Mando Restaurant in Bedford

We have been with mando for years. Have tried so many dishes on the menu but always come back to meal C for two . Sweet andsour chicken balls with extra sauce. Huge plateful on Saturday night with plenty left for Sunday. Tbh it's 4 meals. Always delicious always fresh. Just the best chinese takeaway in Bedford. Have eaten in a few times and also amazing.

Fantastic meal! Friendly staff. Would definitely recommend. The All You Can Eat menu was great. So much to choose from. We’ll be back!!!

The food was nice however the staff are so so grumpy , they made us feel like we were an inconvenience. We asked for a group photo which takes seconds to be told they were too busy , fine , ok… but it seemed very rude, the way we were told. We then felt that despite the restaurant closing at 10.45pm, as we were the last table we were being watched , we felt so awkward we ended up just asking for the bill and leaving . To top it off the food that was left on the table , we asked if we could take it home. They said no. So the left over food would have gone in the bin! What an absolute waste and we had also paid for it. Food wastage in my opinion is not acceptable of customers would liken to take it home and after all it could not be used again as was on our table ! Really terrible service from which would see me not return.

I went to Mando for a takeaway last night 8/06/24, the food I had was DISGUSTING and I landed up throwing it all away... heres why. Special fried rice was very over cooked and in lumps (rather than nice fluffy rice) Singapore rice noodles all chopped up like baby food.... why do you do this? I was told by the woman who seved me that the noodles come whole... LIAR Same with king prawn chow mein, 4 prawns and noodles chopped to bits... I always thought chow mein was with bigger noodles (wheat ones) anain more lies from this woman. I will never order from this awful place again, also I found lots of fly's at the bar area.. Avoid this place for takaways, poor food and staff for liars.

Always a great place to order our Chinese food, one day we will actually strep inside the restaurant. Always fresh always hot always delivered when they say. I order directly from the Mando website.

Very poor service throughout followed by a meal which left us both with the unmentionable stomach pains (you know where i'm going with this ) the following day. Starters were disappointing and tasteless. The Salt and Pepper squid was gloopy and limp, the lemon chicken rock hard and flavourless, the duck was like timber and the chicken and sweetcorn soup reminded me of polyfila. The pattern continued to the mains (bland - beef with ginger, prawns in clear syrup sludge, which again disappointed. Sadly the flat coke was also heavily priced at a whopping £4.20 per glass. A very poor experience that i will gladly steer for a long long time.

Came to eat last night (Tuesday) with group of work colleagues. Some of them haven’t been before as I’ve been here to eat before. Food for hot and fresh as always. The shredded beef is our best. The waitress was brilliant she catered to us considering some of my colleagues kept changing their minds with what to choose because there is so much choice. Two lovely tasting dishes recommended. Best place to eat and great value for money.

As a family we love eating out and trying out food across various cuisines including Chinese - and we have devoured from the takeaways to the Michelins… A few weeks ago,we decided to visit Mando at Bedford - a chinese restaurant with alacarte buffet We have been there twice already ! The buffet menu was huge and orders made fresh - lot of sea food / dumplings noodles etc - Staff is quite helpful and the owner Steven ready to listen to you.Food is superb and fresh and usually prompt service Quite crowded around dinner time - suggest book in advance.There is a large car park around 2min waking away .. Overall very satisfied and of course will return again

I’ve been dining in this restaurant with my family for the past 6 years and I always look forward to go back again. There’s been sometimes that the service was not as great as usual but I still wanted to go back again. We really enjoy their food and services. I can understand that sometimes keeping everyone happy is no possible but all I can say is that both the food and their services are good and I hope everyone else gets to enjoy it. The all you can eat menu is offering a wide enough range of meals and the dishes are generous. I have never been turned down for asking more food.

Nice relaxed restaurant. Fitted in a large group at short notice. Adapted menus easily to cater tastes and special requirements. Owners and staff very welcoming. Great night over all.

