Magic Wok in Waveney

Placed an online order which was ready as soon as I arrived. We had the chicken Szechuan style along with Singapore rice and prawn crackers, the food was tasty and enough for wife and I to share with a bit leftover. Always use this place for a Chinese meal and see no reason not to continue doing so.

This use to be my favourite Chinese in the Lowestoft area but after receiving my order tonight I have thrown every bit of it away… Chicken with pineapple tasted vile, had no taste, I usually would have barbecued sauce but chose curry sauce for a change, was bad idea, it also vile, Chow mein dry and vile, it taste like it was off, chewy… Never again !!!

We were visiting Oulton Broad by boat and got a takeaway from Magic Wok for dinner. It was the best Chinese takeaway we have ever had - it was delicious. We will definitely go there again when we next visit.

This is an excellent place to eat value for money,every thing we had as been spot on but the salt and pepper chicken is very very dry.

Tonight was the worst I’ve ever had from here the food was cold and tasteless so disappointed ruined Mother’s Day had to heat it in the microwave

Been going for over many mant years, missing chips part of mealbox, called within 1 minute of delivery.claimed it was there told them 6 times chips were missing. And to top it off they sent chicken balls not pork balls. they just Weren't listening, I just hung up, over a portion of chips I won't be returning. Lost a customer

Treating the family to a pricey meal, one dish was forgotten and the other dishes were not as nice as other Chinese restaurants. Everything dry, chewy and bland. The free salt and pepper spring rolls tasted reheated and chewy. Won’t be ordering from here again.

Love the magic wok food , but online ordering is terrible / useless. Had a to go somewhere else for delivery. Please sort out your web page ordering system it is not fit for purpose.

Chicken balls burnt and not good to eat asked for replacement and the second lot were the same all food reheated I guess???? They don’t like complaints you get treated bad don’t deserve to be trading still

Always enjoyed the food here and this was no exception, there was enough for me to have over two days so very good value for money. Roll on the next time

Hi I would just like to say that the magic wok takeaway received today was absolutely superb . We have tried many takeaways in the area but today I felt that I had to telephone the magic wok today to say how good the food was . Couldn’t find an email address on the their website to reply . Ordered by phone midweek at 8pm. Was delivered on time and everything was fresh, hot and delicious. Meal boxes are excellent value and plenty of choice.

OK, first time I ordered from Magic Wok I placed my order and went to take the dog for a walk while we waited. My partner called me 10 minutes after leaving to say the food had arrived. I cannot for the life of me work out how they managed to deliver so fast. They're not always that fast, but they are always FAST in our experience. AND the food is delicious and very good value compared to others in the area and we've tried most.

Absolutely disgusting 🤢 who put gravy on Special fried rice ?? Pancake roll prawn & chicken balls cooked in Extremely old fat 🤮 & even managed to burn chowmein £60.00 valuable £ down the the drain on absolute crap, Holiday makers STAYFARFAR AWAY & Go some where else

Excellent value takeaway at £5 for a main and side (collection and cash only). Salt and pepper beef was extremely spicy!!

This was truly awful. Overcooked noodles, gloopy satay sauce, tough mixed meat lumps and indescribable tomato like fluid that they were sunk in. So bad that we just couldn’t eat it. What a waste of money. Never again.

Had a lovely take away over the weekend, from The Magic Wok. I had the egg fried rice and chicken with ginger and spring onions, yummy! My daughter had sweet n sour chicken and bbq ribs and her boyfriend the spicy noodles. We all tried each other’s food, as you do, and each dish was hot and very tasty! Very large portions, so good value for money too! We shall be back!

Ordered a vegetarian tofu with black bean sauce, a special with black bean (beef, chicken, prawn and pork- requesting the pork was taken out as I don’t generally eat it...) and large boiled rice, even had a call back to make sure of the order. Opened mine, pork. Thought, oh well, I can put up with this and continued eating. Not sure that stir fried beef belongs in the vegetarian tofu dish. Wife very distressed, no meat for over 35 years to find that halfway through her meal. Telephoned to advise and was made to feel it was my fault.

Excellent food, best Chinese in the area. The sweet and sour sauce was delightful and the salt and chip chips were something else! Great work

Even the dog wouldn’t eat it! Gloopy mess most of it was burnt and totally unedible! And to top it they charged for delivery less than a mile away and a service charge! Absolutely disgusting 🤮

Used magic wox for years but never again... Think its changed hands ordering was hard work then they got the wrong house number so was cold... and owner ( well he said he was ) was rude and not interested.. always order same dishes and these where nothing like normal. Yuk!!!

The only open restaurant within walking distance, despite its low profile we had a very pleasant dinner of Singapore noodles, black bean beef and duck in plum sauce. All excellent and friendly service.

1st visit well worth it food hot and very tasty cooked quickly good service. I will.be going back!!!!

One of the few good things to come out of lockdown is my discovery of this Chinese restaurant. My usual one was ok but could be erratic so I tried a change (it was recommended) and I’m so glad. Their food is excellent, hot and fresh; reasonably priced and the delivery drivers are sweet! I always ask for a few extra chillis on my crispy shredded beef and they oblige perfectly. Highly recommended.

