Bengal tiger in Maldon

We ate at this restaurant last night. Both the food and service were great. The staff were attentive. Mother-in-law said it was the best Indian she had ever had. Will definitely return.

Love this place been meaning to do a review but been busy over the Xmas period. Had lovely food a few weeks back can’t complain. As always . Quick delivery and in Witham. Thank u guys as always. If u ain’t had food from here then please do. Need a visit to the restaurant it’s been way to long.

we have used the Bengal Tiger for some time now but recently the standard of food has improved. It wasn't bad before but now it is even better. Yesterday we decided on an Indian takeaway but were bored with the same old chicken dishes so went for the lamb instead. Now I don't know where they get their lamb from, but it is literally melt in your mouth delicious. The whole meal was excellent and I will also mention the Nann bread, again delicious, so well done to all concerned.

Have been looking for a decent Indian takeaway in the area for a while and this is it!! From the minute they answered the call the staff were lovely welcoming and helpful. The food was amazing myself and my son both 100% satisfied and going to bed full belly and content 😎😃 will be ordering again

Ordered a home delivery for my dad's birthday. Mixed grill £17.95 consisting of 5 pieces of over cooked dry meat. This was supposed to be for 2. Salad was a small plastic bag of lettuce, quater of a tomato and I slice of cucumber. 2 chicken tikka masalas were a pot of sauce with 4 bits of chewy chicken in one and 5 bits in the other. Onion bhaji' were the thinnest greasyiest I've ever seen. Phoned up to ask if there had been a mistake with the mixed grill as so small. After a long discussion and explaining we were told well we didn't pay 17.95 for it as there was a discount. No apology nothing to compensate it just wasn't for 2 people despite the quality of it. Go somewhere else would be my advise!

I ordered a takeaway from here and will say that it arrived very quickly however when it arrived one of the meals (pictured below) that is advertised as a £17.95 Tandoori mixed grill dish, had about 4 pieces in and when we phoned up giving them the benefit of the doubt and thinking there had been a mistake to then be told that the meal isn’t £17.95 on their menu and it’s the size it is because just eat discounted it. We proceeded to look at their menu which had the discount ‘40% off when you spend over £30’ (so it wasn’t just eat that had done it) and the meal we had ordered priced at £17.95. I am absolutely appalled that we have not only payed a ridiculous amount of money for the food we received but we were also lied to about the reasons behind it. I will definitely not be returning here and expect a refund as most of the food we got was also inedible and went in the bin.

Ordered a fantastic meal from here, being new to the area tried it. As a lover of Indian food the food was excellent. Also, the delivery driver is was friendly and helpful as we are on a new estate. If I had cash on me I would have tipped! Definitely will next time, 100% returning!

Family visit, all of us meeting for the first time after over a year. First night open for this restaurant too. A splendid time spent here with very good varied menu. Quality of the food was excellent and service friendly and speedy. Very ample portions, so asked for "doggy bags" to take excess away, this was cheerfully done for us. Highly recommended.

We ordered a lovely takeaway to be delivered, it said it had been delivered but we hadn’t received our call in the hotel, only to realise that after I had accidentally given the wrong number, they kindly left it at reception. Extremely happy with the food that arrived, thank you so much!! Will return!

Wouldn’t usually post a negative review but was disappointed by the takeaway delivered. Unfortunately food delivered was cold by the time it got to us, and we ordered a tikka that turned up with 4 tiny pieces of chicken breast that cost over £5 we were disappointed with this dish especially. Korma however was lovely, shame about the rest. Hope it’s better next time.

