The usual very high standards. In food,and service. Phoned through an order for 10.15 pm, was ready on arrival. Best Indian in Devon, one of the best in the country.

Received a warm friendly welcome despite it being quite late on a Sunday evening. Excellent food and service thoroughly recommended.

This is such an excellent Indian restaurant, the best and most reasonably priced takeaway I have ever had. Such authentic flavour and delicious well cooked food. So reasonably priced too, will come back!

I used to live near Crediton many years ago and when in the area I usually have a meal here. Popped in on a Friday at about 6 pm, it was quiet and they obviously do a good take away trade. Saying that the food was excellent and the server was pleasant and efficient. Regarding the food, it was very good and was well cooked with the right amount of spices. Good value, about half that I would pay in London. Sorry to see sone negative reviews and based on what we had were not justified.

Our first mistake was deciding to walk into a completely empty Resturaunt. Thing just got worse. Worst Indian experience ever. They even tried to rip us off with the bill. When we asked for a receipt things got very awkward. The best part was trying to have a conversation whilst listening to the horrendous snoring from the manager. You couldn’t write this nightmare.

The only positive thing that can be said about this evenings experience, is that the temperature of the food was good. From the point of placing the telephone order, we were met with poor customer service, with the gentleman on the phone being very clearly disinterested in any kind of welcome or friendly interaction, in fact he was rude. We were told 45 minutes to wait, which was fair for a Saturday evening. So we rocked up, and we waited, and we waited, and we waited some more. No interaction, no apology, nothing. He then took the payment and so we were full of anticipation, but still we waited. Finally we received our order, about an hour and a half after making the call, so double the time expected. And you wouldn’t mind, if there was at least some friendly customer service, an update, and an apology, but nothing was forthcoming. The food was not great either, so a customer lost.

I have had takeaways from here before and eaten in and had no problems with the food until my takeaway prawn balti last night. Unfortunately, it was probably the worst takeaway curry I’ve ever eaten and to be honest, I could have made a better one myself. The rice was undercooked, the curry sauce was very watery and the prawns were overcooked. The sauce just tasted like salty water with a teaspoon of curry powder in it and even the naan bread didn’t taste like naan. My husband said his lamb dansak wasn’t that nice either. I usually write good reviews for places but when I’m paying over £21 for a takeaway, I would like to enjoy it.☹️

Ordered a takeaway from here as our usual curry house is currently closed so we thought we'd give it a try, never again. Rude, unfriendly, very slow service we sat waiting for nearly 30 mins! Shabby and dirty interior . Food was overpriced, tasteless but edible . Will definitely not return.

We have been patrons for some 16 yrs now and until the end of lockdown no complaints at all However since then the ingredients are cheap and substandard the food is rarely ready on time and not once in four visits has the order been correct the customer service when something his wrong is appalling and they actually don’t care. We have put it down to staffing issues and given a fair bit of slack but tonight was shocking g and the last time we bother

We are so pleased this isn’t far from us as we love Indian food and came down down here from north London about 9 years ago. Our Indian friends loved it too. Can be a bit slow but worth it in the end.

This was our second visit to Crediton and the Tandoori. The restaurant is nice enough although it was exactly the same 3 years ago. Maybe a refresh? The food was as before, superb. The waiter wasn't entirely sure what dishes were what when they were brought to our table but we got there in the end. If we come this way again it may be worth a third visit.

Well this place is hard to review !! First the service not the best Ive had . Polite and very friendly but not attentive at all we had to ask for everything. You need to up your game guys we had empty plates sat on our table way to long had to ask for drinks and were only given 1 menu to share. Please note we were the only diners in the restaurant.Now the food the pakoras were very bland and the onion bahjis were over cooked and crunchy thats the negative the currys were next level very very tasty smooth and well spiced . The currys were superb but im guessing your service possibly puts people off. Me personally its worth putting up with for for such good curry .

We ordered take away one Sunday evening and found the food to be excellent. The restaurant itself was busy with families and the staff friendly and efficient. The Dahl and chicken durpiaza were really good. A very good option if you want a night off from cooking or don’t fancy pub grub.