Ordered take away to be delivered,good service had Kung poo king prawns which were large, very toasty sauce. I asked to have the nuts removed which they did. Did order online on their website. Had special friend rice as well,. Plenty to eat and also had beef dish.

Have ordered from magic wok several times before and food has always been nice but tonight we ordered and had the worst experience. Our food arrived and we were missing all of our sauces so we called and they said it would be with us in 10 minutes. 15 mins later no sign so called again and they said it had just left the shop. 30 mins later no sign, waited and waited until I called again by which point I was obviously really frustrated so I called again. They still didn’t even know what was going on and it still hadn’t even been sent out they were all clueless and the person on the phone was not helpful at all and was actually quite rude. They said they could send it out on the next delivery by which point our food was stone cold. Another 30 minutes later we still hadn’t heard anything so we decided we would just go collect it ourselves as they are clearly incompetent and don’t care about their customers and just lie to them although we were given a refund they simply were not apologetic about it at all and when I walked out I heard one man shout ‘I don’t give a f***’ which was clearly aimed at me which is just awful. They’ve now lost a loyal customer :) shame on you

We had a takeaway from here whilst on holiday in the village and the service was exceptional.They were very good on the phone when we ordered and also when we turned up to pick it up. We also asked if we could buy a bottle of soy sauce and they said they didn’t sell it but they gave us some for free.The vegetarian meal I had was really good however my wife had a chicken dish and she didn’t like the taste or the texture of the chicken.

Had a couple of meals from here while staying in oulton broad everything was great service food and delivery well worth the money XX beautiful food would totally recomend

Had crispy shredded beef which was not crispy at all, the fried rice was very bland. My partner had ribs with chips, the ribs were lovely but the chips were very soggy. So ok it’s only £4 for a box but when u throw more than half away.... not good value, will stick with lounge India in future sorry

Ordered a chefs banquet f....along with some hot and sour soup which was pretty tasteless and definitely not sour.The plum sauce was missing so the crispy duck was a total let down and dry through lack of the sauce. Beef in black Bean sauce also flavourless. Kong po chicken was ok as was the rice.Really disappointed would rather have had less quantity and more quality.Doubt will be trying again.

Good value if you order one of the set menu deals. Otherwise, this seems a little pricey, although portions are very generous to compensate. Food is good, although disappointed that sauce did not cover all of my dish (shredded beef) - a bit pedantic I know, but would have made a difference.

Ordered from here while on a boating holiday and was very impressed. Very fresh and tasty and very fast.

Try this Chinese takeaway, best in Oulton Broads, large portions, good prices, lovely noodle dishes and service with a smile, oh and they deliver too

Great choice on the menu and well priced. Never had to wait long for order to be delivered. I highly recommend the chicken and prawn toasts.....they are huge!

I order from here all the time the food is amazing and the delivery times are fast and the staff are brilliant and helpful.also would like to add they have a great selection for vegetarians and vegans.

This is our go to Chinese takeaway, and have never had a reason to complain, easy to order from their online ordering system and all orders have been correct. Food is delicious especially the chicken satay accompanied by the Singapore Rice. Top notch grub.

The magic wok used to be the bench mark for good Chinese takeaway food around lowestoft in my humble opinion , consistently good food every time , the last few times we have eaten from here we have noticed a big drop in quality! Some of the sauces are watered down and the taste has become a little bland ! Loyalty has kept us here for longer than we should, off to try new pastures ! Sorry but something has changed !! .

Pedimos medio pato crujiente, carne de cerdo satay, Szechuan, fideos y arroz. Debería haber ido de pato como barrio a sólo 2 de nosotros! No era el mejor pato, un poco demasiado crujientes, casi quemados. Resto delicioso, 33 £, pagos en efectivo solamente. Para llevar a mano para alojarse en nuestro barco cerca.

Los dos estaban muy hambrientos. Pedí un plato principal luego al barco. No podía gestionar todos principal así que tenía para el desayuno - un antiguo hábito náutico. Las costillas son enormes y la licitación, pero es todo tan bueno, y muy razonable. El servidor es tan alegre y servicial también

Para llevar este excelente no comida china. Todos los platos que hemos tenido han sido buenas. También hacen comidas para llevar que son ideales si quieres una buena comida de valor que puede sentarse en el parque y comer. Las cajas hasta 3 libras en el momento en algunos días así que realmente excelente relación calidad-precio.

Very disappointed with tonight's takeaway, burnt dry chips, dry hard as rock salt and pepper chicken, Singapore rice nice, Back to Royal Dragon

This take away is slowly going down hill, I have had a few bad meals from here but I decided to give it a second chance. I ordered the shredded chilli beef and it was disgusting and overpriced. Defiantly will not be returning to this place.

While staying on Oulton broad we went up to get a take away.. Awesome chicken balls and curry.. Will definitely be calling in again when we come back...

We were staying in Oulton at a b and b when we fancied a takeaway.we ordered over the phone & it was delivered in 30minutes. The food was hot, tasty & delicious. If anything we ordered too much. The King prawns in fruity sauce were the biggest & best we've ever tasted.

