Ordered a take away tonight not only did it take an hour and 15 minutes to arrive, I ordered sizzling King prawns which cost £12, and I recieved a pile of peppers and onions and 3 prawns, very disappointing, not woth £12, I have eaten in the restaurant many times and usylually its served with 6 King prawns

Abingdon Spice is, without doubt. The best in Abingdon for Indian food. Price, taste, portions, service and even better when eat in. As a chef myself and in the Michelin Guide I can wholly recommend.

No notification, cold when arrived needed to be reheated not acceptable

It was absolutely awful. Burnt food, tasteless rice, madras had absolutely no spice. I called to complain and was told I would receive a call back when the restaurant was open. They never called. Paid delivery charge and service charge added. It was thrown away and we cooked something else. More annoyed they didn’t bother to follow up. Safe to say I won’t be ordering again and I’ve warned everyone via our village Facebook page. Seems I’m not the only one who has had a bad experience.

The food was absolutely terrible. I’m so sorry to say that we threw most of it away. Myself and my partner worked all new year and Christmas, so this was a treat for us and we ended up having to make food at home instead. The madras was swimming in fat and absolutely tasteless-no spice. The rice was bland and cold. The mix platter was burnt! The poppadoms were clearly cooked in old oil-you could taste it.

Had one New Year’s Eve. Seemed like they were busy so stood waiting in restaurant for half an hour took 1 hr instead of 30 mins quoted on phone. Food was pretty bland and disappointing. King prawn korai with 2 prawns in 12 quid. Would not use again

We have ordered from Abingdon spice several times. The food is always really good quality. Sometimes it does take longer than expected to arrive but it is worth the wait. The chicken Bhuna and the Passana are highly recommended.

Second time ordering from here, food is nice but delivery has been late both times. This time in particular the food was very very cold, which was disappointing.

Really delicious food! I think we’ve definitely found a favourite Indian Takeaway that delivers. My only issue was spending £6 on the garlic prawn appetiser which had only 2 prawns in. IMO really bad value for money there, but great with everything else! Mega tasty. Thank you!

First time I'm disappointed with Indian food in England

delivery driver was very friendly and apologetic but the food was 20 minutes late, cold and not particularly appealing. first and last time ordering from here I'm afraid which is a shame. way below our normal restaurants offering.

Good food and great portion at reasonable price

I mean it's not the worst place to go! The staff are nice and the food was ok, lacked a good strong taste as well as salt. But my idea of a good Indian is going to Brummie Indian restaurant as you just can't get better! I've been once, and I think I'll look around a see what else is out there!

this is absolutely the WORST indian ive ever had, i bought the prawn madras with sagg rice. was not curry consistency, it was a pool of oil with a bit of chilli tomato liquid on top. tasted like chili oil that may have looked at a tomato once. the prawns were chewy, not normal prawn chewy they were hard to get through. and the rice did not taste like i expect sagg rice to taste like, if was literally just normal rice with too much green herbs on top, not pleasant. i couldnt even get a couple bites through because it made me feel ill and still does an hour later. we couldn’t even feed it to the dogs it was that bad, wed be doing them a disservice. then they called to see how it was and we told them. they refused a refund and asked for the curry back??? im sorry who does that. DONT GO HERE!!

Worst vegetable biryani I've ever eaten in my life. It was saltless, full of turmeric and no flavour of biryani masala. Not at all authentic taste and not recommended for vegetable biryani.

Incredibly poor delivery service. Took 2 hours to arrive, even though email confirmation stated 1 hour 10 mins. No updates to any delays. Had to call restaurant twice to enquire. Will not order again.

Absolutely terrible. I had to drain about half small cup of grease out of the sag aloo. The chicken jalfrezi was the worst, no sauce just bone dry chicken, pepper and onions with rouge chilli’s! So greasy it turned my rice yellow. We both just put it in the bin!! We felt that we needed to let the restaurant know so called them and they said that they would give us 20% off the next time we order . We will never see that 20% because they have just lost two customers. Go to Mahee it’s much better quality. I don’t know how they felt that they could send this quality of food out to people . worst Indian meal I’ve ever experienced and believe me I’ve had a few

We did not eat there but the staff are absolutely the loveliest people in abingdon i went in to get a glass of water when it was completely closed and locked and they got me one with a friendly smile 😊

This place is nice, since some changes were made it's definitely improved and the food is really good. The staff and the restaurant are fantastic however sometimes I do think they need to have a bit of a word with the people delivering the food. That's the first time I got this it was a bit bashed in. But the food itself is actually very very nice and has a lot of decent flavours and cooked very well. As I had some bad experiences with the actual delivery of the food I decided to just go and collect the food when I ordered from here and I have a good experience every time. Also if you want to eat in it's very nice The staff are very intensive and the portions and for what you get are very good you walk away very full and very happy.