We ordered a takeaway and it went in the bin- duck was just gristle and soft skin no flavour. Chicken balls very hard chicken and again no flavour - this was once our favourite restuarant but would certainly never buy from here again

Another great visit to the Mando. We have visited several times over a number of years. We always enjoy the food here. The owners are nice friendly people. Thank you we will be back soon.

Been here to eat many times over the years especially before covid. Last two times we went the food is delicious as always, service is good and atmosphere. I would like to point out the last two times we went there are few things that concerned us as a customer eating. A young lady served our food ( with a frown) but we all spoke about her hair so long that kept having to move it before she leaned over us or if we was going to get a false nail in our food. I state this because her hair was so long and only half tied back and her nails was very long. Then we came in Saturday night and Asian girl was working wearing open toed Sandals!!!!!! Both these staff didn’t look professional, didn’t dress appropriate to the job serving food for Health and Safety.

Really enjoyed the food, which was freshly cooked to order from a comprehensive menu and good portions. The house white went well with the food. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Couldn’t fault it. Was disappointed that staff were pleased we’d eaten all the food we had ordered. Please order what you think you can eat rather than waste food, they will be happy to add to your order if you want more. Would definitely recommend

We have had the most amazing takeaways from mando for the past 16 years. Never a bad meal always fresh and hot. Tonight we ordered a meal c for 2 and sweet and sour chicken balls. Absolutely awful. Clogged warm rice. Chicken balls were horrible and insides so chewy. The whole meal was a disaster. Usually enough to eat next day but this one is going in the bin. Really disappointed and I feel a bit sick 😫.

The food was all freshly cooked and the portions were very generous. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I went with a group of ten people which made a lot of work for them, yet the service was excellent, we didn't have to wait long for each course. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a good value night out.

Can't understand the negative reviews, we have been dining at mando for at least 4 years and the food is fantastic, we always leave there so full up the salt and pepper squid and King prawns are to die for! Never had a bad meal there.....maybe the negative reviewers should stick to a Donna kebab on a Friday night.

The staff clearly don't want to be there and are borderline hostile. I will certainly not be returning. The only reason I've given them one star is because I couldn't give zero.

I went to a dinner with my family it was a disaster that evening, I do not recommend Mando Restaurant the food is horrible, the service is terrible, the atmosphere is toxic, the owner is rude, I argue to avoid it please.

Mixed hor doeuvres-won ton was just pastry, chicken was so dry I had jaw ache! Prawn roast and prawns were ok. Chicken balls very doughy and had a funny taste. Crispy Mongolian lamb was super fatty and we barely had enough for four pancake wraps! It was on a bed on pickled cabbage. Called the restaurant and we were told they weigh the meat! Its such a shame as last time it tasted ok. Also n•72 on the menu we couldn’t even eat! The chicken was so fatty and really off shapes!

Coming from a chinese background i can assure you this is the worst food ever! i wouldn't even serve it to a dog. i was extremely happy to find the place had a chinese menu and offered 'traditional' dishes. During the lockdown we have been looking for a chinese in Bedford to replace our usual. After a lot of searching,(I have to word this very carefully as this is my third attempt to write an acceptable review for tripadvisor who have flagged me twice now for reasons that had nothing to do with my review but what the hey, attempt number 3.) we came down to two possibilities. Mando being one due to the good ish reviews on tripadvisor. Bedford is notorious for having poor quality chinese restaurants but we took the plunge. We ordered a takeaway consisting of : barbecue spare ribs, crispy chilli shredded beef, egg fried rice, vegetable spring rolls, pork and beansprouts, chips.The ok:Chips were as expected. The usual.Vegetable spring rolls were nice, bigger than we usually have. Unfortunately spoiled by not being able to dip them (see later)Pork and beansprouts were ok. The beansprouts did not look fresh/good but we ate them anyway.The Bad:We ordered egg fried rice and as seems to be the standard in some lazy chinese restaurants, we received boiled rice with egg. Not what we ordered.Crispy chilli shredded beef looked great but was bland. Only ate a small part.The Awful:Saved the best for last, probably the worst spare ribs we have had from a chinese in Bedford. Pink in the middle. Took a photo, hard to see on camera. With some kind of gravy like ( I hesitate to say sauce) liquid sloshing about around them.(personal private video link of watery ribs removed as requested by tripadvisor despite it not advertising a service or commerical site but take my word for it, it aint pretty)It had no relation to any kind of barbecue flavoured sauce I have ever tasted with a strange smell neither of us could place from a chinese or otherwise. Worse was the consistency. I took a video of it sloshing around in the plastic container with the ribs being intermittently washed in it which looks disgusting. Suffice to say they were thrown.Overall - Awful and a waste of money. If this is the second best in Bedford, God help us. Needless to say dont bother. Cant comment on the in-restaurant dining.