Had a delivery several months ago and a rice was missing, had the same last night along with no salad issued with the starters, called and was advised to leave a comment as they were busy, basically saying, we are busy and not willing to come back to Maldon for a bit of salad, when stating that my rice was missing also, they delivered 20 mins later, the meal cost 60 pounds, and was disappointing, coconut rice had no taste, meat madras was not spicy at all, starters were just 4 pieces of tikka in a silver tray, no salad and 1 pot of sauce for 3 starters.....‍♂️ wife enjoyed her meal

Perfect food as always can’t complain, as of yet. Delivery is so quick even to witham. The driver/drivers are so polite always happy to tip. Young lady tonight very polite all Covid rules applied from her,thank u guys keep up the good work. Support everyone through this time and leave reviews. Can’t wait to get back in the restaurant take away are great but enjoy been in there hard workers polite friendly staff always there to help and had some new dishes which recommended from the staff thank u guys... honey chicken starter if u ain’t tried it get it such lovely tender chicken. Well they have lots of good reviews so this must have just been a bad night. My takeaway was pretty awful. The samosas were the oddest I’ve ever had. One bite was enough so God knows what was in them. It looked like a very pale paste. The rest, chicken dupiaza, sag aloo and mushroom bhaji were very under seasoned and tasteless and the naan tasted burnt. The chicken was very tender bit that’s 5he only good 5hing I can say. To add insult to injury it was incredibly expensive. Even with a 20% discount these five items were £23. £8 more than I usually pay. Never again.

Another great night in the recently renovated Bengal. Jazz the manager welcoming as always, the team are polite and very helpful. The food was top quality. Cantbwaur for lockdown to to be over to have another great meal out. Thanks to the team from Jim Julie Alan and Janet

Came here with friends for dinner and had a really good meal. The food was well cooked and well priced. The staff were friendly and polite. I would happily eat here again.

Well another Sunday and what to eat?We'll have an Indian, says my wife.So we do and the Bengal Tiger comes up trumps again.The delivery is spot on. No waiting around for ages. You order and as soon as it's cooked it's delivered hot.As for the food, delicious. It doesn't matter what you order, and we've tried various, off the menu they come up trumps every time and there is always plenty of it.Well done all concerned and thank you for another superb meal.

What a load of slop. Soft soggy king prawns. Absolute load of rubbish. The Tandori prawns my god,were soggy soft and cold,huge amount of red food colouring, even after washing my hands the dye won't come out. I really don't know how people can rate this 5 star. I've had some beautiful Indian meals. This is definitely one of the worst. Never again.

The food at bengal tiger has always been lovely but lately the prices do not seem to reflect the correct amounts?! Prices are almost double... then 50% off if you want a takeaway. Almost seems a bit fishy as if they don’t want you in the restaurant

After having several delivery’s we finally manage to get a baby sitter and take the older kids for a sit down meal been are first time to go in to the restaurant and not been any where since the lock down the staff made it pleasant Sociel distance was laid out according to the rules. We wasn’t rushed with food the staff were so friendly and the food was amazing service was quick just like it’s been with delivery’s I have no complaints. Clean and tidy very helpful. I highly recommended this place can’t wait to go again. The family from Witham would like to Thank u guys for a great meal the other Sunday all of us loved it and couldn’t of asked for anything more u are all amazing top quality food and service goes to use all. My wife decided she wanted a Indian takeaway on Sunday and there is only one place to get it from, The Bengal Tiger in Heybridge. Once more we were not disappointed with the food or the service. It arrived several minutes earlier than asked for, but hey who's complaining. My wife went for the Balti mixed special and having tasted it I wish I had, There's always next time. Once more there was more food than we could eat in one go so Indian again today. So on behalf of my wife and myself cheers to all at the Bengal Tiger for a superb meal or should I say meals.

Just fantastic I use this restaurant weekly for takeaway and delivery, we have never had a bad meal, the food is always excellent and delivery service is great, the food is hot and very good quality, great service and great food. What more can you ask for

Ordered a takeaway during lockdown. Was expecting 45mins for delivery as advised ont he phone, driver arrived in 20mins! Food was lovely and plenty of it, staff on phone and driver were very pleasant and social distancing was observed. will definately use again.

