The Red Fort Authentic Indian Cuisine in Woking

Here is a detailed review. I like indian/pak foods and frequently visit different similar restaurants. I had high expectations from the place but felt extreme disappointment. Here are some of the reasons: -Prices were too high and it could be fine considering the location but taste doesn’t reflect the price at all. Definitely 2/5 in pricing when compare to taste. -Environment was just okay 3/5 but didn’t feel really welcoming feeling. -The worst thing about the place was the quantity of the food they serve and that is 1/5. My bill was nearly £50 and that was for the food and we were two people only (me and my wife). We both usually get full in normal portions and always have to pack the remaining food whenever we go but this time we came back and had another dinner from home. -Taste was just okay for me personally 3/5 but there are restaurants offering far better taste, better prices and better quantity. -Staff was fine and helpful so 4/5 for that.

Enjoyed an early dinner on my own and whisky the restaurant only had me inside I certainly had a good time. Great Condiments with my popadoms , good lamb chops , and the chefs special lamb kala. One of my top 2 Indians in Woking

Great curry. I had a Recomended lamb dish with a garlic naan. The dish was a Lamb Kala Bhuna The lamb was melt in your mouth and the naan was very fresh and rich with garlic. The Kala was packed with wonderful flavour and the heat was perfect for me. Service was very good and staff very friendly, attentive and helpful.

Top level Curry restaurant , ignored some obscure comments about tea and staff interactions, the staff are super friendly the food is as good as it gets, cinnamon sticks and curry leaves in dishes are always a indication to real authentic cooking. Beer cold nam bread flat crispy and delicious. For once in long time I’ll be back before the weeks out. Panner curry the best I’ve had.

Lovely food but portions are way too small compared with other restaurants. Real shame as wouldn't return because of this.

Ate in here with a mate on Monday night . Place was quiet but service was good and quick . Food was tasty and definitely recommend . Dearest thing on the menu was the beer ! An enjoyable evening

Decent food at a decent price. Can't say it was special but it was good for the price.

Very rude staff. We went there to have a tea, snacks and if time permits, dinner. The baldy at the counter rudely asked us what we're planning to eat, and told us that it isn't a coffee shop and we have to spend big to dine there. We didn't feel welcome there. The musty odour didn't help justify the behaviour either. Instead, we went to the TacoBell nearby and was much better.

Excellent Indian food. Really impressed. I had the special mixed grill (chicken, lamb and prawns) which came with a sauce which was spicy and tasty. Honestly, one of the best Indian dishes I've ever had (and I've had a lot!). Service was friendly and attentive, plenty of space and well presented. Knocking down a star as it's very expensive. Poppadoms, 2 mains with naans and 2 drinks was £50, which I think is excessive.

I'm going to go with one star and it's only because the lamb chop starter I had was delicious and Google won't allow for less. Unfortunately the buttered chicken should never be served to anyone who enjoys buttered chicken and especially not to anyone with diabetes because it mostly just tasted like yellow sugar sauce. I'm sure some would enjoy this, but I think you could find better!

Not happy - we ordered tikka masala x2 and we received tikka masala chicken with Korma sauce. Not only this, but the sauce was so powdery, it was a struggle to finish. Our naan bread looked and tasted like it was reheated in a microwave. Not impressed.

A fantastic place with excellent food. The staff always make us feel special, whether we are eating in or taking away. I would also say that the Red Fort is very reasonably priced compared to other take-aways, which is another reason to give it a try. Thanks Red Fort, and see you again

We ordered from this place last night and we were very disappointed with the amount of food that was given. It was just under half full. We have always ordered from here so we thought by phoning them and asking to correct the problem they would at least fix the problem. But the person i spoke too didn’t want to know and he was saying to speak to Uber which we did and they said the restaurant are responsible for your order. I would stay away from this place. very disappointed.

Taste was decent, but it was too oily. It was dripping from the container. Could do with better portion sizes too.

The best Indian restaurant in Woking IMHO. A good selection of really tasty food and great value for money. I would highly recommend everyone to try it.

