Absolute GOAT of Chinese take aways in Bedford. fast and friendly service and the food is the best.

Our family used to get Chinese takeaway from here back in the late 90s. Think it may have changed hands a few times since, but glad to see it back to how I remember. I ordered the special fried rice, sweet and sour chicken balls and BBQ spare ribs. Everything arrived early, hot and was absolutely amazing. Will definitely make this my go-to Chinese takeaway in the future 😋

We have used. This, along with a couple of others as they are local golden star provides good quality, Chinese food with a varied Menus One of the highlights has to be the giant pancake rolls. We Probably have a Chinese meal from here about once every 6 weeks. And it is consistently good with reasonably fast service and always arrives Hot. Staff are pleasant and there is plenty of choice. I would happily recommend.

Absolutely disgraceful customer service!! We had a issue with our meal and the owner was extremely rude and actually said to us to go somewhere else despite being regulars for years!! Food was so late and was also cold phoned owner only to be treated like a dog! AVOID!!!!

Been using this takeaway over 12 years, first complaint I have given my son gets disrespected by the owner! He couldn’t even get a word out! We will not be ordering again and are taking this to Bedford council AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! Poor CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

Food was 20 mins late we have had this takeaway for the past 12 years first time we have called and asked for next order money off the owner was very very rude Chinese bloke please avoid this takeaway the owner is so so rude they have now lost our custom never again! Goodbye

Very very rude customer service spoke to the manager didn't even let me speak all I wanted to know is why my order was last, worst part is we have been using them for over 12 years at this address they are a disgrace how he has just spoken to me I will be reporting to the council! We always order from here as its the best Chinese food we've had. We ordered tonight but 1 item wasn't in the order. I rang and the lady I spoke to was great! We had our missed item delivered a short time later, it was worth the wait, the food was delicious and golden star deserves a 5 * thank you very much 😊

Well this used to be the best Chinese takeaway in Bedford, not now changed their chef food wasn’t cooked as well. Also they missed out an item of our meal which I had to ring back about and then when we got it we already eaten our dinner. I will be thinking twice about going back there, which is a shame. I don’t been using this takeaway for nearly 30 years.

Had the family round and decided to treat them as haven't had there food for so long and always use them Hard to get through on the phone as they were so busy but managed and within 30 minutes large order was delivered to the door and was amazing and hot Friendly on the phone even when I called back to go through my order as I had a 4 year old menu price at home lol 😆 She went through everything bless her I will always use this lovely Chinese take away Excellent

Been eating here for years.... recipes have always been good!... the chefs not so good! All of our rice was crunchy with uncooked grains really disappointing since it is a bit part of our meal... 5.70 for crunchy chicken fried rice fed it to the dog... never ever had uncooked rice like that anywhere but here! Poor is an understatement... ribs are pathetic for the money.... prices always vary when questioned they say they hadn't updated their menu.... customer service is not high on their priorities either.... not the only one to feel like this read all reviews....time to try somewhere new after 20 years!

Good Western Chinese food, tasty and not greasy 5 star hygiene. Dishes can be modified to suit tastes. So yes I would recommend. The large spring rolls and some sweet and sour sauce for dipping is real comfort food. On a cold night.

Used this take away for the 30 years I've lived in the area... would never have considered going anywhere else.. lately it's gone really downhill, bland food if your lucky enough to get it cooked properly, missing ingredients, the last 2 meals have been awful... time to try somewhere else I think

Chicken curry was OK . The bbq ribs were defo the worst ribs I have had they were so tough I couldn't get the meat from the bone so we decided to throw them. Flavours were basic was nothing special about this meal at all .

If you'd asked me prior to last night what I thought were the best Chinese takeaway's in Bedford, the Golden Star would have been on that list. I've lived in the area most of my life and I have ordered from there many times. Last night, however, was awful. Never have I had a bad meal from there before. The pork balls were chewy. The food was bland. The sweet and sour chicken is the worst sweet and sour of any kind that I have ever eaten, and repeated on me for the rest of the night. The beef was dry, tough and tasteless. But, the meal did come with a free set of resistance bands! No.. Seriously! It came with a free set of exercise resistance bands! I thought maybe they'd been put in there by mistake, but they were inside a ziplock bag, which was inside a small takeaway style carrier bag, and neatly packed in with the rest of the food. If this is the state of their food at the moment, you can do better. Much, much better!

