The madras’s tasted awful like they were burnt so they weren’t eaten. the onion bhaji had no favour and you could only taste the oil. I won’t be ordering from here again. Wasn’t worth the £60 we paid.

100% recommend. Best Indian food I have ever had. Lovely friendly staff, they really looked after us. Restaurant is lovely inside, decor is very calming and welcoming, felt very comfortable here. The food was absolutely delicious, look forward to eating here again.

Had an absolutely perfect Date Night out, which started with an amazing meal here. Have lived in Maldon for over four years and never eaten here before but think we have now found our favourite Curry restaurant. Service could not have been better & the food looked and tasted better than any other curry I have had in a long time.....possibly ever! Would highly recommend!

This used to be one of the best Indian restaurants.But Just lately. has been cutting corners.For instance , making Vegetable curries from frozen packet vegetable instead of what used to be fresh vegetable This is so noticeable. Come on, is this really necessary?

Lovely food and service. Trusted restaurant. Only down side was a new member of staff given a tirade of criticism by the owner in front of diners. Lowered the mood and ruined the atmosphere. Staff seem on edge. Message to owner- lighten up, staff should smile.

I would say this is the best quality curry restaurant we have ever been to. Good atmosphere, great staff who worked so hard, and the food was out of this world. We were travelling through and I wish we lived nearer but will never forget and maybe will return one day.

Our usual Indian take away was closed so we tried MaldonTandoori for the first time. Food superb (especially the Chicken Dansak), fast efficient service. When meal was collected we noticed the modern, attractive premises, both exterior and interior. We’ll definitely be back in the future whether to take away or eat in. Thanks.

Lovely food and great service, lots of gluten free options too. We popped in without booking and as we were early we got a table but it's obviously popular as the whole place soon filled up. The food was lovely, so many choices it was hard to decide and the portions were quite large.

Been here many times for take out and dine in and the food and staff unbeatable I personally cannot fault this place the staff are respectful and kind to adults and children I would highly reccomend this place 🤗

Have got takeaways for the past 8 years, the past 3 times it has been absolutly disgusting!! Have complained but still really nasty, will never fo back and would tell everyone to do the same, the food is now not ediable!!!

We stayed in Maldon recently for a friend's celebration and we booked a table in here as most restaurants were full and menu looked quite inviting. The menu was very nice and original with lots of interesting starters and mains, and it didn't disappoint. For seafood lovers, I definitely will recommend to order any of the dishes with prawns. I had the one with aubergines and it was amazing and they went fantastically well with the Deshi Fried Rice with lemon, absolutely delicious! The service was excellent, attentive and also quick, it was a great experience and we had great time, it is a shame is not near where we live!

We walked in around 8pm on a Sunday evening. Good menu, friendly staff, both really enjoyed our food. Portions were so generous we couldn’t do it justice. Would definitely return.

Really, really good food. I have eaten in a lot of restaurants in my time and can honestly say that the food here was superb. Just the right quantity, piping hot, excellent service, what more can you ask for. The restaurant itself is well appointed and the decor very tasteful. OK it wasn't the cheapest, but sometimes you get what you pay for and we definitely got that. We will be going back.

The food was nice, the service, not so nice. The head waiter was walking round arrogantly, the young white guy who cleared our table, had a handful of dirty plates and was walking back to the kitchen and this guy literally shouldered him out of the way. I don't like that. We didn't even get asked if we wanted desert, and there was no offer of coffees etc, it was just like give us your £175 and leave. No free tipple for the girls or anything. Good food, average everything else. Disappointing as it could be so much better

Superb curry house in the heart of Maldon

1/2 Tandori chicken - really dry, also had a hint of smoked paprika which was a bit weird. Chicken Tikka dansak, really tasty curry, but again, chicken was dry. Sag Paneer, really nice Poppadoms and sauces were good. When spending £35 of a takeaway, I’d have preferred to have waited 45mins or so, for fresh chicken, rather than dry reheated chicken, which took 5mins-10mins, Shame :(

I've eaten here a few times and have never been disappointed. The service is good and the food is great, with an extensive menu. It's always been quite busy when I've visited but I've still been found a table despite not having booked in advance. It's a little pricey, but I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good Indian meal.

Looking for somewhere to eat recently after a day in Maldon. A couple of places we tried were fully booked but this place could find us a table so decided to have a curry. The staff were friendly and the restaurant looked clean and tidy, the food was good and we enjoyed our curry.

The food was excellently presented and tasted fantastic. Staff were friendly and not over enthusiastic. A good atmosphere in which to enjoy a meal.

We had a takeaway from The Maldon Tandoori this evening. We normally use another takeaway in Maldon but decided to have a change. The Maldon Tandoori was considerably more expensive so we had high hopes. The food was fine, but not amazing, and definitely not worth the price. The chicken was very dry, both in the tikka and the biryani. The keema naans had very little meat in them. Looks like we will be going back to our usual takeaway.

