Huck's American Bar & Grill in Newark and Sherwood

We ate here for the last night of our honeymoon and despite some quite bad reviews we thought we’d give it a try. When we sat down, we ordered drinks and asked for some water and were given glasses with dirt crusted on them. We thought that’s a simple mistake and asked for new ones — still dirty. My starter was burned at the edges and somehow cold in the middle, I couldn’t finish it but didn’t say anything and just ate the good parts which were okay and then my main came and tasted like uncooked flour - it was vile. I couldn’t get anyone’s attention so when someone came over they asked if it was good and I said I couldn’t eat this, they took it and said they’d bring me over something - I just ordered an extra starter as my party had eaten some of their food and didnt want to stay any longer than needed. I appreciate they were rushing but it was clearly rushed when the replacement “starter” arrived so I just gave up. In the end I did get my meals taken off, but then still had to pay for the other meals and then lost time on the last day of my trip because I had to then cancel an activity to go and find another dinner reservation which was practically impossible as everywhere was busy. The worst part is I tried to get the manager to actually look at the fact we kept getting brought dirty items and they just said sorry and got them taken away without even looking so I’m a little concerned. The servers themselves were great but they seemed stressed and stretched a little thin. Not 100% blaming hucks as I can’t prove anything but funnily enough we both started feeling unwell that evening.

Great service from Lottie. Food arrived quickly and was tasty. Really made and enjoyable night for our last night on the holiday. Would recommend

Ate at Hucks twice during our stay at Centre Parcs. On the first visit, we were served by two wonderful ladies (unsure of names) who answered any questions regarding the menu. We were offered sample ice cream to decide which dessert we would pick. Thank you for this! 😊 On the second visit, we was served by Taylor who allowed us to move to a more comfortable table and made sure that any amendments to meals were undertaken with the kitchen. Thank you Taylor for great evening at Hucks.

We ordered belly ribs for £26 and only got two, they were undercooked and tasted bland. Service was also very slow as I asked for a drink as the food came to the table and didn’t get it until I finished my meal. The waitress was very understanding and offered us a free desert which was amazing. Very disappointed and a rubbish end to a perfect day.

Went for evening meal. Mediocre overpriced food - we experienced inattentive and slow service today - albeit friendly.

Ate here twice while at Centre Parcs for the week with my little boy. So, it's not cheap at all and the service charge included in the bill feels a bit cheeky, but... Pricing wise it was in line with the other eateries onsite. Lovely restaurant and ambience, food we had was superb. Staff were fabulous, really friendly, smiley, chatty and helpful, felt really welcome.

We had a good time at the restaurant, mainly because of Christian, who was really nice. I got the beef burger and went for double, which was really tasty. The chicken wings with Mango and habanero were so good! My wife liked her Mexican chicken and cheeseburger. But my son’s Chicken Nuggets weren’t great – not enough nuggets and not many beans. Still, we had a decent time overall

Great food but not the cheapest and watch out for the rip off service charge at the end but if your eating on site your going to pay more

Best meal out we had at Center Parcs during our 4 night break. The menu had plenty of options, the food was decent when it came and the service was impeccable. We went on the Thursday night which I guess everyone else had the same idea to have their final night eating out, as they were queuing at the door to get a table. Fortunately we booked with this in mind.

Food was nice and filling, kids meals were a decent size and decent price too. Service was good and the food arrived quickly and hot.

After a poor experience at Las Iguanas we entered Huck’s with trepidation but were instantly relieved. The gentleman on the desk was instantly welcoming and the epitome of great service - welcoming us to our restaurant and reassuring us he had allocated us a booth well away from the play area (we have teenagers!). The booth was spacious and ideal for our tall teens! We were served by Erin and she made sure we had everything we needed all evening. The food was great. The wings were pronounced ‘the best I’ve ever had’ by one child and the garlic bread was good & filling. For mains the ribs lived up to their name and fell off the bone and the burgers were enjoyed by the rest of the family. The puddings were far more impressive than Las Iguanas produced too! The bill came in just less than our meal at Las Iguanas and the service and quality of food far surpassed it so if you can only afford one meal out during your stay I would recommend you head to Huck’s!

