The Viceroy Tandoori in Vale of White Horse

I visited the restaurant for the first time 3 weeks ago the food was excellent and great service as I am in a wheelchair I got through the door with no problems Visited October 2022

Excellent classic Indian curry house with great food, great service in a nice cosy traditional pub like setting. Onion bhajis were stunning and the dips and popdums were some of the best I've ever had

Excellent curry as always we had the Zaradaloo and the Tikka Methi Karahi. Both were delicious.

A lucky dip choice when we first moved to Stanford and were so impressed, we've happily re-ordered! Each dish delivered hot, tastes different to the others, full of spices and flavours and delivered with a smile. Thank you!

Could've turned out to be a very unfortunate incident. Firstly I orded using the numbers on the menu i.e. 1 for an onion bhaji, 2 for a kebab etc. They had no idea what I was talking about. So having the numbers on the menu is just pointless. Secondly, we ordered a delivery only to be told by the driver on the doorstep that he wanted cash or cheque. I rarely carry much but thankfully there was sufficient to pay otherwise they'd have taken everything back, said the driver. Astonishing in this age of apple pay, Google pay and apps. The food was very average. Onion bhaji was hard, the kebab was greasy, the biryrani was overcooked and bland, the naan was suffering from condensation. So instead of a very unfortunate incident we just got an unfortunate one. Won't be bothering with a takeaway again. Shame.

Food was stunning. Delicious and very attractively served. Waiting staff were very attentive but not hovering.. a great experience. We were late in on specials night, ordered a feast, were not disappointed. Staff were amazing as always.

Great family run restaurant, busy but great atmosphere

My favourite Indian takeaway. It never fails to disappoint. The naan bread is unreal and the curry is amazing with a lovely creamy sauce and the perfect amount of chicken.

Way below average Indian restaurant run, as many are, by Bangladeshi folk. The onion bhajis were old and warmed up, the tandoori chicken not cooked in a tandoor but came on a hot plate. The chicken korma came in a bright yellow coconut sauce but the yoghurt and cream was missing from it while the lamb tikka masala came in a very nasty looking bright red sauce, also not what was expected. The meat component in both dishes had cold chicken and lamb diced and stirred into these sauces which was quite awful. The korma naan was almost devoid of lamb. £52 for the poorest meal I've had in the UK.

Really great food and reasonably priced, however one of the waiters just seemed grumpy the whole time and rushed us through the meal - actually took the drinks menu before we'd had a chance to read it. I just grabbed another one, and the meal was very nice, but waitstaff were a bit weird.

Did not feel welcome even though the place was empty. Food was ok, but the restaurant was very dated just look at the Carpet from the 70s didn't look clean. As for the kitchen and toilets very run down. We were very rushed with each course. Took plates away from starter and brought the Main course straight out no time to digest the starter. Decided not to have any desserts, the bill came straight to the table without even asking for it. Why didn't you tell us F###O##. Will never Return.

The food overall is quite bland and sweet tasting. The tikka masala sauce looked and tasted like canned tomato sauce or ketchup with maybe a little bit of cumin and the chickpea paneer dish tasted like it had some sort of sweetener and was also quite bland. The chicken was tender, to find something positive to say in this review! I put some pickle into the dishes to give at least some flavor. Overall, some of the worst Indian food we have ever eaten. The service was fine, and the prices are fine but the food was almost inedible.

Always have a fabulous meal when we come here. Delicious food, huge portions and well priced. Staff are so so friendly and look after us every time. Yasmin was so lovely chatting to us at the end of the meal.

Wow what an amazing place to eat. So many authentic and original ideas. Decor is amazing with several paintings from Steam Trains to a Lancaster. Was part of a group of 10 but table was laid out for 8, not a problem for the hosts. We were moved to a bigger table after we had ordered our food. Flavours were incredible, I had vegetable Methi and coconut rice. Prices are competitive and very good.

Came for our 1st wedding anniversary dinner. Lovely ambience, excellent service. Food was exceptional, made to how we'd like it with extra chillies. Well looked after by all the team, thank you all for a lovely evening and hoping to visit again in the near future!

Had several takeaways now and each time the food is really good. The delivery service is always very friendly and mostly punctual. Fairly expensive but I would say worth it.

Absolutely terrible curry. The chicken makhani was a swath of fat and cheese with a very weird mismatched blend of spices.The tikka masala was also subpar and mostly tasted of garlic, which meant you couldn't really taste the other ingredients. The delivery driver seemed like an alright bloke though

Enjoyed our first takeaway from Viceroy which won’t be our last! We chose a few main dishes and sides, all of which tasted very good and the portion sizes were great, we even managed to save some to enjoy for lunch the next day. The staff were super friendly too!

