By far the worst takeaway I’ve ever eaten. The prawn crackers were ok but then again, it’s hard to mess them up. The prawn toasts were burnt to a crisp, dark brown and greasy. The spring rolls were tiny, probably frozen from a cheap supermarket. The salt and pepper ribs were completely overcooked, hardly any meat and probably double fried. Even a dog would’ve turned its nose up. The Szechuan chicken was pure salt. We couldn’t eat it and ended up throwing it away. Don’t go.

Tried to order from here last year & they were closed for a holiday… it’s a shame they weren’t closed this time. Starters were by far the worst I’ve ever had at a Chinese and I’ve eaten some dross. Everything was over fried by at least 5 minutes. Prawn toast was rock solid and prawn-less, ribs like rubber, spring rolls from an Iceland party freezer selection. Mains were ok-ish but just bog standard. We spent over £50 and they don’t even throw in some prawn crackers… which was probably a blessing in disguise given the state of most the food. Do yourself a favour and don’t order from here. I’ll be driving 30/40 minutes next time to get something half decent. Picture below of the most sorry looking prawn less the toast you will ever see.

On the bright side, the young lady who took my order was very pleasant. BBQ ribs.... bright red, no meat on them and burned Sweet and Sour Chicken. There was a soft doughy 'batter' on the uniform shaped chicken pieces. Which makes me suspect processed and frozen. The sauce was a vivid bright red which could only be food colouring. It was truly awful. Beef dish. Strips of something, not sure which part of the animal it was. Coated in flour and deep fried. The sauce was the same vivid red as the chicken. Without doubt, the worst Chinese take away I've ever encountered.

ordered salt and pepper ribs soft fried noodles and prawns crackers all were auwfull the crackers tasted like the fried in dirty fryer oil the ribs were over cooked 2 of them had no meat on them the noodles tasted old and over cooked as were everything in them so I phoned them back the nexst day to give them a chance to explain the response I got was I can't of ordered anything because they were shut at which they weren't they were closed at 9.30 I called to order at 8.50 p.m collected at 9.10 then they said quote am I sure I placed that order because they don't have a record of it in other words called me a liar

Had a great takeaway whilst staying locally, highly recommended! A mixture of dishes with rice, all really well made.

We live in Grange and, therefore, have tried most of the restaurants and takeaways here. This Chinese is up there with the best of them and never had a bad meal. The rice is beautiful and fluffy and the chips are very fresh and crisp. I had Thai king prawn on our last visit and my hubby had beef curry. Portions are enormous and we had enough for lunch the following day. Very pleasant young lady took our order and it was delivered within 15 minutes!! First class.

I realise this doesn’t match the majority of reviews but the takeaway we had yesterday was not to our liking. My husband had duck and it was the strangest duck I have every seen. I had char sui with pineapple which was better than the duck but both were in strange tasting sauces. The chips were good but the fried rice we threw out along with most of the duck & some of the char sui. The portions are generous but, as I said not to our liking.

We had a takeaway from here on Sunday 18th July 2021 whilst on holiday in the area and were delighted by the quality of the food, the portion size and the price. The wait was very short and to avoid people lingering inside you were given a pager which went off when your order was ready. Excellent service all round, will definitely revisit if in the area.

We were staying in the haven Lakeland and we’re wanting a decent meal other than The on site facilities and found this place online . The food was so nice , the curry was beautiful and so nice to have carrot and peas in it . We had ribs and they were so tender . The whole meal was lovely we have recommended to other friends at the park also !

Just had takeaway from here this evening, 2nd July 2021 and couldn't fault it. We had chicken chilli, fried rice and salt and pepper chips. Was freshly cooked, chicken nice and tender, rice fluffy, chips delicious. Pleasent service and fantastic flavours throughout. Great value to, and very well priced. Seen locals gling in and thoght would give it a try, glad we did. Me and the mrs agreed was our tastiest meal of our week break. Should be scoring higher on trip advisor, give it a go, you won't be dissapointed.

