I normally go to the Gannets in Newark . This one is much smaller and not as cosy . It’s not warm as there’s doors all over . There was a wait for coffee . I will stick with the town one .

I've just had the smallest cup of coffee I've ever seen, and judging by the reviews I'm not the only one to think this. Together with it being a very small space for the size of the building and also very noisy with conversations from other tables, it was a very underwhelming experience. As for food, the all day breakfast menu looked ok but there was very little else to choose from, mostly cakes and if the coffee portion is anything to go by I wouldn't hold my breath for a decent sized serving! I'll be going back to the cafe at the YMCA which is much better value.

A much smaller version of the cafe in Newark centre. A good choice of lunch items & cakes. All served by attentive staff despite the limited space. On a nice warm day it will be perfect to sit out al fresco. As a busy cafe I did struggle a little with everyone’s conversation round me. However after roughly twenty minutes the lunchtime crowd diminished to a light conversation level. The room has little sound deadening so there is plenty of echo. I admit that is a problem that growing old causes. The food is all up to the renown Gannet standard that has been around for many decades. Makes a trip back to my old home most enjoyable - except all the roads have moved!

Massive teapot with lots of tea for two! Creamy mushrooms were fab. As was the ham Brie and cranberry toastie. Crumbly bread. Definitely happy to return.

Having been disappointed in gannets in town, thought I would try Gannets Maplebeck. I ordered a scone but the girl did not know they didn’t have any so changed my order to cheese, Brie & chutney toastie. Amazing. I loved it. The best salad I have had with a toastie. However, I also ordered a regular cappuccino. It arrived a good 10 minutes before the toastie so was not warm when toastie arrived and as it was so small I had almost drank it. I have never had such a small cappuccino in my life. It was a disgrace for the price. This spoilt my experience. I told the girl on the till but she wasn’t concerned. For this reason I will not return. When paying the current prices for a coffee you expect a decent sized cup! It is also very noisy and echoey in the cafe.

Visited for late brunch/lunch. Ordered French toast as I thought you can’t go wrong, to my surprise I served a slice of brown bread that had only been toasted with a handful of blueberries. When I questioned why it was nothing like a normal French toast I was just told it’s their most popular dish. Which still didn’t explain why it was just a dry slice of toast with a drizzle of syrup and icing sugar. The name of the breakfast item simply needs to be toast and blueberries and what makes it worst, I paid £4.95 for one slice of toast which was nothing like French toast. Disappointing to say the least.

Breakfast delight, in this modern and bright cafe. Greeted by George who made me feel welcome. I sat inside, there is outside seating, both wheelchair accessible. Environment clean and fresh.

Popped in for a spot of lunch and was not disappointed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The cafe was completely full and I would recommend reserving a table if you're planning a weekend meal. The decor is lovely and the coffee and food superb. We will definitely be visiting again.

Our first visit and we will definitely be back! Excellent service from Hayley and the team who made us all feel very welcome. Great atmosphere and despite most tables being full, which is wonderful to see, our hot drinks and cakes came out quickly. The Chocolate and Raspberry Brownie was absolutely divine and the Caramel Latte was exactly what I needed.

What a relief after a long wet walk. Such a warm welcome. Even though they were full we were found chairs until a table for four was free. The food was worth the wait, an interesting menu, my leek and ham tart was delicious with wholemeal pastry . the chocolate brownie with raspberries perfect for a gluten intolerant husband completed with the best espresso- we shall return

After visiting Gannets in Newark several times and being delighted with the standard of food and service, a visit to this restaurant was a huge disappointment. The sour faced staff and speed of service was shocking. 20 minutes for a hot Choclate is not good enough. Another order for milkshakes found they had run out of glasses, delivered in paper cups at same price, half the size; again, not good enough. The whole place needs a shakeup quick.

This was a really pleasant surprise for us. We've visited Newark many times, but never thought to drop in at the Old Post Office. A large pub which appears to have an excellent choice of well-prepared food and very pleasant staff and service. I happened to mention to the barmaid, when ordering food, that I have a 'suspected' intolerance to gluten problem and a little later a member if staff from the kitchen came to our table to explain the gluten-content of our food. I was surprised and impressed. I would definitely come back here again.

Great delivery but forgot an item & some of food was not great, prawn toast had very little filling & not much taste, crackers were just nasty & spring rolls overcooked, would give 6/10 but thats mainly the quick & friendly delivery.

Cheesy chips was half full of the end of the night's dirty salad, did not even want salad and the pizza was cut into 1 inch thinlck slices. The food was also stale

We spent nearly £100 after reading reviews from the centre parcs group. We had high hopes & expectations but sadly the food fell short, although the customer service was great & they told us when they were setting off & met us at the gate. We ordered online and was given sweet & sour prawns instead of chicken, the person who chose this dish is allergic to seafood so was unable to eat his dish of choice. We ordered 2 lots of the mixed starters and the whole lot was left as it tasted like eating pure oil especially the prawn toast, the ribs were delicious and devoured though! We also ordered chicken satay but believe we were also given the wrong dish for this as the website states peanuts and spicy and this dish was the complete opposite with no nuts or spice and not like any other satay we’ve had before. The salt and pepper prawns were soggy and had no flavour. Rice and noodles were delicious, it’s just a shame the main things weren’t. As we were only there for a few days and it is a long walk to the gates and back, we didn’t think it was worth calling back to see if we could have at least got a replacement for the incorrect dishes.