Our usual Take Away has been closed Owing to the Covid situation - shame - as it was always excellent (Good Chef in Clapham). The reviews for Mando Takeaway looked good so we thought we would try it out. It was extremely disappointing. Bland. Poor quality. Even the egg fried rice was a let down. It’s not even a cheap option. We will not be going back.

We went out to pick up a takeaway from a different takeaway last night but it was closed so we found this one. Not impressed. The prawns (in Thai basil / sweet chilli sauce) tasted nice but were like bullets. The chicken balls were soggy. There was too much sauce on everything making it all one texture. Hopefully our normal takeaway will be open soon !

We went to Mando restaurant for a family celebration 15 plus 1 child, we had a big table upstairs in a lovely setting, then food and drinks were brought to us all night, the food was hot and delicious and plenty of it and the service was great, had a wonderful evening and would highly recommend

I go here most weekends, I work away and don't have the time or energy to cook for myself when I come back to Bedford.I can't speak for the delivery or table service as I don't use them, I just go in and order a takeout. It's usually very quick.The staff are friendly and helpful, I usually go for some kind of crispy duck/lamb and/or salt-n-pepper squid, all are lovely and the best I've had from any Chinese.

Popped along for te eat as much as you like, well the vast array of dishes were amazing, with me choosing a very tasty soup, dry ribs and pancake rolls, prawn balls, I then tried to have another meal, though managed two more dishes, sensibility is the key as some people get greedy, and cannot finish what they took, that'll incur a penalty and quite rightly so, robbing another diner of their chosen dish.Pleasant and attentive staff ensures my return visit.

Place looks very tired and was cold, must say the food wasn’t that great either so much squid that no one wanted in the first place , I’m sure there are other places better than this? I’d not go again it’s crap

Going to this restaurant over the years, I can honestly say it's going downhill and the waitresses don't give a ****. The food is standard (nothing to write home about)but the decor is awful and dusty. I can understand the food not being the greatest but the state of the restaurant is unacceptable in so many ways. While waiting for my food to come out I counted 18 cobwebs around the lamps and on the walls and for this I won't be coming back as I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like!!!

Travelled down from Manchester and had a great evening meal at this restaurant. Anne was the star, she was an amazing waitress and host !!

This is the first time coming here as was recommended by a friend, came with a group of friends. Looked really busy every table had people eating. Didn’t know what to expect as it’s a buffet but food freshly cooked. The waiter explained how the buffet works but didn’t understand how it does work, so he asked a waitress to come and explain it. The waitress told us how to order and how the buffet works which was amazing, she said we could order more after but after the starters came out we realised the portions was enough for us all. We didn’t need to order anymore. Service was great even tho it was busy and the waitress took time out to explain to us in detail about the buffet even when it was really busy. The food was amazing and hot and portions were plenty, in fact we couldn’t even eat it all. Definitely will be coming back here again especially for the price. Going to book our Christmas party here.

Our two favourite Chinese in Bedford have really gone down hill (Chef Beijing, Peking Palace) - so we went looking for the best. Mando is good. The portions are generous and the food is delicious - beef in black bean sauce was a scandal of flavour and the bak-choi was perfect. So Mando is now our family's takeaway of choice for Bedford. Free delivery around Bedford within 3 miles and it came about an hour after our 6:45 Saturday order. PS: we lived in Hong Kong 4-years, like our Chinese food, a lot!

