Had we have read the past 6 reviews we wouldn't have ordered food from here, but we didn't. Food was very good, yes cooked differently from our usual Chinese but then you never find the same wherever you go. Food was hot, took ten minutes from ordering and the flavours were amazing!!! We had beef and tomato with Fried rice, Sweet & sour Chicken and fried rice and Chicken fried rice, salt and pepper chips were the best we've tasted and lovely prawn crackers too. I can't imagine the quality can vary so much as per previous reviews. We all have no complaints

Was an absolute waste of £35, the food was as a lot of people mention very bland and tasteless, they even got the order wrong but only found that out after we had walked 15mins back to our accommodation. Didn’t bother complaining as the server was very rude when we picked it up. We shall never return and hope this review helps to save other people from wasting their money. Should have guessed that a cash only business is only interested in one thing!

Absolutely delicious meal whilst staying in Kirby Lonsdale. Lovely spicy king prawns a great vegetable chow mein. Ready to the agreed time and friendly staff. 😊

Was like an experience from covid times massive plastic screens spoke through a speaker & handed food through a small door. Food was not very good dried up frozen style chips watery curry with medioca ingredients rice wasnt okay, not hard to go wrong with realyy come ome on.Cash only which I don't mind as long as we all pay our taxes. Very under average food not for me sorry, I suggest you don't waste your money cook at home or have a bag of crisps be much better.

Absolutely disgusting Chip shop gravy slopped on the top of everything, Nothing tasted of ANYTHING, Spare ribs were absolutely INEDIBLE We collected the food and drove home opened it and put it straight in the bin. PLEASE do NOT BOTHER. I'm writing this to save you money. If you can go to BROOKHOUSE Chinese instead. I've never ever in 51 years seen such an abomination of food.

Urgh, my daughter bought seaweed from here this evening as she absolutely loves it and buys it from every Chinese. We've had to throw it away. This has never happened before at any previous Chinese ever! As soon as we picked it up, she opened the container to eat it in the car and it was damp and soft, not crispy at all. Rather than take it back there and then we decided to crispen it up in the oven at home. The seaweed has been so soaked in oil (hence being so soggy) when we finally got it slightly crispy it had a really horrible flavour. It's the nearest Chinese to us, but we are never going back. We also bought egg fried rice which is mediocre. These are Chinese takeaway standards, I'm not sure how it could be this bad.

Very band, the S&P ribs were not as described and the amount of meat of the ribs wouldn’t feed a cat. Special fried rice is just rice with something like gravy put on top? Very disappointing Chinese and we certainly won’t be back

Don't waste your money. Can only echo recent reviews. Tasteless watery food, stodgy fried rice, chips like toenails and ribs not fit for a dog. Always used them in the past, but the quality, or rather lack of it, has hit rock bottom. Taking people's money by default.

Has to be the worst Chinese I have had, I had duck in plum sauce,noodles and salt n pepper chicken, I have never seen or tasted duck like that, all in all awful.

Good food, they will make small changes to your order if you ask when ordering. eg extra chilli and garlic in black bean sauce.

Takeaway was average, most of us complained about the rice when we got home. Sloppy but crispy was weird as if boiled the tossed in frying pan wasn't good. Everyone else found the rest of the meal average it was OK.

I have not had food this bad for a long time, frozen chips cooked badly ,dish water flavour curry,and very expensive, don't take card payment. Don't bother going ,you will be disappointed

We hadn't been to the waterlily for a long time and we should have stayed away. This place should be called the watery curry, curry had zero taste, chips were overcooked,next to no meat in the chilli and sour special just batter,my other half paid for the food and wanted to take it back and get a refund as she couldn't eat hers at all . DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE.!!!!!!!! We will never go again.DONT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY .

Please, do not order the Duck...!? it is tastless and clearly processed, awful!! We are local but will not visit again.

So ordered Duck in Plum sauce and come home to find what looked and tasted like really mushy meatless meatballs in a sauce which had no flavour whatsoever. My husband ordered Char Sui foo yung which had no Char Sui in it. Called to query and was told that how the Duck comes! Really???? The prawn toast tasted alright but there was no sweet and sour sauce I’m used to most Chinese takeaways providing. Will not be going back

Indifferent service, quite expensive, food was hot but that was the only positive. £3 for chips, not included with the main item, were just cheap frozen fries and over cooked. Asked for fried rice but got poor quality boiled rice. Rest of the meal was just poor, won't be going again.

