Took my mother in law for her birthday for Sunday lunch ( we had been many times before & had been good ) we were shown to our sticky table after waiting some time even though we were booked . Drink order taken , over 10 minutes later still no drinks and when they arrived they were wrong . Lunch came after an unreasonable wait , still no cutlery? 2 of us had the lamb but sadly it was like 2 pieces of streaky bacon ! Very little meat . The beef for the other 2 Was more generous. One of our dinners came without the veg of which they eventually bought out . My Yorkshire pudding was dripping in oil and inedible . To finish if we were then over charged on bill for the wrong drinks . The whole experience was dreadful & left us feeling like we won’t go back sadly .

Wow wow wow, we went for a mid week tea, they had an offer on the Autumn menu for 25% off. Food was of great quality and for the price probably the best meal I’ve had this year.

The atmosphere in here is spot on and the drinks are good however a little pricey. I had the prawn starter which was absolutely amazing, however the rest of the food was average. The chicken wings were fine, as was the burger, but nothing to write home about (especially for the price). The mac and cheese with beef rib could have been delicious (and the first it really was) but the blue cheese crumb let it down as it was just too thick and sickly - and I love blue cheese! The worst part of the meal was the onion rings - don’t waste your time, frozen and tasteless. Overall I’m not sure it was worth the price which is a shame as it’s got so much potential!

We are fairly new to Lincoln, and are trying different pubs that are rated or recommended. The pub is very pretty and appealing aesthetically inside and out and the Sunday menu looked good. We had to wait as our table hadn’t been cleared so we had a drink outside. By the time we were called we had decided what we wanted. We both went for the chicken with smoked garlic croquettes which was delicious. I ordered roast beef and my husband asked for two different meats at an extra £3.50. Not knowing what to expect, he ordered an extra Yorkshire, and I ordered the 3 sides at £5 each or 3 for £12. I noticed that for some reason our server didn’t write down the extra veg, but I saw her trying to put it to memory. We couldn’t quite work out why there was an extra charge for the two different meats as my husband got the same quantity of meat as me. We ordered 2 sausages at £2 each for our dog 😣 My meal had a strong taste as if something had burnt on the pan, my beef was just a little scorched on one side, as if it had been warmed up on a grill, then I wondered if the gravy had burnt, my husband had the same taste with his, it permeated through the food. The potatoes and veg were all beautifully cooked but they had forgotten the extra veg, and had sent two extra Yorkshire’s instead of one! At the end of our meal I raised the issue of the burnt taste with our server, and she said she would find out what it could be, she returned to our table sometime later to finish clearing and I had to ask her how she had got on, I had the distinct feeling that she had forgotten the issue before she’d even arrived at the kitchen. So I asked again and she said she’d ask her manager. I never did get any feedback. It wasn’t a total disaster but the service is definitely an issue. We waited ages for our 2nd lot of drinks, the extra veg was missing, and despite asking for our bill and waiting some time, had to go up to the bar and ask again. The fact that our server felt that it wasn’t important to find out what the ‘burnt’ issue was nor to feedback to us, was very poor. She had said she’d report it to her manager, we wonder if she ever did……

Walked into an empty pub, which should have sounded alarm bells. Waitress initially attentive but went downhill from there. Waited patiently for the young lady to take our order, but in the end, went to the bar to gain attention. Order placed at the bar and staters arrived. Starters were good quality however, the mains otherwise. Pie was burnt and dry inside, fish batter not adequately cooked. At no time were we offered further beverages and to gain attention, in a less than busy pub, another trip to the bar was required. We were sat off the bar area, and should have asked to move to ‘The Lounge’ as one particular gentleman was constantly on the phone in the bar, he in a fairly raised voice continued, it seemed, to run his business from it. Very off putting when trying to enjoy a relaxing meal. This visit was spoiled by the inability of the young lady to pay basic attention to her guests in the taking of orders. Food average quality although has been better in the past.

The first flavoursome meal we’d had in over two weeks, and hearty portion sizes. We came again and had the salmon which was equally superb. Could not recommend this chef more highly. Looking at reviews, I can assume we had a very off night. Very poor , slow service, seems staffed by students, who try but are struggling. Food average, obviously trying to be more upmarket Bistro type pub but failing. Pasta in particular was very poor, in presentation and taste. Been before for lunch , which was fine but basically this is a good pub for straightforward food, preferably lunch time but not recommended for dinner

We went to the Bottle and Glass last Saturday 9th March 2024. We were a party of 8 (5 adults and 3 children). We ordered off the set lunch menu, when we ordered we asked if the kids meals could come out with our starters. 4 of the 5 starters came but my Dad's soup took another 20 minutes and by the time it arrived the other 4 had finished eating (and still no sign of the kids food). Then the main courses turned up before the starters had been cleared away (and my dad was still having his soup) 2 of the mains were 15 minutes behind the others and then the kids food finally turned up. We then ordered 2 coffees and 1 tea, the coffees took 20 minutes to come and we had to chase the tea up, by the time the tea had arrived the coffees had been drank. I mentioned this when paying and he was kind enough to take the tea off the bill. We spent over £200 on this meal and I have to say it just wasn't worth it. OK food, great pub, dreadful dreadful service. I also have to say I was really surprised they are charging £9 for a 125ml glass of wine! We've since written to the Bottle and Glass, but surprisingly no reply! Do not recommend, living off their past reputation.

