Another brilliant meal at the Golden Panda staff are fantastic, very attentive. Katie and James are an asset. Jimmy, the owner, came to check our meal was OK very friendly. Food was tasty and excellent value for money. You can ask for half portions to try out different items from the menu. All staff knowledgeable on menu and advised differant items I hadn't tried before will be back soon

Nice staff I’d ignore the old reviews as this was the first time back in a few years but I was pleasantly surprised about how much better it is now I will be back.

We’ve lived here for years (sorry we had been put off by old reviews in past). First time visit & it was really good. If you are local, ignore old reviews and give it a go. The Chinese and Thai food we had was delicious and plentiful. Service super friendly and attentive.

A friendly welcome, both waitresses were polite & helpful. The break between starter, which was plentiful & filling, & the main course was well timed. For my starter, I had 2 large veg spring rolls which were perfectly cooked & presented. My main was veg Pad Thai with tofu & crumbled peanuts. It was very good, too good to leave any, so I took what I couldn't eat (too full!) in a takeaway box. The chef came round the tables himself to ask for feedback which was nice. I don't visit Woodbridge that often, so won't be back any time soon, but on my next stay there, it will be a definite place to eat.

I haven’t eaten here since way before lockdown. We thought we would try somewhere different to meet up and enjoy a meal with wine. Well, we sure weren’t disappointed. The waiting staff were lovely and kept us updated on our meals. It seems they are incredibly busy with takeaway orders which was quite evident from seeing the comings and goings of people collecting their orders. When our food arrived it was hot and plentiful, and most importantly tasted delicious.. My friends were suitable impressed about their dining experience. This will most certainly be on our ‘go to’ list each month for our meet ups. Well done Edward and team. We shall see you again very soon. 🤗

First visited the golden panda before Christmas as had never been before. The food was very tasty and the staff very attentive. We found the portion sizes good and very good value for money. We were that impressed we visited again and had the same if not better experience. Our waiter James was very attentive and the owner even came and spoke to us to ensure the food was OK. Again portion sizes were good and food very tasty. The salt and pepper chicken is the best I have tasted. We will now be regulars to the restaurant. The staff are a credit to the place.

Picked up takeaway at time we were advised to , food was cold, ordered curry sauce but only given half a carton

Had my first time visit today as a takeaway for myself and husband. Had the most amazing king prawn curry and boiled rice and husband had sweet and sour chicken balls and egg fried rice. Very tasty and plenty of flavour. Overside portions so definitely value for money. Will definitely be having again next time we’re in the area!

Visited with my friend quickly, amazing service by the owner, made us feel so welcome even though we were in before it opened, will definitely be returning!

An ambient transition to the East! Upon entering the restaurant we were swept up in the warmth of the front of house team. Perfect drinks and a selection of faultless dishes followed. We were lucky enough to meet the restaurant owner, who is extremely passionate about the food he serves. If we are working in the area again, we will be sure to visit. The ‘mein’ place to go in Woodbridge!

First time trying this restaurant. Walked in to order a takeaway. Nicely decorated and has an inviting feel. Smiley friendly lady at the desk. Ordered one appetiser just to see. Ordered salt and pepper spare ribs. Sat down took out my phone and logged into Amazon two minutes later my food was ready. Wow, got home find no ribs at all just one to two inch chunks of dry tasteless gristley pork and loads of under cooked vegetables. Not a rib bone anywhere. Very disappointed. Will not return

We hadn't booked and Sunday eve were struggling to find somewhere to eat, we thought it would be ok, service really wasn't that good, staff really didnt seem to know what they were doing, when ordering another pint of beer a can was just plonked on the table, food was ok but we both had different beef dishes and the beef was really chewy and the dishes were quite bland. Decidedly average.

Family meal for eleven of us. Service was excellent. The food was spot on, all arrived hot to the table and the eleven of us all had our food at the same time. Great experience. Nice little touch when they dimmed the lights and played happy birthday for my mum and son. Great to be returning to normal and so grateful that restaurants like these are still about to give us such a great experience.