Terrible food , tasted like it was re heated . We was all sick in the night with food poisoning . We know this because the only person that was ok was my daughter and she didn’t eat any ! Was really expensive and most of it went in the bin ! Also shocking service, only took cash and had to go to the cash machine in the pouring rain! and no prawn crackers . Hi everyone. This is my first review of a place local to me, something I’ve not done before. Kirkby Lonsdale is a tourist destination and increasingly the visitors are driving standards in the town, which punches well above its weight in terms of the food offering it gives, with high end dining and a range of different cuisines to choose from. The volume of day trippers and holiday makers provides welcome income to shops, cafes and restaurants in the town, supporting a breadth of facilities the local population would never require or use if it had remained just a ‘local’ town. And those facilities have in the main responded by competing and raising the bar in terms of the service and quality they offer. Whether you’re living locally or just visiting, Kirkby Lonsdale really has become a vibrant and attractive place to be. So it’s a disappointment to report that the food and service I experienced on my most recent visit to Waterlily was, well…. alright at best. I say disappointment because I love my Chinese cuisine and, because I spend a lot of time in London and Edinburgh, I’ve become excited by what even modest take away establishments can produce when they try. Waterlily is one of those places that remains stuck in the memory of my youth of the 70’s and 80’s, with a predictable menu and a quality that falls way short of what can be achieved and, frankly, is now expected. Now I know the restaurant sector has really struggled in recent years, battered (not literally) by Covid, rising food prices and an economic situation that has left far less money in people’s pockets. But you could at least try. A surly attitude, a cash-only payment system - how does that look to the buying public these days - and food offered up in plastic containers and plastic bags is not the way to go. I wish I could at least be positive about the food but the truth is I ate the half I did because I was so hungry. The rest was consigned to the bin I’m afraid. The chicken curry was ok, but the crispy beef was not anything like crispy and the salt and pepper ribs inedible, frankly. One of the ‘ribs’ was a solid lump of pig fat and even my hunger couldn’t manage that. I hate the very idea of criticising a local eatery and I would love to report progress and higher quality in the future, but I’m not sure I’ll be returning soon. It’s such a shame. Kirkby Lonsdale can accept, and probably now expects, something better.

I stopped here for an impromptu visit when working late, and was pleasantly surprised. Prices were fair, quality was high, and portions generous. The salt and pepper ribs were the best I have had in a long time.

Worst chenese meal ever. Spare ribs overcooked and dry. Beef and mushroom tough and tasteless, fried rice cld and tasteless.

Prices increased over the past couple of weeks. We had 1/4 duck which was tasteless,the cucumber was off and the sauce watered down. BBQ. ribs dry and overcooked. Satay chicken flattened to death and dry. Altogether a very poor selection and vastly overpriced. Think twice before going here.

LOVE THIS PLACE we always order from here when on holiday in Yorkshire. Had a night off cooking yesterday the meal we ordered was SUPERB all fresh ingredients and very tasty this is our second time ordering from here the food was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS and full of flavour and beautifully presented if you're in Kirkby Lonsdale on holiday or passing through and want a Chinese takeaway I highly recommend this place great quality food and great prices YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED. After reading some of the reviews we were a bit dubious, but decided to try it anyway. The food was perfect. The meat fell off the ribs. The beef dish was full of beef. Prawn crackers were fresh. Would definitely recommend and will go again if visiting Kirby Lonsdale.

Do not order from here if you have allergies. We have ordered multiple times and clearly stated allergy information but everytime the allergen is included in the meal meaning it cannot be eaten in the home.

Tried to order, they answered but would not speak, i hung up kept tryin! When i got threw they give me abuse for not watig for them to speak!!! They are rude with no manners!!! Food was great service terrible ordered 6 dishes to find only 5 there when we got back home rang and it’s was all my fault I didn’t order it terrible service as there was 4 of us 2 mains two starters to appetites so I know I was right but it was just the not your problem but the lady of the desk couldn't of been shorter as a visiter to the town was not great

This evening just felt like a Chinese it’s been a while as we have been dieting!! But I must say my Beef Curry I had and my Wife had King Prawn and Mushroom Curry both dishes were not up too what we have had before and the sauce was very watery also for starters we had Prawn toast which looked liked a very cheap loaf of bread was used and very thin the bbq ribs were over cooked and almost burnt so dry!! What has changed here it used to be so good!!!! It will be a while before we return if ever!! I realise sometimes people have a bad day but everything we had was not even mediocre!! Very Poor quality and preparation!! Has anyone else noticed any problems!!!! Than you. 😞😞

Family of four got a takeaway, super quick service, good quality. Would recommend if you are in the area, worth a visit. Cost £41 for starters, meals, rice, noodles, prawn crackers which we felt was reasonable, portion size was good.

