Always love the food here when I'm in the town.

Had a takeaway from here, all I can say it was disgusting. In all my years of enjoying Indian food I can safely say this was the worst. Processed chicken like rubber, sheek kebab so hard it was inedible, my wife was violently sick in the night and she are some of the so called chicken tikka. Avoid this restaurant at all costs, how people can say its the best they have ever had amazes me, obviously never had a proper Indian meal in their life. Ours went in the bin after two mouthfuls...avoid, .

My cricket team was on a reunion weekend and had pre-booked dinner at the Chulmleigh Tandoori as we were staying in the village. The food and service were excellent, but I'm also posting this review to thank all the staff. One of our party was taken ill [NOT because of the food] and the management and staff handled the situation brilliantly. They stayed well after normal closing time to make sure that our friend had been properly taken care of, and to serve a meal to the rest of us. Cracking curries all round, with a special shout-out to the starters. It was a very strange evening for all involved, but I just wanted to credit all the staff for their help in a difficult situation. We will all be back for sure, and our mate made a full recovery. Thanks a million guys.

For some years we have bought curry from Chulmleigh Tandoori & yesterday was the best. Friends of mine buy a curry weekly but I don’t have that luxury but for Fathers Day it was a treat suggested by my eldest boy. As a family we have varied preferences for spice & every dish was really enjoyable. Thank you Shahim & your Team.

Omg, ordered a Chicken mooley. It contained an outrageous amount of salt as to make it almost inedible. Half tempted to report them to the FSA!

One of the best Indian Takeout’s I’ve come across. I arrived early/way ahead of schedule due to an easier than expected journey but they got straight on it and less than 15 minutes later I was away with our delicious food. Thank you!! :-))

Highly recommended by the owner of Park Mill Farm. Ordered a takeaway expecting to be blown away. We were but for all the wrong reasons. The onion bhaji were OK but the actual curry was bland with absolutely no taste and looked like gravy. Chicken was ok. Ordered coconut rice but I think they just decided to throw other things in as well. Do not waste your money

All I can say is wow, parked right outside the door, clean and inviting, service was excellent (especially the 2 young lads, attentive and professional) nothing was too much trouble, food was excellent quality and plentiful, will definitely visit again when in this part of the world.

Food was spot on, tasty and fresh, chicken was tender and plenty of sauce had the rogan josh and bhuna not full of onions like other restaurants, definitely need to book a table for Friday and Saturday, we were on a week's holiday and ended up eating there 3 x times and was not disappointed on each occasion

Rubbish meal ..even pappadums soft. Barely any meat. Never had such a bland Indian meal. Kebabs and bhajis burnt .would have been better off buying from a supermarket 😕 Full refund given today thank you and restored my confidence 🙏

First time that we have used Chulmleigh Tandoori for a take away that we collected. Food and service was excellent, will definitely be returning and looking forward to dining in. Just wish they delivered!

I've eaten here many times and the food is always great as is the service. If you're looking for a decent Indian, then these folks won't let you down.

The food is incredible you can tell immediately that the owner and staff really care about providing an outstanding experience each and every time you visit! I honestly couldn’t rate this establishment higher in my opinion it’s one of very few places in Devon that I keep going back to and look forward to. If you haven’t tried the food you’re doing yourself and injustice it’s a must especially if you live in the area!!

We had amazing service!! Our food was wonderful, everything tasted delicious, and some lovely decor.

We had pilau rice and boiled rice both good. The Lamb Rogan Josh had plenty of meat in it but the sauce was very watery and lacked any depth of flavour. The Paswarmi Nan was fresh but no taste of apple only coconut.

Always top class service and food. I can't recommend this place any higher. Fantastic for families, groups and couples.

Food and customer service is fantastic, a while back I had to wait a fair while after my pick up time so as an apology I got given a free alcoholic drink. I've always taken away so I can't comment for eating in but basing it our experiences can't fault it

Visited on the last of a 3 night stay in Chulmliegh. A lovely small restaurant. Everything cooked from scratch. As we're vegan they adapted their recipes to accommodate this. Food was prompt, delicious and staff were very friendly and welcoming. If we come back anywhere near the place in future we'll definitely be dining here again.

