sort of sweetener and was also quite bland. The chicken was tender, to find something positive to say in this review! I put some pickle into the dishes to give at least some flavor. Overall, some of the worst Indian food we have ever eaten. The service was fine, and the prices are fine but the food was almost inedible.

Wow what an amazing place to eat. So many authentic and original ideas. Decor is amazing with several paintings from Steam Trains to a Lancaster. Was part of a group of 10 but table was laid out for 8, not a problem for the hosts. We were moved to a bigger table after we had ordered our food. Flavours were incredible, I had vegetable Methi and coconut rice. Prices are competitive and very good.

Good restaurant for a good Indian meal. Food quality is good, service is friendly and fast. Lots of locals coming in for takeaways which made it look a bit crowded at times, but it didn't interfere with us getting our food.

We have been going to the Viceroy for the past 10 years and never had a bad meal. Food is delicious, staff are attentive, friendly and professional and it's always a lovely evening. So happy they've reopened after lock down. I've missed them so much and I feel very safe going in now with all their safety measures.
