The best Chinese I have had for many years, not greasy, great flavour, loads of meat. Highly recommend!

Absolutely awful, will not go here again! "Honey" ribs, clearly cooked in golden syrup. Also for far too long, you could use them as kindling! King Po King Prawns, cooked with peanuts. Nice enough, but you'd need to be Inspector Morse to find the bloody Prawns! And the icing on the cake, the pancakes rolls. Or should I say, the pancake whales. These things are like burritos full of string beans, dipped in fat. I had one bite and had to have a wash. Disgusting.

Best Chinese takeaway we’ve found that will deliver to Wixams. We’ve tried most of the others and this is hands down the best. Tasty hot food delivered when they say or earlier.

I’m from London so when I say I know a good Chinese shop I do.. after trying a few Chinese shops in Bedford this is the best one I’ve tasted so far. Really hard to find a decent Chinese shop but the things I buy from here are on point.

Rude,expensive,cold rubbish,we all had food poisoning for 3 days after eating this muck,absolutely would not recommend,no wonder they have to leaflet drop to get business ! Useless ! Avoid at all costs 😝💩

We went to the pearl to get a take away. Having heard bad reports a while ago we thought we would give it a try. Wow! Fantastic food reasonable prices and a lovely lady taking order. Meal delivered on time and piping hot. Definitely the best Chinese around. Would recommend.

Useless ordered over two hours ago told it would take 90mins to deliver. Once it took longer called them and woman said it was just leaving shop then over half hour my delivery wasn’t here so called shop again and lady said we’re far away 15min drive if that and then she replied she didn’t know how far we was. Useless will continue to go man du from now on

Order took 2 hours to arrive, was cold/lukewarm, salt and pepper chips are raw and inedible. Egg fried rice has barely any egg either. We usually go to Hoi Tin and never have any problems but they don't deliver to our new address unfortunately.

Beautiful Chinese we have recently came back here because our Bedford regular kept letting us down!!! The pearl is incredible food quality is a bit expensive but worth it! And the service from the English ladies is amazing they are so lovely and have a good laugh every time I call would deffo recommend 5/5 💙

My partner asked me to put this on here… He went last night for a collection after having a very bad day. A young girl in pink served him she asked him “if he was okay because he looked down… After giving his food she said take care & better days will come” This was so lovely from someone so young he said & the food was soooo good highly recommend

We’ve placed orders with them for several years and service has always been really quick with deliveries, but tonight has been terrible taking over an hour and 15 minutes waiting for our food. You phone up to ask where it is they say, oh we’re just cooking it now’ and I’m like hang on, that’s mad. Then when you give Fred back that you’re disappointed with service, the person on the phone starts giving you verbal abuse and won’t give you a chance to talk and carries on being super rude and lying..You’ve destroyed a long time customer relationship as I will never ever order from you again based on the rudeness and lying.

Website said delivery 18.00 to 18.30 That suited us just right. Turned up at 17.30, now got to keep it warm while we wait for our visitors. Not impressed

So the pearl was my favourite a few years ago then I jumped ship to Food Top but then Food Tops portions got so small I gave up there and went back to the Pearl. It's pretty good food, sometimes a bit much MSG but overall I will keep returning for now.

I order here every single week.. The food is absolutely amazing it’s got lots of flavour to it and also so fresh my food is always hot wherever I collect or get delivered I highly rate this chinese and would say it’s the best around staff on the phone are so lovely and always to open to answer questions. Would love to thank the cooks themselves!!

CLOSE THEM DOWN. Wouldn't go again if it were free. Like what seems to be every "chinese" take away you go to (and buffets haven't been to a restaurant) below standard 2nd rate garbage when these first started popping up in England they weren't cooking this s#@t. If they were they'd be zero "chinese" takeaways here today. the pearl lol a gem this place most certainly isn't. Dont worry about hygiene ratings you pathetic council get on to food quality before anything else but like the producers of my meal tonight they couldn't give a s##t about it. Save your money sand go hungry.

Great Chinese, nice food and great person on the phone (Cara), delivery is normally quick and they let you know if it’s going to take a while. I recommend the chilli shredded beef (yum)

Friendly service when I went to collect and tasty food

My go to takeaway at the moment. Meals I’ve had so far are deep fried crispy chilli beef, salt and pepper ribs and Singapore chow mein. All really well cooked and incredibly tasty.

Dont have takeaways very often, usually the pearl is excellent, sadly not tonight,.no rice even though she read the order back to me, crispy beef was covered with a sickly sauce not crispy but chewy hardly any ginger in the beef and ginger even though I asked for extra ginger and had to pay cash as apparently their internet wasn't working. Not good

I visited with friends last evening and ordered for myself a meal A1 which was sweet & sour chicken Hong Kong style , fried rice and pancake rolls. I was so disappointed to find that the meat and the rice had been crammed into one container, half the size I normally have at other restaurants. Also there were two very small spring rolls in a paper bag when I was expecting larger ones and maybe more of them. No sweet & sour sauce at all so it was very dry and far to little meal for a cost of over £10. I was so dissatisfied and would not go there again.