You should be embarrassed to call your self a " Chinese takeaway " Your awful food gave me Food poisoning Saturday night leading into Sunday morning . The ribs , completely dry I don't know how many times you microwaved them but you decinterated any meat what was remaining on the bone . The salt pepper chicken was so tough my knife didn't even cut through the meat . In the same batch was sogy stodgy pathetic dry bits which had been mixed with the old and new . No care in the world is made in that kitchen any chef behind the scenes should be truly ashamed off the tasteless crap he's knocking out trying To con the public by calling it Chinese takeaway . The management who run the place need to seriously sit down and re build . Stop stealing the public's hard earned money and blaming covid for basic kitchen food hygiene & kitchen safely 101 . Have had multiple meals from Chilli Red since we moved here 5 months ago. Food is delicious. Portions are generous. Service has been quick most evenings and wait time has been honest when they are busy. Recommend a visit.

Have used this takeaway on numerous occasions and have always had a lovely meal,we have also recommended it to friends. We had our usual meals last night and it was awful. Everything was really salty even without the salt and pepper chips! The pork was also very gristly. If we were closer to the shop we would have returned it. We travel from Cartmel as it is usually so good.

Went last night for a chinese after a bad experience at pheasant inn and omg the food is not only cheap but such good quality food and made my whole family happy for a little price. I ordered a chicken satay and a lemon chicken it was really nice, lovely staff and very polite and chatty would go back anyday. Very clean.

Just moved house and hunting for supper once the van was unloaded. Chilli Red take out was spot on. Exactly what we needed after a long day. Food was piping hot, on time and delicious. Good value for money and generous portions. The staff were friendly and helpful. We will be back!

If im in the area i always stop here! Crispy beef and s&p chips are always top notch. Staff are always very friendly. See you again soon 😬

Condujimos a Grange - over - Sands a 15 minutos de nuestra camioneta, para esperar 45 minutos afuera de la tienda, pasamos 25 para darnos cuenta de que no había planes. . . No había ningún cambio preguntado si podíamos comprarlos. . . (con la esperanza de ofrecer 2 galletas sin cargo) dijo que podría comprar. . . y si queremos, solo aceptarán un pago con tarjeta de 10 y más, ya que covid no teníamos efectivo. . . . uno pensaría que podrían dejar una bolsa de galletas para los 3 niños que solo esperan una hora en total. . . . . tipo horrible en la recepción. . . . ¡Y la comida tampoco era buena! ! ! No me molestaría. . .

We was on honeymoon at Grange and looking for somewhere to order (alot of places booked up etc due to covid) we ordered the feast box from Chilli and oh it was delicious. We shared it between two and it filled us up

Miramos las reseñas y casi no hicimos pedidos desde aquí, pero estamos contentos de haberlo hecho, ¡fue maravilloso! ¡Tuvimos algunos rollitos de primavera, pollo y sopa de maíz dulce (que era mejor que mi local)! Como platos principales tuvimos: pollo al curry (excelente), pollo con cebolla tierna y jengibre (encantador), pollo satay (muy bueno), arroz con pollo (bien hecho) y fideos de Singapur (toque más picante que el que tengo de mi local pero aún sabroso). En general, todos quedamos satisfechos con la comida, ¡es la mejor comida china que hemos probado en mucho tiempo!

While on a week away we used this lovely place three times and not even one dish was average, really nice quality, large portions and great prices, even something as simple as the chips were far better than the local chip chop.......well done Chilli Red.

Ok, en primer lugar, 3 chicos hablando y jugando detrás del mostrador no se ven bien para los clientes. ! de todos modos en mi orden de alarma de campana un lugar de efectivo en 2020 wtf. ok, así que pedí un pollo al curry / arroz frito / fideos fritos / y sal y chips de chile simples para cualquier comida para llevar, el pedido CORRECTO parecía un poco caro, no fue hasta que llegué a casa me di cuenta de que el pedido estaba mal, bueno, no te preocupes. pruebe este chico malo: (las cosas fueron cuesta abajo curry rápido lmao omg sin sabor curry empeorado que he probado nunca!! en lugar de fideos fritos me dieron carne mixta chow mein masticar carne de res para siempre gambas de goma / cerdo de goma y pobre tatse suave y más fideos cocidos descuidados tristes Saly y chips de chile ok arroz ok este lugar está dirigido por personas que no tienen idea de cómo cocinar o simplemente usan productos desagradables baratos, no tengo idea de por qué este lugar todavía está abierto No volveré de nuevo lo siento

We ordered the Hot and Sour soup and salt and pepper ribs to start with. We had the chicken curry with fried rice and salt and pepper chips for our main. All the food was delicious and still warm when we got back to Cartmel. The food was ready within the 10 mins they quoted on the phone. We really enjoyed our meal and would recommend it to anyone.

