Costa Coffee in Newark and Sherwood

Very friendly and helpful staff. Great coffee and hot chocolate always at the right temperature. Spoilt by a loud group of elderly people who appear to meet there ever morning and stay all morning. They all try to speak at once and you can even hear them clearly from the toilets. They drown out your own conversation. Now going elsewhere or afternoons only.

Young lady that served us was very rude. I had no idea what to order and asked if there was a menu and she was very unhelpful. If I wasn't with others I'd have gone elsewhere. The coffee isn't great and I can't say it's has the cosy coffee shop feel that other Costas have. Everyone working there seems fed up.

The food and drinks are always good. I really enjoy the salted caramel frappe’s. It’s a large store and it has a warm and cosy vibe. Toilets are decent. Service could be a little quicker but it’s a coffee shop so who really cares

I'm a Costa lover but newark centre not good never enough staff and very untidy and getting very expensive compared to others! I now only pop in now and again used to be a regular

Contrary to another review from someone else last year, I don’t have an issue with seeing anyone drinking water with a straw (hydrate however you want) and thankfully I am aware that ordering a regular is a medium size too. All members of staff were very inviting, welcoming and very easy to talk to. Didn’t see anyone on their phone aside from when on break. The coffee was great and everything was very clean. I have been going regularly and will most definitely continue to do so. 100% beats the store I have close to my workplace in Lincoln!

We arrived at 4.10 it's closes at 5 and was asked if ok in takeaway cups as they said they were closing soon, I could have to Greg's for half the price for a paper cup. I just said yes I guess it was to much trouble to wash 2 mugs

Excellent place for a coffee and a snack, went in yesterday with my Grandchildren, lovely helpful staff and Michelle was great with the little ones, nothing too much trouble and a relaxed, welcoming place, well done, credit where credit’s due.

Overall OK for a quick brunch and a good cappuccino. Good parking space and appreciated the friendly staff. What I missed was its level of cleanliness.The place could have been cleaner.

I was served by Jodie - the rudest person I have ever encountered - I ordered an apple tart and she gave me a broken peace I asked for another - she threw the plate banging them- then went and got another one touching with her hands and I told her I don’t think I deserve this service she said I got you another peace - kept making mad eye gestures - didn’t say thank you .. this is the worst customer service I have ever experienced - order no. 285 - receipt 223069- newark the maltings RP unit 1D.

From time to time I visit this Costa and mostly order hot chocolate. Costa's hot chocolate got unique taste. I tasted their seasonal hot beverage. Blackforest Hot Chocolate with Cream. Also recommend their aromatic flat white coffee and Gingerbread Latte with Cream. Soon it becomes like diary from my latest visits to Costa. So last time tasted well baked sandwich and hot chocolate.

Only options for our dairy free 20 month old was toast, but it'd hard to find anything for her in most places. A couple of nice big tables which is great as a larger family.

This is for the lady who gave me two drinks as a “surprise and delight” gift today at Newark Northgate Station. My gift card balance didn’t update so I couldn’t use it. I kept looking while she made our drinks and she came back and said it’s on me. I was so surprised and absolutely thrilled that this little offer of kindness had been given to me today. Called in here for a spot of lunch on Saturday ,the place was heaving but my husband managed to find an empty table,after a long wait in the queue I was served,I had two Bacon and Brie Panini's that wanted heating up,my coffee was made while I waited,took them to our table and my Panini was stone cold in the middle,the cheese wasn't even melted,my husband's was just warm,it couldn't of been given the set time to warm up in the oven as they were heaving.i ate it as was hungry and couldn't possibly stand in that queue again to tell them it was cold.A disappointing expensive lunch !

This place was very tired decoration wise also it was in need of a good clean!!!

Ordered regular and sat down and got a medium ! Both drinks so extra cost hot chocolate wasn't hot. Place wasn't very clean counter staff stood drinking water through her straw and using phone by the till ! Tables needed clearing customer's were sitting at dirty tables and moving cups and trays to next tables.

Usual experience here very friendly and helpful staff and better coffee than Starbucks as it is served hot not warm can't fault the service.

Update Feb '23. Food and drink still a strong 4 but service leapt to a 5. Nice one! The man who served me was engaging, interested and made conversation. Service was quick again and the coffee and toasties were just right. Well done for the improvement. 'Before' My local town centre Costa which I use regularly. 4 stars for food & drink but new staff brings down to 3. Staff not rude or anything just not aware of customer service really! Previous staff (now at new satellite) were very friendly and engaging. Just a "Hi" or "good morning" and a smile to greet is nice and when waiting for something to be heated up a "the food will just be a second" helps you feel confident you've not been forgotten. However, coffee was very good and the food was not too long in coming and good when done. Will definitely be dropping in again. Thanks.