I can't comment on the eating-in option - this review is for the Red Fort takeaway. It.is.INCREDIBLE. The first time I ordered through Just-Eat (now switched to ordering direct from Red Fort as it's cheaper) was purely by chance. They were cheap so I went with them, with low expectations due to the price. Oh my god was I WRONG!! Every single dish was full of flavour, and beautifully cooked, from the perfect onion bahji to the soft sheek kebab. But the main point to note is the lamb they use. If you're of a certain age you will remember when EVERY Indian restaurant used those lovely chunks of lamb, instead of the miserable, cheap and nasty marbled strips half of them use today. Red Fort use CHUNKS of lamb, that are so soft they almost melt in your mouth. And ZERO gruesome white tubing either. Absolutely incredible quality of food for the price. Don't be fooled by how cheap Red Fort are - support a wonderful, top notch establishment that REALLY make the effort to get their food right.

Staff polite and welcoming as usual, wanted the lamb mirchi but unfortunately this was unavailable, waiter suggested an alternative that was as flavourful and good. Service was good, no hovering, and waiter was able to define the dishes to our US colleagues who were not as familiar with their style as we were. Time to prepare was not to long. All in all a favourite of mine and recommend their restaurant to all

Gorgeous authentic food that reminds me of my grandfather's cooking. The atmosphere inside is calm and inviting. Hygiene is of a high standard, which I'm sure anyone can appreciate now more than ever.

I recently spent a fortnight in Woking. I returned to this lovely, family-run restaurant almost every evening. The welcoming, friendly hosts were happy to share their knowledge of the extensive menu. The food was really delicious. All the dishes I tried were superb, ranging from subtle, tempting flavours, to artfully spiced favourites. This is a must if you enjoy Indian food at it's best, in pleasant, relaxed surroundings. I look forward to returning!

On a recent fortnight's visit to Woking, I returned many times to this wonderful, family-run restaurant. The friendly hosts were very welcoming, and ready to share their knowledge of the exquisite food on the menu. Every dish I had was delicious, and very satisfying. Make sure you pay this gem a visit! You won't be disappointed. I look forward to the next time.

This is a smaller restaurant and takeaway in a busy end of town. There is very little close by parking but there are car parks within walking distance. It is nicely decorated and plays great music. The place was empty when we visited but it was early as we placed a takeaway order. Very warm welcome from the reception desk/bar. Everyone is very friendly. Service is very quick and accurate. We enjoyed our meal. It was tasty although the chicken was a little stringy and dry for both of us this time. Overall, I would visit again and I would eat in. It’s a nice venue.

Ordered food an hour and a half ago and I'm still waiting... So annoying wasn't a difficult order even on boxing day shouldn't take this long. Still waiting!!

Booked a table here for 8.30 today for a party of 6. Arrived 8.36. Upon arrival I heard a guy say 'oh its not them is it' then all of a sudden there was a leak on our table, even though the restaurant was full. We were then rudely told to wait 30 mins. I dine out daily and I've never had this type of horrific experience. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Do not get your hopes up for a night here as they may give your table away!! We were lucky the priory sorted us a table!! If not night ruined after hours of travelling!!

Ordered using deliveroo. My chicken korma was spicy.. so spicy I was coughing and my nose was running. I purposefully chose korma as I don’t like spicy curry, so kormas are my go to as they’re very mild. Then to top it off I got some mango chutney, which tasted nothing like mango chutney and was also spicy! The whole thing was bizarre.

I have eaten here several times on my visits to the area .. Best Bhindi by far and the main courses i have sampled have always been outstanding .. Food is freshly cooked so even with a quiet restaurant be patient for excellent food to tempt the palate .. Owner is very polite and friendly.

Recommend bring ya mates especially Tuesday and Wedensday sit in special. So I'm from Woking. I've eaten here so many times. Last 16 years I live in Thailand so I was so looking fore ward to a good curry when I got to England.I had to wait 2 years to be able to travel back to Woking. I'm so happy red Fort has survived the carnage of covid. Any how my sit in main meal was great very nice flavours and armours with excelent side dishes and all served in a good time. With attentive staff looking after me.. Super happy thank you red Fort.. C u again soon

