Very disappointed with the peshawari nan bread, very disappointed with the onion bajhi, rich in unfamiliar colour and a paste like texture and also with the lack of complementary poppadoms after spending £79.80 for a family meal for 4.. I will not be returning to this restaurant for a take away service again

work on the road hadn't eaten all day got a delivery from this place to my hotel chips were saturated in oil literally dripping when I squeezed them... then I had some sort of mixed special kebabs which all just tasted the same in a pool of oil. but worst of all I had severe bowel movements all night and into the next day. honest review just my experience but I certainly would not recommend this place plus it's hygiene rating is only 3 stars which I found out after not good.

The food was delicious and there service is good. We try there food twice a month.

After 8 years of excellent food, something has changed. Obvious change of chef, possibly ownership. So poor I am now looking for alternatives.

Chicken korma..the chicken was pink .

Two and half hours late! When arrived all cold so sent back and refused to pay!

We ordered chicken biriyani. Which was not even biriyani it was more like chicken pulave and it was so trash no flavour at all and the portion was also small. I have been in India so I know what is Indian food. Then we ordered nan it was more like tandoori roti. I don't think they know Indian food. Then we ordered butter chicken (I ate butter chicken from lots of different restaurants in india) they don't know the first thing about butter chicken it is mainly made out of cashew nut and the butter chicken they gave didn't have cashew nuts and normally butter chicken is not sweet but the butter chicken they gave me was sweet. Personally I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anybody. The worst Indian restaurant I have been to. Very expensive for such trash food.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Almost 2 hours to come. Everytime we phoned they said 10 minutes or that their new guy was really slow, the food was like warm at best. They honestly couldn’t care less if you tell them of a problem!!! Don’t go !!!!!

I’ve ordered a few times from here and always given the benefit of the doubt, but every time I get the delayed delivery notifications. The food is okay but underwhelming.

Food arrived cold and half the order was missing .I phoned and the manager wouldn’t even listen to what was missing . She continued to not listen when I was trying to explain and she gave an excuse that because they were busy that’s why the food was cold. She constantly spoke over me. No customer service at all and then she hung up on me . Rude . We normally order from them at least once a month and a few times now we have been disappointed. We will definitely not be ordering again now. I just hope I don’t get food poisoning from the cold, greasy and tasteless food

So initially we had a look on the prices through just eat, and then we called the shop as well just to ask a few more questions. The guy started taking our order and when we said that we would pay by card he charged us £10more than just eat would. We ordered chicken madras... Well it was more like a chicken soup with 4bits of chicken. We also ordered onion bhaji and it was a purple colour thing which didnt even taste like or looked like onion bhaji. Over all it was a very bad experience with this place... I would give 0 if i could

Ordered online for delivery at 6pm, expected to receive delivery approximately 7pm finally turned up at 8pm Not worth the wait, poor food. Ordered a Biryani amongst a few other things, food not as fresh as you’d like as the vegetables tasted frozen/tinned. Poor taste experience all round. Will never got back

Sag Bhajee was good.... One of my favourite dishes..... Chien Tikka Masala Mild------ Very good, full of flavour and not hot as advertised. Nawabi Chicen is for tomorrow. Pilau rice.... Nicely one.... Pehaps a little more flavour required. Keema Nan,,,,, It was ok.... It seemed a bit 'old and the lamb rather past its best... Maybe my fault as I usually otfrt with garlic added... Vegetable Parathra..... Horrible. I'm used to fresh golden Parathra with sweet veg and lots of arommatic herbs.... This was very dark, the oil tasted weeks 'old'...... Overwhelimg taste of used oil killed everything off.... It looked and tasted like it was used to clean the floors and behind the ovens for a week or too before panfring it...So to sum up, main dishes plus sag and rice i had was very good.and I would reorder too.... However in future, I won't order the Nan breads or Parathras............ ' Communication good and delivery driver very friendly too.... .. .

I’m not happy that it took so long

This was the worst experience I've ever had. The order was originally due at 7:20 and arrived Finally at 8:41. I had tried to contact the restaurant 8 times. They spoke to me 3 times and I explained I wouldn't be there to collect the order as they kept extending the due time. In the end they rejected my calls. The latest due time was 8:30 and by this point it was too late, my guest had left. They turned up at 8:41 and constantly rung the bell, waking 2 children. I will NEVER order from this plac

Took nearly 2hrs 30 to arrive by which time it's all barely warm. Very disappointing

Placed an order via website. #26746601. Order took 1hour and 50 minutes to arrive. The puree was missing from one starter and the other, "King Prawn Butterfly" was literally one prawn. The rest of the meal tasted good but had to be microwaved as only warm.

Masala was very salty, not sweet and mild and food items missing no onion bahji etc the food was over an hour late aswell

Moved in to a new house and tried a few different Indian takeaways with a lot of disappointment but this is the one. Quality food, very tasty, and no watery dishes (which the others have been). Will definitely be ordering again!