I visited The Bottle & Glass for Mother's day 2024. The table was booked many months ago as I have wanted to visit here for a while. On arrival, we were informed that our table was not yet ready, and we were offered to have a drink at the bar, despite there being no space to stand away from the main entrance, and nowhere to sit at the bar. We were offered a glass of prosecco as per the set menu for mother's day, 3 courses plus a glass of fizz on arrival for £40. The bar staff stated that it is only the women who get a glass of prosecco as it is mother's day. The menu and all promotional material stated the set menu included a glass of prosecco, no mention of 'for women only' and no sign of any small print anywhere. We asked why it is only for women, and were told because it's mother's day. It was such a shame because there was nothing written anywhere to say this was the case. We were then asked to pay for our drinks immediately, and unable to put them onto our meal table, as our table was not yet ready. This felt bizarre and unnecessary, we were going to be spending £120+ on food, but needed to pay for our drinks at the bar before eating our meal. On arrival at our table, one of the cushioned chairs was saturated with fluid, luckily we realised before sitting into the unknown liquid. Despite the bizarre prosecco debacle and the other service issues, the food was delicious. Great flavour, fantastic seasoning, good portion sizes. The chef is clearly skilled, but the meal was let down by the service. I will not be returning as I do not trust the "deals" or "set menus" offered without hidden terms or extra fees.

Really poor service experienced here. The staff didn’t know the specials of the day or drinks at the bar, our food came out very slowly and also came cold to the table. We sent our food back and it came out cold again. Given the previous reviews this is an ongoing problem. The staff are clearly young and inexperienced and there’s no management in sight directing the place. Staff bitching from the kitchen within meters of the toilets is unprofessional. The baby changing is in the ladies only and you have to lock the whole bathroom in order to use it. It’s expensive for families to go out in the current climate so it’s a treat when we do and we expect a decent level of service and attentiveness. Very disappointing overall.

Having visited the Bottle and Glass a number of times, we have always enjoyed our time there. However on this occasion it was not up to standard. The service was shambolic. We didn't have a reservation but as the pub wasn't busy, we were able to get a seat. We asked for a table with a little more room and that was quieter, as we had two babies in prams. We were given a table but advised that there would be a table of 7 arriving but not for an hour or so. Within 5 minutes that table arrived, so that meant our lunch was no longer quiet. We were greeted quickly at the table and drinks arrived quickly. However, when it came to the food service that was something that let everything down. We all ordered the 2 course lunch but all the starters arrived at different times. The starter of the day, the pork belly arrived cold as it had clearly been sat under the hot cupboard. We asked to send it back, of which the second pork belly arrived cold. The soup arrived without a soup spoon and separate to the other starters. The starters took 40 minutes to arrive from sitting down, which seemed a long time. When our main courses arrived, we asked for sauces to accompany the dishes. After 15 minutes these sauces still hadn't arrived, despite the fact we asked the waitress twice. Eventually it came to standing by the kitchen to ensure that we could get sauces to eat our mains. The mains themselves were nice and good quality. There were no check backs at the table whilst eating, to ensure that we were happy. I did mention about the slow service, of which we were offered a free round of drinks. However, that wasn't going to reflect how bad the service was. We bought our friends who were visiting from London, to our favourite pub in the area but that has now been tainted and we won't be returning anytime soon. The pub is beautiful, but you need to train your staff the basics of service.