We've been customers since moving to Bedford 5 years ago.. tonight we weren't impressed. We forgot to add some sweet and sour sauce on to our online order so intended to pay for it on collection. However, we weren't told you aren't taking card. My husband walked around to try and find a machine unfortunately the closest wasn't working. Needless to say we had to for go the sauce as they didn't want to be nice about it, I'd of given prawn crackers back for the sauce but no. Also I always say no bean sprouts and my meal was full of them tonight!

"The Pearl" is definitely an appropriate name for these guys. After trying most of the Chinese takeaways in Bedfordshire, this one is a rare great one. As we only live round the corner, we often place our takeaway orders in person, and it's always worth the wait. Staff are very friendly and always up for a chat whilst we wait. They even accommodated my partner, who has coeliac disease, and advised how they could make her a dish with no gluten. I usually judge a Chinese by the quality of their Singapore chow mein, and theirs is streets ahead of the rest. Loved the salt and pepper ribs, and the kung po king prawns and the shredded beef. We'll probably see you guys again next week. Be well!

Ordered food online and was light to eat. Very tasty and arrived on time

I ordered for the first time in nearly 2 years, Ordered Vermicelli which was chopped up like baby food, very disappointing for the price, Rice was very over cooked, the only good thing was the Ribs, total waste of money as others do the Vermicelli which comes as it should LONG and NOT chopped up like baby food...... also prices have gone through the roof at The Pearl... I will NOT be ordering again from here, Only when there would be a change in ownership....

Customer service from Gemma/Jemma is second to none, always bubbly and nothing is too much trouble. The food is amazing, better than anywhere else and always arrives hot and on time.

Have been ordering from The Pearl for a while and tonight ordered online. Then got a text to say delivery would be nearly 2 hours later! So I called and asked if OK to collect instead which I did. When I got there I asked for the delivery fee to be refunded and was told that this was not possible as they hadn't been paid for the food yet??? Got home to find crispy chilli chicken was far from crispy and the beef dish was disgusting and tasted like fish so was thrown away. Last time I will be getting food from there. £18 completely wasted.

We ordered a Chinese online on New Year’s Eve, once ordered delivery was confirmed at 8:55 we ordered at 6:12, tried everything we could to cancel as this was going to be too late for us, phone line was continuously engaged throughout the evening, and there was no way to contact them online following the online order, Decided to leave it and enjoy our food later than we originally wanted, at 9:25 30 mins after our food was supposed to be delivered we called and finally got through, we were told the online system had been accepting orders the restaurant couldn’t cope with and delivery would be within the next 30 mins, offered a very unapologetic sorry an option to cancel (we’d already waited 3 hours at this point!) and quite a sarcastic ‘it’s NYE we’re busy!’ We felt we had no choice but to wait, food arrived at 10:10 4 hours after we had ordered!!! Food was average at best :( disappointed to not have had an option other than to wait and with the response we got when speaking to the restaurant, won’t be using these guys again!

We always return to the Pearl. Not only is the food consistently good, friendly service (in particular when Gemma/Jemma takes the order). Always super seems up beat, even when they are up against it!! One error occurred where only one instead of two dishes were sent and this was IMMEDIATELY rectified and delivered by Gemma with sincere apologies. That is one error out of A LOT of orders!! The service/delivery time has also improved dramatically over the years too! When they say a time, it’s pretty much delivered within that time…. Unlike some who promise the earth and deliver…. Well they don’t! I wish they could clone that one person and spread her out across the entire service/hospitality industry (a valuable and rare commodity!!).

AVOID AVOID AVOID The WORST chinese I have ever had! I would give minus stars if possible. Everything we ordered was either over or under cooked. We paid £40 for an inedible meal and only got a sorry when we called to complain. Honestly don't waste your money!

Everyone has their go-to takeaway place, this isn’t our usual, but we’d been told to give it a try. I always go for the Chicken Kung Pao (Kung Po) with rice, this means I can get a good feel for the comparison between restaurants. I’ve never had Chicken Kung Pao like this before, it’s usually a kind of spicy sweet and sour with things like bamboo shoots, cashew nuts, water chestnuts etc. This was not sweet, nor sour, nor particularly spicy; it was very savoury, almost like a black bean dish, but bland. The rice that accompanied it, delicious and fluffy. The prawn crackers (had to be done), crispy and tasty. Based on my one experience of The Pearl, I unfortunately can’t rate it very highly. I hope that I just caught them on an ‘off day’.

We tried this takeaway for a change after a recommendation, it was disappointing the food lacked flavour and was very bland. I tried the special curry, and it was tasteless, we as a family were very disappointed, the price of the food and service from the delivery was excellent, but i would prefer in future to pay that bit extra and enjoy the meal.

Had takeaways for a few months staff taking the orders are always polite and professional, give realistic time scales and they are delivered, food is always hot and delicious!