We were looking for an Indian that could cater for gluten free and this place didn't disappoint. The poppadoms were delicious, so were the sauces and salad that went with them. There wasn't a gluten free menu but the manager (i think) was able to advise that 95% of the dishes were or could be gluten free. I had chicken tikka massala, and my partner had a garlic chilli balti, after some advice from the manager. We also had garlic mushrooms which were the most amazing garlic mushrooms ever! All in all very tasty. A huge menu so there is loads to choose from! Friendly, helpful staff.We will definitely be back again.

Really nice food, infact was great, staff were great too, only draw back was it didnt serve an indian Beer, Stella???? Becks???? etc and Cobra, which isnt an indian beer, just pretending to be. Will be going back but will bring my own Kingfisher!

An excellent experience from start to finish. Firstly the Covid measures were professionally handled without being intrusive. We had poppadoms which were crisp, and an excellent selection of dips alongside, we enjoyed all four. Main course was excellent, not too thick which happens to be how we prefer it, and unusually large pieces of meat which we found worked well. Had an ice cream for desert which was attractively served and wasn’t just right in terms of not being too frozen. Service was excellent and we felt welcome, in a clean and smart restaurant. A shame we unfortunately don’t live nearby otherwise we’d certainly be regular users. Would highly recommend.

seriously a home cooked curry has more taste than this, the jalfrezi has no spice to it or flavour and the chicken is like home cooked chicken very poor - not terrible as its edible , but very poor and not like its cheap either !

Very shocked as used to use all the time but very poor quality of meal this time. I had butter Chicken and the sauce was very weak in taste also more like korma and the chicken was very hard and chewy I noticed it was poss tandoori chk in it which I did not ask for. (Basically I ended up with chewy chicken with a weak sweet sauce) it was vile.My partner had Garlic chilli chk had same problem with the chk as me but his sauce was very acidic like a vinegar in it.Rice and garlic bread no problem but I'm afraid the quality of sauce is not the same and cutting back by putting reheated tandoori chk in dish is not good if not asked for. I could get a better result if I roasted chicken and bought a ready made sauce, and it be cheaper but £39 for mish mash, not on, I expect proper Indian cooked food for that price not make do.

I have been to a lot of Indian style restaurants in my time .I first started going to this restaurant after my more local Indian restaurant started cutting back on food quality . I took about a year going to different placesI stumbled on this restaurant by chance really I must say the owner/head waiterwas a bit cheeky but did he know his menu . He asked my wife & I what sort spices we like hot cold etc. Then advised us what to choose from the menu.We waited with anticipation of what we would get boy did we get a excellent mealit was one of the best I/we ever had . Since we have taken our friends ,family Also business colleges etc. now they always talk about how good the food is and are we going again Also they are now taken other friends and family there alsojust an exigent run restaurant.takeaways are just as good

I live in Tollesbury so we travel at least 12 miles each way to get a MaldonTandoori > The takeaways we have had from this restaurant have been outstanding.We took a long while trying to find a Indian Restaurant of this quality.Always look forward to going to this restaurant as well.

We visit this restaurant frequently and always enjoy the meal and atmosphere. Jhual the owner and his team go out of their way to ensure everyone has the best time and the best food. I felt that I had to leave a review on this occasion as they surpassed the usual excellent standards of service, and on a very busy Saturday evening ! Two of our party have food intolerances, one of them coeliac, the other with even more significant issues (dairy, gluten, eggs, etc, etc). However, nothing was too much trouble for the restaurant, in fact they went out of their way to ensure that we all had a fantastic meal, including those with intolerances. Very impressed, thank you Jhual and the team Make sure you book, either by phone, or social media, to avoid disappointment, it’s always busy and understandably so because it’s definately the best Indian for miles !

We visited recently with friends The food was lovely. There was a large group of us and we all ordered different meals. Everybody enjoyed it, no complaints. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the service was good. Will definitely return!

Staff were friendly and polite. Food was reasonable if nothing special. A bit pricey for what is ultimately dated cuisine, but it’s clean and service is good. If I was going for a classic Indian back in Maldon, I would go again.

Amazing place! Went to dinner with friends. The atmosphere is lively with friendly efficient staff. We talked and they left us to it, never pushed us along as some places would. The food was excellent, portions sizes are just right and it was clearly freshly cooked. We will definitely be back for more and I highly recommend it

My wife and I have been coming to Maldon Tandoori for years. The food is excellent and rich with flavour, and the service is friendly.We particularly love the Nagaci naga which despite being really spicy has many layers of flavour. The king prawn jolpai is both smoky and sour, with fresh and succulent prawns. Even the papadom sauces are unique and flavoursome. We're from Asia and love spicy food and Maldon Tandoori really ticks all the boxes. I cannot fathom the negative reviews about the food... We eat a fair amount of Indian food even in London and always consider Maldon Tandoori to taste better. The owner is a big personality and always friendly.If we have friends or family visiting our first choice will always be Maldon Tandoori.

