The best restaurants serving Indian food in England

Ordered a takeaway, 3 meals all poor, small bones in the chicken,tough chicken,bland lamb and spinach...wouldn't go again.

Have been a few times and each time the food and service have been impeccable. Arif is a true gentleman. Will definitely recommend highly. Karl

My Dad and I visited the area to explore Rendlesham Forest’s UFO Trail (a dream of ours for a long time). When Googling restaurants in which to eat, Shapla came up as a top-rated place so we decided we’d give it a go. The restaurant was lovely and cozy and we had a warm welcome. The restaurant was busy with customers but it wasn’t overly loud or rowdy. Service was quick and the food was absolutely delicious (we both had the chicken balti masala, a lovely mix we have never come across before) and we loved that the waiters really took the time to chat to us about the local area. Thank you, Shapla, if we ever happen to be in the area again, we wouldn’t hesitate to come back!

I have been eating Indian / Bangladeshi food for 62 years I am on a golf holiday with friends.As I enjoy spicy dishes I looked on Tripadvisor for recommendations of this restaurant. There were excellent reviews so decided to give it a try. When you arrive the restaurant looks a bit tired from the outside. Don't let this put you off. The greeting we received when we entered was excellent. There was a very varied and extensive menu. I know most Curries start of with the same gravy and other spices added. We started with poppadoms and chutney freshly cooked poppadoms not oily. The four dishes we ordered came .Nice size portions and all really tasty . I ordered Bombay chicken,back in the day it normally was a chicken portion on the bone with a boiled egg and potato. New style is diced chicken. Tasty all the same. I also ordered pashwari nann this was the best nann I have ever tasted. It's a pity I live so far from this restaurant otherwise I would be a regular customer. Would certainly recommend this place for polite pleasant service an excellent food

We have just had our first takeaway from Cinnamon. Well, it was amazing. The meat madras I had was the perfect heat, the meat fell apart and was so tender. The Nawabi Khana my husband and son ate disappeared quickly and they both agreed it was just as amazing as mine. They popped some extras in the bag and I say thank you for that. It was a lovely surprise. The portions were very plentiful. And despite certainly trying, I could not finish, but hey, guess whats for tea tomorrow.😀 the meal arrived before the eta and the driver was so lovely and polite. I can safely say that this is our new regular and we will be back again and again. I didn’t get time to get pictures as it was dived into too quickly. I certainly recommend you try Cinnamon, you won’t be disappointed. Thank you so much Cinnamon.

My third time here... last two were very poor experiences and this one, well a bit better, but really they need to do something about their portions which are tiny. My wife, because of her dietary needs, asked them to remove several items from a dish as she cannot eat them but instead of increasing the main dish (a dahl) they simply brought their usual small portion without any of the other items (bread, salad, bahji, etc) and charged the same. It was very funny to see a tiny spoonful of dahl in a bowl and be asked to pay £13. At least the food was fairly warm unlike the previous two visits when it was cold.

Brilliant meal and food ! The decor may be tired and the layout a little school dinner hall but put that to one side as the food is something special. We had a range of dishes as starters and they were soon cleared though, with the mains all being eaten and everyone enjoyed their dishes. A rice portion would be fine for two people but it all depends how hungry you are! There’s an outdoor BBQ out back which is fired up on a Sunday with lots of outdoor seating. Will certainly be returning soon.

Excellent food as always, I've been going to Saras for many years and will continue to go, definitely the best curry in Harrow and probably the whole of London! You won't be disappointed. Classic order pairing, Chicken Tikka Biryani and Lamb Rogan Josh. The lamb is always so fresh and tender. Highly recommended.

Quite a disappointing meal considering the rating and reviews... as mentioned, this is now called Indian Pakwaan. We opted for our usual bottle of prosecco, poppadoms/pickles and a main. Plus points are prompt and courteous attention, but some knowledge of the drinks variable would be beneficial. Also the prices seem quite reasonable. Poppadoms tasted burned and the pickles weren't nice, everything laced with caraway seed. My main was a chicken madras, it was OK, far from up there with the best but it wasn't bad... not much meat in it though. My wife's chicken tikka masala on the otherhand was awful. Oddly hotter than my madras, tasted quite acrid wasn't the red colour with hinted sweetness the dish is supposed to be. Not enjoyable at all.

It always seems that when you go into the restaurant and have table service It lives up to its name delicious I've been using this place for years But recently it's not that good especially home delivery Last 3 deliveries haven't been great So I'm going somewhere else for now hopefully it will improve I'm guessing it's been taken over and when we said we wanted to pay by card they didn't like it I smell a 🐀 Tbh Bye bye delicious you've run your course with me

as usual a fantastic dining experience all food freshly cooked and quality,alam and staff/family are on the ball nothing too much trouble karon and i would recommend the jewel of mumbai to everyone,it might take a little longer to be served when busy but worth it chill out its worth waiting for

En realidad no fuimos allí, pedimos. La comida llegó en un buen momento como se indica. El conductor era muy amable y educado. La comida era buena. Hemos pedido de algunas comidas para llevar en los últimos años y esto fue diferente y lo que yo diría es el sabor más auténtico que habíamos estado buscando. El curry vegetal era sabroso y mi compañera disfrutó de su curry de pollo medio. El arroz también estaba muy bien, cocinado muy bien. El plato de cortesía era un plato de arroz dulce con pudín. El mejor pudín de arroz que he probado, debería estar en el menú, como mucho de eso, tan sabroso. No hay quejas de nuestra parte y estamos pidiendo algunos platos diferentes esta noche para ver cómo son. OK, estoy pidiendo más pudín de arroz esperanzado jajaja Pruébalos, no deberías decepcionarte. 👍😀

Been coming here for getting on 3 years. It used to be immense. Has changed ownership now and the quality of the food and service has severely deteriorated and price gone up significantly. Just ordered our usual order which includes honey chilli chips to be charged for honey chilli chicken. Queried and was told the order had been repeated back, not true, my wife is vegetarian and would never order this. Explained we had been coming here for 3 years or so but was basically told hard luck and re charged for an additional chilli chips. I will be giving my custom to the red lion from now on. Avoid!

The best Indian food that I have experienced in my 18 years in Yorkshire. The Chicken Naga is the best dish I have ever had and the varki was beautiful too Everything was so flavourful and fresh. My new go to takeaway. Thank you guys 👌 Terry.
