Just had a takeaway from Beijing House which we really enjoyed, although we ordered too much for the two of us. The food was red hot when we picked it up & survived a car journey to where we were staying. The mixed starter was tasty & very generous - we haven't had the "seaweed" for ages & had forgotten how much we enjoyed it. My wife liked the ribs best but for me it was the prawn toasts. We had a mixed curry & egg fried rice for main which was really tasty. Would use them if we visit Kendal again.

i was served by a young girl with blue hair and she was really lovely and helped me figure out what food i wanted. this was really nice as i was a little intimidated being in an area i had never been in before, and she was really charismatic and lively making the experience really enjoyable. 10/10 food too, would definitely go again

I ordered my food at 5 35 pm told 1 hour got to 7 25 had to ring them to be told the order got lost I had friends waiting for the meal eventually turned up at 7 50 pm not impressed £30 I paid now I think it should of been free of charge or at least something knocked of never again will I go there

I haven’t had a Chinese takeaway for over a year and I had a real craving for one whilst in Kendal. This place did not disappoint. Friendly and helpful staff, ready to collect in 10 minutes and really tasty food! The veggie section on the menu was varied and the portions were a good size and reasonably priced. Thanks guys!

Food later than told, over 2hrs wait for delivery after being told will be no longer than 1hr45. This is not the first time will not be going back here and will be using other Chinese. Called up to see where we were with getting food and told it was on its way no longer than 10mins.this use to be a good Chinese and delivery use to be on time or early gone down hill.

Food delivery took ages 1hr 15mins food cold had to reheat everything chips soggy. Will not be using again. Used to be really good.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS it is advertised as being open to eat in. Got a taxi here as it was raining(very heavy)and when we walked in we were told it was take out only. I think they should update their business on Google accordingly to let customers know. Not good business management at all.

We had nowhere to have a quick and healty bite on monday with kids after long travel, but here it was: cheap but good curry done in 10 min 👌🏻

2 hour wait for tasteless dry horrible food. It’s wrong what your doing here to people. Very very disappointed won’t be ordering here ever again please avoid this place at all costs.

Absolutely let down! An hour and a half wait for the food to be stone cold and then when we ring back for a refund and to complain they told us to put our food back in the container to prove that we’ve not eaten it to get a refund of £23 no happy!

We ordered multiple dishes (duck, special fried rice, ribs, won ton etc), most were good / ok. However... BEWARE the SPECIAL SATAY ! Completely inedible due to the garlic content (and I like garlic) . Unable to taste anything but garlic, burnt the throat, unpalatable and unpleasant. Better luck next time !

Very nice food compared to other Chinese takeaways in the town, and the only one that delivers to your door.

May have to wait a while for delivery (they are honest when they tell you over the phone) but at least you’re getting what you order and not what they feel like slapping on a plate unlike some other local takeaways. Ordered from here twice and the quality is excellent!

Went here for a takeaway on New Year's eve because the other takeaways had long (1hr+) wait times, I was pleasantly surprised on the speed and quality of the food, I would definitely order from here again.

I Visited Beijing house last night, sat 4th Jan. I was greeted as soon I walked through the main door. The starter was delicious and plenty, the main meal was also beautiful, I would definitely recommend this restaurant. A* to the chefs. A pleasure to dine in your restaurant. Thank you. X

Pedimos que se llevara una comida para llevar y me dijeron que había transcurrido entre 45 minutos y una hora, más de 2 horas después, un hombre muy enojado que era muy abusivo y grosero llegó mal y frío, habíamos tocado la comida para llevar después de una hora para averiguar dónde estaba. en caso de que se hayan olvidado de su orden y dijeron que estará allí en un minuto, cuando lo recibimos no pudimos comer, frío y mal, así que llamé cortésmente para decir qué estaba mal y el repartidor fue muy grosero y el personal se disculpaba en su nombre cuando no deberían tener que hacerlo. Siempre he usado esta comida para llevar durante años, pero siento que se ha ido muy cuesta abajo, especialmente cuando te amenazan con que hayas enviado a hombres por allí.

Normally I like coming here food is great But one thing to you need to do is sort your floor staff and the customer service I was appalled when a waitress took our drink order and started laughing and still walked off laughing please get new staff they are highly rude too many staff stood about watching people eat for a Saturday night we were the only ones in there says it all

It is not the most salubrious of establishments but the food here was first rate. It had excellent flavours and suitable use of chilli and ginger. The Singapore noodles was especially good. If you are more interested in the food rather than the decor, then this is the place. Prices are also fair.