We stayed a few miles from Faringdon for the weekend and decided to eat at the Viceroy Tandoori. So pleased we did. The food was excellent, starters of chicken tikka (large portion) was so succulent and lamb samosas (large size), to often small samosas are served. Chicken Rezalla and chicken Achar, with rice, bombay aloo and keema naan. All the food was excellent and so tasty, we would highly recommend. We will definately visit again if in the area!

What a nice surprise! Fantastic meal, can really recommend the amiri lamb….service is out of this world, friendly, efficient and personal at the same time. Busy but felt like you had as much time as you wanted. This was the best meal I’ve had for a long time. And as a massive bonus the prices were incredibly reasonable.

Fantastic food !!! Delicious, fresh chicken tikka masala and garlic lamb tikka. We had a delivery service and we didn't wait long. I would recommend this place if you like indian food.

I suffer from a severe nut allergy. I've had take away from this restraunt a few times, however the previous two times, I have had severe reactions to traces of nuts in their food.Both times, when ordering it was stressed that one of the people who would be eating the food had a nut allergy, and both times we were assured that there are no nuts in the meal. The first time, I had assumed that the poppadoms where cooked with peanut oil, and they where, I had tested this by rubbing some of them into my wrist. I had figured that they where the cause of my reaction.The second time however, I had strictly isolated my meal from everything else, and I still suffered an allergic reaction. This is sad because their food is good. Just not good enough to die for.TL;DR: Either the restaurant does not take proper precausions to preparing meals for those with alergies ( cross contamination ). Or they do not know the ingredients which they use for their meals.

Had an excellent takeaway from the Viceroy last night that was worthy of 5 stars on its own, but if I could give 6 I would as they were delivered by a very friendly lady who, along with our bag of gorgeous curry gave us a big box of Roses chocolates, together with a Xmas card! Thank you very much guys!

Visited here twice in a week when we stayed in Faringdon. It serves the best chicken chat I have ever tasted. The staff are warm and friendly and nothing is too much. On a Wednesday night they have an offer on for 3 courses but you have to book quick as it gets booked up quickly. A word of warning about this place - the portions are very big and filling - you will definitely be full. Next time I’m in Faringdon will go back

We dined at The Viceroy after being recommended by the receptionist at the hotel.Very small and quaint but the food was amazing.Prawn Pathia to start followed by chicken tikka massala and chicken pasanda with coconut rice and pashwari nan. As it was a wednesday we took advantage of their special meal offer saving over £10.Very clean restaurant throughout and all staff were wearing masks/visors so we felt very safe.

We have been going to the Viceroy for the past 10 years and never had a bad meal. Food is delicious, staff are attentive, friendly and professional and it's always a lovely evening. So happy they've reopened after lock down. I've missed them so much and I feel very safe going in now with all their safety measures.

When visiting Faringdon, I always come here. They are welcoming and the food is great. I had for the first time the vegetable dansak and it was amazing. Looking forward to my next visit.

Went for takeaway as was recommended.very cold welcome and would like seat while you wait and initially carnt have tikka medium hot,when got as very average for the price I will not return or reccomend I have had great curry and thus is not by far and customer service needs a lot work for potential new customers

Simple and unassuming, but excellent food.

There was a large party of us and we arrived to our tables. The drinks were ordered and delivered and then onto the poppadoms and dips which are a nice start. Followed by a wait which was to be expected with a party of our size but the food came hot and tasty. Really nice range of flavours and curries. Followed by a drink on the house and a gift to the ladies and children... very kind going above and beyond a standard meal out. Can’t wait for the next time.

Our daughter had a lovely 16th birthday meal with her friends at The Viceroy. She was well looked after.

Amazing food and friendly staff.

The food is ok, but nothing special. The service was quite poor, starting with a mix up with booking our table, which left us standing in the small entrance for too long before being seated, to mixing up our order and us having to get a waiter's attention for drinks and food order. We won't be going back.

Living just up the road means this place is real close, I’m glad too as the food is always great and the staff always friendly.

Great well established Indian with nice staff and owners. Very friendly and well decorated but I’m afraid the food didn’t impress. Rice not fluffy and a bit wet and the chicken tikka masala was thin and watery. Not what we are used to in our local Indian in wales.

Real Indian food. Adjusted to the European taste. But on request they give you the real taste.

Not very spacious inside, but very good food. All the starters were excellent and pretty big portions. For the mains we particularly liked the tandoori mixed grill and the special biriyani.

Viceroy food is consistently very good and this occasion was no exception. In the midst of a snow storm phoned the Viceroy to ask if delivery service was operating, all other services were cancelled or limited because of severe weather. Amazed to be told deliveries were possible. Food arrived on time and piping hot even though the delivery driver had to walk the last part of the journey. Service above and beyond the call of duty.