Sunday afternoon and we fancied an Indian so trawled the available Indians in our area and as always went to the Bengal Tiger in Heybridge. Ordered and in what seemed no time at all our meal turned up piping hot. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent, and I mean all of it. So well done to all concerned at the Bengal Tiger and thank you for a superb meal. we will return.

After being in lockdown for a few weeks, fancied a little treat so Indian takeaway , ordered from Bengal tiger , staff helpful on phone and delivery 30 mins , but unfortunately food was a major disappoint, small portions and tasteless, we couldn't taste difference between Korma, massarla and bhuna . Great service but food not good enough.

Had a takeaway delivered last night and it was delicious. Everything was really nice we all really enjoyed it. Great price too, will definitely order again. Delivery was quick too.

Due to the current problems we ordered a takeaway to be delivered. Despite the wait time given (1 1.5 hours) we ordered a delivery which arrived after an hour. Food was to a good standard all tasted nice with no complaints from any of us, will definitely order from here again.

Dined here two nights ago with a few friends for a birthday party. Booked beforehand. Upon arrival we were greeted and seated very swiftly by a lovely waiter. All the staff were pleasantly welcoming and really made sure we enjoyed our night. Food was amazing! We asked for spice levels to be increased on all our dishes and the chef did it to perfection. The chilli chicken biryani and chicken jalfrezi curry in particular was delicious. The service was above average, staff often came up to our table to ensure everything was going well and we felt thoroughly looked after-ed. Everything was decently priced . My friends and I all agreed that we would definitely return. This place is super relaxed, comfortable and perfect for nights out.

I ordered a Chicken Tikka Dansak takeaway and it was AWFUL! The Dansak sauce had the constituency of mashed potato and tasted about the same and the chicken was dry and tough. Although I was starving it was just too bad to eat so I took it back and was given a Lamb Pathia as a replacement which tasted exactly the same as the Dansak, bland and tasteless but by that time I was too tired to bother going back to complain again.

The Tiger was next door to our hotel, and too convenient not to try out. It was decently busy for a Tuesday night, and the food explained why. We had fairly mainstream stuff - poppadoms and pickles, bhajis, tandoori chicken and a particularly nice dopiaza - all of which came promptly, fresh hot and very tasty. This place has no false pretences, just dedicated to being a solid and satisfying Indian restaurant, and it does the job very well.

We decided, on a whim, to have a Indian on Sunday afternoon and as this restaurant was open away we went. We were not disappointed either. The service was spot on, not to distant and not to fussy. The food was excellent and the right amount, we both cleared our plates, no doggy bags for us. The Sunday deal they do is a good idea and we will be taking advantage of it again in the future.

Great food - best Indian food around. Good selection, fast delivery. I would recomend delivery drivers use a warm bag or such like to stop the food going cold. A few times food has been lukewarm when arrived.

Great customer service and brilliant food. Went for mother’s day celebration. Even thou it’s a buffet on a Sunday it’s all freshly cooked to order from menu and there is something on menu for everyone food had great taste and lots of flavour. We will definitely be back again soon.

We have eaten in at Bengal Tiger many times and have never been disappointed. We decided to have a takeaway for the first time last night as they had live music on and we wanted a quiet evening with friends. Was told it would take an hour to arrive, which we thought was a bit slow but it came in about half that time, and everything was delicious. Great value, couldn't fault it.

We went as as a table of 8 and found the food very watery not much choice and rice dry and bland

The feel of the restaurant was great however the food just wasn't very nice and the staff were not the most friendly people. We wont be back.

We visited as a family on a Saturday night about 6:30 .so the restaurant was virtually empty only two or three other tables occupied yet still the service was poor we had to remind the waiter about drinks. Find missing food. nobody seemed interested. this whole business seems to be based around takeaways . we will not be coming back.