This is the third time that i have eaten here and so far i havnt been dissapointed. The food was good and tasty. Great value especially if you have a big appetite. The first time i came here i did find the food ordering a bit strange other than that i was pleased overall. Will be eating here again..

We sat down to eat about 8pm. Our dinner party was big but there were plenty of staff at hand. When the waitress came over she spoke through the menu and price in detail but confused us all with how she explained everything. Repeating the price and telling us we’re limited to order even though we’re at an all you can eat buffet! Only to discover the fact was we can order what we wanted as we go. Starters were ordered and came out slow, nothing tasted nice at all!! After a few bites by fiancé said he’s feeling sick and didn’t like the food. My daughter also said she didn’t like the food and started feeling sick. She couldn’t eat anything no matter what we ordered she just couldn’t eat. I went to speak to our waitress and explained the situation. She offered to speak to the person in charge to see what they could do with the bill. They came back and said I would still need to pay for my daughter even though she DID NOT EAT. I expressed how disappointing this was because I have no problem paying for the rest of my family to eat. I was then told they I am paying for the seat my daughter is sitting in. He want even joking!! So I asked whether she eats or not she’s still being charged? He said if I had stated this when we arrived they could have avoided this but as explained to him we all came with the intention to have dinner. All the time I took speaking to him my food came out and went cold and I was expecting to go eat it?? I said I am very disappointed he wasn’t even willing to cut my daughter’s price a little knowing the food was not wasted as the rest of the table was still eating so No waste! All this greed for what? I stated that all of this has now put me off my food and refuse to eat it cold as well as seeing that it may be making my partner and daughter feeling ill. After no apology, understanding or even contemplate that it could have been the food that made stomachs turn I paid what I thought I should pay and that was because my other two daughters had eaten. So I paid half my bill. Had I’d known by the time we’d come home that we’d all be feeling ill I wouldn’t have paid anything! I’m beyond disgusted with the food and how ridiculous it was for them to expect me to pay for the seat my daughter is sitting in because she didn’t like their food and it made her sick!! Being the youngest of my family you’d think it would have been something they were willing to solve for customer satisfaction. Would not recommend this restaurant!!

Been coming here for 5 years and this was the last time. Food was bad and as soon as your on your last mouthful there hoovering round asking are you finishing. The place is out dated the staff treat you like they don't want you there and this is such a shame as it was a lovely place. Like most of theses places, they've stopped caring

Wouldn’t really class it as an all you can eat as there is a limit on how much you can eat, you can only order a certain amount of starters, which are then brought out on a single plate for you to share; great idea I guess if everyone like everything or isn’t fussy with food. My and my boyf have very different taste, so for us we’d rather smaller separate plates. Second course is a choice of three pancake meats, you’re allowed one between the two of you; again not preferable if you have different tastes, I don’t eat lamb and he’ll settle for duck but would rather the lamb. Asked if we could have both but got told it’d be an extra charge and we’d have to wait until we’d finished the duck... by the time we finished the duck, we both felt like we didn’t want to eat anymore. Waitress said that’s why they don’t allow you to order your mains as everyone is always so full... don’t think this is the case, more the fact that people are probably put off with having rules on how much you can eat at an all you can eat.

The man do all you can eat I don't think so 5 people at our table we were told that we were only allowed 4 mains and 2 sides mains were very small so really one person went without basically over priced and poor

We attended a private party in the upstairs function room on a Saturday evening. We went for the party buffet menu and I can say that the food was delicious and the food was certainly plentiful!!

