We visited for a take away yesterday and we were very impressed with menu and the way you could choose the level of spice to your taste for the vast majority of dishes. The food was delicious and flavoursome. The service was attentive but not intrusive. Would highly recommend and will definitely be going back.

We've been going here for 15+ years and have always had excellent food and superb service. We would normally have the staff curry's which are amazing, but as it was Sunday, we opted for the Rezzalla - Lamb for me, Chicken for my friend. Absolutely beautiful. The only downside was it was relatively quiet which was a shame because they deserve more business. Please support this local business by eating there. Wonderful staff couldn't do enough for us. Highly recommended.

The food is really tasty and marvelously prepared and the staff are really welcoming and have become good friends over the years. It is clear that many other people feel the same way. It always seems to be pot luck what the quality of the food will be. We used to use this restaurants takeaway service for a number of years up until last year when we had visitors and the order was all wrong and they basically just apologised ( no offer of a discount or anything) last week we thought we’ll give it another try ( Friday night ) well you have no option to pay by card online so inconveniently you have to call them with your card details ( risky ! ) I must be honest and say that my wife enjoyed her meal but my chicken was like chewing blocks of cork ( no I haven’t eaten cork ) tasteless too and certainly not like chicken . I didn’t complain because of the last poor experience so I’m airing my views here .

Don't judge a restaurant by its buffet unless the buffet is excellent! I have been to many buffets but unforetunately the food was not great here. Very small buffet, the place was pretty empty. The furniture is old and cushions in seats have no life left in them.Maybe the Ala carte is better but the buffet was not great.

We’ve eaten here several times and also bought take always, but yesterday evening’s take away was terrible. By husband had lamb rogan gosh. The lamb was sliced pieces of meal and extremely tough and chewy. I ordered a chicken Tikka Marsala. It wasn’t what I was expecting, it was lumps of chicken in a bright red sauce, the colour of a tandoori, not a paler creamy sauce as I expected. There are many Indian restaurants to choose from in the town so we won’t be eating here again, which is a shame because it was our favourite.

I returned to the Passage to India, Stony Statford, after about a year, as I was back that way on business. I am sure it has improved, and it was already at a good standard. I had an excellent meal, with solicitous attention from an above-average waiter, and the whole experience was wonderful. I enjoyed a beer that the waiter recommended, and I would not otherwise have tried, and it complemented the food really well. This was one of the best restaurants of its type (Bangladeshi surely, not Indian...) that I have ever eaten at. I really hope to be back soon, and will pull all the strings I can with my business to make it happen...

Slow service, embarrassing food. You get more authentic curry from Tesco. Insipid sauces, Dahl like dishwater and you had to hunt for any meat in the dishes. They clearly thought that as it was a bunch of blokes ordering plenty of beer than they could serve any old rubbish. Avoid if you are in a large party.

They probably excel at takeaways but can’t handle a large party. The bhindi/ okra was near enough raw, mixed with the bhuna gravy and not cooked in it. The waiter was clueless about the soft drinks in the menu & served the wrong drink. They’re obsessed about serving soft drinks with plastic straws when not required. By the time my rotis were served, my main dish was almost over. Although the food is typical British Indian & not even remotely close to authentic Indian cuisine, the taste is still better than Bekash, another Bangladeshi/ Indian joint in Stony Stratford. The safest neutral dish would be the mixed Tandoori grill although the masala fish starter was very nice. If “Biryani” is spelt as “Biriyani” on the menu, it’s a sign of a disastrous meal to follow. Definitely not worth a second visit nor a takeaway.

The "banquet" is actually a very reasonable fixed price menu: starter, main, veggie side and rice or naan. It's offered on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings; during the day on Sunday they offer a buffet instead. The banquet is cooked to order, so possibly a better bet - we had chicken chat or chicken tikka; a seelction of maoin course curries - all good, with the bhindi bringil chana bhuna (Chick pea, okra and augerbine curry) especially well liked, saag aloo and tarka dhal. Three of the four sides contain potato (on the dhal does not) and there was no salad garnish with the chat starter, but overall the food was very good and offered excellent value. As often, beers were on the pricey side, although tap water was freely given.

