Best Chinese takeaway ever ! Food is delicious, staff are very nice. I loved the duck plum Sauce, beef black bean dish and chicken ginger and spring onion so yummy . Definitely recommend and come back .

Not very impressed, not very full of flavour at all. Rice was cold, sweet & sour very gelatinous. No taste, & I think the prices have increased slightly but I guess that is to be expected.

Chips were hard and dry and tasted different. Chicken chow mein had a very strange flavour ,chicken didn't taste like chicken. Gravy had no taste at all. I left almost all my meal. The sweet and sour dish had very little sauce . Far too many hard carrots.

Been there many time seen is change of ownership. Very delicious and fast delivery. Food is wonderful, I love the salt & pepper king prawn and the beef dishes so yummy. Perfect. Lovely and friendly staff.

Last two meals since change of ownership haven't been great. Trying a different takeaway if having another Chinese meal.

I use Pearl River regularly and have never had a bad meal. Portions are a good size and very tasty, they are happy to cater for slight changes, always hot, quick delivery and I would certainly recommend them.

I have meal from here every weeks ,very delicious curry dishes, very tasty salt and pepper dishes and I love there crispy chilli beef and chicken . Definitely recommend it , the staff they are very nice and friendly as well .

I have used numerous times and like the curried dishes, last time I only remembered to ask for the first tub with no onions but all came with them anyway. Not even a little, giant chunks of onion to half fill the tubs, I had to put them in the bin and reorder and pay again. Lovely service most of the time but last time has put me off ordering from them again.

Great food! We used another restaurant in Beccles for years but tried Pearl River a few months back when it was taken over and we cannot fault it, we have been back ever since!

Had a takeaway from here and found it quite pleasant. This is the 2nd time I have had a nice meal from here. We had King Prawn Curry , Singapore noodles, salt and pepper squid ad seet and sour King prawn balls that were huge. All very tasty.

Very good as always love the food I specially love the free spicy spring rolls they where delishous I'll be buying them next time I order thank you for them

Thought we would try Pearl River Beccles tonight as we had not tried it since it changed hands. To be honest if I could give it 0 stars I would!! Everything was cold, the scampi was 'formed' and was expensive for what we got. Definitely won't be going back in a hurry which is a shame because it was good, hot and reasonably priced for what you got before it changed hands.

Absolutely disgusting paid for a Pearl's special chow mein and got a pot of noodles and dried up meat tastes absolutely awful have used pearl river for many years but never again I am worried that we are going to be ill all weekend. Sweet and sour sauce watery and the pancake roll tasted sour. So disappointed I wouldn't recommend anyone ordering from here as you will be wasting your money.

Grim. Never used Pearl River before and never will again. Worst Chinese takeaway I've ever had. Mostly bland and tasteless. Also ordered crispy chilli beef which was not crispy or chilli. The small portion of beef was really fatty. For me, inedible. Should have taken it back.

Just arrived in Beccles on a trip and wanted a Chinese meal that would be delivered. Pearl River delivered as promised and I enjoyed a tasty meal. Good quality, lots of tender chicken in the dish, just right, not at all dry.

Love the takeway while in beccles.plus not many Chinese restaurant serve Mongolian lamb ..try it it's yum

Worst Chinese I have ever had!! Chicken was dry, sweet & sour sauce tastes like ketchup, wrong food given, over priced, wonton’s were very oddly made.

We ordered a great lockdiwn Chinese and ordered again tonight. The weather is appalling and cane quickly as promised and a great Chinese that was still hot. Not many places deliver to us in the sticks so very grateful for a night off.

I never leave reviews but I had to for this one! My family and I decided to treat ourselves to a Chinese takeaway last weekend. So much good stuff to say. We have never tried Pearl River but we will definitely be heading back! It was by far the best Chinese we have ever had. Curry chicken was full of big chunks of chicken and the kids loved it. Capital ribs were delicious, so meaty, and tasted so soft and were bursting with flavour. Their sesame prawn toast and seaweed was just perfect full of flavour, and it looked great too. Rice, and chow mein we ordered were full of meat, and the portions were very large and more than enough for the four of us. Their chips we ordered were packed full, enough for feed a family. We even had left overs for the next day. The young girl was helpful, and very friendly. Also hand sanitiser was ready on the side for us to use before we collected our order and it came in a large box which is great for the environment and stopped our food from leaking as she knew we had to walk home- very thoughtful. 100% would recommend. Cannot fault them. Very pleased. Wishing them all the best for the future.