Sampled quite a bit of their menu on a recent trip to the broads. All of it was fantastic. Happily recommend this restaurant.

On holiday in Oulton Broad recently, we decided to try the local Chinese takeaway and were not disappointed. We ordered the food on the phone and it was delivered very fast. Great quality, freshly cooked and hot! Enjoyed it so much we ordered again on our last night there and have to say, it was amazing! Highly recommend. Thank you Magic Wok.

On here it says magic wok is closed however the website says that they are open on bank holiday Mondays, I ordered online as it says and it said my order has been sent to the kitchen. However an hour and a half later and 20 phonecalls to the place we still have nothing.Not happy about this, the website should be clearer.

Such good service from this take away. Always so much quicker than they tell you as well. I ordered at 7:15pm was quoted around half hour for delivery. It was with me in under 15mins!! The food is gorgeous and always tasty. There is a Chinese opposite our house but we choose to use magic wok which means we would need delivery. Purely because it is so much better. Will order again for sure!!

We have been using this takeaway for a few months, and to start with the food was was some of the best in the area. However, we have had three deliveries since Christmas, and the food is getting worse. The Chicken curry has the worst, and most heavily saturated with what i presume to be MSG, meat ever. It was slimy and spongy, but did not resemble chicken at all. Also, on the price list, it says free prawn crackers with a certain spend, but it hasn't happened yet.As they recognise your telephone number and address when calling, i wonder if the standard starts to drop with complacency, as they know you will keep coming back; but we wont now!

This was a fantastic find !! I visit this area a lot and stumbled across this place by chance ,its the best Chinese takeaway i've ever had !! What a GEM! Delivery is also great ..fast ..on time and food still hot .HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!

Ordered prawn crackers ( these were stale) chicken chow mein ( hardly any chicken and tasted burnt ) sweet n sour balls (these were ok) was looking forward to a Chinese all day but feel massively let down and it's put me right off! Also the delivery man was miserable!

Our favourite Chinese in lowestof by far and we've tried almost all of them. Speedy service, delicious food and I love how you can watch them cook your dishes. There only downside is that they don't have a restraunt. My weekly delivery every Friday never disappoints and the drivers are always polite and friendly

Fancied a Chinese takeaway last night, and was in need of a new place as my normal one had closed. Magic Wok looked ok from the outside so called in and ordered some food. Well, no complaints from either me or my wife as the food was of a high standard and plenty of it. Will certainly use the Magic Wok again.

I've used this Chinese numerous times and always had great food. We had a few slow deliveries, so always go and collect now. Other than the delivery issues and the odd trouble getting through on the phone at the weekend it's grand.

Reminded me why I am not enthusiastic about the UK version of Chinese food.Well cooked, generous portions, good value but not especially interesting.

Enjoyed our meal, portions not over generous, struggled to get staff to understand our order. More expensive than other chineses but no better quality.

Have been going to magic wok for about a year now. Would never go to any other. Food is always hot whether we collect or get it delivered. Food is to the best standard and is always amazing! We always speak to the guys in the shop when collecting and are always so friendly. Not found a Chinese like this. Would 100% recommend. Thank you magic wok!

We used to use magic wok every week, then we had a couple of bad ones so we started using other ones. After a couple of years we decided to give it a go today and give it the benefit of the doubt.Absolutely horrible!!!Box meal chicken & mushroom was like mush.Chips were so soggy and cold, prawn toast was dripping in fat, crispy chilli beef with no sauce, to sum the whole experience up the sharing starter came in a box with a puddle of grease in the bottom and everything was cold. The only part of our meal which was warm was the can of coke what they wedged in the middle of our food!Such a let down after the place used to be so nice.The only thing which was good the delivery was on time. Will never use them again.

Delivery is quick, portion sizes are huge, staff are friendly and polite.There is plenty of choice on the menu and you get to see the food being cooked which is not the case in a lot of Chinese takeaways.By far the best Chinese Takeaway in Lowestoft.

They catered for 70 guests for our 30th Wedding anniversary. We ordered earlier a pre ordered selection meal with several choices and they delivered it to our venue. it was tasty, hot and on time, good service friendly. one of the best Chinese take aways in Lowestoft

Value for money for a takeaway Chinese meal, accommodating in varying the set meals a little as I don't like all the options in them and like to change an item or two, haven't had the delivery service as I prefer to collect

We tried a takeaway from here while on holiday recently. Service was polite and very quick but unfortunately the food was not great. Teriyaki beef was nothing special but OK, but the sweet and sour chicken balls were horrid. Processed chicken and a really bright red sauce that simply tasted like nothing I've ever experienced! I can't believe that anyone would ever choose sweet and sour for a second time from here. Even the chips ended up in the bin, they tasted like they'd been cooked a while ago and been reheated. The only good thing was that it was quite cheap so we didn't waste much money!

We always make a beeline for Oulton Broad when we hire a boat on the broads, just for this place. A tiny takeaway that serves the nicest Chinese food i've ever eaten. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