Had a set meal , all food well balanced and so so tasty , have been going here for over 40 years , speak to the chefs if you wish to change anything all of it is great

Ordered 4 dishes. Chicken chow mein - was dry and tasted like smoke. Sweet and sour chicken - chicken was ok but the sauce was awful. Sweet and sour calamari - calamari was ok but again the sauce is awful. To be honest i even wouldn’t call it sweet and sour. Just weird aftertaste Bbq ribs - the only thing was good.

We thought the food was good and the menu had a good variety of dishes. Prices a little above average, but good size portions and i think overall the value was fine. Service was a bit slow but ok... saw a lot of takeaway food being collected. The only problem we had was the restaurant was really cold - other tables also asking if the heating was on? Cold day in Dec you don't really want to sit and eat in the cold! Need to get the heating sorted out!

Well, it's the only Chinese restaurant in Woodbridge, so that's got to be worth something. The waiting staff were charming and friendly, if a little inexperienced. The starters (salt and pepper calamari, tea smoked chicken) were really good and could have formed a meal in themselves. The prawn crackers were nicely spicy. But the main courses were disappointing. The chicken had that glutinous, marshmallowy texture that made it seem like it had been mechanically recovered and then reformed. The duck was all too real, though, with stringy bits and gristle. Overall, we'd rather go and get a takeaway from the Castle Kitchen

A last minute decision so we hadn’t booked , but did manage to get a table. Really friendly staff and we were made to feel welcome. Good food and plenty of it. Reasonably priced and we will go back again. We are new to the area so a good find for us. It would be nice to have suitable background music playing, and perhaps that would stop somebody playing music from their phone…. Couldn’t believe someone would do that, but they did. Not the restaurant’s fault but just a shame.

Was in Woodbridge for a weeks holiday & enjoyed this place so much we visited twice !!!! So nice to visit a Chinese restaurant that has not gone down the “all you can eat buffet” route. Friendly staff & great food, will come back to Woodbridge just to visit this restaurant again !!!

Went during Lockdown for take away , very tasty, the hors d'oeuvres were very nice , i asked for my curry extra hot and for me it was only mild but so is a vindaloo to me but at least they tried, i have read...

We ordered food from here. My husband picked it up got home and it was the wrong order. Was made to drive back, no apology no extras or money off for inconvenience considering it is a 4 mile drive from our home and their mistake.

Thought I would treat ourselves to support a local business. Absolutely shocking food. Ordered a couple of dishes. Squid was dry at least 2 days old along with the Thai sweet chilli chicken. Chicken chow main was very cheap thin noodles drowned in soy sauce....

I ordered a takeaway last night and the food was absolutely fantastic. So fresh and bursting with flavour. Quality meat and very nice vegetables. This is by far the best in the Woodbridge area. I highly recommend !

We popped in one evening for the set meal. Generous portions and tasty food. We would definitely visit again.

Our appetisers arrived in reasonable time however we then had to wait approximately 45 minutes for the main course by which time we were past it and losing interest. I got the impression they were giving the 'take away' customers priority and we only received...

We visit this restaurant every few years when we are in the area. Every previous visit had been positive so it was with some trepidation that we went last Sunday having read a poor review on here. We were going with another couple and had raved over the food here. I must disagree with the bad review on here. The two young staff where a little inexperienced but were very pleasant and performed their duties well. More importantly the food was excellent and the portions generous. The menu is very extensive and even includes some Thai dishes. Starters, mains and a bottle of wine came to £55 for 4 people. Exceedingly good value AND they use proper white tablecloths.

Something has seriously gone wrong with this once great little restaurant the food used to be fantastic the service fantastic but it seems it's been run by students who really have no idea whatsoever about service food or how to even take an order, the young student chapter came to take our order then came back 10 minutes later and took the order again as he didn't understand how to read the menu you we made it easy for him and gave him the numbers from the menu which he had to to look up to see what the actual dishes were absolute joke I'm afraid, the food this time was very salty and seem to have a high amount of MSG in it it, I always have a couple of beers when I go out for dinner and this place has only got the cheapest possible carlsberg lager and they are charging £4.50 for a 300ml can, I'm really not sure what has happened to this lovely little place but it was the best one around we used to come all the way from Colchester just to have a meal there but I'm afraid if we don't start reading good reviews then this place will inevitably go downhill come on golden panda you really have let the side down stop using cheap student labour they are bloody useless and not doing your business any good whatsoever that place could be a gold mine

This was our first time here and the food was very good and tasty.The starters we had were lovely,the staff were a little hit and miss that night good value for money.