Virtually empty restaurant is usually an indication that the venue is a bad choice, and so it was. Menu had little vegetarian choices, table and general ambiance poor., no table cloth, cutlery not clean. Waiters not able to explain the menu. Water and wine both tepid and the restaurant unable to offer anything but ice in the wine. We should have left at this point but then the food arrived which was decidedly average. We won’t be re-visiting.

We had onion bhajees, sag aloo, garlic rice, masala fish fry, tandoori king prawns and a cheese and garlic naan. Everything was beautiful - i really recommend the masala fish fry, i wasnt sure what to expect but its marinated white fish, diced/shredded and served with a delicate sauce. Beautiful big prawns and the rice, oh wow really tasty! My only small negative, i LOVE onion bhajees but they were very bland, still nice but lacked a little bit of flavour. We picked up the takeaway for a discount and they were friendly and welcoming - good job guys, we will order again!

Four of us visited late on a Sunday afternoon after a cold brisk walk and found the place empty as the buffet had just closed. Our reception was jovial and most welcoming, with profuse apologies about the buffet. So we had the al a carte menu to choose from. Those of you who know my strange vegan addiction will understand how difficult I can be, but it was no problem. Both were very well cooked and perfectly spiced. For mains we had the chicken tikka bhuna and the special cashew chicken which we had not tried before - it was very generous portion, with a thick sauce, and plenty of cashew nuts sprinkled on top. It was a good creamy contrast to the spicy tomato based bhuna sauce. We had cauliflower bhaji, channa masala, pilau rice and peshwari naan. They were all delicious too. After a horrible dinning experience well over a year ago (see my entry from the list), we thought we'd give this place a try with a takeaway. The food is okay. The seasoning is great but portions are a bit small. The samosas were clearly bought in, something that I would expect a restaurant to make it themselves. One of our mains was one of their specials, my husband's favourite cashew nut creamy curry, was watery and everything was a bit soggy. Still won't go back to eat in. It was 6.15pm on a Sunday when we picked up the food. There was no one eating there, they've moved a row of tables to serve a buffet. It seems business has been poor.

I used to eat here many years ago, but I knew it had change hands so was reluctant to try as there are many other Indian restaurants in Stony Stratford. At first it still feels a bit dated with the railway carriage theme, however, I was delighted with the food. In fact I thought it was better than some of the other restaurants in town that I usually eat at. The portions were the right size, the flavours were all there. Even down to the coffee which was perfect. It really was a surprise. I would certainly say give it a try for a change and I will definitely go back there.

I have been a long-term loyal customer at Passage to India for over 10 years. My review is based on a recent visit. Me and my business associates received exceptional customer service from the owner Junad. I had a business meeting with my associates which finished late evening and everyone was hungry. I noticed it was extremely late approx. 11.25 pm but I wanted to feed my business partners to good quality food. I called Passage to India and explained the situation and to my surprise Junad explained I should come over. When me and my business associates attended Junad closed down the restaurant and accommodated to me and my associates. Extreme care and attention was provided even in the late hours. In terms of the food, it was absolutely divine and all my associates rated the restaurant as the best Indian they had. The décor of the restaurant is amazing and so comfortable and the food was absolutely delightful. Junad actually supported his staff at the kitchen to prepare the food, he didn’t have to which I was extremely grateful. I specifically had the chicken biryani – unfortunately I do not have the words to describe how amazing it was, the only word I can possibly use is it was ‘heavenly’. The food was fresh, full of flavour and reasonably prices. In addition, my associates were even more impressed that the restaurant accommodated us even during closing hours. We had an extremely pleasant and surreal experience and I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to the staff at Passage to India and in particular to Junad. Thank you very much and for your consideration, it was a memorable experience.

