Stopped for a quick coffee on the way to do a little shopping in town. Never been in here before but I have heard good things. From walking in the door we were greeted with friendly hellos from the staff. Ordered a coffee and a tea and within minutes we were served. Very relaxed atmosphere and the cakes looked amazing. We will be back. Special little treat on the side of our cups ….

I have given 5 stars as the food was really delicious but I have one gripe. After ordering the pizza and gelato meal deal I looked at the individual prices to find that I paid £1 more than the individual items. I queried this with the person behind the counter, who had charged me, and was told the pricing was out of her control. Coffee brilliant, food tasty, experience a bit spoiled.

What a great find after coming down from the wall. The coffee is one of the best we've had, made just how we like it. It came with a mini sample gelato cone. The teacake was also delicious. The service and attention to detail was first class. The staff are very customer focused and very friendly. We'll certainly be coming back. We highly recommend a visit here.

Had ice cream here on our first day in York and then returned for coffee and cake on our last day. The cakes are served really nicely with added extras like cream and chocolate sauce and if you have a coffee there is a mini ice-cream attached :-) Great staff too.

Since we’ve tried the gelato here, my wife and I find any excuse to stop by when we’re in town. The pistachio is the best I’ve ever had, so much proper nuts in it! The hazelnut is the same, though I expect you won’t find a bad flavour. I also feel vindicated that we brought our Italian friend here and she agreed that it was amazing.

Lovely to drop in for beautiful Gelato, we both had 2 Scoops, Vanilla and Crunchy cherry, White coffee and Orange blossom, so delicious, soft and silky but the flavours are well defined. Service was rapid and with a smile. We sat in and enjoyed delicious coffee too. Spotlessly clean and a hidden treasure! When we left the queue had built outside for takeaway, we counted 31 people, not surprised, very well worth a visit!

My partner and I have been getting gelato from here on a regular basis since 2020 and it never disappoints. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and the flavour selection is fantastic - I'm yet to try one that I haven't liked. It's so soft and smooth and just delicious - the salted caramel is probably my favourite and it is actually salty! The price has gone up quite a bit this year but so has everything and it's still worth it for a treat.

Excellent coffee which comes with a mini cone of ice cream. Also excellent are the freshly baked croissants which can be filled to order (various flavours). The cannoli are very good and the toasted teacakes not bad. When available the semi-freddo are super.

Lovely Italian couple, pretty little cafe, absolutely delicious Italian pastries and gelato and excellent coffee - by far the best we've found in York. Highly recommend.

After a rather petty experience at another place, now with different owners. We walked out determined to find a better quality service and value ice cream shop. Checked in at the fudge shop who suggested Roberto. Roberto is our now go to place. Lemon and basil extraordinary, my wife's favourite now. 3 to 4 bods flat out serving. Excellent. Busy because good ice cream and value, not because can't keep up, or greedy. Sadly york is now generally over priced.

This is the best! A tiny gem of a cafe that's best appreciated via its gelato & coffee. Homemade gelato is the best we've ever had but pop in for coffee too & relax with your ice cream.

I have just had a strawberry sorbet from here and it was so delicious and flavoursome that I have to rave about it. The last time I went in I had a massive argument with my now ex-wife. That taboo has now been broken and I will be going back regularly.

Went in just before closing today and ordered a hazelnut gelato and it was absolutley delicious. My husband didnt get one but after a try of mine its on his must do list before we leave york. Would definatley reccommend Robertos!

When waiting for an event to start on a Sunday morning it was great to fin Roberto's open before 10.30. Having one grandson who likes coffee and cake but the younger one loves ice cream, this is the perfect choice. There were plenty of flavours to choose from including mulberry and lemon/basil. I hadn't been in the cafe for ages and was delighted with the mini cornet. A big smile on all our faces 😊

As ever in hot weather, there was a pretty long line to get ice cream but it’s well worth the wait. The cookies, oreo and dark chocolate ice creams were great (dark chocolate was particularly intense), but the pistachio ice cream was possibly the best ice cream I’ve ever had. Well worth any wait!