Went here tonight (29/9) with a friend. The two boys working were inattentive and quite frankly useless.

My boyfriend and I ordered a takeaway meal from here and found the food to be fresh, tasty and well cooked. The chicken was lovely and juicy and the flavours were spot on. Will eat here again!

This place, in fair, used to fill me with a sense of dread... But now days I just can’t get enough!!! Maybe it’s just what I order, but I’m I big fan of the Golden Panda, maybe we all need to give this place another chance :D

I think the only reason this place has stayed in business is because it's the only one in Woodbridge town centre. We have tried it a couple of times and both times been disappointed - I havent tried the two Chinese places just outside Woodbridge but would recommend going to either Mister Wings or Papa Panda in the centre of Ipswich if you are looking for a sit-down Chinese rather than a takeaway. Both of these are extremely popular and are much better quality for money.

We had a good meal here but the very loud music slightly ruined it as we were unable to hear each other speak.

We have lived in Woodbridge for 6 months or so and had a few lovely meals in here and as takeaway, however, we had takeaway last night for my son’s birthday and we were VERY disappointed. Chicken and beef were really horrible and the sauces were very runny and strange. Really not impressed. Will not be going back at all now! Also, staff were useless and uninterested!

The food is exceptional. Probably the tastiest Chinese in Suffolk. Service was good, drinks slightly expensive. But overall a jolly nice restaurant!

Poor service shocking quality of food

Food was served hot and with a smile. this is the nearest Chinese Restaurant to us, and they will have to put up with us again and soon. They also do Take Away and worth every penny.

My "local" chinese, always cheerful staff, food is good and service terrific, perhaps a little lacking in atmosphere but usually busy.

My visit was on a Friday lunchtime.A very attentive, and plesent, young man took my order. I chose to go for the "Any five items for £7".The food arrived quite quickly. The portions were small but adequate for the price.

Restaurant 1/2 full but after 2 hours and only received a mediocre duck dish decided we had had enough. No apology offered and all staff didn’t care

We had a take away from Golden Panda over the festive season. Despite being a busy night (with a queue in the reception area), the food was ready when we arrived to collect, 45 minutes after ordering as agreed. The lady who served me was very polite and efficient.

Visited for ad hoc lunch. Restaurant was empty and rather cold but we sat by a portable heater so warmed up a bit. Some good value lunch options: pick 5 items from list of about 10 (I had sweet/sour pork, egg fried rice, pancake roll, prawn sesame toast and spare rib) - all presented in small portions on a oblong plate - standard Chinese fare, enjoyable. A coffee or soft drink is also included for £7 (but not jasmine tea) - good value. The other option is a full size meal £8 - friend had noodles and sweet/sour prawn... all OK but rather salty.

Visited on a Friday night and on reflection should have walked away after the frosty reception. The young girl serving was extremely rude throughout our visit, almost throwing our drinks at us and barely a please or thank you from her!

In the context of the bizarre shortage of (edible) Chinese food in the Woodbridge area, Golden Panda is definitely the best we have had.

I had stopped eating Chinese takeaways as I had some bad experiences. We decided to try here as we knew it was busy. It was very good and we will definitely go back again.

Our Family have been going to this restaurant for many many years. Today was the worst meal we have ever had, we will not be returning. The food is expensive and extremely poor quality. I don't know what has happened in the past year but I can only summarise with revolting. It has all been thrown away. A very very unhappy customer.

It's very average fare here. I don't know why people are raving about it. I had a takeaway, which was.... average. Not great. Not a disaster. Rather expensive for what it was. Ive also had a lunch here, enticed in by the delicious smells of Char Sui roasting that were filling the surrounding streets. When I got in it was nowhere to be found on the menu though! Well played, Golden Panda, well played! :) I had a typical Anglicised Chinese lunch, based on a very sweet, fairly bland chicken curry and an expensive pot of tea. In fact Golden Panda does charge quite a pretty penny for their uninspiring fare. A £4.50-£4.75 dish from an Ipswich takeaway is £6.00+ here. Nope, forgettable. Keep walking. Theres a decent curry place round the corner, or a new Burger/Pizza place opposite on the corner.