Yet again we had a delicious curry, my husband ate every mouthful because it was so delicious even though he was stuffed! The service is second to none and we will be going again soon. I will suggest though as a non meat eater could they use fresh veg in the curry instead of frozen mixed veg and maybe add some nuts or something for a bit of texture? but my vegetable curry was still delicious and was thoroughly enjoyed!!!

Ordered takeaway at 6.20 to be ready for 7.30, arrived on time, was told another 15m...went back in after 20m (just to be one safe side)...told another 10-20m.... still wasn’t ready on time Sadly, I was informed by my partner that this isn’t uncommon and that a few friends have said they have waited anything up to an extra hour. Food is ok so it’s a shame but won’t be back can’t be dealing with bad service!!

Nice very tender lamb and perfect chilli heat for me, professional service, only negative is not in the gov discount scheme so other diners may go elsewhere and miss the food

We got takeaway from this tandoori and highly recommend it! The Chicken madras is highly spiced and fiery and is perfect if you like hot food. The naan bread, onion bahjas and vegetable samosas were all extremely tasty and filling.

This local restuarant and take away is unpretentious. For us what sets it apart from others is the lovely customer service. The team may be young but they are polite, frinedly efficient and friendly. The food is good, plentiful and tasty.

Cheap and cheerful backstreet style tandoori house, even though it's on the high street. Do not let the plain, tired exterior and interior put you off. We were made to feel welcome from the off. All the servers were friendly and helpful.

It is always nice to be served great food, but the little things make a big difference and that being the staff. You are greeted with a smile and if you have a take-a-way over a certain price you get a bottle of wine or soft drink. The Sunday buffet is very reasonably priced. First class food from a first class team. When they are busy please do not fret as you are made to feel welcome.

We lived just outside of Crediton and decided to get a take-a-way here. We ordered our meal and were told it would be about an hour wait, which was not a problem for us. Unfortunately we then had to wait a further 30 mins when we got to the restaurant. Having said that the food is always excellent here and the portions are very generous. We will definitely go back.

Well what can i say, , as usual they crew at the tandoori are batting well above average, , i can honestly say ive never had a bad or even a slighty bad meal from there, more than i can say for the others in the town or in exeter to be honest, the only one that comes close is the chumleigh tandoori, but for crediton its a gem

We've lived a few miles away from this place and never really given it a thought. We always thought that the food would be cold by the time we got it home (15 minutes drive). Well, we were wrong. A Saturady night, just after opening time, we ordered three takeaway meals (with rice), 3 Peshwari naans, 2 poppadons and two side dishes all for under £40! The food was still piping hot when we got it home, the food was both tasty and plentiful with the smallest eater saving half of the veggie curry for the next day. Really pleseantly surprised and really sorry we hadn't tried this place three years earlier! Great food and great prices.

We frequently visit the Crediton Tandori and have never been disappointed. We always visit for the Sunday buffet which for £10 per head and all you can eat is fantastic value. The food is always hot and freshly made. The hosts are great, although if I had one criticism it would be to notice the guests a little bit quicker. My only other comment is the space, the Crediton Tandori is a relatively small restaurant and it's a little bit awkward to move around when the restaurant is full. The place is always clean and has a homely atmosphere. 100% recommended to anybody visiting Crediton!

This was our first time going to the Crediton Tandoori restaurant. Had read good reviews about it. It's a very simple and unfussy place. The staff are very welcoming. I was particularly impressed with the two young girls who were efficient, respectful and friendly. Our order was ready on time and we were given a bottle of soft drink free to go with it. Portions were sizeable, beautifully cooked and amazingly tasty... Spicy but not overwhelmingly so. It cost just over £20 for two main courses, a starter and one side of rice. Will certainly be going back. Thank you Crediton Tandoori!

Wonderful food as always - service and quality is there so worth the wait. We were a group of 10 and were catered for in a timely manner even though we booked last minute. Lovely little place

We usually eat at Indian restaurants in Exeter but thought we would give our local one a try. We were very impressed at the standard of cooking and have returned several times in the last few weeks. I enjoyed my main dish (King Prawn Jalfrezie) so much that I have ordered it each time! The chef manages to cook it so that the heat of the chillies does not overwhelm the flavour of the dish. I am feeling very hungry just writing this so we will have to return soon!