The lazy girl let my crepe cook so long it went hard/crispy. I mentioned this as I left and both the said girl and a man (Roberto?) just looked at each other and silently shrugged their shoulders. Not too clever...!

I live and work in York. Frequently walk past this place and never been in. Was walking home from a meeting and felt a little peckish and fancied a coffee. Spotted some of the delightful pizzas innthe window and thought. Yeh why not. Was only expecting a standard latte and slab of pizza heated up on a plate.What did I get... service with a smile. Two girls behind the counter are friendly and hard working. Clean tables, nice music and my coffee came with a complimentary mini cone and sample scoop of theur gelato ice cream! I've never had that before in any cafe or restaurant ever. And it was only £2.70. You would pay that and more withought any extras! I sadly quickly licked it off before the photo but you will get the gist! Pizza arrived well presented with side salad and crisps. Again it didn't break the bank compared to places like Costa, Starbucks etc. Not that I don't those places of course. But yes, I'll be back. And the gelato ice cream was also to die for. Home made with love. What a lovely little business. My only criticism but is an easy fix is that the menus could do to be reprinted as they are a little blurred in parts. Otherwise my new favourite drop in. X

We came upon this when walking around York and glad that we did, as it was such a great find.One of the best places to get Gelato, Italian bakes, cakes or even a coffee or tea. There is some space to sit down but limited, so be weary. The staff are all friendly and helpful.We will be going here again for sure!

Visited your Driffield shop today. It serves the best coffee in Driffield, the cakes are delicious and the ice cream is absolutely brilliant. A good choice on the menu, gluten free and vegan options. The Staff extremely polite, and would recommend to anyone.

Found this delightful place just further down from the Minster and busier cafes . Great find and place. The coffee and cake selection delicious with the lovely touch of a miniature ice cream cornet on the side. Fab value

Amazing Gelato!! Been here a few times and tried a few different flavours.. Always seem to come back to the extra dark chocolate, it is so smooth and rich. My wife swears by the salted caramel one! I highly recommend trying their gelato.

Absolutely fantastic ice cream Vanilla as good as I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot , so may great flavour combinations I tried lemon and Basil being honest I was sceptical but it was delicious

Popped into the new Driffield cafe after a frantic trip for school supplies. Two tired kids and a frazzled mum. The solution? Wonderful choice of ice cream, generous portions, delicious coffee and heavenly biscuits! I’m going back when the kids are at school for some me time - well worth a visit!

Fell in love with pistachio gelato while on holiday in Sorrento and I've been trying to find decent ice cream since. Flavours tried we're snickers, salted caramel and pistachio. All were great. Many places claim to do pistachio ice cream/gelato but they add about 10% pistachio and 90% almond. This place is genuine. I will make a bee line for this place next time I go to York. The coffee is great too.

There are really no words to describe their gelato...it is simply heaven in a cup! Difficult to choose between the flavours as they look all so yummy and properly italian! Whichever you choose you won't be disappointed...lemon and basil definitely my favourite (together with tiramisu, mango, pistacchio...). Make sure not to miss it!The place is really cosy and staff very friendly.

If the staff are welcoming and friendly and they serve delicious, quality ice cream- does this make the over cream, friendly ice cream? I believe so. Very often a queue outside but grab a ticket and be patient- you too will be as happy as an ice cream. Enjoy!

Ironically we went up Goodramgate to find the tripadvisor top rated cafe in York - only to find it doesn’t open on a Wednesday! But then a couple of doors up we found this gem! Great food and drink, really friendly staff and excellent value. Let’s get this up to the top rating. Loved the quirky mini gelato cone served with coffee.

Came across this cafe/gelato shop by accident and what a pleasant surprise. Food was great, service good and very reasonably priced. The icing on the cake was the free mini gelato cone with the coffee.I thoroughly recommend a visit when you have just escaped the Shambles and want a break from the crowd

Went in for a quick coffee and ended up staying 45 mins and working my way through the cannoli in the window as well. Nice and clean, friendly and reasonably priced

We called in at the Driffield shop 15 minutes before closing time on Thursday and were given a warm welcome.We sat outside and were told to take all the time we needed to have our drinks and eat the delicious gelato.We were very grateful as we had cycled almost 40 miles and had another 12 miles to go.Superb service and the kindest of hosts.I would highly recommend and hope to return sometime soon.

