Well All I can say is I do not know where these people who leave poor reviews, about this great Cafe and it’s lovely staff normally eat. They must go to some posh Bistros. The staff are lovely 😊 The food is freshly cooked and tastes wonderful. 😊 and budget friendly too. 2 full breakfast with toast and a cuppa of choice for about £10 ... bring it on !! The Cafe toilets are good 😊 During these Covid times there is a one way system in place ... what is so difficult 🤔 about following signs. Just this weekend we watched incredulously whilst one particular couple drove the assistant (and us queuing) to distraction when they insisted they wanted scrambled egg.....the breakfast comes with Fried egg or no egg .. simple .. you can have an extra bacon or sausage in its place ..... all he kept saying was I don’t eat fried egg and his partner was repeating everything he said... ha... well he got extra bacon in the end... then to top It all off they left most of the food they had moaned about and split up leaving the Cafe ... one went through the ‘in’ door and the other ... who the assistant caught in time was asked to leave by the ‘out’ door. The one who stood by the in door was shouting to her hubby to follow her ..... I was totally bemused by it all. Oh and tables were cleaned and sanitizer immediately people left the cafe .. Week done ladies for a safe comfortable eating experience during these testing times. 👍😊

Visited Brownhills to get some information on motorhomes, the showroom was lovely as were the staff. we decided to have a snack in the cafe but didnt get the most friendly of welcomes. it seemed the staff didnt particularly like us younger people (we are 44 and 49) as we noticed how friendly they were to the elder visitors! food was nice but were told off for exiting via the toilets..when everyone else had done the same! shame as brownhills itslef is very friendly especially Megan in sales.

While staying at Newark show ground we had to seek a puncture repair kit for our awning and saw the cafe. I have never been in a more friendly place the staff were excellent and the food was very good all homemade. The room was very clean and inviting and I would definitely recommend it.

I recently visited this bistro after looking into purchasing a new motor home. The staff were all lovely and welcoming, it was like we had known them for years!! The food was lovely and there was plenty of it and nothing was too much trouble. I asked for a small amount of my food in a bowl for my baby girl and they were more than happy to oblige and were super friendly with the children. The prices were very reasonable and the service was top class!! We were served by Dawn who was a lovely lady and treat us to friendly service and chat. I will definitely return for a meal when I’m passing and then will obviously be tempted by the accessory shop as usual!! Thanks to all the lovely ladies in the bistro, you do a brilliant job!

We popped into this cafe on Saturday afternoon after a browse of Brownhills motorhome showroom. The showroom shouts quality and obvious customer centered attitude. We were very surprised that the adjacent cafe couldn't have been less so. We walked in to a very curt welcome. There's really no obvious menu, so we were naturally a little confused and looked around for a price list of some sort. After a moment the woman flatly stated that they "only had what's left here. And your coffee or tea." There were about 5 cakes and 2 scones. We both ordered a scone. I enquired about cream and was told there was none. They had jam which was pre packaged and cost 15p extra. They advertise outside that they do afternoon tea, so I was surprised at the absence of cream. The tables are nice and new but most were covered in crumbs and bits from previous customers. The scone was terrible. A shiny, slightly rubbery outer surface and dry, thick and crumbly inside. They tasted so much of baking powder that my tongue and roof of my mouth were stinging. Very cheap and very nasty. My partner said the same. I couldn't eat mine. We left soon afterward, with out any acknowledgment from the staff, who were then lounging on the customer chairs drinking coffee. I used the toilet facilities which are very tired. Toilet bowl heavily stained from lime scale and being cleaned with stainless steel, bolt wobbly and the sink looked stained. Pretty shocking considering the obvious money put into the showroom. I would think they would want customers to feel the same comfort and welcome from the cafe. Never to return and will not recommend.

Not posh but a great and reasonable place to stop. Staff are always friendly and the food is excellent value for money. We often call in on our way home from travels and have a look at the motorhomes for sale and in the accessory shop. Brownhills are also great for difficult to find spares for your motorhome

My previous review wasn't a happy one due to abysmal service so it was against my better judgement to return, but persuaded by a thirsty hungry better half, I found myself back in, and what a surprise! The staff were lovely (relieved to see the tall dark haired lady behind the counter). We had a light lunch which was very nice which came with a very generous salad. So I guess this will be back on our list of comfort stops!

Anyone who reads my reviews will notice I very rarely write a poor one, well - here's the exception! If you arrive after 2 minutes after they finish serving breakfast/diner/hot foods don't expect them to be helpful or friendly. When it became apparent we were looking for something substantial the chips disappeared faster than the speed of light, and the jackets were grudgingly offered when it became apparent they couldn't make them disappear as quickly. The woman who served me was obviously not happy (this was 2.15 by now, they don't shut until 4pm ?) and couldn't even be bothered to place my husbands lunch in front of him, plonking it down next to my plate. Thankfully there was a McDonalds nearby to get my grandson something. We always stop here for lunch on our way to and from the Midlands, always buy something in the shop, and always look at the motorhomes to see if there's anything worth replacing ours with - but not anymore. We'll press on to The Dukeries where they at least serve you with a smile. Shame really as the tall dark haired waitress is really pleasant, perhaps she should train the other woman in Customer Care.

We used go to Brownhills quite a lot a few years ago but they suddenly changed hands or the cook left and meals were never the same so we stopped going. Thought we'd give it another go after a few years away and were surprised to see it nearly empty on a busy Saturday near Christmas. There were no menus and nothing on the chalk board and the only thing we could see were a few sausage rolls and a pie. So we had to ask what hot food there was, I think the lady said there were jackets as well as what we could see, which was basically nothing! We went for the steak pie, which is stretching the imagination somewhat because I couldn't find more than a few tiny scraps of steak in the pie, it was full of mushrooms and something else that was brown coloured... the other half hates mushrooms so he wasn't best pleased. I thought it tasted ok but we had no choice of veg, it just turned up with chips and peas. I asked for a decaf coffee but could only have instant which wasn't too bad and the other half had a latte. Staff here are very pleasant and it's a pity they have to work with such a small menu or should I say NO menu. The room is large with a lot of seating and a nice sofa area if you want just coffee and it's clean and inviting but the food doesn't match up. I think we paid about £14 for two meals and two hot drinks so not too bad on price.... would we go again, no probably not with the current state of the menu.

Popped in for a quick afternoon and and discovered that tea/coffee and cake for 2 was just £5 - That did us nicely. Milky coffee and 2 pieces of fresh moist fruit cake was just what we needed on a rainy afternoon after looking at motorhomes. Nicely furnished and decorated with table and soft seating and a TV to watch.

We’ve been working away from home for the past five weeks and have eaten at The Post Office in Newark almost every night. It’s become our go-to spot! The staff here is fantastic, always welcoming and attentive—Kenzie, in particular, has been amazing, making sure we’re well taken care of each time we come in. They even switch the sports channel to our local team’s games, which makes us feel right at home. The food is top-notch! We had the Jingle Bell Beef burger, and it was excellent—perfectly cooked with incredible flavor, paired with crispy, beer-battered onion rings. We can also highly recommend the mixed grill and fish and chips—both were delicious and generous portions. The beer selection is solid too! If you’re looking for great food, friendly service, and a spot to catch a game, The Post Office is the place to be. We’ll definitely miss this place when we head home! ( coffee & smashed glass )