Nice food, portions are a little small however . Staff were nice and food came out relatively fast but the restaurant itself is in dire need of an update. Not much in terms of drinks either. There are high Chairs available for children and it is disabled friendly.

My favourite Chinese in Kendal been going here for years. Food reasonably priced and tasty, staff friendly and helpful and one of only chineses in Kendal offering delivery. Fabulous.

We used to eat here a few times every year and it was always very good. But we have not eaten here for a couple of years as the food hygiene rating became unacceptable for a while. (Not sure what that was about as we never had any problems with cleanliness or hygiene.) But previously the vegetarian options (in other words, the bean curd) were consistently really great. Now that the food hygiene rating has improved we will have to go back again.

We recently ate here I was disappointed as soon as I walked through the door very old carpet not looked after staff friendly enough put me of the drivers in and out of the kitchen heras the chef sneezing I definitely would not recommend eating in here they had not got draft beer I didn’t eat mine my partner said his was nice but I really wouldn’t go to eat in

Having used this takeaway regularly for 2 years I was extremely disappointed with the service (or lack of!) this evening. After getting home, we realised the order was incorrect. We called the takeaway to advise and asked if they could deliver the correct sauces, which they said they couldn't as there were no drivers going past. We live a 2 minute drive away. There was no apology offered and I had to suggest for a refund on the next order and additional credit given our £30 take away did not have the requested sauces. I was only offered the a refund of £3 for the sauces. When I asked to speak to the manager she rounded it up to £5. This is the third time in the past year that the order has been incorrect. We gave them a chance to keep the custom but they failed to take the opportunity so will be getting our take away elsewhere in future.

Alls I can say is my noodles was Bombay mix ‘ hard ‘ I asked for sea weed an the sent me prawn toast ‘ that was like it had been in a George Forman grill ‘that I did not order ‘ spring rolls had obviously been frozen an chucked in a microwave ‘ tub of curry source was like a McDonald’s source heated up ‘

My third visit to the Beijing house and another great experience. I don't know why it's akways quiet it's actually a really good restaurant and great value.

Good, friendly, and tasty food.

We came here and were a bit dubious with the reviews it had received. However we found it clean and tidy and good service. Starter for two was enjoyable and beef n mushroom was tasty a bit salty but certainly eatable. Rice was enjoyable all in all meal was good and reasonably priced. It was a bit cold but they had plenty of heaters on to keep you warm.

No idea what the foods like, I've ordered twice and both times the driver has gotten lost, they don't use Google Maps apparently, tonight after chasing our order were told the driver was in old Hutton instead of stainton, then got a text message saying ' won't now be delivering', I won't risk ordering from here again.

Hot & sour soup was lovely and spicy. Chicken with lemon sauce was excellent too and the portion size was very good. To finish, I had a scrumptious portion of pineapple fritters with syrup and ice cream. All for £20 and service was faultless.

Great food. Special fried a little too salty for my liking. Service and the restaurant staff were very attentive, helpful and polite.. All in all, a great meal out... Thank you...

Place is a bit space, the food (I had a Thai green curry) made up for it

my wife and i visited the resturant for the first time , I was very hungry and was impressed by the building itself it looked very inviting . However on entering it was blatently obvious the resturant was not very clean ,The windows were dirty ,The carpet not very clean and we were greeted by two pleasant girls not chinese but local both wearing jeans with holes in the knees .They took are order we had a special meal for two this meal was very drab and certainly not special compared to many chinese resturants i have visited over the years . I can not give a glowing report as thev resturant was not clean .I will not be going there again . the price is of the meal was expensive for what we got i have deffinately had better

My family and I were visiting from Essex and searched Chinese restaurants in Kendal. Although unsure when we arrived due to the dated decor, it would be a case of don’t judge a book by its cover. The staff were friendly and helpful in advising us of gluten free options for my daughter. It was a quiet Monday evening (6pm), however we saw a few takeaway orders come in and out. The four of us had different courses (which were very prompt) and we all enjoyed them very much. The total bill was cheaper than we expected too. If more people visited this little jem, then more money could be spent on sprucing the place up.