Hi I’m a regular customer at Abingdon spice, Their service is absolutely professional and about the food they always make sure the standard and quality. I personally like there tandoori items, I’m a big fan of there tandoori chicken the way they present it’s wonderful. Always had a good experience with them. One of the best food in Oxford. The best thandoori in the town aswell.

Thought I'd give Abingdon Spice a try after reading positive reviews. I ordered and collected a takeaway meal; Chicken Pathia, Bhindi Bhaji and Pilau rice. There's only one word for it - Disappointing. The Pathia was lacking flavour and spice with only a few small pieces of dry chicken and the Bhindi smelt and tasted of old cooking oil. The restaurant area looked tired and in need of a face lift, as did the staff. Wont be going there again.

We went on a Tuesday night their banquet night, were the only people in the restaurant apart from one other couple, I think I now know why! The front of house was unfriendly, unwelcoming, did not listen and was ignorant. We felt that despite being responsible for two this of their takings we were not welcome, we were an inposition, they could not get out of the door quick enough. Their front of house staff are damaging their business, change is urgently needed.

I work as a Michelin Guide listed chef/ business operator. I can say this place is top for all, they go above and beyond in their remit and punch well above their weight. Staff on top and food good.

The level of care and quality of this restaurant is unmatched in the area, top quality food, service and price!

So more and more with most Indian takeaways I’m having is a lack flavour. The Korma from this restaurant was watery and lacked any flavour, I’m guessing to save money it’s watered down. The Korma sauce was not pleasant. No flavour at all. And top of that our whole meal was cold on delivery. On this occasion very unhappy with the meal. Just my experience on this occasion.

Takeaway- wet, flavourless curry. Ordered a butter chicken-it was bland and more like a korma. The rest of the family unfortunately felt the same about their curries. Disappointed, especially as this took over an hour to be delivered.

That’s any other food, but not indian food! 🤣

The podina was very spicy and tasted nothing like mint? The tikka main wasn’t recognisable as tikka? Not sure If order got mixed up? Was late when we ordered so re-delivery not an option. Chicken tikka masala and cheese naan were nice.

We regularly visit here especially on a Sunday night. Food is great. Nice atmosphere and well worth a visit. Worthwhile spending an evening here.

Really great food delivered hot and quickly

We are a party of 4 men in our sixties and we visited Abingdon Spice Indian restaurant last night, Sat 13 Jan 24. We had a lovely meal, obviously cooked by a very good kitchen team, and delivered by attentive waiters. A very big thank you guys, will be seeing you again soon.

This spot is great for a chilling experience with friends if you like Asian food. Staff are very friendly. Definitely recommend once if you are in and around Oxfordshire

I'm writing this review after several visits to this restaurant, I'm pleased to share my experience here that they have been amazing with the quality of the food they serve. A variety of delicious Indian and Bangladesh cousins are available at reasonable prices. I recommend everyone to explore this once if you are in and around Abingdon area.

Although the food is generally ok for the 3rd time my order was not complete, they did send out the replacement but by time it arrived rest of my food was cold. I wanted to put in my complaint on just eat where the order was placed but the restaurant was clever and removed the item from my original order so I couldn’t choose the item missing button!! Well done Abingdon Spice I think it’s time we found another place to order from now. My custom to you is finished…..

Never written a review in my life but this was that Terrible it has forced me too. Lamb was so chewy and curry so tasteless I’m not even sure what I was eating. Portions massively reduced to normal. Must be a change in kitchen stuff as normally very good. Avoid!

Dont even bother. Food was over an hour late, the restaurant staff were’nt helpful at all.