Incredible! Lovely, rich and smooth dark chocolate ice cream served by friendly staff. Our group also had a delicious Nutella and banana crepe. Definitely recommend and I am certainly coming back when I can.

Popped in here for a quick treat with my daughter, we chose to have a waffle with nutella and strawberries. It was really good. A decent portion size and nicely presented.The cafe is quite small but it didn't feel too cramped. Its clean and has a lovely atmosphere. The staff are very friendly.

Having experienced authentic gelato I would never touch the poor imitation called ice Cretan to wippy. Roberts’s is superb, we had three. The pistachio is really good, just like the best in Rome. It’s a little out of the main drag but in a delightful area of great pubs, shops and restaurants. What a find!

Why have I always walked passed here ? ? It is superb, such delightful welcoming staff lovely atmosphere, great music. Ice creams, crepes, milk shakes were fabulous. A hidden gem in York. We were 3 generations, we all loved it and can't wait to return.

This was probably the best thing we could have got in 27 degree heat! They nice lady let us try some flavours before choosing which scoops to have - we settled on extra dark chocolate, mango, strawberry and mint chocolate chip. The fruity flavours were fresh and the chocolate was lovely and dark. They were very generous with the scoop sizes!

If you are into coffee this is the best place to go in York by far. Amazing coffees, great ice creams and awesome selection of cakes, biscotti, cannelloni. Love it.

We went here for morning coffee but went back for lunch as it was so good. Their ice cream is as good as I've had anywhere. Service was good too.

This is such a gem of a place. We have visited twice during our stay because the gelato is so good . This is worth a walk as I don’t think you will find better in Yorkshire!

My husband and I visit a few times each week as the gelato is simply the best!! The staff are extremely friendly and passionate about gelato and they are constantly creating new and exciting flavours.

Everything about this hidden gem made us happy. It doesn’t necessarily look much from the front, unless you see the amazing selection of cakes and ice creams. When you’re asked what you want, let the staff decide. While we ordered, sat, and ate, without fail everybody asked the staff to choose what went with their drinks. They really know their stuff, and their cakes are absolutely to die for. Coffee was the second best I’ve ever tasted too. Really clean, staff attentive and fun, and the products speak for themselves on appearances alone...... they taste as good as they look.

A warm understated welcome greeted me from a kind lady who promptly served me a pizza and coffee for my walk home. Both were on point and with service like that I’ll be returning for ice cream and cake as I pass by, next time. Enjoy!

I've lived in York all my life (27 years) and I've never come across this cute little shop until the last week or 2, after visiting the shambles food market. I'm gutted I never knew this place was here before then, because the Ice creams are beautiful. Generous portion sizes and flavours to suit all pallets. The guy who's been in each time and served us is always so friendly and happy. Once everything opens back up, I'll continue to pop by here every time I'm in town!

Went in today for a quick lunch stop with my brother. Customer service, coffee and the food were all above and beyond. Particularly enjoyed speaking to the staff who were friendly and made us feel very welcome - we will be back for sure! :)

I moved to York last year and have visited Roberto's about 20 times. It is honestly the best gelato I've ever had in the UK. I thoroughly recommend their pistaccio gelato chimney cake. Really friendly Italian guys. Can't recommend it enough.

Went to Roberto’s today for a little afternoon break with my daughter, we just loved this place the decor is simple and pleasant, the cakes unusual and very tasty, the 2 guys working there just spot on. This is going to be one of my « go back » establishment. Well done boys!

All produce from cakes, ice cream and pastries all look top quality and so tempting but I was just passing and grabbed a coffee and hot chocolate, which was also quality. Best of all the friendly, helpful and smiley nature of the staff. Perfect. Enjoy x

We were walking through York and this little café looked really inviting. They did amazing coffee and deserts, particularly the Pistachio and Coffee Cannoli!