Had a lovley meal here last night from start to finish food was fresh and very tasty the king prawns were to die for staff very polit and welcominging also very busy place unexpected gem of a chinese on my doorstep will be returning soon

Visited for a friend's birthday, this restaurant is close to Bedford mainline station, no parking onsite but restrictions end at 6pm. This is an eat as much as you like, but it is NOT a buffet restaurant. All food is prepared and cooked to order so each dish is freshly served and this helps to greatly reduce food waste. Also you are not restricted on choice because you order your dishes from the menu. We started with spring rolls, satay chicken, chicken wings, spare ribs, prawn toasts. Whilst ordering starters they take your order for either crispy lamb or crispy duck, we opted for crispy duck with pancakes. Our mains included fried rice, crispy chilli beef, Thai green curry, chicken n ginger with spring onion. Portions are served to the number of diners and were ample. The food was fresh, hot, tasty and served promptly. The only disappointment was that we had asked for a birthday plate of ice cream but the staff were so busy it was delayed and in the end we had to leave before it was served. The bill was adjusted accordingly.

Love this restaurant food is always superb and service is friendly. Huge choices from a 3 course menu. Our favourite is the chicken satay and the pancake rolls. Great value for money.

I went with my Fiance as our usual place was closed, and we are quite new to the area. We were so pleasantly surprised! The staff were all very polite and attentive, and the food was delicious!! Its brilliant value for money and i would highly recommend! Its a really great way of trying new foods too.

Our favourite Chinese restaurant was fully booked last night so we decided to give this place a go. I wish we hadn't to be honest. The staff were nice and apologised for the long wait for our drinks and food but they all looked rushed off their feet even though it wasn't very busy. We ordered starters of chicken satay, smoked chicken which was tough and dry, very sugary seaweed, ribs and prawn toast which just tasted like really thick fried bread and nothing else. Our next course was lamb pancakes. The lamb was mostly fat and was very soggy. We were then invited to order our mains but we politely declined, paid our bill and left disappointed.

I tried their food before realising their food hygiene rating was only three (I don't eat the food from anywhere that has less than four or five). This is the Chinese take away I have been to that doesn't sell any pork! Unbelievable, since China is the largest consumer of pork in the world by far. Also, their meat is halal, which I can't eat on ethical grounds.

My son and I had a meal here last week 24/02/19 The food was lovely and tasted great, It was a buffet evening so eat as much as you like!! only not so nice was the Calamari which was very greasy and undercooked for my liking, Prawns were great rice perfect and beef chow mien yummy!!

Great food, large portions, good value. I’d recommend collection, the food is that much fresher (street parking though). We had Singapore fried rice, Szechuan king prawn and chicken curry, all were lovey. There are many disappointmenting Chinese restaurants in Bedford, this is not one of them. Highly recommended.

Very basic restaurant, reasonably priced, nice food and friendly staff, was very cold in there so unfortunately the food went cold very quick.

We had a family dinner at Mando last night. We have eaten here quite a few times over the last 7 or 8 years and it is still pretty good value. We had a range of starters (always good), aromatic crispy duck was ok and mains were ok too.

Without doubt the worst takeaway we've ever had. Absolutely no quality control, they managed to burn noodles! Even the prawn crackers were overdone. WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN! No restaurant with any professional pride would allow a meal that bad to leave the kitchen. I have traveled in Indian, South America and parts of North Africa....in the worst slums in Calcutta I had better food than Man Do served!!! I cannot state strongly enough how poor this meal was, they are clearly trading on the old reputation, this is NOT a 4/5 * place any more and it looks like it hasn't been for some time.

My wife and I had attended a family celebration at Man Do and been very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, the value and the service. It is not situated in the most salubrious surroundings in town but inside, it is very nice. I won’t comment further on the the in-house meals as many people have submitted reviews beyond noting that our party left hardly anything. However, on the strength of our night out, we ordered a delivery takeaway. Put to one side the fact that the delivery time was a little over optimistic, we were delighted by this too. The food we ordered was hot, tasty and as good as the sit down meal we had had. But even better for us was the volume. We aren’t frugal eaters but we managed to get two meals out of the order! A lemon chicken, chow mein and sweet and sour pork Hong Kong style plus fried rice and free prawn crackers, stretched to an unexpected second meal! Thanks, Man Do!

