The best restaurants serving Default food in Newark and Sherwood East Midlands

I booked to visit the white post a week in advance, for my son's 4th birthday with family. We placed our food orders and after a hour of waiting a member of staff came to tell us the grill had stopped working and could only do limited food. We wasn't to pleased with this, with waiting a hour and now having to wait a lot longer for food we didn't want. So we decided to take a refund. They offered a apology but no extras or vouchers for our time wasted and for the children waiting so long for food they never got. Very very disappointing.

We ate out every night during our one week holiday at Sherwood Forest. Without question, our best meal was at Huck’s. We have been talking about it the following night and we have come to the conclusion that while the food was excellent, it was the attentive, funny and warm service we received from Sophie. She is an amazing asset to your restaurant. Good luck with the law degree and enjoy your holiday!!

We booked a table for 12.45. We were still waiting for our main meals at 2.30. We were offered no apology or explanation of what had happened. We eventually left with no food and no apology after a two hour wait. Awful service We would not come here again.

We’d passed here a million times and always talked about trying it, and decided tonight to go in whilst on the way home and we are SO glad that we did. Really clean,great food, lovely atmosphere and amazing staff. I came with my husband and two sons and we went just after they opened. The staff member who served us was a lovely red haired gent who was super attentive and friendly. After our starters it started picking up and the restaurant was full, and our server still gave us top notch service and kept on top of the other tables too. I didn’t grab his name, but he was so lovely to our sons and super friendly and professional: he’s a credit to he place. If I were to ever open a business he is the type of person I would want at the forefront of it. We were saddened to hear that it might be moving to just a takeaway soon at a different address. Our only regret is that we didn’t drive in and try it sooner. What a Fabulous little gem. Wonderful food and great portion sizes. My son (age 4) even said “Compliments to the chef”! Only thing I would note is we weren’t given an option to tip when we checked out by the woman on the till. Our server saw us and asked to say goodbye to our boys and give them a lollipop each which was just a lovely touch and really made our day. We wanted to tip him but unfortunately we don’t carry cash and there was no option given upon paying. I hardly ever leave reviews but felt winner city(and the server) really deserves to be praised. We hope to return before the closure, and we’ll be recommending to all our family and friends. If you’re unsure as to whether to go, please do it! You won’t regret trying it.

Visited tonight for a birthday meal. Large group of us. Food order submitted a week ago to support the ordering. 27 meals all arrived at the same time. Service 100% food quality 100%. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Have had many take-aways and deliveries from here in the past which have been fine. Ordered a delivery last night and was overcharged and they missed items off the delivery. I rang and was very polite and said that items had been missed. The girl on the phone was very rude and put the phone down on me. I didn't get the chance to discuss being over charged. I called today to speak to the manager as I was taken aback by being cut off and the manager also put the phone down on me. I was very polite and I actually never complain but they clearly don't welcome feedback or queries re orders. Being charged £13 delivery to the next village is way over the top. They were not interested in discussing this either. Food tasteless and bland. Very poor service. Won't be using again.

I didn't enjoy my meal here -though others did. I was disappointed and have fed this back the restaurant . i know it is well liked

Shocking Christmas Eve service, pre ordered 12.45pm and delivery booked 7.10pm 7.15pm spoke shop they said driver just left!!!!!! 7.45pm no food me or another person called shop to find out they LOST OUR TICKET!!!!! Clearly money over orders and can't deliver on big nights which make big companies!!!!! Maybe don't open or limit orders and stop being greedy

Very fresh well prepared food , the staff in the restaurant were very welcoming and efficient. The tables were very clean as was the whole restaurant. We had the hot food , chicken pie and chips peas and gravy and cheese and onion pie chips peas and gravy , to be recommended! Lovely , you have to go , we will be returning . A big thankyou to all the hard working staff .x

I normally go to the Gannets in Newark . This one is much smaller and not as cosy . It’s not warm as there’s doors all over . There was a wait for coffee . I will stick with the town one .

Friendly and place is decorated brilliantly but very disappointed in the food choice for lactose intolerance. No cake choice at all if you are lactose free so only able to have a drink. They do soya milk.I'd have thought a place like this would cater for all as it is a family cafe.

Visited the cafe a couple of years ago and to be honest was quite disappointed . Heard recently tthat the cafe been taken over so thought we would come back and try it again . We only had coffee and cake/scones which was very nice but compared to other cafes in the area the portion sizes are certainly not as generous. . The piece of cake was small and the scone was a lot smaller than we usually get elsewhere. We will call in again but please take this as constructive criticism. Other people we have spoken too have said exactly the same .

I admit I fell asleep, but when I rang the restaurant they lied and said they had left it at the door. Mine and my neighbours cameras show otherwise. Shady business. Will be taking them to small claims on principle. Beware.

This was a really pleasant surprise for us. We've visited Newark many times, but never thought to drop in at the Old Post Office. A large pub which appears to have an excellent choice of well-prepared food and very pleasant staff and service. I happened to mention to the barmaid, when ordering food, that I have a 'suspected' intolerance to gluten problem and a little later a member if staff from the kitchen came to our table to explain the gluten-content of our food. I was surprised and impressed. I would definitely come back here again.