Had heard good things about the food from my daughter who is local so decided as a TasteCard holder to try it out , booked table as per the TasteCard Provisions for 4 people at 8pm on Tues 28th August . Explained we would be using taste cards and no limits were advised . Taste cards website shows its a maximum of 6 people . The restaurant has a car park at the rear with some old wrecks parked but still has space for up to a dozen cars . Entering it was quite darkly lit , no background music and the atmosphere was a bit flat really . It was empty save our two friends and staff . Pleasant waitress seated us and ordered drinks and poppadum's . Confirmed Tastecard use , and although two of us had them , she said we only need done , leaving me to assume that it would be 2 for 1 as pr the taste card site , with noting to contrary on the restaurant website . They were served with an average set of dips , starters of Prawn Butterfly , Tandoori Prawns , Chicken Pakoras and a Bengal Tikka Roll came soon after , pleasant enough taste , portions average . Mains arrived soon after , Chicken Pasanda , Chicken Tikka Masala , King Prawn Delight and Chicken Naga , 4 Pilau Rice and two naan . The Pasanda and Prawn sauces were similar colours , The Chicken Tikka had definitely been BBQ'd in the tandoori ,which often its not . The Naga had a nice punch to it . Good size portions of meat in the meat dishes , Prawns looked ok . All of us were good eaters and felt suitably fed with the portions sizes , no complaints about the taste of the dishes , but nothing to rave about in honesty , having driven from Chelmsford especially . The bill came and it was with 4 drinks £86 , that with £10 taken off for the taste card use which was not 2 for 1 x 2 .

Used Bengal for our takeaways since it opened.Food usually very good but this time very different.Very bland and tasteless, very watery.Only good thing was the naan bread.Hopefully this was just a one off and the chef was having a bad day, unless another chef has come in.We will use again so will give them another chance but then that’s it.Plenty more Indian takeaways around.

We come here as a family and everytime the staff are friendly and the food is always of a great quality and tastes fresh and delicious. This is the Indian restaurant that all others are compared too and each time the Bengal Tiger is superior. They cater for my dietary requirements with no issues which is reassuring when going out for as often places are not. We will be back for sure.

Having lost our favourite Indian restaurant in Witham we have been searching for a new place for our Indian fix. I think we have found it. Very attentive staff and an interesting menu, big bold flavours and they are always willing to modify the heat or size of any dish.

From the outside the Bengal Tiger looks quite nice but when we walked in the restaurant was deserted and the takeaway staff and customers stared at us. The decor reminded us of a Little Chef diner, the floor needed a good vacuum and the heating obviously wasn't working because there were electric heaters dotted about but it was still very cold. Having said that, the food and service was very good although the table was pretty grim and needed a clean. Maybe next time we will just get a takeaway.

Toda la comida estaba caliente, fresco, el restaurante estaba limpia y el servicio perfecto. Yo comeré de nuevo. Muy cerca de ser y estar. Bouchon Tiene para llevar.

Fuimos al Tigre de Bengala en Heybridge para celebrar nuestro aniversario de boda. El ambiente era muy relajado y no teníamos prisa para nuestra orden, con un montón de tiempo entre platos. La comida era muy sabrosa y a diferencia de algunos restaurantes indios no era nadar en salsa. En general una velada muy agradable.

I've been here a couple of time ,and that was my mistake ,because it come down from bad to worst ,the plates are not cleaned , the food it came out cold ,the staff was very rude refusing to deal with the problem by ignoring me and on top of that when we left they didn't even apologise , as if I was suppose to do that.

Take away Sunday for the family tonight..considering the kids have never eaten Indian food. We had.2.clean plates

Consistently good and value for money. I live in Danbury and use this place for regular takeaways. The food is always decent quality and reasonably priced. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Hace poco visitamos aquí como un grupo donde tuvimos una comida buffee. Había un montón de comer con una gran variedad de platos, todos sabrosos y a un precio excelente. Este parece un lugar que si estás en la zona debería darle una oportunidad, usted podría ser sorprendido.

Servicio amable y servicial, la comida agradable ambiente genial con todos los favoritos usuales y algunas otras especialidades.