I only visited trip advisor to pull off the number to book for the weekend and I was intrigued by several less than positive reviews. We've been going there for about seven years both to eat in and for takeaways (especially during COVID). Great place, brilliant food and friendly and attentive staff. Living in Devon but working often in London I've experienced a number of well known and highly acclaimed Indian Restaurants "in town" and these aren't a patch on the Chumleigh Tandori. The decor may be a little dated but give me good food and good service at reasonable prices over paint any time!

Great service, young boys in there were so friendly and everyone looked after us from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. The owner is a lovely man PLUS if you want to experience great Indian food then go to the Chulmleigh Tandoori :))

Poppadoms, dazu köstliche Saucen als Start Dann tolle Hauptgerichte frisch gekocht.. Mein Liebling : Chefs Balti . Die Hälfte der Familie sind Vegetarier und kommen genauso auf ihre Kosten mit Bindi Baji, Linsen Dhal oder Spinat oder frittierte Zwiebeln. Dazu Pilau Reis oder Knoblauch Brot. Über Kalorien wollen wir hier nicht diskutieren... Jedenfalls platzen wir am Ende immer fast. Staying in Chulmleigh for a week, we decided to get a carry out on our first night. Cautiously we opted for 3 starters. The staff were friendly and the food outstanding. As curry eaters for 50yrs we were delighted to have found such a fantastic restaurant in Chulmleigh. Curries not as hot as we are used to in Scotland, however I can highly recommend the following - Chicken Chat, Chicken Tuk Tuk, Chicken Tikka, Chicken Rezala. We have had curries 3 nights thats how good the food is. Highly recommend.

Devons hidden gem, found via Trip adviser while on holiday here in Chulmleigh. Despite the restrictions due to COVID the service was efficient and friendly. Great menu choices and good value. Clean and felt safe, you know what I mean. Food freshly cooked and adjusted...

The Owner and Staff here are Very Friendly and Attentive. The Food is Good and served with a Smile and Draught Cobra is a Bonus!! Takeaway is also available here, but they do not deliver. Their Menu Choice is extensive and the prices are very reasonable. Well worth a visit.

Wide range or dishes and flavours, with good service - they cope very well with couples up to large parties, your meal will arrive hot and accurate. If you like things hot let the owner know as they will then cook for your palette. Own version of lime pickle with your popadams is a highlight of any selection. Gets very busy so be sure to book - take away is available but unfortunately not delivery.

Wen't a few weeks back with some friends and food was well worth the money! Staff were very friendly and accommodating to our needs. Food had so much flavor in. Would recommend to anyone looking to try Indian food!

We are from London and it was my first time in Devon with my partner. Amazing place to visit and to be honest we found the best Indian restaurant. Food was simply fantastic: onion bahji, prawn puri, lamb chana, rice with lemon, prawn pathia, sag aloo and naan to finish. Homemade cooking and presented amazingly. Tasty with great flavour and very generous portions. Great place. Fully recommended it. You won't be disappointed.

This place is brilliant! The food is delicious and the staff are very welcoming, the restaurant is very clean and has a lovely atmosphere with nice soft music playing in the background, would highly recommend a visit.

The staff were so helpful, said they could adapt the food to my needs, when the food came it was very tasty. Staff very attentive, but not over the top. Would definitely go back and recommend to others.

Good food, probably the best keema rice I have tasted. It's a shame the night was spoiled by drunk locals demanding food, swearing and generally upsetting everyone else. Chap on the front desk doing his best to get these idiots out, but then more turn up. I guess it goes with the territory as it's the only Indian for miles, but I won't be going back. As for the Devon drunks, stop ruining your restaurants. You clearly can't hold your beer so stop acting like you can.