Decided to grab a take-a-way on the way home from shopping used to use the Indian Lounge but after reading the reviews decided to try Credtion Tandoori. The quality of the food we ordered was great. Lovely clean restaurant with friendly, helpful staff. Would recommend to anyone who wanted a great take-away will be getting ours from here in future.

Having just moved to the area, we decided to go out for a celebratory meal and were so pleased we chose the Crediton Tandoori! We had a superb meal, probably one of the best we have had for many years!

Just moved to the area so looking around for nice restaurants. On our first night we ordered a take away from crediton tandoori and it was lovely. Two weeks later we decided to go out and as the take away was so good we decided to book a table. Our table was booked for 19:30. Drinks orders were taken promptly as well as popadom order. These arrived at 19:50. We eventually got to order mains at 20:05, which we received over an hour later after I enquired where they were. Like I said the food was eventually lovely but they seem to be primarily a take away establishment who happen to have tables and the restaurant suffers greatly because of this. Was busy on the night and 1 waitress was running around trying to do everything. We felt sorry for her. I’m not saying avoid this place, the food is too good. Just stick to take away and you’ll be fine.

A first visit following a recommendation from a friend confirmed her judgment was good. The quality of the food, the service and the helpful approach was excellent. The menu was extensive with helpful information on the variable strengths of the curry. My choice of main course (recommended) was perfect, very tasty and inexpensive.

Visiting area for a few days, we ordered dishes over the phone to takeaway, having not seen their menu, but knew what we ideally wanted. Food ready within a reasonable time for a Friday night, and portion sizes were good. Butter chicken was gorgeous. Best and biggest surprise was how reasonable the cost was. Excellent value. Tasty.

Crediton has two Indian curry houses, this is the best. Busy Friday night crowd enjoying the food that was delicious. Excellent poppadums, naan and curries. Good price for two people. Recommended.

The Sunday buffet is very good value. This buffet begins with onion bahji and papadum. There is normally a chicken and lamb curry with at least 3 vegetable dishes, rice and tandoori chicken. It is followed by iced cream consisting of vanilla, strawberry and chocolate. All for £8.95. Staff are friendly and it’s clean. We go back time after time.

Visited here on Saturday for lunch and as usual, the food was excellent. The hardest part was choosing what we were going to have to eat. We have been several times and are always made to feel very welcome. It's always been lunchtime when we have visited and I would love to visit in the evening - expect it would be a great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend Crediton Tandoori for a great curry.

We had been told by people in a pub in a village nearby that this restaurant was good. We had a beautiful meal. The waiter was very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Clean and tidy place and good food. I was glad we went here and would go back.

We came here all the way from Newton Abbot as we have heard a lot of great things about this restaurant from friends and family living in Crediton. They weren’t wrong. The food was absolutely delicious and filled with flavours. The staff were very friendly with good service. Will be back. A very good night indeed.

You wait ages for food, 1 waiting staff trying to look after whole restauant. phone constantly going off and nobody answering it hence the whole time all you hear is the phone ringing. Have been coming here several times for years now. Sometimes takeaways sometimes to dine. Never have I ever been disappointed by the service and food. I think they are understaff but kudos to the waitresses for still being friendly to customers. I’ve been to many restaurants where once it gets busy the service drops, not in this case. And now the food. Yes there is quite a wait, but it is well worth the worth. In my three years of dining experience here I have never had a fault with anything. Best Indian in Devon.

Visited several times having pre booked, food always good but service appears to have deteriorated. Long waits for food to arrive and staff aren’t particularly friendly, appears to be under staffed.

I booked here for my grandmothers birthday lunch, and it was simply perfect! They were very quiet so we felt properly pampered and attended to by the friendly waiter who helps us select a variety of dishes to suit our tastes. And wow the variety of great flavours was spectacular, especially the passandar and the lababdaar were our favourites.

Me, my mum and husband came here for the first time after seeing good reviews on trip advisor. The food in this restaurant is so good that even my husband who has been avoiding Indian food for most of his life was so tempted by the smell and presentation of the food that he had to take a bite. Within a few seconds he too ordered his own meal. After he finished the first word he spoke was we'll come here next week as well . definitely would recommend!!

