The best restaurants serving Chinese food in England

Due to living over the water, I had not been to the Dolphin for a few years, I ordered a sausage dinner, spring rolls & fried rice &cury, I don't think I have been left feeling so disappointed after partially eating a meal, it was disgusting. I don't know if it has been taken over, using much cheaper quality food, employing rubbish chefs or all 3 of the things. I know one thing, I will never go back while the current exstreamy useless owner has it. What a sad demise.

Went here with my daughters. We had lemon chicken and veg spring rolls for out starters. These were quite tasty. For main course we had Sichuan chilli chicken, sweet and sour chicken and black bean beef with noodles and egg fried rice. The Chilli chicken was not very nice - loads of dried chillis that weren’t really edible. It also had a slight taste of fish which I presume was fish sauce but it didn’t taste good. The sweet and sour chicken was quite good but the black been sauce was gooey and the beef sloppy. Rice was good. We had this and 2 small cokes, 2 small lemonades and one small bottle of beer - total cost was just under £80. But then they are charging £4 for a coke and £4 for a lemonade! We won’t be back

Updated review ..Used this takeaway for 20 yrs.The food has been very very nice(until about 3yrs ago).. Looks like recent change of staff late 2023. They have modernised it with new menu. Some items are great (eg pizza box) . Just had special fried rice and 9" box which was nice and the gravy is very nice. Also the garlic mushrooms are nice. They make my favourite Peking sauce(nobody else comes close)Dropped 1 star 3 years ago but now back to 5 stars. Staff very friendly and give free gifts all the time. My new favourite meal is the salt and pepper box. And they make the best prawn crackers.

If you go to this place i'd highly recommend the black bean tofu. You see, it has to be done in a certain way so the flavors come out just right. i have mine with white rice.

Food is very good, We had chicken with ginger and spring onions, crispy duck and pineapple, coconut rice, and mixed veg in black bean sauce. The veg in sauce was very good indeed. Service was reasonable, but it was a little cold in the resteraunt. It's worth a try if you are in the area.

Great place to go for hot pot lunch. Enjoyed the meal. Lots of choice. Noted 20% off which was nice.

Absolutely awful service- after waiting an hour and a half on ordering through uber eats- called to say 15 minutes away. Called back 30 minutes later and seems they never had our order- so so unhelpful and told me just to try and get my £50 refund through uber eats???? Appalling- will NEVER use again… please don’t order from these people

Salt and pepper wings with a side order of soft noodles. I was very disappointed with the tasteless noodles,swimming in a tasteless sauce. The wings were tough, although at 6 in a potion, a good size. Really didn't enjoy the meal, with nearly all the noodles ending up in the bin.

Have had many take-aways and deliveries from here in the past which have been fine. Ordered a delivery last night and was overcharged and they missed items off the delivery. I rang and was very polite and said that items had been missed. The girl on the phone was very rude and put the phone down on me. I didn't get the chance to discuss being over charged. I called today to speak to the manager as I was taken aback by being cut off and the manager also put the phone down on me. I was very polite and I actually never complain but they clearly don't welcome feedback or queries re orders. Being charged £13 delivery to the next village is way over the top. They were not interested in discussing this either. Food tasteless and bland. Very poor service. Won't be using again.

The portions are a joke and food is shocking, dry,tasteless ,and not value for the money, its a very expensive Chinese who are just ripping us all off , greed greed greed, never use this place again .keep away people

No puedo hablar por las otras críticas, pero puedo decir cuando visitamos en un frío martes por la noche en enero recibimos una cálida bienvenida. El restaurante era tranquilo, una tarde temprano en un día de semana, pero lo suficientemente ocupado para sentirse agradable. Pedimos del sichuan (primera mitad) del menú y sin falta cada plato estaba delicioso. El personal también era genial, agradable, eficiente y el lado derecho de la atención. Luchando por encontrar cualquier negativo en absoluto - incluso el precio era muy razonable.