Very rushed conversation with the order taker, had to repeat myself several times as she kept finishing my sentence with the wrong idea. Once we got the food it was re heated beef with no trace of sauce on half of it. Tasted like it was pure salt... absolutely disgusting and will never return.

Very disappointed with our takeaway. One missing dish and we live too far away to go back. The ribs were more gristle than meat. The Pad Thai was just an unidentifiable egg noodle dish. No rice noodles, peanuts or egg.

Bought takeaway tonight and regret not going to the other chinese in the town which was recommended. Didnt get anything complex but sweet n sour chicken balls were very greasy. The soft noodles were bland and chips too thin ( and obviously low quality). As most chinese takeaways give prawn crackers for orders over £15 I enquired, to be told its minimum order of £25. Really disappointed.

We bought food from here last night there was sugar on the chicken fried rice and sugar on the salt and pepper chips it was disgusting I'm diabetic so was unable to eat it I spent 30 pound nearly on food that half was inedible will not be buying from there again

Very disappointed. Appeared busy and few people in front of me but order ready in probably 4 minutes if that. Could tell it had been nuked rather than cooked in wok as so called crispy special was soggy and 1098 fecking degrees. Didn't half scald self when spilt some of the molten lava down myself. More went in the bin than in me, won't be rushing back thats for sure one of worst Chinese I've ever had. Guessing the five star reviews were left by people who have luncheon meat or Findas crispy pancakes for their Sunday dinner. I'm that upset I intend to write to my local MP. A hard Brexit should sort this sort of nonsense out! I didn't ask to be born!!

Not the best chinese takeaway but certainly not the worse either. Shop is nice and clean and staff friendly and helpful. Food is a little bland and just feels like something is missing - but all in all if you fancy a quick take-out this isn't a bad place to go.

Was working near to water lilly so 4 of us decided to get a take away from here for tea, crispy beef was ok, chips were awful really hard all 4 of us threw them away, to be fair all the mains were ok apart from the spring rolls which were hollow with no filling inside, would I eat a meal from here again defiantly not.

Over the 12 Years of living In the Lake District I've had lots of Chinese takeaways and haven't been pleased. But this place is amazing. 2 years opened in the square and everything i have tried tastes amazing. 100% fresh food. Fresh meat and you can tell. The kitchen doesn't even own a microwave that to me is fresh. Come every weekend and will do until I leave Kirkby.

We called into water Lilly on way home tonight 28/4/2018 got 2 curry and chips they charged £3-20 each for frozen skinny chips and small amount of curry which I find was not value for money and I can honestly say I won't be going there again I'd rather starve

Sorry to report this but we have just had the worse Chinese take away. There was more fat in the beef than meat and the chicken satay looked as though it had been run over the night before. I can go on but this was not good....

Lovely Chinese food we have been three times now and would definitely be going again we had satay skewers, chicken noodles, chicken satay and fried rice which was really tasty even the prawn crackers were lovely. Definitely be calling again.

La comida era increíble y hermosamente pic - qué equipo! La mejor comida que he probado en Kirkby! Sin duda recomiendo el pato crujiente con triturados. No puedo recomendar lo suficiente!

Called in for a takeaway while on holiday in the area. The place was heaving with customers and telephone orders coming through as well on the Sunday of the August Bank Holiday, but the front desk and kitchen coped incredibly well and our order was ready in a reasonable time. The food was well worth the wait and helped to explain why there had been such a queue in the first place. If you like Chinese you will be in for a treat if you order from here.

Fantastic place!!! Saw it has got good reviews on tripadvisor so took a drive to order food. Hadn't got a menu so ordered when we got there. Didn't have to wait long as food was ready really quickly. Definitely no compromise on taste. Really good tasty food. Had a range of soup, chicken fried rice, vermicelli noodles and crispy chilli beef. Couldn't fault any of it.