Probably the best meal we had at Center Parcs. I ordered the bean chilli, not expecting a great deal, but out came this platter with various bowls allowing you to mix in as much chilli, rice, guacamole, sour cream, jalapenos, cheese, salsa etc as you wished. Was pretty good (though relied on the jalapenos to give it a kick). There's a playground indoors for the kids (suited to probably 7s and under though our slightly older kid also merrily played on it).

Came on Monday 30.10 A lovely welcome from the gentleman at the desk who was very chatty and helpful . The restaurant is huge and modern and clean . We recall it from when it had the huge ball pool and soft play of 10 years ago or more . The new play area looked great for kids . Waitress - Nicky - was very attentive . We thought the food was excellent . One starter then a burger , superb veg fajitas and two older kids meals . All reported food to be hot , tasty and good quality . A super meal - yes it’s pricy - but we find we know it’ll be that case so save accordingly . We normally go to Whinfell and enjoy Hucks but comparing- this one is much better in terms of food quality and restaurant. Thank you

We visited Hucks for a family meal as it was my grandsons 2nd birthday. After seeing a mixture of reviews we thought it’s always best to see what a venue is actually like by visiting yourself. We were greeted and seated at our table by our member of the floor staff, Paige, who was courteous and helpful throughout our visit. Our order consisted of the large sharing Nachos, followed by a selection of mains including chilli burgers, pork belly rib and chicken fajitas. These were all excellent and a special mention must be made for the garlic butter fries which are fab and must be tried when you visit! The children’s meal was a good sized portion of good quality chicken nuggets with fries ( if you’ve ever had the bad quality ones you will know what I mean) a fruit shoot and ice cream bowl , where you can visit the self service ice cream machines and add toppings. The background music along with Back to the Future playing on video screens made the visit a great choice for family groups and the venue was busy even though we chose to dine early evening. The disabled facilities were clean and well equipped - I am disabled and all too often this is not the case - thank you Hucks! All in all, Hucks is well worth a visit whilst here at Center Parcs Sherwood and we will be back again. A special mention for Paige as she is everything a member of floor staff should be , helpful, courteous and unruffled in busy times with a professional manner and a smile. Can other venues please take note, as an overall observation at Hucks was that all the staff looked genuinely happy whilst working too 😊

Portions tiny. Tin containers half filled with coleslaw for example. Tasty but tiny. Beware. Half chicken is two small chicken legs, handful salad leaves and chips, for £19 didn't fill my husband. Kids portions are tiny, my 8yr old left hungry. We didn't want to risk the £8 desserts being a disappointment, so went to Parc market and bought Krispy creme doughnuts for us all. They have a captive market. Shame they have to ruin it. £80 for 2 adult mains and 2x kids meals & bottle wine. The kids menu states that they have a menu for older kids. The portions wouldn't fill a 4yr old. Last year same meal cost 50. Somethings not right and needs to change. Burger was drawing, but after a 4hr swimming session I'm a size 10 female and left hungry. Kids meals come with two sides , the sides are one spoonful of beans and 10 tiny chips. Better get your act together hucks. Noone likes a rip off.

Absolutely perfect for dining with a toddler. Great play area. Also Anthony (manager) was amazing and went above and beyond to keep our toddler happy. Absolutely tgreat service. Thank you.

On Saturday night 15 of us on a hen due visited hucks for a meal, All of us had a few cocktails and a main course. The staff were very friendly & the services was excellent☺️ The only complain I have about this is it was a red hot day and there was no air con on, you’d of thought on a really hot day being in a hot restaurant the air con would have definitely been on for the customers and the staff. Other than that The food was lovely and cooked to perfection as per the photo. ☺️

Everything was ok until it came to pay and a 7.5% surcharge was added automatically to the bill as cash is no longer accepted at Center Parcs. The waitress did let us know this and said it could be removed, which we asked her to do. However her demeanour changed when we did this and she stopped talking and didn't even offer to give me a receipt and just walked off. I don't see why the restaurants are doing this when other places such as the bar above the pool has a gratitude Yes/No button on the card machine. Using this tactic will only pressure the customer to pay the charge if they don't like to speak up or as in our case lead to a poor experience with the staff.