Not had their Sunday buffet for a while, so a well overdue re-visit was in order, and once again we were not disappointed, even though they were extremely busy when we arrived, a table was soon cleared for us, and we were seated and drinks ordered within 10 minutes of our arrival. The draught Cobra is such a beautiful smooth drink, really refreshing, and as it's not too gassy doesn't bloat you out before you eat. The first course of poppadoms and pickles duly arrived shortly after our drinks, quickly followed by the samosa's which today were mixed vegetables, occasionally they are chicken too. As soon as these were finished our hot plates were ready so we could help ourselves to the buffet, chicken tika massala, a lamb dish which was the star of the show in my opinion so beautifully tender, and lots of spices and chillies, with 5 various veg dishes, two rice and chicken tandoori, you were spoilt for choice, just had to go back up for some more of the lamb, as I had a bit of rice left, it would have been very rude not too :). Final course of ice cream duly arrived just a few minutes after ordering. All this at just £8.95, no wonder it gets so busy, I recommend you book a table if you're intending to dine between 6 and 8 pm, as they were turning people away, and asking them to come back later. We've tried the other Indian in Crediton, but it's not a patch on this establishment, so we won't be wondering again, it's Crediton Tandoori every time for us in future. Bringing a couple of friends with us in December on our next visit for the Sunday buffet, I'm sure they'll be equally impressed.

I can confess I visited the Tandoori Restaurant twice in 4 days.. guilty! This restaurant is amazing, never judge a book by its cover I say. Admittedly the appearance of this establishment from the outside would turn some people away as this building itself seems outdated. However once inside and comfortable at a table, the delicious smells take over. The food here is fantastic. The best Onion Baajis I have ever tasted and the wide selection of curries are amazing. Are party opted to order a selection of curries at both visits to try and taste as many as possible, and I can confirm each as wonderfully tasty as the rest. I recommend the Chicken Pathia, my favourite on the menu along with the side of lemon rice. Definitely worth a visit

No other words, fab food and would highly recommend the Lamb Sagwaala if you like spinach and lamb. The rice was a little slow but to be fair, there was only one waiter but this is not the normal here. Reasonably priced and the best Indian I've been to. I've visited quite a few in Devon to include Topsham, Exeter and Totnes and this restaurant is hands down the best. I tried everyone's dish and couldn't fault them. The staff are very knowledgeable and will help you choose if you are new to the cuisine and they will also Taylor the dish if you ask; my brother enjoys the sweet creamy passanda/korma but also likes heat so they make his spicy for him. Defo book in advance though.

It is always hard to know what to choose here. I had my favourite starter, really tender lamb tikka, and chicken sag curry. Helpful staff advised Charles on vegan options. One of our preferred eating places when we visit the area.

We visited this restaurant for the first time shocking ! The chicken masala was tasteless , the tandori chicken was a yellow colour instead of red and tasted of boiled chicken terrible ! The decor is horrendous ! Stains on the ceiling and round the windows , no table cloths, a black hair was on my plate before we had even eaten ! So he got a fresh plate. We really wanted this to be our place to eat on a regular basis but unfortunately we won't be back and advise all that we have been eating at Indian restaurants for 20 years and this is the worse we have ever experienced.

We have had take away a few times. We have not been back for a while but recently went back and it was excellent. The service is very good. They missed out one of the dishes was a disappointment, but when i went back a few days later they remembered and gave me a free curry (as well as the one they forgot). They are very friendly. The food is well spiced (but not too hot) and full of flavour, have lived in London for many years we had loads of great curry and this is definately as good as any we've had before. We'll be back again soon.

Our party of 6 dropped in last night, without booking. Not a problem for the restaurant, but it did rather slow up to the service, owing to Shorty's of staff. However, the service was exceedingly polite, nothing was too much trouble and our array of dishes, when they came, were the tastiest Indian food you can imagine.These were authentic and remarkable flavours, with something on the menu to suit every palate.We give this restaurant a hearty 'thumbs up' and have no hesitation in recommending it. We suggest it might be best to book in advance, though!

A varied menu which makes it hard to choose! Lamb tikka starter tender as described, pumpkin chicken curry full of flavour, light crisp nan. Will have to visit again for another enjoyable selection. Staff are also knowledgeable and adaptable in providing a vegan option. Many thanks.

This was our first visit to the The Crediton Tandoori and when we are back visiting our family we will definitely return. We can highly recommend this restaurant, all the staff are lovely and friendly, and certainly made us feel welcome. The food was excellent, very tasty and plenty of choices, we enjoyed everything we tried and no complaints from us at all. Keep up the good work and will see you all again.

