The Cottage - Takeaway & Restaurant in Newark and Sherwood

I admit I fell asleep, but when I rang the restaurant they lied and said they had left it at the door. Mine and my neighbours cameras show otherwise. Shady business. Will be taking them to small claims on principle. Beware.

Have used Cottage and its predecessor La Bangla for many years when both were dine in. We now use it for take away all to our satisfaction but regret it no longer does dine in. We found service better than other outlets.

By far the best place I have found for a curry - the garlic chilli chicken is out of this world, I’d give an organ for the recipe! Also do amazing pizza and the milkshakes are as good as anywhere else you can get one.

Impeccable service, looked after from start to finish, food tasted amazing and it came relatively quick, would definitely recommend !

Located right on High Street in East Leake, it is one of the only places in town serving food on Sunday nights. We had Tikka Masala, Korma, onion bhaji starter, chicken tikka starter, Bombay Aloo, boiled rice, pilau rice, plain nan, garlic nan and poppadom’s with pickle. It was all very good. We were here on holidays, but would eat here again if we were in the area.

Take away ordered. Took over an hour to arrive. Burnt chicken wings, soggy chips. Pizza was okay. Overall a meh from me.

This place is an Indian take away that doubles as a pizza take away - which says it all. I have default meals I use to test restaurants/take away (eg lasagne in Italian restaurants etc.). For Indian cuisine it is a Chicken Rogan Josh. This was quite simply the worst I have ever tasted! The chicken was dry (it had obviously been cooked earlier and kept warm) and the sauce lacked any real taste or punch. The garlic naan I ordered was undercooked and "doughy" and on further inspection turned out to be nothing more than a thin pizza base covered in dice garlic from a tin or jar but certainly not fresh. Probably the worst Indian meal I have ever had!

We had a problem with our order when home delivered, we rang them up and they sent a driver back out with the correct order very quickly. Tasty kebab definitely recommend.

Terrible, ordered food for delivery at 6.30 and it finally arrived 2hrs 15 minutes later having called twice and been give false promises of it being on the way. Ruined the evening and the food was disappointing. Last time I order here.

Another excellent meal from The Cottage!! Really can’t rate this place highly enough. The curry meal deals are excellent value with Chicken Tikka starters, Onion Bahjis and Poppadum’s. And that’s before you get to your curry and Naan.

This is not the best looking place in the world but the food is BRILLIANT - cannot praise this enough. If you want a good Indian - takeaway or eat in - you will not be disappointed.

First time visiting here as needed to pick up some food for my partner in the evening. You can get takeout or eat in here as half of the restaurant is seating area. Tried a few things off the menu and I’m not someone who’s good but my partner said I had to try and it wasn’t spicy at all tasted amazing! The service was fast and friendly, very reasonable prices.. would recommend as great place in the area.
