OK Diner in Newark and Sherwood

Stopped off for a quick drink and was refused a glass of wine due to not having a meal. There was no policy or mention from the waitress who took the order. To be overseen by the manager when the waitress came back to tell us. She was lovely but a little confused as to why we couldn't have alcohol???

I’ve been visiting this place for the last 20+ years and it has never disappointed. Great selection of meals and done delicious milk shakes. It’s a regular stop off if we are travelling up the A1

Good food and quick service. Lovely friendly staff. Always stop in if we are passing. Downside is it doesn't open until 9am.

I love all of these "American" OK Diners. They have quite a nice look, just like the 50s era diners in American movies. The food is great. The vanilla float with malt is my favourite drink. The "fries" are perfect 🤤

Always have a good meal however was shocked when ordering a tall stack of pancakes. I ordered extra streaky bacon for an additional 1.65. all you get is one slice of the thinest, tasteless streaky bacon. So thin you could read the menu through it and also looked like it had been cut in half lengthwise.

Lovely little “50s American” style diner. The cheese and chilli loaded onion rings are outstanding, order some as soon as possible as a taster (between two) or a single starter while you decide what you want as a main meal. The ice cream milkshakes are massive and thick, just the way they should be. All served promptly with a smile. Recommended stop on your way north (or even south, it’s worth a few miles of detour - so much better than a regular service station).

Always stop northbound after visiting family. Great staff. Always super friendly.

Brilliant 👏 first time here and Ckassic Burger & 🍟 hit the spot 😋 just what the doctor ordered. Staff were very very helpful eventhough I was a bit cheeky about size of teapot 🫖. Definitely go here again if we pass by.

Before I go onto to describe my dish, I would like to point out my wife's Mexican Chicken Burger was great and she really enjoyed it. Don't go for the chicken and bacon waffles! The fried chicken Let's say they took a chicken breast and sliced it into three slices and gave me the smallest slice. The bacon Two small and thin streaky bacon. I won't be surprised if they sliced one bacon so that it looks like I've been served two slices. For over £11, this is shocking value for money. The food did taste good but value for money left a bitter taste.

Good location on A1 northbound. (Classed as Carlton on Trent). The car park isn't huge and you have to watch out as you return to the A1 as the slip road isn't very long. There are no other services here though, just the OK Diner. As OK diners go, this is good. Service was quick and we had a good number of refills of the 'endless' coffees (good price, even for one coffee) and soft drinks. Really enjoy the bacon sandwich though. Toilets were good, but only one of each.

Not sure if we were more excited about a break from driving for hours or about the fact that we accidently stumbled upon a real American Diner in the middle of A17, but it hit all the right buttons! The service was quick, the food was good, prices were very reasonable, and the atmosphere with tunes, decor and general feel of the place all together made our pit stop a very pleasant and even happy experience. Will definitely be stopping there again when we are on that part of the motorway!

Great food! staff are nice enough and food arrived quickly but the bathroom facilities were not that pleasant.

This is my go-to for breakfast if I'm heading north on a day off. Good food, good prices, good service.

The staff are superb, the food is nice too. My order arrived and was wrong, they couldn't have been nicer about it and after a short wait my food came, and was very nice. The milkshakes are awesome too.

We love the OK Diner, we visited again on 20/03/24 service at the table by the female staff, a little rushed like come on just order, male member of staff that brought the meals to us and took payment was much nicer. All the praise go's to young man who puts the food together, delicious food he is an asset to the OK diner, we visited at 12.30 on the above date , so that the right young man doing the food gets the brilliant feedback he deserves.I made a point of praising him before we left , I hope he gets thanked and maybe even a pay rise 😀 👍

Passed the OK Diner many times without calling in. So, this time decided to call and check it out. We were very impressed with the service and the food, (chicken platter) both in quality and quantity. We will definitely be calling in again.

We were greeted & served by several members of staff & every one of them was superb & friendly. The American Diner Experience is great & kids & "big kids" will love it. Regular stop on our way back up north. Staff are great and really friendly, the food is good and tasty and very reasonably priced. Can be a bit busy but the staff are speedy.

Absolutely love this place! Right off the motorway so easy to get rolling again, food is good, service is fast, music and 50's feel spot on and the CUSTOMER service was some of the best I've seen. Smiling faces, laughter, attentive, observant of needs/wants.... Darcy, you're a superstar! Great way to start a morning!

Disappointing, poor quality meat in their burger patties. Probably the worst I've tasted in a major chain establishment. Fries were good

Despite good and tasty food, the prices being just a bit rough, the food and services are great. It's a little bit cold inside though, and a little bit sad, maybe put some colours and lights? Just an idea.

The man behind the counter cooking was very accommodating we wanted a fish sandwich, they only do scampi so he made us a scampi roll with some fries. Was quite quiet in the diner , it was very cold in the Ladies. But had a lovely relaxing meal.

Waiting staff were friendly and attentive. The food was high quality and excellent value for money.