Teníamos una comida para llevar y realmente lo lamentamos. Toda la comida parecía casi cero cuidado. El pato crujiente podría haberse preparado hace varios días y mantenerse caliente, estaba tan seco y masticable, el pollo szechuan parecía ser una combinación de toda la salsa sobrante de pekín, ostras, chile y hoi sin combinada en una especie de descripción. pesadilla acuosa Para agregar insulto a la lesión, también tuvimos que esperar 20 minutos porque no estaba listo a pesar de que lo llamamos por adelantado. ¡Nunca más!

Visiting the area recently and took a chance out of the 2 Chinese take aways, so glad we picked this one as it was delicious. We preferred it to our regular place at home. Am sure we’ll order again next time we visit

Visited for the first time and really liked it. Food was hot, fresh and tasty. Loved the chicken balls and the salt and pepper chips. Good portion sizes. Will definitely visit again.

He tenido comida de aquí antes y siempre ha sido muy buena. Esta noche comimos pollo a la sal y pimienta, piña de pollo, curry especial y chips de sal y pimienta, toda la comida estaba perfectamente preparada y ambos disfrutamos mucho de nuestras comidas, eran 20 para el lote, lo que me pareció muy razonable.

this was one of the tastiest chinese i have actually tasted, good value and different from a normal chinese, must be a different region than my local ones.... fantastic meal and only short wait....thanks.

Went here while staying at Haven Lakeland as food outlets on site not very good. Checked when ordering I could have MSG free food as I have severe allergy. This was checked with chef and was able to oblige. Food was still warm after driving back from Grange to Flookburgh. Both enjoyed ribs, chilli beef, chicken and black bean, fried rice and chips for £17.00 Good value and portions. Will definitely got back when in the area soon.

Chicken chow mein was a bit watery and lacked in chicken. Crispy beef wasn't very crispy quite soggy. Rice was nice and so were the chicken balls. Quick efficient service and decent prices.

There were 3 of us in the group and each ordered a different dish. noone was disappointed with either quality or quantity.

Food apart from one dish was good plus portion size was excellent very good value for money , service was also very good

first of all the food and fast and friendly service was excellent and was also very helpful. also they knew exactly is in their food that is great when you have a food allergy or intolerance towards some ingredient that can make you ill. will definitely be using them again next time we are in the area.

We are local to grange and our usual Chinese was closed so decided to give Chilli red a try, Gee! Wish we hadn’t bothered the fried rice was horrendously salty and I mean beyond salty. I have to have msg free due to debilitating migraines it causes to be told the curry sauce is pre-made (lady,sloppy and can’t be bothered to cater for allergy sufferers) curry didn’t even look or taste like Chinese curry and the beef and ginger hardly had any ginger whatsoever but laced with onion. All in all it’s really annoying when you have paid to eat sub standard food . Won’t be going again. Not good enough really

I love my seaweed but this was too salty to eat.

Visited twice over the christmas and new year break. Both times the food was excellent, the salt and chilli chicken wings are probably the best i have ever had.

For many of years we have been coming to chilli red but these last few months we've been very disappointed but keep going back thinking it'd be a one off. Every time we've ordered chips they've been over cooked even when asked not to as they've ended up in the bin each time and cutting the top of my mouth. A drive to Ulverston or Kendal will be happening in the future if it doesn't improve.

We had chicken satay and black bean. Both where nice and tasty, mini spring rolls where ok but didn't get many.

Ordered one curry, rice and won tons to pick up and was told 20 minutes. After waiting in the shop for a further 25 I asked how much longer and was told “about 20” - he seemed surprised to hear me ask for a refund! Amber Court across the road had me sorted and everyone who was in before me was still standing. Rubbish service!

Total lack of places to eat in Grange-over-sands. Decided on a takeaway. Passed by and saw that there was a lot of people waiting. Hoped this was a good sign that well supported locally as another chinese take away across the road. Was prepared for a long waite as so busy. Was pleasently surprised at the speed of service. Kept hot on our way back to caravan. Plenty to eat and of good standard.

We went last night with my Partners parents. In general was good.

We had a meal each from here on our first night in grange over sands they were all amazing we would highly recommend

We are staying at a caravan site oon flookburgh and had Chinese from chilli red to celebrate my husband's birthday last night. Once again it wad really good. And enough left over for a meal today.