Ordered aloo paratha and mango pickle , where the parantha was bulky dough and instead of pickle was given chutney. I clearly mentioned about unsweetened curry but the curry was added lotsa sugar. Would not recommend ever.

Had a take away....normally I like this place but tried the veg curry side dish and tarka dahl. Truly awful, I have never before not finished a curry but I guess this is a first. The veg curry was so oilily I had to drain it, then it proved to be so bland it was like they hadn't even added any spoces. I have used this restaurant for years but tired of the oilly takeout food they seem to increasingly send. Think I have had enough of their food now

Notification to say food left at 7pm. 1 hour later at 8 pm our food arrived. Everything was cold. i ordered a chicken curry that lacked alot of sauce, most of which that was there was oil / ghee. Defo never ordering from here again!

Absolute top notch food, delivered on time, driver was lovely (our house is not the easiest to find!). As ever, the food was piping hot and super tasty. Won't use any other Indian resturant...

By far the worst experience ordering a takeaway I’ve ever had. On the phone for 20 minutes trying to order. Finally ordered, it arrives 2 hours later. 30 minutes before arrival I called and was told it had left and was on its way. No surprises when it turns up cold. Bonus for not including the rice and the food being bland. Delivery driver was rude to say ‘well you won’t be charged for it’ (was paying cash upon delivery). That’s not the point! Moral of the story, order from Dil Raj as you know it’s great and reliable.

Excellent restaurant, and thoroughly enjoyed the banquet night (Tuesdays & Sundays) meal I had. Started with a mixed platter, then chicken jalfrezi, pilau rice, & cauliflower side. Kingfisher on tap too. Service was good & efficient. Visited again and enjoyed the main Jalfrezi dish. I'm getting slightly disappointed with the poppadum starter condiments. What I expect is mango, and tamarind chutney are a bit on the 'thin' side. The chopped onion option is not that exciting, and there is apparently no mango or lime pickle.

Excellent food, excellent service

Ordered it at 17:30, for a 18:30 arrival. It arrived at 18:45. Food was still hot and very delicious.

Part of set meal (rice) was missing. Also sent red sauce and not mint. Did not answer phone when I called so have approached Just Eat for a refund. Thank you for your patience, the form would not let me specify that only part of the set meal was an issue.

The mixed grill was missing a Nan bread. The aloo gobi was all large chunks of potato and no cauliflower… taste was nice, chicken chatt had no chicken….. bit sad as first time I’ve used them in a new house…..

I visited with a large group of colleagues. Things were decently priced, food was good, service was efficient.

Really late delivering despite having 90 mins to deliver. No communication and had to chase. Then the driver took 10 mins trying to find us despite having very clear directions and a sign on the gate. Just dreadful.

This place provides some of the best food I have had in a long time. The food, delicious and incredibly good value, was accompanied by a great atmosphere and very welcoming staff.

Even the onions on the poppadum dip tray were bland. No salads on the menu. Raita and other sauces far too sweet - I actually had to use salt to make everything less sweet. Husband ordered a 'sizzler'... What came was a non-descript curry in a sizzler dish. It was not in any universe sizzling or like any other sizzler dish in any other Indian restaurant. The 'sizzler' came with "your choice of bread" - ordered a garlic nan with it. A garlic nan was delivered along with a plain nan. When we commented there was a large commotion in which all the waiters insisted that we ordered two - it was easier to say 'fine' than argue. I ordered Paneer Tikka with a side salad. The tikka came with a salad - not explained by the waiter. The side salad came with frozen peas. Still Frozen. The paneer was ok. Service was OK and most waiters friendly and cheery apart from the guy taking the orders who was dour and unhelpful. Overall, pretty much the worst Indian food in the region. Bland 'flavour', no finesse, nothing outstanding, dirty ladies loo where the sink was full of yukky water so couldn't even wash hands. We went for the good reviews but will not be returning. I felt sorry for the Australian couple next to us who had obviously made the same mistake.

All tasted of grease. And the tikka masala was watered down and had a burning taste . The 'korma' was not a korma it was brown in colour and tasted of practically nothing. So disappointed won't be coming back

The Chicken Tikka Massala had no flavour, the lamb special dish was oily and greasey, very dry lamb with no flavour. Sag paneer was watery with no flavour, almost as if it had been frozen and defrosted. Bombay potatoes no flavour. So very disappointed.