Despite having lived close the The Red Fort in Woking for many years, it was only this week that I decided to eat there for the first time. They had a five-star food hygiene rating, and a website where we could check the menu in advance. It was a quiet night, around 10:30pm, with around four tables in. There was one gentleman running front-of-house and he was welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. I was eating with my partner and we both felt the customer service was great. We enjoyed the usual drinks and poppadom, followed by the mixed meat platter to start. It was hot and tasty – what more can I ask for! When it came to ordering mains, I was tempted by my go-to, a lamb madras. However the gentleman serving us recommended I might like to try one of their signature dishes – I believe it was the Nepali Ghurka Lamb. I was not disappointed – it was delicious; with plenty of decent quality meat and a really nice flavour that was a nice variation from a lot of the regular Indian dishes I would usually go for. The speed of service was in line with what you would expect for the time of night, and the food came out hot and well presented. With regards Covid safety, the staff their wore masks when attending tables, and there was plenty of space between us and other guests. We were able to use the NHS check-in app when we arrived. In terms of value for money, we found it to be about average – and were very happy to leave a tip for the warm, friendly service. My only complaint would be that the chairs in the restaurant are shaped in such a way that they are not the most comfortable for those with a larger rump! But – that didn’t negatively impact the overall experience. Will absolutely return.

I've not had a great deal of experience to be able to comment on how authentic a dish is. All I know is that I came in expecting to have my taste buds excited, and excited they were. The food was lovely, the staff friendly and professional, and it was a nice atmosphere for late on a Tuesday evening. Very pleasant experience and I look forward to being able to return.

Don’t, just don’t. I can’t ever remember having a worse meal anywhere in the world. Service was slow and appalling and how much had one of the staff had to drink?….totally disheveled and uncoordinated. As for the food, I had cat sick yellow coloured butter dish that tasted worse than a Homepride cooking sauce out of a jar. We will never return, as Gordon Ramsey would say… “what a shame”

Food is good but not a typical Indian desi taste ..

I'm going to give 3*. The food was decent. However the food arrived very late. I would say the onion Bhaji was rather greasy and the butter naan was soggy.The lamb Madras itself I would give 4*. I will try again in the future. As It was pretty good all in all.

We usually love the food from Red Fort but this time we ordered £60 worth of food for 4 people at around 6 p.m. on a Saturday. Unfortunately, although the tracking map showed the driver to be outside our house, when I opened the door I saw him driving off without leaving the food. He then cancelled the order so UberEats refunded us but we had no food and the restaurant made a loss. Contacted both Red Fort & UberEats to complain. Interesting to read on here of another non-delivery just last month. It's a shame Red Fort is being let down by its delivery drivers. Suggest Red Fort reconsider its delivery partners.

They usually have good food but I ordered £80 of food on Sunday for an occasion - the order was accepted but it simply didn't turn up. I phoned the two numbers, both on answering machine. Obviously won't use again. Or go when they re-open.

Don't bother with there food! Jaipur is way better trust me guys. My food arrived cold and tasteless!!! Avoid at,all costs the chef must have a addiction to using alot of oil!! Absolutely swimming in oil! Wouldn't feed this to a dog

Got posted their leaflet in the post last week, thought i'd give them a go. Used the online service, made the order, said to pay on arrival. All good. From that point, LITERALLY NOTHING. They didn't set an arrival date, they didn't turn up. They didn't reply to my emails. This was 5 days ago. NOTHING. Do not order from them online, I certainly won't be ever again. Customer-service is literally non-existent. 1 star out of 5 is too much, would have given 0 otherwise.

Absolutely fantastic curry. I had the pathia. Sweet, sour and rich tomato based sauce. Meat was excellent quality. Friend had the lamb dhansak and was also incredible. Best curry I've had in while. Would give Camberley Tandoori a run for its money!!

Visited during eat out to help out and our bill came to £56 for two of us. Prices have been put up as when we order delivery for the same items we pay less than £30. Not impressed, shame because the food is good

Has to be the worst food we have tasted in Woking so far. We ordered chicken achari fusion and to our surprise founds bits of achar in the dish, this was a shock. Half of the dish had achar with only 6 cubes of chicken. You better come to us and we will teach you how to make that dish. Portion is awful. Naans were soggy as well. A definite no go for us. Update: We have fallen ill after taking these items.

Stuck in the house we had to have home delivery ,this was our first order with Red Fort and we loved it. Lots of fresh ingredients and the taste better than in other good restaurants we’ve used. This isn’t fast food with an hours quoted time but it was only a bit longer than some pizza houses were showing tonight.