Good food. Not happy we ask for lamb and they serve beef, Also ask for two portions of rice, they served one bowl and said it's two portion. Very disappointing. Day before we did take away and that was decent portion. . Taste OK. Won't go back.

i have used this establishment for take aways before and they have been ok, the other evening i took my family. i was very disappointed. we had 2 children with us who eat prawn toasts so we ordered 2 portions, they were £6 each and consisted of 1 piece of bread cut into triangles, thats £12 for 2 slices of bread with prawn paste deep fried, i was appalled. i ordered a lime and soda which was flat in a grubby glass and was £2, again i thought this was over priced for a dash of lime and some soda water. there was no beer on tap so the boys had a can of lager each at £3.50 per can! my partner had chicken noodle which he said so tasteless and to be fair it didnt look too appetising. the salt and pepper king prawns i had were very nice. however, i think the price is way over the top for the quality of the food and the establishment,

I went here because my preferred Chinese in Kendal was closed. I tried Szechuan special mixed meat, which was quite tasty but definitely not like any Szechuan I have previously tasted, more like a sweet and sour tomato with a chilli kick aftertaste. I had salt and pepper ribs which were standard deep fried with loads of onion, garlic and peppers dumped on it. Not enough seasoning though. As usual when I get Chinese, I had chips, and they were also average. I would go back if I was nearby and my preferred options weren't available.

Delicious meal on Saturday night, prawn crackers to the table straight away, drinks promptly served followed by delicious staters and equally delicious main courses. My son (12)said it was the best curry he's had, and he's tough to please. Young lady serving couldn't have been more attentive. Thank you.

Won ton soup was great. Chicken with yellow bean sauce and cashew nuts was delicious. Staff lovely. Never have any complaints here. Really excellent, local Chinese.

I was sceptical due to all the bad reviews but thought I'd give it a chance as it used to be so good.

Avoid we sat in and ordered chicken dish and a prawn dish both the sauces, they were in tasted alike only the starters were reasonable. Very disappointed.

You can see that at some point in the past it was a very good place, however now not anymore. Is not that clean, there was no light in the toilets... The food not bad but for example we ordered duck in orange and duck in lemon. Both of us got normal, cooked piece of duck just wrapped in sweet orange and lemon syrups and there were also pineapple pieces...

Wanted a quick takeaway and my preferred choice was closed so I thought I would try here instead . Suffice to say I won’t go again. Bland, dry, undercooked food of which the majority ended up in the bin.

I do feel that some of the criticisms levelled against Beijing House is a bit harsh. I have never had any problems and always found the food wholesome and tasty. Staff try their best too. Today’s meal was fine.

Absolutely awful what else can I say, clearly didn’t understand my order over the phone but instead of asking they made beef with what looked like dirty dish water which was meant to be a sauce, after phoning back up again and oh yes they said they understand come back in 5 mins which meant leaving the rice etc to go cold family started there as it was still warm at that time... to come back second time to beef in sweet and sour sauce which I don’t eat that sauce!!! I only asked for fillet steak in Cantonese sauce how hard!!!

Fantastic place for eat-in or takeaway. Always very friendly and the food is very tasty. During the week they have a special meal for £9.50 which includes start and mains and side dish - good value. Soft Drinks are alittle on the pricey side

If I could of rated 0 I would of done! Waited early 2 hours for food (did get discount) then after opening the bags found meals missing then being told it would take minimum 20 mins to get it back out to us. This place is a joke. Customer service is a joke! Will never be using beining house again!

years ago .beijing house was great ...UNTIL the romanians came .most of the staff at beijing house are illigal ..as in they dont have national insurance numbers and the owners know this .they smoke in the kitchen .. the food is prepared many hours before .the egg fried rice is days old they just reheat it .they use the same chopping board for meat as well as vegetables .yrs ago the deliverys took 45 mins 50 max ..now 2 hrs and WHY ..romanians in the kitchen and lazy bosses who dont want to do any work apart from taking your money .3 yrs ago myself and my friends had a party .we ordered £34 of chinese food . 1 and a half hrs later the food turned up we asked the driver .( nice guy .seen him at the gym ) we asked if he could knock off a few quid due to the time it took .he phoned the boss and she said £1 seriously ..the driver just laughed down the phone hung up and then said £25 .i couldnt believe it he knocked off £9 ,he said the chinese are very insulting ,.he said they wouldnt want the food back if we refused the food .rather money over returned food . this DRIVER should of taken over the chinese ..at least he knew how to treat the customers ....

This restaurant was so cold on this December night that the poor young lady serving was chittering, they moved a heater to my table but pretty useless, it was warmer outside, nearly forgot the food was so so

Called in here as it was relatively close to The Brewery Arts where we were going for a show. The staff were very friendly and most helpful,seating us near to the door and then moving us when it became draughty with no hesitation at all. The service was very speedy and the food was delicious. We cleared the dish of prawn crackers with ease as they were so nice and my hubby swapped his dish with mine towards the end of the meal as it became a little too spicy for him. But both meals were absolutely delicious. The decor was a little dated, but the staff and food definitely made up for that. Will definitely return here when we are next in Kendal.