Great place to stop, relax, and get a coffee and some food. Good menu range and excellent milkshakes. And they do offer a reward scheme. My only grip on my last visit was when the toilets were being cleaned, so I had to use the disabled/baby change, no issue at all with that. Sadly a parent or someone had used the baby change area and left their babys mess smeared on the change table. It was grim. Not the restaurants fault though, just the parent that did it.

Great breakfast on the road. Saw the OK diner, stopped and found it offer a great breakfast. Service was good and friendly. Menu options were great. Food was great.

We goto Lincoln regularly and like to stop off at OK Diner even going off route to go just something different from the norm great food atmosphere and service nothing a problem love it highly recommended!

Never been to US so can only compare to what i've seen in movies and can tell this diner made me feel a bit like i was in US for a moment. The place has nice "authentic" roadside diner atmosphere, with Pulp Fiction style music in the background and a waitress with coffee jug doing top ups for customers. The food i ordered was tasty and the size good for the price. I will definately visit more often dururing my future journeys. Recomended!

We'd used an ok diner a couple of years ago further down the A1 at Bloody Oaks , so we were sending our merry way up the A1 through Newark and there it was so led by the stomach , you have to be , we went in .pretty much as the other one , what you'd think of as Americans diner . Bright , chrome , some rock n roll and blues in the background . The staff are pleasant and approachable, the tables and seats are comfortable and clean , the lighting is bright , the menu's easy to read . We had a couple of their milkshakes , if you don't have one we cannot be friends . The burger I ordered was well cooked , constructed and tasty , light crispy chips . My partner had a breakfast that was very good in her opinion. All good . A reasonable price point on the food . The toilets were clean and serviceable. All good . Could turn into the monthly treat .

It took a long time to get in because of the line but that wasn't too surprising. However, the food was great (especially the chicken wings) and our food didn't take too long to come. Overall a very nice place to eat out, especially after a long car journey! Also I loved the '60s, American style atmosphere!

Took the family for something different, really enjoyed it and the price was great also.

We found this place quite by chance. We had a short wait to be seated, but the service was excellent. American themed, they certainly like Buddy Holly, which pleased me alot. Food was very good, arrived hit with ample.portions

This is one of the best meals that I have had in a while. It was the perfect balance of flavour and design. The diner is been kept to its former glorious self and looks like it has came straight out of a movie, this is one of the reasons why it caught my eye while me and my family was driving down the motorway and the light caught the side of my eye and we just knew that we would have to go there. When we walked inside the diner it felt like I had escaped from reality to another time. Overall the staff couldn’t have been nicer and there was a wide range of meals, sides, starters, drinks and my personal favourite the dessert. This was a very clean restaurant and I would extremely advise visiting this on a day out or even just whenever you feel the desire for spectacular food. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

We were driving North on the A1 looking for somewhere to eat and we were so pleased we pulled in at the OK Diner. Friendly efficient staff. Very fast service. Free refills for our cups of tea. Really enjoyed our meal.

Were seated fast but took a while to take our order. It was a busy Saturday though. Good selection of food, really enjoyed the beanburger and banoffee cheesecake for dessert. Staff were friendly and a good range of diner food on offer. Came again and it was busy which shows how good it is. Got seated fast and really enjoyed the onion ring tower and the veggie grill.

Been here a few times now, really friendly and pleasant staff and the restaurant is very clean and nicely decorated, however, on my last visit I came away with food poisoning after ordering the Scampi burger.. not a pleasant experience and I'll be avoiding the restaurant for the long term until I forget about the experience..

I've always liked the ok diner. It feels like being in the states, but you've actually near Doncaster.

Love this place, we've been dozens of times. Staff are fabulous, food is lush and with very generous portions. Great milkshakes - worth going for these alone! Great value too

Always love eating at the OK Diner, great food, tolerant of my many allergies and brilliant friendly service. The fact that they sell root beer is the cherry on top for me. Don't fill up on a main and save yourself for some cheesecake, you won't be disappointed!

I can honestly say they couldn’t have been more helpful we were travelling up with our dog and cat in the car. The food was excellent and they even bought it out to us.

If you want a burger and stuff on it, then it's fine. However, if you want the beef chilli, well, I don't think it's seen beef in its life! Was just veg which was very over cooked and was mush! I did find 6 kidney beans!The rice had not been washed before cooking, all the starch was still in it, it was a dry gluey lump on the plate, and not much of it at that. It was horrid! Hence the low rating. I think it was expensive rubbish. The pop is OK, at only nearly four pounds a glass!!! But you do get free top ups. Service was cheery but . . . Pudding was good, very tasty. I am normally too full for a pudding but not this time.

Love this place. Service great and a lovely mint choc chip milkshake with a burger and curly fries. Hit the spot. I go there every time I drive from London to York. Another visit. Decent service but few people and half the place closed off. Food below par and not up to the price. Bit disappointed as I like the place and the music. And back again. This time made up for previous disappointment. A lovely all day breakfast (the fried bread divine) and three cups of decent coffee. Excellent service. In love again!