Totally unbelievable experience. Visited for a meal with friends and we ordered first and were then joined by others. Their food arrived well in advance of ours and we were left waiting for ages. Eventually the food arrived and was literally disgusting. A pasanda was full of chilli and being allergic to chilli this was not acceptable. The other two meals were the same and far far too hot and spicy for what they were meant to be. This was agreed by most of the party who tasted it. Manager refused to accept there was anything wrong but eventually agreed to remove the dishes but still added a service charge!Quite clearly didn’t understand how payment in a restaurant works and that when a customer isn’t happy you can’t be expected to pay for inedible food and certainly not the discretionary service charge! Avoid!

Food average standard for a curry restaurant. Nothing special and probably expensive for what it was. Chicken pieces in Jalfrezi had previously obviously been on skewers Service was pleasant and attentive when it happened with polite staff who seemed happy. Meal nicely took a while to arrive which was a bit surprising as restaurant by no means full.

Couldn’t fault the restaurant. We’ll definitely be back again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. Wish we’d found it before...and there’s a delivery service!

Enjoyed an excellent Friday evening meal with friends. The menu is very comprehensive with very good descriptions of all the dishes. The meat is Halal and all the staff were very aware of their responsibilities with regard to potential risks from allergic reactions to various ingredients, this was very encouraging.The meals ordered were very well presented and the food was of excellent quality, the staff were attentive without being intrusive. If an intention to return again in the future is an Indication of satisfaction then suffice it to say I shall be eating here again.

We went one evening as we are contemplating a family lunchtime gathering with people coming from far away so needed to ensure that different requirements (e.g. vegetarian) were provided for.We didn't have starters on this occasion and went straight for the mains. Whilst waiting we had the prerequisite poppadoms which came with a selection of relishes. Poppadoms were fresh as were the condiment dishes.Garlic Naas/Chapati were fresh when they came with the main course, side vegetables fresh, rice lovely and separated and the main courses good. Korma sauce lovely. Try the Sundarbans Honey King Prawn-yum!Will be back for a family lunch here.Staff were attentive, service charge already added to bill so no need to tip.

Was staying in a nearby hotel and fancied a meal out. Found this place on trip advisor and based on reviews we thought we’d visit. Food was super tasty, they make it exactly to your requirements and taste preference. Staff were so friendly, and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Restaurant was clean and had a great ambience. Only negative was probably the portion size. Me and my partner ordered two curries between us and they got finished, normally we have some left over to take home. Definitely filled us up but given the price you do expect a little more. Overall, would highly recommend.

Some friends and I had been out for the evening and wanted something to eat. Our normal Indian restaurant was closed as it was late in the evening. We stumbled across The Red Fort and asked if they were still open. The young man was really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I couldn’t decide what to have so he asked me what I liked and said he would make something to suit my taste. It was amazing! Will definitely try here again, particularly as the service was so good at that time of night. If they were ready to go home they certainly didn’t make us feel that way.

This is one of the better Indian restaurants around. I last visited in April 2017 when it was Bombay Night. Food at the Red Fort was an improvement. I dined on a quiet Tuesday evening. Staff were friendly and service was good albeit slow.

We've been going to the same curry cave for ages. Thought we'd try something different. Gave TRF a go.

Instead of going to my usual Indian restaurant I decided to try The Red Fort and was not disappointed. The young man who showed us to our table was very helpful in helping us choose a selection of food to suit our palate. It was delicious and exactly the right amount. Will certainly go again.

Feisal was very friendly and offered us an excellent customer service beyond the duty of call. He simply treated us so well and in return, we visited this place more than once for dinner. Curry houses come and go but currently (May 19) this is the best balance between quality, price and service locally. My top choice is the paneer sharisha (V).

Nice place in Woking Town centre. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed (Indian music plays in the background, but it's not overwhelming). The staff is very polite, and the food is good. The menu has a great variety of dishes, from starters to mains, and everything is quite filling! Maybe is a bit pricey (you're just in town centre), but overall is a nice restaurant. They also deliver at home.

First time trying this particular restaurant and wasn’t disappointed. The staff didn’t linger after serving the dishes which is always a plus. Highly recommend the chicken madras, perfect.

Very expensive foods specially drinks are really high price . Friday night restaurant was quiet but had to wait really long long time for 2 persons food . Only 1 person was serving on the floor and service was obviously terribly worse and curry was crap and rices were clearlyserved from microwave as they were untouchable heated .