It's like most Costa Coffee outlets, overpriced, luke warm welcome with a hint of naff warm coffee & stale banana loaf. See you soon 😀

Ordered 2 drinks at the Stodman Street Costa. Both were wrong. Had 1st one corrected but daughter didn't want a fuss so kept hers. No apology. Told my daughter they didn't do the drink she had ordered so had to show it in the menu! My replacement drink was not good, couldn't finish it. Barely any flavour. Didn't complain again as won't be visiting again anyway.

Service with a scowl! Possibly the grumpiest staff I have ever come across in a cafe. Please note that it is also self-service - You clear and clean your own table (even when the place is less than half full). 😕

Big shop. Quiet at the time of visit so service was quick.

Didn't listen to my wife when she asked for and double checked for a decaff coffee shot in her drink due to dietary requirements. The lady that made it made it with caffeinated and then shouted at my wife when she said it wasn't right. She then proceeded to try and tell the next customer it was their drink when it clearly wasn't. Horrendous attitude and shocking standards of work

Took a long time to get a basic order done, people behind me in the cue got there orders before, and I go to the upstairs seating as downstairs was full and find there's some kind of large noisy women's meeting group there.... only came for a bit of peace and quiet... won't be returning again....

If I could give it zero stars, I would. Was queuing for almost 10 minutes and there were only 3 people in front of me and probably another 6, at least behind me. Unfriendly staff. No coconut milk. Iced tea was Luke warm.

While I've had more better drinks with COSTA then STARBUCKS, I have to say I was left disappointed in this one where the music upstairs coming out of the speakers was very fuzzy sounding. For the drink I ordered I'm shocked that the stuff don't know what's wrong when they forget to put something on the drink that should be there like sprinkles. They did look surprised when I asked if I could have the sprinkles on the drink. I have to say the NEW COSTA COFFEE opposite M&S is much more inviting as are the staff. The staff there know how to greet customers and laugh with them unlike the serious faces in this one.

This branch is looking very tired and could definitely do with refurbishment. All four drinks we purchased were only just drinkable as not very hot and the cakes were all very dry. This branch wasn't as good as those used at a very busy motorway services

No brown sugar for over a month. Realise Supply maybe an issue but not that tricky. Tables damaged from Covid stickers. Lot of Staff change in one fell swoop. They don’t seem happy. Prices higher to quell a free coffee in 8 is turning me away. Sorry

Really slow and uninterested service levels

This Costa needs a revamp .Toilets especially very dirty this morning haven't been checked regularly as a customer had left it in a right mess , toilet paper was filled bonus . Entering from outside white doors where very dirty not a good impression .Staff were pleasant quick service only 2 staff on as far as I could see

A well loved coffee shop in need of a deep clean/decoration.

Called in for coffee and toast stood 15 mins to get served even with 4 staff on .Finally ordered .had to wait ages for it then first come toast then after more time my drink by which time my toast was cold and hard .Worst costa ive been in very very slow

Costa Coffee is a Costa Coffee! One of the biggest franchises in the world, there’s not much difference between any of them. Newark’s is spacious enough with friendly trained staff. Adequate.

This is a comfy café, near the Market Place in Newark. Staff is lovely- always smiling and friendly. However, there are so many nice independent café in Newark that, perhaps, they should consider to renew their interior design. Otherwise, nice coffee and soya latte.

Problems with the epos system and the app in relation to the 50th birthday promotion prevented me from giving 5 stars.

I visited today with my partner and ordered a flat white and a steamed milk, something that I thought was quite straight forward, however they said they had never heard of a steamed milk and when we explained what it was asked if we wanted it hot or cold! I find this strange as I believe this until recently has been on the menu and it’s not exactly difficult to do. The flat white was tasteless and not up to the normal standard that I would expect from a costa.

Always a pleasure to visit Costa in Newark. Sally and Sam always pleased to see you and can't do enough for you. These two great people should be recognised for their services 10 / 10 long may they stay with the company Costa would be lost without them

This Large Costa store in Newark does have ground floor & upstairs seating areas which has been obviously reduced in table numbers due to the covid socially distancing rules ! ..Hand gel dispenser,floor distance markers & protection screens for counter staff are all in place .I called in 1st for a take away "Gingerbread " Latte & didn't have to wait very long, I returned later on in the day to stay inside in a group of 3. .2 x teas,3x toast & once again gingerbread latte . Great pleasant service once again & the best made Costa Gingerbread latte around !

I have been coming every morning 7-8 am for the last 6 years. Very friendly place, great staff- always friendly and helpful - I actually taught one of them years ago - good range of hot and cold food and drinks - all made how you like it. Overall, a great atmospheric coffee shop with friendly staff and regulars. Don't be put off by the comments from 'one-off' customers - try it for yourself. Tony.

We went to get a cup of coffee at on Sunday evening after 4pm. Shop was open but we were denied coffee and were told only freeze items are available. Very ironic that coffee shop not offering coffee. Staff's attitude was very rude as well. Very bad experience..