I remember this restaurant with fondness, but our last visit was a disappointment. We were the only people in the place, although one person came in for a takeaway. The service was OK. No better. We shared a starter, and were not given a plate each. So we ate it off the serving dish. We were not given a warming dish for the mains, nor were the plates warm. So the food got cold before we'd finished. We left quite a lot, and the actual dishes were disappointing.

So I am a big curry nut, I love Indian food... and of course a Indian Buffet really appeals... I have had a fair few in my time, and decided to try out the one on offer at Passage of India in Stony Stratford... and I was not disappointed. Really friendly staff made me feel special, even though I was the only person in there (god knows why) Now the only negative was the starters of which there was 4, was a little disappointing... There was no onion bhaji's (even though if I had asked they would of filled it up of course) and the spring rolls and chicken pakora didn't look very appealing... However the Chicken Tikka was very tasty, and had some friend onions that finished them off, Popodums were on offer... but could of done with a couple more toppings as there was no mango chutney nor my personal fav lime pickle... They did bring out onion bhaji's when I had the main and they we're very nice... Now back to the positives, there was a great selection of mains, no less than 5 infact, 4 chicken and one very tasty lamb dish... the meat was really nice and cooked to perfection... the vegetable dishes were so fresh, and tasted great... there we're two different rice dishes on offer... and of course Naan bread... I managed two full plates, probably eat too much just because it was that good... great variety and great quality is a rarity in Indian Buffets... Passage to Indian really does set the standard high, I eat at another more established restaurant the other week, I wont name names... but Passage to Indian puts their buffet to shame, it really does need to be supported ! You won't be disappointed ! Oh and with a drink, all for less than £13 !

Me and my girlfriend went over to this restaurant for a meal after a long weeks work. We've been before and never been disappointed so thought it would only be right to show my appreciation. The staff are very welcoming and the food was spot on! The service was quick and the vibe of the place is nice and calming. Definitely worth a visit if you like your Indian food.

My husband and I went here last night as we had good experiences there previously. It was busy with many large tables. We were give a corner table at the back. Service was slow between the issue of menus to our wine. We assumed it was due to a large birthday party. We chatted as we waited for our food but when we'd finished our bottle, it was apparent that no one was getting their food quickly. We scanned the place, it was packed with angry and hungry people. We asked one staff who quickly dismissed our concerns about the wait. Many individuals from different tables have also had this treatment at this point. We were all brushed off despite having waited an hour for food. Just then, a woman from the birthday party was confronting the staff loudly about the lack of customer service and the long wait. She refused to pay and her party was leaving. The staff started shouting at her and the manager sent 2 of them after her. When it was clear they won't be back, the manager was busy on the phone, calling the woman's number and what we assume is the police. The staff was busy clearing that table. The rest of the restaurant, about 20 people, watched on as no one gave us any apologies or explanations about the delay of our food. I went to speak to the manager, wanting to explain the long wait is now causing my diabetic husband to begin feeling low (see medical sites) and will need his dinner so the medication he put in an hour ago will work as that's when we thought food will be arriving. The manager COMPLETELY IGNORED me and brushed me off. My husband then looked up the cost of our wine, put the money down and we went to the Chinese down the road for food. No one stopped us and no one apologised as we went. The experience was very negative for a restaurant we enjoyed previously - such a shame.

I have reviewed this little place many times and it is still as good as it ever was. Food & service are always just the best that you will find. We travel around 25 miles to eat in here and it is worth it, as it always has good tasty food. Keep up the good work guys, you are doing a great job.

Ate here with a group of friends. Limited menu, but interesting. Spoiled by the fact that the meals were not hot, and the music was too loud for any conversation, although they did eventually turn it down when asked. Not bad, but not very good either.

Had a lovely home made curry. The staff we’re extremely friendly. Also couldn’t get over how spotlessly clean the toilets were. Very enjoyable and reassuring.

Beautiful curry. Our favourite. Hard to find a good one nowadays where we live but this is tatsy, fresh, not dry and delicious.