Food was bland service rubbish went be back

Given the reasonable reviews we were so disappointed on our visit. It’s a smart restaurant with a good atmosphere, and the service was friendly and efficient, but that is as good as it gets (and the only reason I gave it three stars). The food was way below standard, I have eaten in every Indian restaurant in Maldon and this is by far the worst in terms of flavour. The sauces are incredibly thin with hardly any taste of spice. The cauliflower bahji was barely cooked and totally lacking in flavour, and again with the thinnest sauce I have ever come across. Also at the top end of pricing, I can’t imagine going back.

Takeaway Review - Have eaten in this restaurant plenty of times. Always well looked after and well fed. First time for a takeaway and words alone cannot express how disappointed I was.The food, what there was of it, was lovely and well flavoured. The source of my disappointment was the portion size. Once I got home I opened the container and it was barely 1/4 full, I appreciate overfilling can lead to problems in transit but this was the equivalent of a comedy child size portion, which would be funny if I hadn’t been charged full price.Not good enough. Very disappointing.

Another recent discovery right on my door step! After lots of trial and error and excruciating pain (I suffer from Crohns Disease) I have now found an excellent place to satisfy my indian food taste buds !The menu choice is exceptional and the quality and taste of the food is to me the best in the area. Jewel ( sorry I know probably spelt wrong) and his staff do does their very best to provide an excellent experience and really do cater contour needs. I have twice let Jewel choose a dish for me and WOW.....they have been amazing. I have eaten in and collected 2 takeaways now and each time the quality of food has been brilliant. What makes this so good is that my Crohns has not reacted which is a very good thing....no pain, no upset stomach and no flushing 30 quid down the loo ! The prices may be a bit higher than the average place but remember you get what you pay for and Maldon Tandori is worth it!

Best Indian restaurant in Maldon, really nice every time I have visited.

We arrived here hungry after a long day out. It was no later than 8pm and it was busy, but there were about 5 tables we would see free. We asked the owner who was at the bar if they do vegan or vegetarian food. We were told 'no, its too busy tonight for that' and turned away. It's sad to see that such a growing diet is not catered for here and they will likley loose many customers with this attitude.

Best Indian I've ever had fact. I've been everywhere for curry, whether it's Brick Lane in London, Tamarind with the Michelin star or a random curry house in the back of beyond, I've been there! nowhere comes close to this! Food and service are outstanding and the quality is phenomenal. Cannot recommend Maldon Tandoori enough!

The owner takes great pride in providing the best of everything and his hospitality is second to none! Special occasions are always made extra special and we have never had a poor meal. My favourite dish is no longer on the menu but is always made for me on request and anything you want a little hotter or milder is never a problem. Eat in or Takeaway - you won't be disappointed!

What an amazing place, we can’t rate this restaurant highly enough... from the welcoming and friendly staff to the decor and the beautiful tables, they have thought of everything. If you want to treat yourself please give this place a try. As soon as we were seated we were all given a small shot and you can tell everything from the tableware to the glasses are of good quality. The staff were so helpful with explaining the menu and finding us and then also tweaking dishes to our own tastes... our son also changed his order after the starters and this was no trouble at all. The dishes are bought out and then heated again at your table... that little extra special touch! The food was incredible, we visit Indian restaurants very frequently and this is by far the best. The fresh ingredients, flavours and naan bread amazed us, not to mention the green sauce with with poppadoms which we haven’t had anywhere before - just absolutely delicious. Rounded off with some creamy ice cream and a candle as mentioned it was a birthday, also receiving a card and chocolates!! Seriously this place and the staff excelled itself - we even had to get a selfie with the incredible staff as we enjoyed them so much. Having had a poor experience service wise from the opinionated and abusive owner in the past I gave the restaurant a wide berth - after a couple of good take away experiences I went in at 10 this eve (a Friday night ) to be turfed out and told the kitchen was shut though eat in tables were clearly being served . Ive had enough of bigotry negative attitude and abuse at the hands of this establishment - good food I'll admit but service with more than a snarl- more friendly balti bujhon round the corner

A family meal with 3 generations. We had booked. We were warmly welcomed and seated. Drinks were supplied quickly. The food was freshly cooked and, in the main, very tasty. Those who had Chicken Tikka were slightly disappointed, especially as it was not served sizzling. However, the Chicken Tikka Balti had outstanding flavours. The staff were appropriately attentive and very welcoming to the younger children. The cost was fair for what we had.

First time for us and not disappointed the menu was extensive and had the old favourites but lots of dishes I've never seen before.could taste all the spices that were advertised . Big chunks of chicken breast all cooked to order and not a one pot with some added herbs. All in all a good restaurant would go again