we usually go for a lunch which is very reasonably priced, about £7 for a big plateful from the special lunch menu but they also serve other delicious meals, the staff are very pleasent, my only complaint is that it isnt very warm so wear a wooly or leave youre coat on

I've been here over 100 times I'm sure, over countless years, Bank Holiday Monday was the first day we had been since the temporary closure. THe food was served up well, on time, all hot through and looked and tasted fantastic, the next day we were all ill, and I continue to be 1 week later. Knocked me for 6, over ever really had it worse once and that was in another country. Not sure what changed recently, but some food prep standards were lacking.

We booked a table for nine people, at 6.30, on a Saturday night. The restaurant was full and had a good atmosphere. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Being that it was a Saturday night, there were a lot of takeaway orders which meant that we were cold throughout the evening, as the door kept opening and closing. I do think we were the unlucky ones as the majority of the other diners were around the corner away from the draft.The staff were wonderful and attentive and apologetic even when not required. I was happy having a moderate speed service as it made for a slower and more enjoyable meal.The let us bring our own birthday cake and the whole restaurant sang to my daughter.A lovely atmosphere and great meal out.

The restaurant is reasonably well decorated and the staff were friendly. There were 3 or 4 round tables which I always prefer to a rectangular table for larger groups. The spring rolls were large and tasty, which was good because the rest of the food took a little longer than expected to arrive. It was a busy Saturday evening and they were also doing takeaway orders, so a longer wait than usual makes sense.All the main meals were delicious and reasonable priced, they were also happy to modify menu items and make dishes that were not on the menu.Overall we had a lovely meal for a good price, I would happily go there again.

Had a take away from Golden Panda and, as usual, it was amazing. Really tasty and well cooked. Good portion sizes and worth paying a little extra for the quality. Have eaten in before which was just as good and I must eat in again soon. Would recommend.

I have been coming to the Panda for 20 years and it always pleases. Dining in is an enjoyable experience with attentive service. Usually, though, I order takeaway. It's always well cooked and presented and the range of dishes is a notch above the average high street Chinese.

The food was average, not the best Chinese takeaway in Suffolk. We only had 4 dishes and it took around an hour of waiting. They forgot to add the crackers to our order & the chips were indescribable, very salty. I wasn't impressed with it overall and would probably use an alternative next time.

I used the Golden Panda as a takeaway and always found it excellent. They only take cash for orders less than £20 and don't tell you in advance but the food is on time excellent and I've always been able to park outside. Last night we had a sit down meal and was most impressed. Hardly any wait before the food arrived and it was hot and very tasty with ample quantities unless you're someone who likes a large plateful! £28 for 2 including 2 halves of lager shandy and one desert wasn't expensive compared to the average Indian and I parked in the library car park which was a short walk away! If you want a quick meal in elegant surroundings at a reasonable price the GP was perfect.

We rang and ordered food for a specific pick up time. The meal was ready to collect on time which was good. However we were not impressed with the quantity of food we had for the 70 pounds bill. Portions of the takeaway were small and I would rate the quality of the food at best average, at worst poor. This was very disappointing. It is quite a long way away before you can find somewhere to park legally so food was not that hot when we got home. We will not be going there again. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.

Called in on spec on a busy Saturday night and were warmly welcomed and offered a table straightaway.Service and food were excellent, we opted for a set meal for two at £15 per head. Crispy duck was soon on our plates and how excellent it was. Main course followed in due course, this comprised of five more dishes that were all brilliant, it felt like being back in China. This is an accolade I don't award lightly as I rarely use my local Chinese restaurants as the food is westernised and nothing like the real thing.I wouldn't say it's authentic Chinese but the best your likely to get here.

For years the Golden Panda in Woodbridge looked so empty that I wondered how it managed to keep going. The food was excellent so I imagine the takeaway trade kept them afloat. Now it is busier and has been a little smartened up. I'm guessing new management.Most of their dishes are great but I noticed since this change that the chop suey sauce was just a watered down sweet and sour sauce and many other diners had the same orange coloured sauce. This is not right for chop suey which is more savoury and definitely not orange. I'm hoping they will read this and do something about it. I still go there but avoid chop suey.Frank.