The gelato at Roberto's is something every traveller or resident of York should experience. I have had gelato in Rome, Bologna, Pisa, Florence, Paris, etc. and this is the best I have had so far. York is blessed to have this skill level of artistic creation within its walls. I have been many times, and will continue to go back, due to the ingenious and subtle flavour combinations. Every relative or friend that comes to visit York I take them here and hope they will bring their friends and family too so they can experience what true gelato should taste like. Thank you Roberto and the team for the quality work you make sure to provide each day. You are doing Italy and York proud! Cannot give this enough praise.

We decided to have a gelato each amazing choices and we really enjoyed everymouth full. We felt we were back in italy just as good. Will be doing it again in the future. Will try the canolli next.

We visited here twice in two days. It’s set just off the walls, so a nice little stop off from doing the wall walk. Coffee is lovely both times. Also, had shortcake on the first visit, followed by a crepe second. Amazing! Tasty. And I was stuffed. Cafe is very clean. Staff are really friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend for whatever occasion: they have everything from ice cream, to pizza. I personally don’t have ice cream that often but the flavours look amazing! Next time I’m visiting York, I’ll be calling in

Mucho tiempo cuando visita las tiendas de helados, los sorbetes de frutas son a menudo la única opción sin lácteos.Roberto, sin embargo, va un paso más allá. Tienen el MEJOR helado de chocolate negro. Es asombroso. Esto es mejor que el helado. Ni siquiera me gustaba mucho el helado hasta que me comí un Robertos (/ le acabé a mis hijas gigantes de cono doble). Robertos NUNCA NUNCA decepciona, el personal es siempre amable, auténtico y atractivo. Y el helado / gelato es simplemente excepcional. Realmente no puedo calificarlo lo suficiente. Siempre hay sabores nuevos e interesantes que funcionan increíblemente bien. Hemos experimentado tantas sensaciones gustativas de Robertos. . . . . Bacio, higo y ricotta, mora, crema chantilly con un toque de naranja. Por no hablar del incondicional mango, caramelo salado, straceatellia (? ¡Ortografía!). ¡El pastel de café y los bollos también son buenos! Ven aquí.

A mi pareja y a mí nos apetecía mucho un crepe y un batido y encontramos este lugar, ¡fue increíble! El helado de chocolate negro es lo mejor que he probado en mi vida y definitivamente volveré la próxima vez que estemos en York. Nos sentimos bienvenidos tan pronto como entramos.

We spent a lovely weekend in York, temperatures were around 30 degrees and we decided to have an ice cream. I have not tried any other better than this one in UK. It tasted as the ice cream in Italy!

Me and my girlfriend had a return trip to York and after an afternoon of sitting in the sun really wanted an ice cream. We researched and found Roberto's; we made it there 10 minutes before closing and were made to feel very welcome; we ordered large ice cream cones each (I also ordered some cannoli which I cannot resist) and were pleased to say these were the best ice creams we've ever tasted!!. Upon our return to York; come rain or shine we will definitely be going back to Roberto's for another ice cream.

Currently under lockdown one of life's great compensatory pleasures has to be Roberto's delivery service. Easy to order and within a few hours he was knocking on our door with a huge tub of freshly made Stracciatella gelato, a cannoli stuffed with gelato and rolled in chopped pistachios, and a large gelato milkshake (well it seemed rude to make him come all the way round here and not try a good selection of products). This gelato is truly one of the world's great foodstuffs and Roberto's is one of York's great treasures. Thank you sir for making a dull day a lot brighter!

The last time I visited was in early March as a pick me up during my lunch break on a busy work day. The food was absolutely delicious, the coffee was fantastic and the staff were delightful. I have visited several times in the past and found the same experience - friendly staff who put effort into what they do and always make something delicious! I also like coming here for the crepes - the butter and lemon crepe is absolutely fantastic. A true gem of Goodramgate and a consistent favourite of locals and residents. Go nowhere else for your summer treats!