The food was ordered at 6:45 pm and delivered at 8:30 pm, which is close to two hours. This delay was unexpected, and due to the delay, I couldn't finish my meal. It was frustrating to wait for so long.

Over an hour late. When I rang they said it was out for delivery and would be 5-10 minutes. I waited a further 30 minutes and called again to be told I was incorrect and they had “apparently” said it would be another hour. They then said they would provide a discount and have not done so. The food arrived barely warm, shame as the food itself tasted nice.

Was an hour and 10 mins late for delivery, called after 30 mins delay to be told it would be 5 mins but that was wrong and it was a further 40 mins!

The quality of the food is absolutely incredible!! I had a chicken tikka balti and I would even go as far as saying it was up there with the best of the curry’s I’ve ever tasted BUT!!! I’m left slightly disappointed because I had to order the mushroom rice to ensure that the £20 minimum order was met to get back to the side of the bank while I was looking forward to tucking in to notice that my rice was missing !!! I also had to pay £4.50 delivery fee and I was generous enough to pay the delivery

Second time ordering here. Arrived early and lovely and hot. Not the best Indian food I have had but a good solid 7/10 and reasonably priced too.

Best Dahl ever. Methi superb, rice fantastic. Chicken Panjabi a little tough, buttery pleasant.

Awful service the staff were all laid around on the sofas on their phones when i walked in and all speaking indian around me and laughing and looking at me making me feel very uncomfortable. I may have been being paranoid but their attitude towards me backed up how I was feeling!!! The food tasted only slightly better than it looked (the sauce was like water and hardly any meat!) I came to this restaurant as my favourite in Cullompton (noor sitara) was closed that day.....won't make that mistake again!! Was more expensive and didnt look or taste anywhere near as good. Definitely won't come here again!

Ordered through just eat , was later than original estimate but we were kept up to date, a masala was accidently replaced with a madras but the resturant came back out and exchanged with apologies before we had even finished our starter , fantastic service , owned their mistake and fixed it 5 stars

Always great food, the best I've had since moving down to Devon from Manchester where there is a very standard. Delivery drivers are always spot on. I would highly recommend the pathia and vindaloo.

Food was hot and delivered by a very pleasant young man. Mheti Gosht was very good, Tarka Dhal one of the best we've had. I was a bit confused on the online menu regarding the biryani. I presumed that the more expensive one would have been the Chicken Tikka Biryani, but ours was the ordinary one,. Even so it was good. Will definitely order from Ali again

Great food and service once again!

Food was awful, lamb was chewy and tough, both dishes we ordered had no flavour, only sweet very weird sauce for both dishes. Chicken was also tough and dry. Poppadoms looked like they’d been in a car accident prior to arrival, naan bread was plain when we ordered garlic and was as dry and tough again as an old frisbee. Did not enjoy one single part of the meal, would not order again even if the food was free, don’t waste your money. Delivery driver was on time and very polite at least

Food delivered early so not ready for it (wanted to heat plates and lay table) but better than it being late! Unfortunately the food was pretty cold so had to reheat it up after plating up. A sauce has leaked so when I lifted the paper bag out of the thin plastic bag the tubs all fell out onto the worktop.

Food was very greasy, onion bhajis were dripping in it. Samosas tasted odd and were very small. Ordered a garlic and cheese naan and a garlic naan, received 2 plain naans. Ordered cans of Rio but received fanta instead. Mushroom rice has a weird burnt taste. Wouldn’t order again.

Ended up with what I think is a vindaloo and certainly not a Madras. Curry was way too hot and had no flavour at all and certainly not a Madras. Also the Nan was plain I’d ordered a garlic nan. The starter was ok. But there was no yogurt sauce to accompany my starter and also the Bhaji had no spices whatsoever. Awful experience plus the chicken was dry.

Decided to try here as it’s closer than our usual Indian. The rice tasted day-old. Onions in chicken shashlik were raw and the the whole main was covered in tikka sauce. Not a shashlik by any means. Absolutely vile. Popadoms are good though!

Great food and great service. Bought food here many times. Having moving away from Cullompton I'll still make the drive in for this place. Most recently tandoori mixed grill, sag ponir and tarka dhal, all excellent.

Terrible experience, ordered 24 hours in advance and confirmed 4 hours before delivery time slot. Time arrived and nothing, gave it 30 mins and called and they said it was on the way and would be 5 mins, 30 mins went by and nothing, tried to call again and no answer, finally got through and they said it was again on the way, it arrived 2 hours past the promised time, was cold, poppadum's smashed to pieces, parts of the order missing. Owners response was they could not care a hoot. If I could give minus stars I would

Ordered a meal for two when delivered had to put meals in microwave as we're only warm, poperdoms soft and stale, small bag of salad only had onions in, found a hair in the rice, the chicken pieces were tough and unedable will not be using again.