I went here for dinner and was blown away! The value to start with is just fantastic, and then once we had our food we couldnt believe the quality! Its not your average chinese takeaway style food, its really well cooked, and the portions are ideal, meaning you can pick a few different things to try and not have mammoth portions after, but equally if youre a fan of one particular dish they will adjust the portion to reflect it. I will be going back time and time again! The service was prompt and friendly, and a really nice atmosphere.

Disgusting worst Chinese I have ever had. Chicken balls were grey and not chicken, prawn balls did not taste of prawn! Kung po chicken tasted strongly of vinegar, chicken in black bean tasteless, prawn in satay really poor, deep fried chill beef awful and lastly noodles broken in bits and to top it off it was cold .... waist of time and good money £33:60 waisted

We've been here several times over the past few years. We've always found its fixed price "all you can eat" menus to be extensive and great value. The staff are always very welcoming and the food is always freshly cooked and well served whilst it's still hot! If you're feeling hungry then head on here!

We would never have discovered this out-of-the-centre restaurant if we had not been introduced to it by a friend. It's near the railway station and there is a council carpark just four minutes walk away. Unpretentious outside, but SO welcoming inside. Every member of staff was so friendly, so helpful and so full of smiles that we all three felt at home straight away.

We came here for a celebration meal, as an alternative to the usual sitting-out-all-day-buffet. We were very happy with the meal here.

Went here last week for a large family gathering 21 of us considering there were so many of us the staff were very attentive, nothing was to much trouble, we had the set menu and the courses came very quickly and everyone was happy, we had 2 large round tables with rotating dishes in the middle, excellent.

Me and my husband ate here whilst visiting Bedford and were pleased we looked at trip advisor first otherwise we’d probably never have eaten here due to the area and the look of the restaurant from the outside.

Never judge a book by its cover . From the outside it looks old , and unloved. The inside is fresh and vibrant, the staff are so nice. For 14.95 you can choose 2 starters each, crispy duck or lamb,a main and a side . All the food is freshly cooked . There were 4 of us and we had a good mixture . My favourites were the salt and pepper mushrooms, bbq spare ribs , crispy duck and the chicken in lemon sauce . This place is amazing .

Drove past the restaurant numerous times which is located in the "Bronx" area of Bedford so first time at Man Do due to a family members recommendation.

The all you can eat is amazing value all cooked fresh to order. The staff are really friendly, however the decor is really dated and is in desperate need of some paint. If they spent a little money doing the place up I would have given it 5 stars.

This is not your typical all you can eat buffet

Been to mando quite a few times, the food always delicious, staff very caring , definitely come back and recommend！

Well I started to eat the Chinese and thought this is nice. I ate my chow mein and within 5 bites I found a bone. I decided to ring up the restaurant to report this and the man said they use the chicken leg and that it’s an accident. I told him that this shouldn’t happen and it should state on their menu that it may contain bones. He said I could have £2 off my next meal or £2 if I came down to see them. Ridiculous Chinese and nobody should go there!!!

Just ordered a take away from Mando, it arrived luke-warm was lacking in flavour, even the chicken balls were awful. I began to eat my noodles when I choked on a long hair. Disappointed to say the least. Mandon’t!

Always deliver beautiful hot fresh food . Never late. They say within an hour and it's never late 40 mins max. Have never had a bad meal in the 10 years we've used them . Can't recommend them highly enough. And wouldn't go anywhere else for Chinese food . Love it

No estoy seguro de qué esperar cuando reservamos, pero muy contentos con nuestra elección. La comida era abundante y sabía genial. El hecho de que ofrecían era genial aunque no toma la oferta ya que estaban completos. La cerveza era caro.

Hemos de pedir comida para llevar, Mando por un año y medio ahora. Fue recomendado por amigos y es muy buen lugar! La comida es deliciosa y está delicioso! Sin duda lo recomiendo.
