The best restaurants serving Chinese food in East of England

I collected a Saturday evening takeaway meal of three dishes two weeks ago.The meal consisted of a starter, a main and a noodle dish. I unknowingly, ate my meal but my wife ate only half of hers. As she was clearing the plates she said”OMG! come here.” She showed me the live worm moving around in the meal of noodles and chicken. She was shocked and revolted and very, very angry! When I contacted the Eastern Oriental they offered to reimburse me or give me another meal! Why would I want another meal? Now I was furious! To prove how concerned they were about my complaint they later refunded £7 onto my credit card for one dish! My total bill was £20.10 for the three dishes. This made me so angry that I contacted the Environmental Health Department who are now investigating. I certainly DO NOT recommend!

Amazing chinese food. Soooo delicious. We are converted to use this Chinese restaurant & takeaway now (have tried most in Bedford). Is slightly more expensive than others but you get much better flavour and quality. They do set meals too but everything on menu is lovely and always enough for next day.

Really lovely takeaway. My partner has been ill recently and Chinese food seems to be one of the only things he can eat at the moment. We have tried other places but this is the best. Tasty, fresh and well cooked.

I have moved out of the area and come here to get pur family chinese. The staff are very friendly

Nice food had the set menu for £19. The waiter let me swap options I didn't like for an alternative. I have been coming here for 23 years where it used to be all you could eat, however, I think the owners would have been better putting up the all you can eat price or adding supplements for more expensive items eg. duck. The reason is that it seems a lot quieter than it used to be and am worried their business may suffer as locals will not like this change. Love Red Leaf, great food & service

The food is not great. The chowmein has no bean sprouts, just onion. That’s the only vegetable in the chowmein, onion. The noodles were so so dry. The salt and pepper chicken was over fried. Chicken balls were just soaking with oil. Really not great.

Just found out that the Rising Sun in Aldeburgh has closed down. What a terrible shame. The best chinese takeaway around. My husband isn't keen on chinese but has always enjoyed their food. It's ashame that they didn't have the space to convert to a restaurant as they would have made a killing. It's been reported that it's for financial and personal reasons. I know we are still in the grip of a cost of living crisis but we would have been prepared to pay higher cost for their great food. Goodbye Rising Sun you will be sorely missed

Absolutely amazing food and rhe front of house staff are brilliant.

Jade Garden is my favourite Chinese takeaway shop where you can literally see how your food is being cooked. Counter staff is polite and friendly. Price menu is also very competitive. Chicken balls and duck food is my top. Truly recommend.

Went back to Peach Bower after a 6 month break as the standard of take away had gone downhill. Didn't have cash so couldn't use Kings Garden in the high street. My wifes' chicken chow mein was ok but my S&S king prawn hong kong style was made using reheated , burnt prawn balls, in a disgustingly sweet sauce . The Sesame prawn toast was also burnt and dripping with grease. Next time I have no cash I'll go hungry rather than use this (once fantastic) restaurant.

So disappointed in tonight's meal literally all went in the bin. Everything was freshly cooked but the curry was like water and no flavour and the chicken balls were so dry and over cooked. Such a shame as normally can't fault it

My sister booked a table for a family event and was told they couldn’t seat us at 7:30 pm and if we could book for 8pm instead. We got there at 8pm and the place was empty. It was poorly lit, cold and the staff were rarely seen. The menus were dirty, and on the rare occasion when staff did make an appearance we were told that all prices were £1.50 more than what it says on the menu. Also there are no drinks on the menu and we were told to bring our own. The cutlery, which was very slowly handed out over a 10 minute period, was not clean. We were there for 30 minutes and no one bothered asking if we were ready to order. We left without ordering.

If you want good food, a good atmosphere, and to be treated like a customer, then get in the car and go somewhere else. This place is a throwback from the 70’s, with rude staff, poor facilitates, and dated look altogether. The only people that ever go here are the “natives”, and that’s because fly never strays too far from the turd

Gorgeous food best Chinese meal I have had..food was great proportion size great was hot when delivered non greasy will order again