When I was stung by a wasp on Saturday, I hoped it would be the only time I was stung this bank holiday. However I ordered dinner for the two of us at 18:50 on a Monday night and was advised that it would take up to 40 minutes to arrive. An hour and a half later I chased just to make sure we hadn’t been forgotten. Upon the call the response I received was ‘I told you an hour’ this wasn’t true but even if it was, this didn’t account for the food already being an hour and a half and still no sign. The guy said it would be a further 10-20 minutes. We are now at 2 hours and 30 minutes and still waiting for food. Having used these guys before this review could have been avoided with a bit of honesty and customer service however there is no place for this behaviour. There are many of other great takeaways in Cullompton so avoid these if you don’t wish to be stung like we have.

Obviously a great curry is quite a subjective experience.I found the Bombay chicken absolutely delicious, juicy and tender. I really enjoyed the saag aloo too - perfectly spiced, fresh, soft and delicious. The homemade samosas were triumphant. We had a delightful puffy naan each and would have gone for the full five stars but feel a few items could be slightly improved.Sadly we were given stale poppadoms and a really lurid yellow sauce served with them. Possibly just personal taste on the sauce but we much prefer the usual minty yogurt sauce we have had in other places. Also the bhajis were a little heavy and could have been crispier. Small changes and this would be sublime. The quality of the ingredients is evident.

My wife and I have had a couple of takeaways delivered recently. Very good quality and they always deliver when they say they will. Recommended

I have been using Ali Raj for many years. Tonight I had the best Butter Chicken I have ever tasted. The chicken, of which there was loads, was sooooo tender. The sauce was to die for. Congrats to the Chef.

poped in on the bankholiday monday as my usual indian wasnt open i had a trully brilliant takaway from the moment i walked in the english guy at the front desk so helpful i ordered chicken vindalo and chicken tika marsala onion bahjees rice and the best tasting persewi nan i can remember very well priced thanks

Lovely takeaway who delivered within good time on a Friday night, phoned and spoke about my various allergies and after speaking with the chef was confirmed they could cater for me - wasn’t disappointed! Yummy, hot on delivery with a friendly smile! Thank u!

Despite the poorly spelled claims on it's site, there are other (proper) Indian restaurants nearby. All are better. This is in fact a seedy takeaway that's been a local joke for many years. The food is horrible. Two client types will like it. Drunks who can't taste. And those with no taste. Don't even feed this to your pet.

Great food and Fast and efficient

Been coming here for years. Eat in and get takeaways. Love it fantastic food. However service is going down hill. Slow to take food order and even slower to bring your drinks. A change in some staff has had a massive impact. Really need to sort this issue out quickly otherwise you'll loose regular customers.

We have just moved into the area and thought we would give this place a go . It was absolutely lovely! Tender chicken . Really rich well spiced sauces, lovely rice and naan breads, The onion bajhis were soooo scrummy! All piping hot and well packaged to take home. Very impressed! My wife asked me what I wanted for a birthday meal last Monday. I opted for an Indian takeaway. The only Oriental takeaway open on a Monday in Cullompton turned out to be Ali Raj. (Good commercial move there guys!) Had an absolutely super meal, the remnants of which I will be eating today (Wednesday). Don’t be put off by the bland exterior or their premises, the food from within will not disappoint. Thoroughly recommended.

We have just moved into the area, and have had two takeaways delivered to us in the last two weeks. Food arrived hot & on time, sauces & spicing were excellent, chicken was tender, rice aromatic, naans etc. were great. Delivery guy was nice too. Highly recommended.

Just finished polishing off a LARGE plate from this takeaway. Really high quality food, and lots of it (more than my takeaway back home). Highly recommended. The lamb biryani was fantastic, as the lamb just fell apart, the way it should.

Really enjoyed the ‘special’ on at moment made with chicken instead of fish, done as a medium curry. Partner enjoyed garlic chilli chicken as extra (not silly) hot. With special fried rice. A thoroughly enjoyable tasty meal.

Think the Sea Bass is a chief special this week, so ordered one, it was absolutely amazing. The combination of the ingredients worked perfectly together for a really tasty well thought out and cooked meal. Also had the special rice which added even more (if possible) to the meal.

Had a takeaway worst we've ever had and we love Indian food threw 90% in the bin never again cost £25 not value at all

Used this for a takeaway whilst staying nearby in Plymtree. We did a phone and collect but they will deliver to local areas as well. Great service and the guy behind the counter couldn't have been more helpful, even adding some extra bits for my daughter who is gluten free. Once of the best curries we have had in a long time and at a good price as well. Highly recommended

Love the food at Ali Raj, i only have the Chicken Korma & boiled rice with poppadoms and their homemade dip. They add in side dish of onions, cucumber and tomato It tastes lovely as always. Staff very welcoming and pleasant.

They food is always really nice and they deliver which is an added bonus. They can adjust the spiciness of the food which always keeps the husband happy

Visited Ali Raj tonight for a takeaway, the food was delicious as always and the staff are very nice too. Definitely worth a visit you will not be disappointed!