The exterior of the Bengal Tiger looks a little tired and the car park at the rear isn't very inviting (rotting old Ferrari!) but don't be put off. Once you are inside the welcome and the decor is great. Added to great service and delicious food, this is a restaurant we will be happy to return to

Bengal Tiger is run by the same family who run The Balti in Maldon, the buffer they run on a Sunday is superb, all you can eat for around £9 + drinks. I only ever visit on a Sunday, there drinks can be a bit pricey, but considering the buffet price you can't complain!

Visited as a party of 6 in the week before Christmas and were surprised how quiet it was. Despite the time of year we were offered the special deal of a starter, main and side for £10.95. Portions were smaller as a result but plenty for a meal and very tasty. The meal was completed by a complimentary drink. Service was friendly and would visit again

(Emily Sandé) The Bengal Tiger, Heybridge, MaldonIt was Thursday evening, the ladies were out for dinner, so once again it fell to we two men to go for a sneaky curry. In the past we'd (successfully) tried Live Dosa in Chelmsford and Saffron in Rayleigh. This time the ladies were dining in Danbury, so we headed over to the Bengal Tiger at Heybridge, just outside Maldon; it had received good reviews on Tripadvisor and I had a 'Taste' card that gave 2 for 1 meals - it would be rude not to! I phoned ahead but were advised that we didn't need to book, and as we arrived (at 7pm) the place was empty, and cold, my friend didn't take his quilted jacket off through the whole meal. I advised the waiter that we had a taste card, the taste card app suggested it was two for one on mains and starters, but the waiter insisted that we had to order starter, main and side. Okay, whatever. My friend ordered the Prawn Puree starter - which came folded, but jammed full of juicy prawns, while I ordered the tandoori lamb chops - delicious but just two small chops. For mains we both went for the Chilli Chicken Tikka Biryani. Normally I request the accompanying vegetable curry to be madras heat, but as this was 'chilli' I didn't. The biryani itself was tasty enough, with a good handful of green 'bird' chillis chopped through it. I regretted not asking for the hotter vegetables though. The waiter tried the inevitable up-sell (I watch 'The Apprentice') - would we like Naan bread? I pointed out that the menu said that the Chilli Chicken Tikka Biryani came with a plain paratha, and he commented that he'd never noticed that. Hmmm. Sides were saag bhaji and mattar paneer (cheesey peas), but tasty enough. My friend was driving, so had a small bottle of Cobra beer, while I had a large bottle of Kingfisher. We finished with a couple of coffees. And so to the bill, somehow, despite the 'two for one' offer we still ended up paying a little shy of twenty quid each, but couldn't be bothered to question the calculations. Given that, (but for three 'youngsters' who devoured their meals while we drank our coffee), we were the only customers that evening - the waiters were cashing up as we left at about nine thirty - they won't be getting rich on that night's takings. This observation may be a little harsh as nearby Maldon were holding their Christmas shopping evening, but to be honest, we won’t be returning to try again.

Had a few curries here and never disappoints. Good selection of speciality dishes and today went for the jalapeño jalfrezi, the naga dish rocks too.Waiters great with the kids, even gave them a complimentary dessert. Cold cobra. Nice wine. Good service. Asta la vista

I come to Maldon almost every 4-6 weeks on business. I have sampled most everything the town has to offer, but I find myself coming to Bengal Tiger to visit with my wonderful hosts Arabi and Tof every time I visit. If you do not know exactly what to pick from the menu, just tell them what tastes you like and they will pick a dish that suits your pallet. Always friendly and always a great help. I tell my friends in Houston about the Bengal Tiger in Maldon, who ever would have thought that such a gem of a dining experience could be found in this small town!

I took my mum, dad and partners hear whilst staying at steeple bay caravan site, it was absolutely delicious, we all enjoyed our meal and service was lovely. When we are in the area again we will 100% be booking up a table.Thank you very much "Bengal TIger", we will be back.