Great gelato, I mean really great gelato! That and the friendly staff make this a must whether you eat in or take away.

El helado aquí es increíble, los sabores son fantásticos. El personal es muy amable también, cualquier oportunidad que pueda llamar en mi descanso del trabajo en Goodramgate. Así que es muy práctico y tentador. Esta semana probé el Semifreddo omg, estaba delicioso, muy bueno, todo hecho en el sitio. Quiero probar los otros también cada vez que visito.Es un lugar popular para visitar.Realmente recomiendo Robertos a cualquiera que visite York.

Hay poco que decir, el mejor helado de la nación se encuentra dentro de estas cuatro paredes. ¿Cómo describir una sensación que se siente al probar un helado de esta inmensa calidad? ! ? Siento que estoy en Italia cada vez que cruzo esa puerta

Qué lujo ! En primer lugar, un café de gran sabor con un pequeño cono de helado en el lateral, que fue una sorpresa encantadora. Luego, los pasteles (que también sabían muy bien) se presentaron con un remolino de crema y un poco de salsa, todo sin más costo que cualquiera de las otras cafeterías. Muy bien decorado, impecablemente limpio con un personal amable y eficiente. Hay muchas opciones para tomar un café en York, ¡pero este debe ser uno de los mejores!

I do love my cake and the coffee and walnut cake was great, the little tiny gelato cone that came with my coffee was amazing, friendly service.

We had just come down the steps after a walk along the wall when we came across this place. We called in for coffee, 2 lattes and a hot chocolate. We were not disappointed, the coffee was lovely and our daughter was completely silent while sipping her hot chocolate and said it was the best! Not forgetting the mini ice cream - such a nice surprise. We also tried a couple of pizza slices which were really tasty and quite light in texture. The only downside was there was no toilet roll in the toilet but all in all a good experience and we would definitely visit again.

Here its great , special tasty food, nice well lit, place, and friendly staff. I would not hesitate in recomending it, the ice cream is superb, as good as i had, in scicily in 2018

I've lived in York all my life, this place is my go-to for ice cream. Easily the best the city has to offer, real flavours made by real Italians! Staff are always super welcoming and accommodating. To summarise: best Ice Cream in York!

Lovely cup of coffee with an added extra of a tiny cornet of delicious icrecream my carrot cake was incredible and my husband had a millionaires shortbread this was a lovely little cafe they did wonderful pizzas too would recommend this place to everyone

Lovely cafe disguised as an ice cream parlour! Best coffee we had in York, served with a tiny ice cream cone - brilliant touch! Sicilian waiter was so nice and friendly. Would thoroughly recommend it - a welcome haven from run of the mill tourist traps.

We called by Roberto's after our walking tour of the York Walls. We met a couple from Fife that we invited to join us for morning tea as the window of this cafe looked so inviting. We enjoyed delicious coffee and cakes and were surprised by a mini cornet filled with gelato that was at the side of our cups. What a lovely indulgent surprise that we all enjoyed. The cafe may be small, but we got a warm welcome, excellent service and the most delicious morning tea at reasonable cost. A fabulous and truly memorable moment from York.

Ok so it was cold and wet in York today and we had been walking the busy streets for over an hour . I had promised my niece the best gelato or ice cream in town. She and the rest of the family were very satisfied indeed. She actually chose the mango sorbet. And most of us had the pistachio, but the service was fabulous. The product delightful and the restaurant lovely and warm.

Having two girls and living in York for over 10 years, I can honestly say that tried pretty much most icecream places in York. This one is by far our winner - true Italian ice cream with very generous portions and ever friendly staff! Never felt rushed when struggling to choose from the flavours and always smiles for the kids. Needless to say we are regulars! Highly recommended!

Lovely clean fresh premises serving the most delicious gelato ice cream. My favourite flavour is cherry and the intense cherry flavour was sublime. This place offers a must have treat.

I'm blessed to work literally opposite this fine establishment. Wide selection of Italian desserts at a reasonable price. I'm yet to try the pizza, but if its anything like their desserts; I'm in for a treat.