I have only recently discovered this hidden gem of a Chinese takeaway, and have to say.... WOW!! I am so impressed. The ho fun.... Delicious. Salt and pepper chicken AMAZING, (also good as wings/prawns/chips... Not that ive tried them all.. 🤔) shredded beef out of this world. And the curry 😍. Definitely will be using them at every available opportunity!

Food is 10 out 10, only reason I'm not giving 5star is due to customer service and i paid £20 for my food paid for 3meals i asked for 1 chopstick the woman kept telling me i have to pay when i used to get it for free here and other places give it for free because of the rudeness and the body language and the tone of the woman voice im giving 2stars less

We had to find a new takeaway after our previous one stopped delivering to Wootton. As always, it's a gamble when you order from somewhere new. We've had three fantastic meals from this place so I was really surprised to read some of the reviews on here. Yes, the delivery times can be frustrating but at least they warn you about them in advance. Our most recent order took over two hours to be delivered but it was worth the wait. We have our favourite dishes and have been trying to get the best combination of dishes each time we order. As with all takeaways, some dishes are better than others. For instance, we love the Satay Chicken skewers and wish there was more sauce on them. But that is such a mild issue that it not stop us from ordering them. The chilli chicken and salt and pepper squid are amazing and the chicken balls absolutely superb. We've had no major complaints about any of the dishes we have ordered so far. I look forward to next time and maybe trying a few different dishes.

Received a menu through the post so checked what type of meat is used and was told it was Halal. Very surprised as I assumed Chinese style would not involve Halal meat. Wonder how many people would know this, or even care, that animals were killed in this manner. Seems most takeaways and food in restaurants now use this meat.

The food is always lovely, however the lady who answers the phone will always lie about the time your food will be with you. For the past two weeks we have been told 1.5 hours and it’s actually arrived 2.5 hours after order placed. If it’s going to be that late just tell people then they can choose if they actually want to eat that late! Food is always good and hot just a shame about the lies about times.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! That's was the most disappointing take away I've had in a long time. I would never order from here again. The crispy rolls were soggy, the beef in oyster sauce was too tough to eat and the sauce was water! The chicken curry was bland as bland can be. It was truly foul and never again. What a waste of my small, once a month take away budget. Come on chef! Sort it out!

Really good food, quick delivery and low delivery charges.

Appreciate the lockdown traffic tonight but having waited 2 and a half hours for our delivery (having been told 75 minutes) to then be told the driver had delivered to the wrong address having already queried after 90 minutes is simply not good enough. Won’t be using again.

Lovely takeaway meal.Delivered on time easy ordering.1/4 crispy duck and pancakes delicious.Very tasty King Prawn curry not too hot ,huge prawns.Kung po.prawns nice and spicy,excellent chow mein and egg fried rice.Sweet and sour chicken balls very good.Great prawn crackers and fortune cookies.Enjoyed by everybody.Highly Recommended.

We collected and order of just over £30 - they told us it would only be 10 minutes for 6 dishes before the order was ready! They missed out a chow mein from the order and the food hard clearly been reheated. The meat was dry,

On a busy night The Pearl delivered to me in the time frame advised and with the meal hot. The food itself was tasty and as described in the menu, would recommend spring rolls and beef in blackbean, The cooking is not going to win gourmet awards, but this was a self treat, guilty pleasure, Saturday night take out; with a bottle of red and good company. Such times are important and The Pearl helped make them.

All the food wasn't hot enough, and the crispy beef was drenched in sauce, more like soggy, cold beef, overloaded with far to many carrots....I only went here because my usual takeaway was mega busy, but next time I'll happily wait! Not atrocious but nowhere near anything good.

My other half has an allergy to nuts and sesame seeds (including oil). The staff here could not be any more helpful when dealing with us. They really took care in relation to allergens as they had a massive poster in their shop in both English and Mandarin, and just to confirm, the staff showed us the cooking sauces and the chef advised us appropriately about the dishes.

Awful. Chicken curry had slimy chicken floating on top was a watery curry liquid and floating was 3mm of oily fat. Rice was under cooked and hard. If you can't cook rice shut up shop! Won't be going again

Disgusting service woman on phone had a terrible attitude hung up the phone 3 times on me Saturday 12th may 2019 and was told on the 3rd call order from somewhere else in future if your not happy with our service :( we orderd £32 of food and took over 2 and half hours to arrive being told 1 hour and 20 maximum because they was busy. Was offered £2 refund which was insulting and after the bad service cancelled my order delivery still came and I refused at the front door apologised to the driver and said you can thank the staff at the pearl for me not accepting the order. Overall terrible experience first time ordering + dont post leaflets to a area that you know your going to slap a hefty delivery charge on top of the normal delivery price. Because I didn't eat the Chinese 1/10 for the experience I would even say ordering from JUST EAT is more reliable than the pearl chinese and that's saying something as I don't even think they are amazing most of the time !!