Having previously had a nice take away delivered and, reading the reviews,, I took my wife here for dinner on a Sunday evening expecting great things....Well how wrong could I be!! We arrived just after 7pm, there were no customers in at all. We were sat down with no welcome and given a drinks menu. We spotted a 12 station Bain Marie but as all the pots were floating we wasn't sure if it was buffet or a la carte. I need to point out the phone did not stop ringing for take aways (this is very relevant soon).A waiter came over and took our drinks order, a diet coke & a lemonade. As he took the order he then answered the phone.Our drinks arrived after the 3 minute call, flat & luke warm. I asked for some ice, he answered the phone. We waited...every time we thought we might get served the phone rang, he answered...After 10 minutes of waiting another waiter appeared, he put 2 plates on the table next to the Bain Marie station. He wandered off to answer the phone. He returned quite quickly and said "buffet", oh I replied it is just buffet? He looked at me blankly. We ventured over to the buffet, 12 pots of lucky dip as there was no information as to what was being served. We quickly realised this food had probably been sat in here most of the day.The 1st waiter/phone answerer reappeared and asked if we would like a menu, yes I said and the ice please, he went and, yes you guessed it, answered the phone. My wife walked over to the reception, where 2 gentlemen had arrived to collect an order, and picked up the menu. Panic appeared to set in. A 3rd waiter appeared, this was mainly to serve the 2 men their food and take yet another call.We had now been in there 20 minutes and decided enough was enough, we said we were leaving, both drinks virtually untouched as there was still no ice. We had to pay for these drinks, rather than argue and wait for yet another call I did, by card. This was really frowned upon as it seemed to use up one of their phone lines....Clearly very busy for take aways, appalling if you a customer in the restaurant.

I visited in July 2015 after reading the great reviews. The restaurant was fairly quiet for a Saturday night but the food was wonderful! We ate dansak, prawn dopiaza, chicken mukhani, and chicken tikka. I was wondering what to order and the waiter kindly gave me an extra mini curry to try! Very kind of him. All the food was delicious, we will definitely be returning.

Last night my wife and I ate at the bengal tiger in heybridge maldon, and as on our previous visits there we were certainly not disappointed the food is always excellent staff are really friendly and helpful fantastic service and great value I would thoroughly recomend this restaurant excellent.

Cannot thank the staff enough for a fantastic time last night for my husbands 40th celebrations!The food was amazing as they did a great Buffett style meal for 28 of us and it was such great value for money. We was invited by some friends to come out for dinner at the Bengal Tiger. It was a table for 10 including 6 kids. Was very impressed with how the staff helped us to entertain the kids and they very much enjoyed their time in this restaurant. The meal was a set price of £15 for adults and half price for the kids and we could order anything from the menu, yep anything, obviously without ordering too much to consume. We was able to order half portions too so that we could try more different things from the menu. Lastly, wow, the food was really first class as was the service. Can't wait to go back.

It was clear as soon as the poppadoms and and absolutely delicious homemade chutneys and sauces arrived that coming here had been a very wise choice indeed. Everything we ordered tasted light and fresh and was cooked to perfection. My chicken korai was meltingly good, and my husband's lamb balti was a flavourful delight. I always order sag aloo - and the Bengal Tiger's was one of the very best I've tasted. The staff were friendly, knowledgable and informative without being at all overbearing. I've eaten in many, many Indian restaurants and this one is superb.

Hands down this is the best Indian meal I have ever had. We have visited a lot of Indian restuarants in the past but none even come close to this.The food is amazing, the staff are friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere is great.We went on a Friday night with our young son and the food was just amazing. Such large portions that I ended up taking mine home with me.The prices are really reasonable.All round brilliant restuarant. Definitely the best in Essex.

We visited a couple of days ago, and what an experience. The staff were attentive, and the food was amazing. Normally when you go to an indian restaurant and ask for Veg Samosas, you get pastry filled with peas and potatoes, not here though, the veg samosa actually had veg in it....which was a pleasant surprise.