Was staying at the caravan site a couple of miles down the road, so decided to have a takeaway. Food was cooked well really well so fresh and tasty, so much flavour and really nice, Salt and pepper chips very tasty, fried rice nice and fluffy, Overall really good takeaway

Went here after a drive to find somewhere. Walked in and there was only us though omg it must be awful. Got back to our caravan and omg, it was delicious! Ordered:1 veg curry1 sweet and sour1 ribs1 salt and chilli chicken2 chips2 rice2 gravy and 2 curry.Was expecting a hideous bill. But no £27. Fed 5 adults. Brilliant takeaway. Would go again if passing.

This place has really pulled it's socks up since our last visit. We went on Thursday 13th April after our long drive up to get some food for dinner.The curry was spicy and the fried rice was lovely too.Overall the food was tasty and enjoyable.

First time we visited here we had mixed meat curry that was very spicy, the prawn chow mein was gorgeous. The salt & Pepper chips were nice. Will be back next week.

The worst thing i've ever eaten. Lacked flavour. I had special fried rice. Rice was over cooked. Whoever is the chef want's lacking or just close the place. Not worth the money at all. I mean who's ever heard of a Chinese Takeaway that can't cook rice. Need to have passion in whatever you cook.

Had a takeaway yesterday and ordered beef dish the meet was over coated to make it slimed in texture and lacked flavour most of the dishes are also in a similar tasting gravy. Bamboo shoot and water chestnuts dish had hardly any of those in i! I think I found one water chestnut but the worst of it was everything was extremely salty ! Ew! Really not the best sorry!

As all the locals seemed to use this takeaway rather than the other local ones so I followed suit. The food was not designer or gourmet but suited my needs and budget after a long day sightseeing. The portions were plentiful and hot and we were given free prawn crackers. Your quintessential Chinese takeaway.

We used to go all the way to barrow for our Chinese takeAways but tried here last night and it was excellent. We had curried chicken and prawn sweet and sour chicken and chilli mix with rice and chips. Got too many chips but who's complaining and complimentary prawn crackers.

I've visited this takeaway a few times and always received a warm welcome, followed by some lovely tasting warm food, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to others visiting/ living in the area. Spring rolls, yum yum

Being on the road and late finishes, sometimes I'll treat myself to something local. Tonight I tried Chilli Red.I had prawn crackers and the chicken curry. Curry had good taste and spice and was piping hot when I tucked in. Next time in this area I won't hesitate to pop back in

I have eaten from chilli red for many years.I am really funny about where I eat... I will only eat at places that I consider clean and they absolutely must have a 5 star food hygene rating. (which this place has!)The staff are always friendly and easy to talk to and I get the impression that the owner is proud of having a shop in the small but upper class town of Grange. I now live in Lancaster but still travel the 30 miles when ever the opportunity presents itself. I would recommend the crispy beef and salt pepper chips. They're the best I have ever had!

I am local and have used this takeaway many times before, however, last Friday we got a takeaway after work. When I got home and took the lid off the box, I discovered a small ball of hair in my meal. This made me feel sick and I immediately returned to the takeaway to ask for a full refund on the order with my hairy meal. My boyfriend binned his meal after seeing what came out of mine. When I showed the man at the takeaway he simply said he "wouldn't have seen that"... Outrageous! Then he only offered to refund for the hairy meal! Said "you don't just return one shoe". I could not believe the lack of care or customer service, so I made this known, Then the guy actually insinuated I had put the hair ball in the meal myself! Unbelievable! Why would we bother messing around doing that?! Also, I am blonde and the hair ball was black! He claimed a takeaway is "different to a restaurant where they can take the plate back" Again, what a terrible response! There wasn't even an apology! None of the staff were wearing hair nets and when this was pointed out the man answered "our hair is quite short so we don't need to". All this made me absolutely furious, so I went home and got my boyfriend's meal in the bin and stormed down with it in the bin bag... Only then was I given a full refund on my order. Seeing a dirty clump of hair in my meal was bad enough, but I never expected that their customer service could actually be more disgusting than the dinner!! I will never use the place again, and will advise anyone I know not to. I have also reported this incident to environmental health and food standards agency as I found the whole situation completely unacceptable.