Always a warm welcome from Shamin here and the food is delicious. Buffet night is exceptional as it is great value for your money. My children from Surrey came down and were totally amazed at the quality and the value. Worth a visit

Had a takeaway from here this week. Had 2x chicken tikka masala with rice. 1 had 8 cubes of chicken and the other only had 5!! The tikka was very watery and the water was even separating from the sauce on ours plates. Probably won't bother going there again.

This isn’t the curry mile or Mile End. If you need a spice fix, then this place is perfect. Not too greasy, not too fussy and certainly not too pricey. Good service, flavoursome, non oily food.

A good Indian restaurant which seems to be popular with the locals and having the benefit of opening early in the evening, visited with a friend and had two different and enjoyable meals.

Before I get into why I've rated this place so low, I want to say something positive. The food was perfect, I couldn't fault it.

Very low quality curries, not spicy nor authentic. The selection of curries we ordered were bland and seriously lacked any sort of Indian flavours. Atmosphere was uncomfortable and the staff were playing on their phones, very unprofessional. Over priced menu based on the quality of the dishes. The interior is out-dated and needs some work.

We ate here twice during our recent holiday, and had two very good meals. Service friendly, prices reasonable. Surprising to find this type of restaurant in a small place in Devon, but we enjoy curries and would recommend.

Doubled dated here with some friends last month who live in another unfortunate Hot Fuzz village nearby. I just want to start by saying I have eaten all over the world especially in Asia. Curry is my favourite go to dish so I was looking forward to this meal seeing the high score on here.

We had a takeaway for a group of five and two of us were vegan. Happy to cook everything to order in oil rather than ghee and highlight anything with dairy in it. Food was fantastic, even the sides were delicious, and we got an absolute feast for about £11 a head. Will definitely be returning.

A very small restaurant in this quiet country village. Good quality Indian food, friendly service and a nice atmosphere.

Went here for a 'romantic' meal for two. There was one other couple finishing their meal as we arrived. We went to sit at a table for four rather than a table for two as there was more space to be told we had to sit at a table for two - the place was completely empty other than the other couple. We were then offered another table for four to sit.

We wanted to try this local restaurant, and the last minute need for a takeaway provided the opportunity. The staff were efficient, but surly; probably just inexperienced. Not a particularly inviting atmosphere. Not somewhere to spend the evening. The food was un-memorable.

I am allergic to garlic so when I go here to eat they go out of their way to make sure I have a dish made especially without in and I always enjoy the dish

Food was at best ordinary, with not that much choice on the buffet. Got a takeaway for teenagers at home with the dog, and couldn't believe the raita was just yoghurt slopped onto cucumber, without any flavouring. What a shame - we were looking forward to it after reading good reviews and staying very locally. The onion bhajis were the best thing we tried.

This was the nearest Indian Takeaway to where we staying on a short break. The menu is extensive and we both went for one of their specials... sadly nothing special about either of them. No spice, no kick, nothing distinguishable about any of it. Mine was more like a casserole. We didn't even finish all of what we ordered. The worst Indian we've ever had. Not recommended!

Very disappointing visit. Owner or person in charge had a very abrupt attitude, although serving staff very friendly. Has lamb and chicken and both were tough and undercooked moreover tasted like jars of ready made sauce had been poured over. (Saw staff pouring pickles from a catering jar to serve with popadoms). Another dish of king prawns were not king!! Moreover each had been butterflied to make quantity look more.

Have had many takeaways from here and it's been ok. This time I decided to try eating in the restaurant and it was excellent.

I don't understand negative reviews for food that is always very good. The staff are always very friendly and provide advice on menu when requested. Service is prompt and it is good value for money. What more do some people want?

What can I say. We were invited by friends who are regulars and spoke highly of this restaurant. We tasted way much better Indian food in UK and other countries. We were not impressed with the service either. We thought it was bordering to rude. Will we go back? Certainly not, even when we're desperately craving for Indian cuisine.

Small restaurant in lovely little village, very clean with all there awards and certificates on the wall to prove it we were served promptly, friendly attentive staff and the food we choose from the buffet on offer Tuesdays and Thursdays was very good indeed, great value at £8.95 for all you could eat