Can't believe I live a 10 minute walk away from this restaurant and hadn't visited till now. Tried the Sunday Buffet. I was a bit apprehensive with 2 children, one who doesn't like anything spicy, but she was soon tucking into the poppadums and tried several options from the buffet. The whole family loved the experience. Good selection of very tasty food and at a very reasonable price. Rest assured we'll be back...soon. Forgot to mention the staff....very polite and attentive. All in all an excellent experience. Tripadvisor asks you to rate how expensive the restaurant is. I selected 'mid range' as the term 'cheap eats' wouldn't do it justice. It really is good food and a very affordable price.

I recently went with friends to the bengal tiger and I have to say that it is one of the best indian restaurants that I have been to. The good is amazing, it's great value and the service is second to none, even when they have a full house, there is no disruption to the high service they provide. Would recommend it highly to anyone in the area!

I have been to Indian Restaurants all over this country and overseas and this is one of the best i have been to in terms of the food itself being authentic and flavorsome as well as the efficiency of the staff. You find alot of Indian Restaurants that do not cater for individual requirements and only have the standard dishes. This Restaurant however can cater for the individual taste adding different spices and flavours to your own pallet as well as having the traditional menu. The service was fantastic and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend Bengal Tiger as an establishment to eat in or to have a takeaway. The proficiency is exceptional and i have been back a few times in the last few months and i plan to continue to go back as it really is that good. Try it for yourself, you wont be disappointed.

HiI have been a customer of the Bengal since it opened and it remains the best value and quality curry in Maldon.The staff will happily change and adapt the dishes to suit and the cooking times are very good on the takeaway side.

Would recommend to visit this restaurant if you stay in Maldon/Heybridge area & like to have Indian Food.

My family and myself are regular customer's to this restaurant , we have always found the whole experience close to perfection ! The food is amazing the staff friendly and never a wait the whole atmosphere is relaxing . We are always advised on any new dishes being introduced ( even do a gorgeous cheesecake ) we are continually asked if we are happy with our choices , nothing is to much trouble & definitely worth a visit .

What a wonderful experience! Based on the recommendations from other reviewers we decided to give this restaurant a go last night. The food was superb - probably the best indian we ever had on only in Maldon, but also compared to London, Prague or Munich. Yet the highlight of the evening was the personnel at Bengal Tiger. Extremely attentive - we observed that we have been noticed even before we entered the restaurant - happy to serve, very accommodating, and extremely polite. We have been served quickly and efficiently, without being rushed or neglected. What a wonderful experience - it truly put smiles on our faces.I must say that i was shocked to read the reviews other people posted yesterday. It seems like they visited a different place and posted their comments on Bengal Tiger's profile mistakenly. The place has not been overcrowded last night and the staff was efficient, attentive and courteous.

Few of us went out last Saturday to the Tiger and no regrets. Was extremely busy as expected for Saturday night, but no compromise on the quality of food served, perfect. Tiger sizzler is a must for newbies. Staff are always polite and full of smiles, all of us enjoyed our night there without being rushed out like some places. Only downside, we had to put up with another group being rude to the staff purposely (some people will do anything to get a discount!)

Had reserved a table for a party of 6 for 7.30pm, restaurant was very busy and we waited 15 minutes for our table. Although lots of staff milling about they seem very preoccupied with getting take away and delivery orders fulfilled and after prompting them we finally got to order our food an hour later (drinks took 30 mins)One of our party is a type 1 diabetic which we tried explaining to the staff as obviously needed to eat/medicate within a certain time span but this was not given any consideration.Main course arrived at 9.45pm - 2 1/4 hours after we arrived - even the tealights on the table had given up and gone out by then!! Food was nothing special and we were all past hungry at this point :-( Great company redeemed the evening, service may be better on a weeknight but wont be rushing back. There are much better choices for this cuisine in Maldon/Heybridge.

Originally saw the positive reviews on here so decided to try it as we were here only for the weekend. Staff were lovely and friendly, food was really tasty, the best we've had for ages. Highly recommend it.