I'm a huge fan of Chinese food and love trying new places this place is really cheap and looks clean from out side that's where it ends I'm afraid my partner got hot and sour soup she said it was nice there was lots of meat in it I had char Sui foo young it was a decent portion but was bland and didn't really taste of any think also had a special curry I've ate thousands of Chinese currys before but never seen a dark brown curry before there was a decent amount of meat in it but didn't taste of any think at all so I would avoid this place .

We ordered 3 different meals plus soft noodles. I can categorically say its the worst Chinese meal we have ever had. The Sweet and Sour King Prawns tasted of....nothing. The King Prawn Szechuan tasted of...nothing. The King Prawn fried rice tasted of nothing. The soft noodles didn't taste like anything either! The fish and chips were nice - but I got them from somewhere else!Never again. Please avoid!!!

I tried this Chinese takeaway whilst I was on holiday with my partner in Grange Over Sands. My partner ordered a beef curry and I had a chicken and tomato dish. I haven't tried many chinese takeaways but my partner loves them and he thought the food was great, considering he's had worse! The portions were large, and the food was good quality for the price - £12.00 for two meals, two lots of rice and prawn crackers. The prawn crackers were not the best we have had but they are a great aide for a large portion of chinese! My partner said his curry was very tasteful with generous chunks of beef. My tomato dish was also very good, the sauce was delicious and there was plenty of chicken. The rice was lovely and the food was hot and ready to collect within 10 minutes. The only downside was that they didn't offer a delivery service but this wasn't an issue for us. The english man behind the counter could do with being a little bit more friendly/happier but other than that its well worth a try!

Categorically the worse Chinese meal myself and 6 friends have ever had the misfortune of eating, everything like jelly, all tasted same.

Was staying at a nearby campsite and the weather was bad, decided to give this place a ring...phoned up was given a time to turn up. Food was hot,plenty of it fairly decent too although a bit heavy handed with the salt ....would go back if was in the area ...

we have tried this place many times but while my son ecnjoys the chiecken in orange sauce, the chicken pieces were dry and stale tasting, and it is worth paying a little more for better quality take aways

excellent varied take away menu, only downside is they do not deliver, but well worth going to collect, highly recomended

Went here over the easter period. Didn't fancy cooking in the caravan( big mistake )Would have been better off going to the Spar next door and getting a load of ready meals cos what you get justs tastes like microwave meals anyway. Spoke to the barman from the pub opposite and he confirmed what I thought, Ping Ping microwave. Flavourless slop and that's just the Chow mein. You've been warned don't bother

Having a caravan on haven holiday park we sometimes have a take away.Not a lot of choice in the area so we use chilli red this weekend was ok but not very warm we both had chicken curry the spring rolls are huge and tasty .

Collection only here. Food was rather bland but it was also cheap here soo I guess you get what you pay for. I wouldn't waste your money though cheap or not.

This is a very good Chinese Takeaway where the food is always hot and tasty. Although in the middle of Grange-over-Sands near the Post Office there is usually parking available outside, especially in the evenings.

The prawn toast was a bit synthetic but the seaweed was ok and plentiful. Main courses were my wife's favourite of lemon chicken which was smothered in a gloopy lemon sauce. The other main was Thai green chicken curry. The chicken was a bit suspect and the curry was blazingly hot with none of subleties of good Thai food.

Always a bit wary of what you will get not knowing the area but lovely Chinese meals and the chips were heavenly

Ordered at 7 and 'It'll be half an hour sir.' Arrived 7 30. Ready at 8 15! Could have had a few drinks while waiting. And it should only be eaten after a few drinks because then you don't care about taste or what it looks like. Very thick and dark sauce like extra thick Bisto. So thick it set like jelly. Meal for three went in the bin. No taste at all and extremely glutinous. Luckily the ribs spring roll and ch wings were good though

The food here is unimaginative, bland and definitely didn't do enough to make me want to go back in the future. It is pretty cheap though so I guess its true you get what you past for!

this takeaway is hit and miss i have had some lovely meals from this chinese but i have also had one or two not so good ones. the spring rolls are amazing but the chicken fried rice is very poor

if you like your Chinese with plenty of Mono Sodium Glutomate, then this is the place for you.The Lemon Chicken, the Beef Cantonese and the Chicken in Plum sauce all tasted the same - awful.Within 5 minutes of opening the food containers, it had all turned to a gloopy and tasteless mess.Rice was even worse!!Don't waste your money.