B&G offer a 2 or 3 course Sunday lunch menu reasonably priced, we were looking forward, as a group of 3 couples, to having a good quality meal for one of our get togethers. We arrived a few minutes early, the pub wasn’t especially busy with a few empty tables. We were promptly shown to ours, however it was only prepared with 5 settings rather than 6. We moved a chair from another table so we could all be seated. Fairly quickly we were asked for drinks (we asked for a missing set of cutlery at the time ) which took 15 minutes to arrive, however the waitress was unaware whatever the drinks were, and one was brought as a pint instead of a half. We noticed that the table was sticky in places and we don’t think it had been wiped down properly between sittings. The drinks menu was so disgustingly sticky and grubby that we moved it off the table. It was about 20 minutes before we were asked for our orders, 3 starter soups and 6 mains. The small bowls of soup came quickly with a hot bread roll and cold butter which couldn’t be spread properly. Soup spoons were not brought and we had to ask for them. Mains came shortly afterwards, 5 roast dinners (we had ordered 1 beef +lamb, 2 beef, a lamb and 1 chicken), and a Thai sea bass fillet. Initially presented with a 3rd beef instead of chicken dinner, it was replaced promptly. I’d describe the roast dinners as typically mass produced pub Sunday roast, good Yorkshires, however the beef and lamb promised in the menu as pink, was anything but, and was well done. The carrots and parsnips were overcooked and the roast potatoes were soggy. I really do not like the way that all of the items food are piled on top of each other, you have to totally deconstruct to see what you’ve been presented with. The lamb was very fatty - you always expect some fat, but too much for one of our diners. We had to ask for the sixth set of cutlery again, which had been forgotten about. My roast dinner wasn’t particularly hot. The pan seared sea bass came with a fondant potato which should have been soft, but was hard and undercooked. The sea bass did not look to have been pan seared, there was no charring at all on the flaccid skin which should have been crispy. The Thai red coconut sauce was spicy hot and a nice coconut flavour, but was lacking in Thai flavours. For dessert we had 3 sticky toffee puddings and an Apple and Stem ginger walnut crumble. One of us asked for Christmas pudding ice cream with the pudding, but we all got vanilla. The pudding was more like a slice of cake, I usually expect to see dates in a STP, but couldn’t see any, and the light toffee sauce didn’t resemble the dark sugar caramel which was promised, and there was nothing like enough if it. But it did taste nice and the vanilla ice cream was lovely. The fruit in the crumble was cooked well and had a really nice flavour of ginger, but there was no sign of any stem ginger. The crumble wasn’t really a crumble but a scattering of oats and on the surface. There were no discernible signs of walnuts. It was still a very good gluten free dessert. One of our party who wasn’t having dessert requested a tea, but it didn’t arrive. We asked again and it came as a 3/4 cupful with milk already added, with two sugar cubes on the saucer, but no spoon . Usually we would expect a pot, separate milk and sugar. We then asked for a pot of tea for 2, but were served two half cups of already milked tea, no sugar. They had run out of teapotsWe had to ask for hot water to top up the tea. The Bottle & Glass is styled as a gastropub, but on the evidence of the food and service today, is nowhere near that standard. The waiters and waitresses, whilst being very pleasant and attentive, under clear instructions to sell more drinks, and to ask if food is ok (but don’t ask within a minute of receiving food if it’s ok) weren’t able to mask the failures here, there’s no attention to detail, no one follows up if there’s a problem, and the food is average pub fare at best. Considering that it wasn’t particularly busy, the service was slow. You are nominated a 2 hour slot for the table, but our 3 courses, and drinks weren’t served promptly enough to dine and finish up within the two hours. Sorry if it’s a long winded review, but we came away rather disappointed. Food needs to improve and staff need a lot of training.

Arrived for lunch family of 7 (2 children) reservation; left stood in doorway for 5minutes - only when we went to sit at large table told, ‘your table is back there’. Quickly realised was going to be nightmare… sat for 5mins before had to go and get own menus, waited another 20mins before drink order taken (which didn’t come for another 15min). Yes, sat for 40 minutes before drinks arrived and food order taken. Food was actually good, well cooked and presented nicely. Drinks massively overpriced ie £14 glass of white wine. All told, massive shame (won’t visit again) - lovely little pub, good food but service was the worst experienced in a number of years.

Third time we’ve been and by far the worst. Drink service was really slow, waitress service was great (sorry I don’t know your name) food was awful. Both dishes drowned in oil and inedible. The chefs reportedly said that it was unacceptable, as did the...

This just feels like our away from home local when we are camping in nearby Swinethorpe. The starters and mains were gorgeous as ever, but the white chocolate and Miso Creme Brulee was to die for 🌝🍮

Whilst the children and grandchildren found the menu to their modern tastes and certainly the parents enjoyed the evening, grandma and grandad were not enthralled by the menu. Equally the grandchildren did not empty their plates. The ambiance is pleasant, staff are helpful and friendly.

The Bottle and Glass is quintessential English Country pub brought into the 21st century via a gastro-pub paint job and a menu using some italics. Lovely village location. We ate early evening and chose the Crispy Paneer Burger (£16.00) and Ragu Pappardelle (£16.00). Sides were...

Sausage: 1.5 - A pair of uninspired bangers is on offer at PJ's. Definitely on the lower end of the quality scale but that’s fairly common for a caff fry-up. Other Ingredients: 3.0 - I was given the choice of toast or fried bread when ordering, so naturally opted for the fried slice. And it was a triumph, perfectly crispy with the slightest hint of soggy – so lush. I quickly ramped up the delectable sogginess by cutting into the grilled tomato and egg yolks on the top, and adding a good portion of baked beans. Finally I must praise the bacon, large rashers with the fat still on, cooked the way I prefer. Nice work. Staff & Stuff: 3.5 - Staff so friendly that you won’t want to leave. Yes, really. This café is American-themed so you know what to expect décor and music-wise. It’s a very comfortable place and ideal for a spot of people watching with its big windows. Cutlery was the infant school variety which I’m not a fan of, but the warm welcome here is lovely. VFM: 3.0 - Breakfast £8.95, pot of tea £2.75, total £11.70. Pros and cons at PJ’s but overall I reckon it’s decent VFM. Yee-ha! Total: 11.0

Went here on the Saturday, table of two. Drinks were the same price as rest of the complex, food was expensive but I would have eaten 60 of those cheeseburgers if I had the capacity to do so. The lad that served us, Jack M, was a legend and made sure everything went smoothly, food came out quickly, Great night 🔥
