Absolutely awful! Went here on a Friday night and chips brown and cooked in dirty oil, all 3 bags of chips went in the bin. Please change your oil!!

Not great to be honest. The chips tasted like they had been reheated. Some chips were rather uncooked. The pies seemed cheap with little filling. The gravy was missing from our order which we didn’t realise until getting home. Staff were pleasant but scruffy and could do with looking a bit more presentable.

Superb chippy always serving A1 quality grub. The fish is top notch and the batter is divine. The associated peas, sauces, etc are all great as well and you really can't go wrong. The staff are wonderful and very happy to help. We pop over from a neighbouring village reasonably often as the food is that good.

This is a good local chippy. It's busy so good turnover of fresh food. Service is good and you can preorder online, which is useful for collection on the way home.

Terrible and very expensive, cost over £18 for 3 small well very small fish and 1 portion of chips and 1 portion of pea juice at 50%, then to make it worse with fish so so thin, no taste and awful

I reside in the village and cannot praise The Village Fish Bar enough. Food is always hot, fresh and tasty. Prices are extremely reasonable considering the quality of the food and the staff are very helpful and pleasant. Even if I didn’t live close by, I would still have this takeaway shop as my first choice. Thank you for providing such lovely food and service.

We live in the village and love having fish and chips on a Friday. However we hate given our business to our local fish and chip shop because the staff our so incredibly rude. They are the only fish and chip shop in the area and therefore never struggle for customers and treat them awfully. Every time we have ordered online for collection there has been something missing or replaced with something else because they have run out. But they never tell you it’s only when you get home and unwrap you realise there are things missing. I really hope someone who works there reads this and take note because many people in the village discuss how rude the staff our. It’s actually become a running joke. It’s such a shame becaus it’s a great fish and chip shop but we don’t use it anymore because we rather support the Chinese who staff have always been friendly and polite.

Can't drive by if its open without getting something! We drive quite a way to go for these fish and chips they are sooooooo delicious

Stopped by here as was in area and needed lunch. I had planned to have a small portion of chips but came away with a battered sausage, chips and gravy! Such nice staff, shame I don’t live closer as I’d definitely visit more often.

Fresh fish and chips served by friendly staff cooked to order,plenty of friendly banter everything tasty and well wrapped so hot when I arrived home

Great little addition to the village, a fitting finish to a day enjoying some Ale. Will be back soon.

First of all this is a fish and chip shop and not a restaurant. Haddock was well cooked and no soggy batter. Chips are the best I’ve tasted although cannot ever eat them all. I have a 20 minute drive home and still nice and hot.

Looks like village chippy has been sold i went for a meal for my family the chips looked like they had been reheated. Fish was soggy in batter not properly cooked will not be using again this explains why there was nobody in there .

Stopped off with a mate ,asked for jumbo sausage and chips and my mate a bag of chips.Tasted crap and threw most of it in the bin.Worst chippy I’ve been to and won’t go back

Having been brought up at the seaside and moving inland good Fish and chips are hard to find but we have not been disappointed here. Been enjoying the chips for a couple of years from here weekly and during the most recent lockdowns they have continued to provide our weekly tea time treat. Good portion size and Haddock available - just add salt & vinegar. Lovely!

Usually really good quality and value but was pretty awful tonight. Chips tasted of oil that needed changing and the chips weren't fresh either. My wife asked for scraps but didn't see them added while being served and so asked again. She was told they were in there. Got home and found that they weren't. Still, given the oil that the chips had been cooked in tonight, that might have been a blessing. Threw most of the chips away. Very disappointing and will think twice of returning now.

I can only review the fish and chips as that's what we had. I had Cod and it was well cooked and very tasty the chips were average but ok. We will definitely stop again and can recommend.

We placed a phone order for collection for an 8 person leaving lunch! All the orders were individually wrapped named and spot on! The food was collected on time and was still piping hot when it arrived in Newark! Huge thanks a great success and we will definitely be using on a regular basis! Lynne Jones Pneu-Therm Limited

Just got back home to the smallest cod , yes I asked for a small, but seriously the same size off a bookmark. Chicken if you call it that looked as a big as a quail. Now have belly ache. Thanks.

Best fish and chips in a long time. Think this is now our new favourite chips hop. Red hot haddock and chips.

Call in weekly / fortnightly and never fail to impress. Wide menu and has to be the best chippy for quite a few miles. Tried most items over the last 2 years and all great. Go on pop in and give yourself a treat.

I use this shop regularly when fishing in the area and i must say it really does the best haddock ive ever tasted. It is quite busy but its worth the wait. Just goes to show how good it is.
