We visited as a group of 12 couples, pre ordered with 2 courses each. It was absolutely perfect! Great service, good timings and food was top quality. I had salmon starter and pumpkin risotto and the portion sizes were perfect and it was all so so tasty. I highly recommend this restaurant for groups, dates or with friends & family as it’s got something for everyone and such a good atmosphere. 10/10. Amazing wine as well. We had The Stump Jump Shiraz :) Thanks for having us!
Fantastic variety of options (hard to choose, will have to go back), big portions, well sourced local supplies. Perfectly cooked for my tastes. The loaded fries are lovely too.
we would highly recommend this place, very friendly service, delicious food, beautiful scenery, and a cool retreat from the heat. overall a very lovely and relaxing experience.
Duck and chips anyone? I’m quackers about the food at The Taylor Made Kitchen in The Shambles Market, with a highlight being the Peking Duck loaded fries. Please note, this was a special and so may be different when you visit - but I’ve had others and they’re all MAGIC!
Skin-on fries topped with confit duck, hoisin sauce, plum sauce, siracha, Japanese mayo, kimchi, coriander and spring onions. I had the small (£7) but it was really substantial, also available as a large portion for £10. Nothing fowl about this dish, it was delicious!
I’ve also tried the Pizza Fries, smothered in ooey gooey melted cheese. Too cheesy? No, I’ve made a career out of it!
I’ve had their burgers too, the mac and cheese, and the festive poutine at Christmas. Coming to York? It’s worth poutine this one on your list.
The Wizard of York (Wizard Walk of York)
Where do I start? This is my favourite place of all time. Any argument in my relationship is immediately resolved with just one word and that being 'Batanga' Not only are the staff brilliant but OMG the chef she is just amazing at what she does, My favourite thing in the world is nachos and she has taken them to a whole new level. I highly recommend for any occasion.
This is a lovely tea room to visit, it is an old school house which has now been converted into a charming tea room with lots of style. The food is excellent, lots of choice, very friendly staff and very reasonable prices, and the cakes are "made in heaven". A nice stop after an exhausing walk in York
Thank you
Great little spot ticked out of the way.
The staff are always polite, friendly and welcoming to us and our dog.
They have a good selection of beers on tap and in cans.
The food menu has extensive choice of burgers, sides, mac n cheese, loaded fries and some good veggie options. Regular specials keep it interesting too.
We've tried a lot of different things off the menu and all has been great but particularly some of the 'out there' stuff like the Vada Pav and Katsu burgers and the curry and mango chutney loaded fries.
Highly recommend
Not the first time coming. A small business, but a huge passion stays at the base of it. I can't recommend these guys enough. A pleasure to come here each time :)
Highly recommend. The food was delicious and the staff were super friendly and attentive. Everything was so fresh and tasty. I shall return as the meal was excellent value.
Really fancied an Italian for a nice Saturday evening meal - there are quite a few offerings in York, but after a look around and a scan on TripAdvisor, decided to opt for this establishment - and we were not disappointed.
Booked a table online and managed to get in with no issues at 1915hrs. Restaurant filled up so would definitely recommend booking to avoid disappointment.
Starter I went for was the mushrooms as per photo - lovely and creamy, a GREAT option.
Next up was the Calzone Diavolo - absolutely delicious. The crust was baked to perfection and came with a pot of Napoli sauce alongside, which was ideal for dipping.
Very pleasant staff, came over to check up on us numerous times.
Dessert choices fairly limited, but I think that is fairly standard with Italian restaurants across the board.
A lovely double espresso rounded off the meal nicely.
Lovely setting in an old building as you would expect in York.