Took some friends (who had never been to an Indian restaurant before) to the Tandoori. It was a particularly busy night, but we were all really impressed with the the quality of food. Service was a little on the slow side, but this didn't really matter. Plenty of food for the 4 of us, plus we shared 2 starters and had a bottle of wine and a few beers - in total, it came to £82 - and we were stuffed. Great value, great place to eat in Crediton - would definitely recommend.

I can't even find the words to praise this absolutely beautiful restaurant. I've been eating here for years and never have I ever found an opportunity to complain. The staff are so friendly and even in busy times you don't feel pressurised to eat your food fast so that they can get their new customers a seat. Even when the takeaways all fly in, the customers staying to eat aren't affected. The food is absolutely delicious and really worth the money (which isn't even that pricey) The decoration is such a classical Indian decor and it truly gives you the feeling as if you're in India yourself. Everyone in the restaurant is so friendly, from the staff to the customers. I truly feel safe, secure and comfortable when eating in this restaurant and over the years nothing has changed. I try my best to always eat at this place because I love it so much and want that Indian feel but when I'm not able to I order a takeaway and even that is excellent. They give roughly the right timing for when it's ready to be collected and once you reach home and eat it truly is the best thing. I find it surprising when people tell me that they've never been to Crediton tandoori and eat at the Indian lounge. Once you eat at Crediton tandoori I guarantee you will fall in love. I've been eating here for so long I've known there ups and downs and this restaurant has Blossomed into this beautiful flower day by day. Even when they have new staff all of them are still friendly. Not only me but a lot of my friends absolutely love it. The menus, staff, food, service, decoration is excellent, what more could you want. I highly recommend to anyone who hasn't been to this restaurant yet to give it a go and pray that the experience is just as fantastic for you as it has been for me. popped in on a very wet Thursday evening after a last minute visit by a friend turning up from Cornwall, as per normal great service and great food .We use the place for take away now and again as well and the food is the exactly the same quality, good size meals and you never go hungry.The food is always cooked perfect and the restaurant has a relaxed feel to it and at a great price .Well worth a visit if in Crediton

The food is very authentic, great tastes and wonderful presentation, our guests were extremely pleased with the experience of dinning at the Crediton Tandoori. The herbs given to clean ones palate after dinner reminds my wife so much of the dinning experiences we have when in India. We will be back for another amazing meal.

Went to Crediton Tandoori on Tuesday night just to see if they stand out from the rest, they had a few takeaway orders coming in but only the two of us sitting down to eat, well I am pleased to say not only was the service great so was the food, you have to wait for a while as its all cooked to order but you will not be disappointed 9/10 we will be going back very soon.

Always something good to eat, warm and friendly service. Food cooked just as you like it, if you want spicier then just ask! Menu varied and the Sunday buffet is well worth a visit. Great Indian to have in our local area, keep going Rana :)

We really enjoyed our evening meal here - it was difficult to decide which dishes to choose from the varied menu. The lamb tikka starter was beautifully tender and the chicken and pumpkin curry was well complemented by the mushroom side dish. Crediton tandoori is a really nice place with a great atmosphere and friendly staff.my wife and I had a lovely meal there and we're made to feel very welcome and the service was great if would recommend this restaurant to anyone .

Found on the internet as the closest indian to us while on holiday at fingle glen lodges.My wife and I booked a table and enjoyed excellent food at a really reasonable price.It was the best indian meal I have had in a long time and the staff are very welcoming and friendly.Highly recommend going and I will go again when back in the area.

We visited Crediton Tandoori on a Saturday evening having had a really enjoyable afternoon at Crediton RFC. Visiting family and friends in Crediton, Crediton Tandoori was recommended to us and we were not disappointed! There is so many interesting dishes to choose from and the service was friendly and attentive yet not intrusive. We will certainly visit again when next in Crediton.

We were visiting the area and weren't sure where to go for a meal and decided to give this restaurant a go after reading positive reviews on here. The food was fabulous, easily the best we've ever had (...and living in Manchester, we've got tones of Indian restaurants!). The service is really good, the prices are very reasonable, and they also do takeaway. Would definitely recommend this place.