We recently visited twice within a few weeks of each other. Have found both occasions very enjoyable and the staff polite and efficient. The Lobster set menu for two was exquisite and hot ... Drink prices reasonable. Tables set with crisp white linen and flower decoration. This is a relaxing, clean restaurant.There is no car park.

Have been going to the GP for some years - often with gaps in-between visits.The place looks so tired, it has not been updated in 20+ years. The food is OK - not the very best and certainly not the worst, can be slow for take away orders.... needs some love and paint spending on the restaurant. There are far worse nearby.

Can be difficult to park, has a small car park at the side of the bank and there is parking in the street but you are probably better to go to the railway station and walk up. The fare is reasonable and well cooked though not the cheapest Chinese fare there is a friendly welcoming atmosphere, do reasonable take away meals which are popular

We visited the Golden Panda in Woodbridge for a quick lunch. We had the 'lunch menu' which was £7.00 pp. There were 10 items upon it and we had to choose 5 items each. We also bought a bottle of Australian Chardonnay which was £12.70 and a good choice. We were very happy with our meal it was very hot, freshly prepared, tasty and well presented. The service was OK but we felt that the waitress wanted us to hurry? The take away menu looks good and as the food was so enjoyable it will not be long before we return for an evening meal. It was great value, thank you chef at the Golden Panda.

Tonight we decided to treat ourselves to a takeaway and opted to try The Golden Panda. We ordered Satay Prawns,Veg Chow mein, Prawn Toast, S & S Chicken , Chips and Mushroom Rice. Well what can i say, it was sadly the worst i have ever tasted and waste of money. The chips were obviously refried, hard and covered in so much salt. The Satay sauce was so runny like water and tasteless the rice was cold, chicken balls were aweful, chow mein was so salty. Disappointed is an understatement. It has put us off ever going back there again sadly.

Pleasant staff nice sitting area accommodating to change of dish in the set menu food was fast to table but did not feel rushed

on entering this restaurant to order an evening take away, the young female member of staff appeared irritated as her conversation with another young member of staff was interrupted by my presence, despite the restaurant being empty. I was met with rudeness and sarcasm when I questioned my order. which put me off completing my order and left. my family have been coming here for many years and although the older female member of staff is a charming woman, the younger rude member of staff lets the restaurant down.

My partner and I had a meal at golden panda last Saturday , food was good ,service was very good .staff friendly and welcoming , we had a great time there well worth going too .

We ordered a take away and after waiting for over an hour found the food almost inedible due to it all being so salty. Rice was very salty and duck also. We would get another take away from here.

In spite of mixed reviews we decided to risk a takeaway from here for old times sake (we used to go here regularly at half terms when our children were young) - but that was a LONG time ago and I think ownership has changed many times since then. What a disappointment. We had the Cantonese Feast for two plus a few extras.The Crispy Duck was fine but very few pancakes, so we have a lot left over for sandwiches. Sizzling Lamb with spring onions was so salty we couldn't eat it . I don't know what the "Crispy beef shreds" were made of but they were so chewy as to be inedible. Stir fried mixed veg were swimming in liquid and tasteless. Never again

Slightly disappointing lack of welcome on arrival but once seated, having collected a second menu from the bar, attentive staff. Chosen meal was delivered fairly quickly and was enjoyed by us both. soiled tablecloth removed for us to enjoy our coffee was appreciated. They played Christmas music on the 2nd of January. That was a small annoyance of what was a good meal but I couldn't stretch to give Golden Panda a 4 because of the complete lack of atmosphere. At one point we were the only people in the resturant. Friendly staff and good food brought it to a good 3/5.

Have dined here for many years now, the food has always been pretty good. The last visit left me never wanting to return however. The manager (lady in her late 50s approximately) was so incredibly rude, i have no desire to ever return. When it is 10.15 and you are being asked to "hurry up and order your mains because the chef finishes at 11" , it doesn't really set you in a very relaxing state of mind for the rest of the evening! You can see why this restaurant is so reliably empty where it used to be full of punters ! ... very sad , Woodbridge is very ready for another Chinese restaurant !

Had other Chinese meals, but this is the best, a little bit more expensive but worth it, the staff are very friendly, food always better hot. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