Really nice buzz about the place, lots of families but not too loud. Just people enjoying themselves. The service was great and our waitress was very friendly and chatty. My 5 year old absolutely loved the play area and making his own ice cream for dessert! I would return.

Fantastic food - we were well fed! We went for the sharing nachos for Dessert and they were HUGE! 3 of us couldn’t finish them! Great service too.

We arrived and were shown straight to our table. Our waitress came after a few minutes and took our drink and our food order. In hindsight, we would have been better just giving her the drinks order and asking her to come back after a few minutes to take the food order because our starters arrived after about five minutes but there was no sign of our drink. We asked the waitress to chase them up, but they did not arrive until we had almost finished our starters. The starters themselves were very good, the chicken wings stack was delicious full of flavour and perfect for sharing. The potato skins didn't look very apetising when they arrived, but they did taste good, fluffy potato, a reasonable amount of bacon and a nice crispy crumb which did add some texture. There was a generous amount of sour cream and salsa, served in side dishes so you could have as little or as much as you wished. Our mains came up just a few minutes after the starters were cleared away. The ribs were tasty, with plenty of bbq sauce and the burger was juicy, with an evenly cut bun, but the best meal was the bbq beely rib which was tender and juicy. It came with a choice of fries - I went for the garlic butter fries which were delicious - but not a good choice if you do like your fries crispy as the garlic butter did tend to soften them. I would go for them again, but my son prefers them crispy and enjoyed the cajun seasoned fries, which had a nice tang. We were going to order dessert - but they were out of Key Lime Pie and there was nothing else on the menu we fancied. The service itself was average. Apart from the drinks taking a long time to arrive, we asked for extra napkins and more cutlery between the starters and the main which didn't arrive so we ended up taking them from another table. The whole evening was neither bad, nor good, but rather ordinary and unmemorable.

We went as a family of 9 with 3 children. The children’s menu had a good selection and even had a steak. The food was typical American and all food was lovely no complaints at all and good drinks and cocktails. The waiter was very good. Will definitely come back here

Really overpriced for the quality of food and portion sizes - we're taking food at a lesser quality than that of Weatherspoon's but not far off double the price. Since last year there has certanly been a 'dip' in the quality and portion sizes. Very expensive and if we come back to Centre Parcs again, Huck's will be a definite no-no for somewhere to eat.

We waited over an hour for main course which was sis standard. I did complain and received a reduction off the bill. We still paid service charge as the waiting staff were busy.

Fantastic food; had a burger which was delicious. Very helpful friendly staff. However overpriced bottom of the scale lager such as carling and coors and grossly overpriced bottled beers. Tried a cocktail instead which barely tasted alcoholic. Definitely in need of an updated drinks menu with some quality European beer and to throw out the weak cocktail mixes and actually make them properly. Overall a good meal and much better than other restaurants in the park.

Was really looking forward to eating here but unfortunately wasn't blown away by the food was a little disappointed to be fair. Visited during our Centreparcs break. We were first seated directly alongside the soft play so lots if screaming and shouting from kiddies. We asked if we could be seated elsewhere as our 9 week old baby was being disturbed by the noise. We were moved quickly and order taken. Food tasted great but incredibly expensive for small portions! 2 meals and two drinks cost us £47.

I was in love with the fact that I didn't have to entertain my 1 yet old as he spent the entire time playing in the soft play. It was good food at centre parcs prices.

A couple of things that marks the score down, the starter was far too big, different to what we had before & because its quite a large restaurant it did have some loud kids around. We both enjoyed the mains so much, very tender meat and everything else was great