I think the food is cooked in China and shipped over it takes that long to arrive

Impressive Chinese Takeaways shop not only with a 5-star rating for food hygiene but also the outstanding food quality and flavour. I ordered their food as just happened to pass by after public business on Friday. It is worth mentioning their unique, exclusive very elaborate primarily in-house developed fusion with seasoning ingredients curry. Succulent, tasty, well fried, freshly cooked sweet and sour Tofu, the secret recipe of salt and pepper Tofu which is great for “eat for fun” especially paired with beers. YUMMY😋! Each dish is seasoned with its own spices and ingredients which come out smelling savoury and appetizing that made the greatest impression on me and the flavours have remarkable depth. The dishes were executed perfectly feast for the eyes as well as the stomach. As the shop is running busy on Friday night, it has taken a while to get to my mouth, but I've found the best Chinese takeaway in the planet.

Im visit my friend in bedford, so order the meal from this takeaway shop. Fast delivery. I love their meal especially the crispy beef and the singapore vermicelli, really tasty. Definetely will order again when my next visit to bedford.

Not been here before placed a large order prawn crackers rock hard. Chicken dry like been reheated. Really disappointed

Have been a customer for many many years including with new management. Every time I phone the prices vary even though I order exactly the same thing. When questioned this and the price I paid before lockdown and if the prices had gone up was told no but given no explanation just that the manager said so. When I asked to speak to him was told he is too busy!! Such a shame that loyalty is no longer worth anything but good luck to them if they are too busy after reopening following lockdown to care but just not with my business as simple principles in my book make a good business last!

Apsolute waste of money! I hope it was just our order, otherwise I would think people have no taste in food! After reading all the reviews I'm more than disappointed after today's take away! Wasn't sure if I was having king prawns or mash of them! So did my partners king prawn chow mein was well over cooked! Shredded beef tasted like paper with melted sugar! That's what you get when your fav one is shut for holidays!

Used for first time today, after a long trip back home from the seaside, and didn't fancy cooking!A friendly lady took my call, and gave me the option to pay by card or cash which was convenient.I was going to drive to collect it, but they said they could deliver it for 50p. Great!Food was delivered well under an hour, which was quicker than I expected!All food was hot and fresh and tasted great. They gave some free mini spring rolls which we enjoyed. My whole family seemed to really enjoy the food, so I felt obliged to give them a call afterwards to thank them, which isn't something I would normally do lol Highly recommended! Long wait but food is great they really need a just eat order machine. It seems to much for one person to take orders over the phone and at the counter so so busy at weekends but it's worth the wait good food

Food, as always, was very tasty and of a good quality.

My family love this place. I unfortunately cannot comment on most of their menu, as I only ever have their chips and pineapple fritters. But boy do I love them from this Chinese Take Away. Simply delicious and worth going out of your way to get them. I'm lucky I live not too far away and they open on a Sunday, which is brilliant when you just have to have wonderful chips on a Sunday evening. Mr M xXx

My family & I ordered from this restaurant last night for the first time, the food was delivered hot and within the the time advised, the bbq ribs were a little disappointing due to the lack of bbq flavouring but all other dishes were delicious, fresh and full of flavour, and the complimentary prawn crackers were lovely and light. We will definitely order from Golden star again and have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant.

First time visiting this takeaway and what a great experience. Staff were very welcoming and pleasant. Food was prompt considering it was a Saturday night. Here we get to the most important part, the food.....it was delicious! Really tasty, we will be definitely visiting again in the futire!

Ordered food, wrong food delivered so then phoned up to inform them that the wrong food was delivered.I was told that if I wanted the meal I actually originally asked for, I would have to pay again. Must be under new management. Avoid at all costs. Poor customer service. Food is average.

Always good when back home to have prob one of the best Chinese’s in Bedford. Food is always good and can never fault it. Only negative from tonites food was after being told it would be ten minutes for collection it was nearly a 40 minute.

Have been using this place for many years and has generally been very good. Had a takeaway a month ago and it was awful. Phone up and complained and the meal was collected and a refund given. However, we tried to give them another chance as we thought it was a one off occurance and tried to place an order but was met with a very rude and unsympathetic lady who basically accused us of lying and said that if the food was again substandard we would not get another refund. We immediately cancelled the order and will never use this place again. NO COMPROMISE - NO ORDER!!!

I use to come here all the time until the food started tasting really odd. And I became I'll from the food and so did other members of my family were ill from the food we had ordered. But since then we've not been back. I'm not saying that all the food is bad. But after that we lost faith in the take away.