Small but very good chinese food very busy on a Saturday

Maybe we I didn't go on a good night (it was very busy) but I just wasn't impressed by my visit. There was a long wait, we called our order in but still had to wait an extra 30 mins. The two people serving were clearly overwhelmed (but still very warm and friendly) and telling everyone "it will be a couple of minutes" when it clearly wasn't going to be. That being said I think the problem was with the kitchen not communicating with front of house. The food was... Meh... It wasn't bad in anyway, it was just bland and when your paying good money, meh just doesn't cut it really.

Had a takeaway from Beijing House. Great service from the staff, and the best quality food. Really happy I went here after the last one I tried was closed. Will definitely come again when I am next in the Kendal area.

I visit this place at least once a week (have done for years now) and if I can't get there they have a delivery service! I am a big Chinese fan but this has to be the best in Kendal, I know once or twice mistakes have been made but they have always apologised and rectified them - you can either eat in or take away the staff are friendly too.

We experienced eight dishes of delicious food ranging from Singapore Noodles, Orange Duck, Steamed Duck with Chinese Mushrooms and Bamboo Shoots, Fried Rice, Prawns with Ginger and Shalottes, Lamb and Vegetables. All fabulous Colt Tsingtao beers and a nice South African Chein Blanc. All enjoyed.

Not much spring onion with the crispy Peking duck, plenty of cucumber. The duck was padded out with two large leg bones under meat. It tasted ok 👌not very crispy. Pancakes poor. Sauce ok.

Lively fresh food, and very reasonable prices. One staff member was a bit shy, but all friendly and helpful. Recommended for a nice oriental meal in Kendal. Would definately come here again.

El personal no parece que trabaja allí. . . . Todos ellos tenían trackies, vaqueros y zapatillas. . . . . . . . tuvimos una comida servida. . Estábamos fascinados por el menú temprano, pero no es dado a usted a menos que lo pidas. . . Y la primera cosa que me explicaron era QUE TODO EL MUNDO debe tener el menú. . . . Sentimos como llegar dije de incluso antes ordenados! Fuimos para regalarte el menú juego para dos personas, otro adulto tenía el menú especial de 2 platos y los chicos compartían la mitad de un pato. Cuando te arranque una combinación para llevar te dan 4 de todo en el restaurante sólo 2! ! ! A pesar de que, obviamente, más caro? El pato estaba servido con pepino que parecía que había sido cortado días atrás. . . . . Se podria doblar la battens de pepino en un círculo semi y se quedaron como que ya estaban tan deshidratados! Cuando me pidieron algunos frescos me traían otra placa de la misma parada y se informó de pepino" era sólo cortar hoy! "En qué momento hoy lo pedí! ! ! ! Si estoy pagando £18. 50 por medio de un pato espero que sea recién preparados. . . . Que incluye el pepino. bloody! ! ! Al final la señora subió y volvió con un pepino fresco! El resto de la comida era mediocre, pero el servicio era horrible. . . . . . Nos sentimos como un inconveniente para el servicio de comida para llevar que estaban tratando de ofrecer! ! ! No vamos de nuevo!

Hoy pedí una China y duró una hora y media en llegar. No es como yo vivo lejos del establecimiento de todos modos.

Mi hermana y yo fuimos allí como una última cosa sin reserva. El restaurante relativamente pequeño estaba lleno cuando llegamos, sin embargo el personal dijo que una mesa estaría libre pronto si podíamos esperar unos minutos. Nos sentamos en una mesa en 10 minutos y dio un completo menú que incluía platos tailandeses junto con la de China. El servicio era atento, entrega de comida fue rápido y la calidad de la comida que se sirve es excelente. El único aspecto negativo fue la decoración, que estaba un poco desgastado, y música ambiental de la estación de radio local no parece apropiada para el entorno, de lo contrario fue una experiencia muy agradable.

We ordered in from this restaurant during our 3 night visit to Kendal. The portions are large and the food is average to good.

We had a family meal on visiting Kendal, the restaurant it's self is in desperate need of refurbishment didn't look very clean. The high chair we were given was dirty, staff didn't give good service and attention ie. No appropriate cutlery etc... Wouldn't go back. Plenty of food given but the quality was bad especially the meat..

Really wonderful food and massive portions. I don't think I have ever managed to finish a full meal! I would recommend going in a group and ordering one of the banquets so you have a little of everything. Having said that, I last went in a party of six and we could not manage to eat all the food we ordered for a group of four! There is plenty of nearby public parking which is free after 6pm. Mmm.. I'm feeling hungry, must visit again!