The choice of starters was really limited. The mini spring rolls were fried until they completely shattered in one bite. The ribs sweet n sour sauce tasted like tomato ketchup and the ribs were bright yellow as if they were just fat. The main courses were served in those small portion boxes that the rice comes in all the dishes were horrible. The beef was very chewy and the chicken was like rubber and some pieces were pink and not cooked. £50 for a take away I don't know how they are still in business. They had a sign up saying only 2 people in the shop at once but they didn't enforce it and they only accept cash. I didn't see any hand sanitizer either. The take away was supplied in a dirty used box that had obviously previously been used for another purpose. I'm sorry I can't think of one single good thing to say about it

Absolutely disgusting meal. My husband just had chicken maryland and he couldn't even cut through it. If I could have contacted and shown them the meal I would have before sharing this. This place was one of our favourite eating spots but never again.

The truth is I haven't really a clue what dishes we've all eaten!!! However, it was all tasty but was pretty indistinguishable as to what it was! We ordered chow mein, but not a noodle in sight... in any dish! Satay chicken.... that was kinda curryish... pork and chicken rice with sweet and sour balls... erm no order of beef and yet we got some kind of beef in a kind of sauce?????! And the sweet and sour sauce was essentially sweet ketchup! Well... We all ate our fill yet have no idea what it was!!! LOL

Food is not the best but not the worst I've had, unfortunately one order will be enough to never order again simply due to the pricing this Chinese is the high end of the price scale for their food, so on price point alone, I'll be going elsewhere.

After reading the reviews it looked promising friendly staff and food arrive quickly. Really looking forward to our food only to be sadly disappointed. Not sure what meat was but was meant to chicken. Really not nice. Everything tasted the same. Like I said disappointed.

Visited here purely because our usual favourite wasn’t open....wish we hadn’t!Beef curry - meat rubbery and a congealed and gloopy sauce, chicken balls - thick stodgy batter, sweet and sour sauce - tasted just like thick over vinegared tomato ketchup, chowmein - greasy and tasteless. Most went in bin, total waste of money and bordering on disgusting. Avoid!

Never been let down, recurved our meal piping hot. Ordered chilli beef, spicy ribs, Singapore chow mein and a lot of other bits and pieces. Chilli beef amazing. Everything was full of taste, and we have so much left over. Service 10/10, and they are so helpful on the phone. BEST RIBS IN THE COUNTRY 100% recommend

Not a good experience. Two out of the three meals ordered was incorrect, I ended up with chicken not beef which had a rubbery texture. The black bean sauce was very salty also. Sad because we had been looking forward to the meal. We usually use the Pagoda but they let us down too!! They left me hanging on the phone waiting to place an order! I would recommend Dominos- can't go wrong with pizza lol!!

We get a take-away from here about once a month as a treat and the food is always nice. You get a lot of food for your money and for less then £20 me and my husband have loads between us! If we have it delivered, it always arrives quickly and hot. This is our favourite Chinese in Beccles.

we tried Pearl river as others were closed and we were not disappointed we had a great meal food for five plus a little one (3 year old) order was nearly ready on time five mins all food put in a box for us to carry out and home food was really hot and there was a lot of it too .

Couldn't fault the delivery ..couldn't fault the warmth of the food. taste was excellent, we all had something different so we were all pleased. and those salted chips are just lush..thank you for a most delightful supper.. :) xx.

Whilst on holiday in Suffolk, we were contemplating what to have to eat on our last evening before returning home. Chinese was the vote and so I made my way the 4 miles to Beccles to the Pearl river takeaway.

Ordered a big meal last night to celebrate A level results for my son. All enjoyed our meal so much to go around and nothing disappointed us. All portions were very generous and the meats and prawns were everywhere to been seen (not like other Chinese take aways where you don't get much meat or prawns) highly recommend trying their ribs. Capital ribs are the best we've tried big meaty ribs in a delightful sauce. Staff very pleasant and helpful and patient with me as I was struggling to find everything I wanted. Overall I'll definitely be coming back soon, kids loved it too. Been reccomend to try this take away and I'm glad I did. 5* but I wish I could rate higher!

Really meaty ribs the best in beccles by far. Chicken balls good and meaty not too much batter which I like. Also got salt and pepper chips which was actually quite good can't wait to order again!

Came here few days ago with friends from Southwold. Amazing ribs best ribs I have ever tried I don't get to come here often but when I do I make sure I get them from Pearl River. Big portions enough to feed a family they do not hold back. Must also say, as recommended from a friend their curry is spectacular with onions peas and a spicy thick curry not like watery ones at the others. Fill the portions with lots of meat and prawns I definitely get my money's worth. Whole family loves it here and is a special treat when we order. Pleasant meal as always. Should definitely give this one a try.

Visitado por años! En esos 18 años nunca he sido decepcionado. No sé si es cambiado de manos o un nuevo chef, pero fue horrible. Realmente no me gusta el curry picante, pero no tenía ningún sabor, ni especias y ni siquiera unos guisantes. Sólo pollo y cebolla en salsa de líquidos. Arroz frito especial tenía dos langostinos y eran diminutos. Ribbs literalmente no carne y las patatas fritas estaban secas y duras. En realidad, yo pedí a mi otra mitad donde compró, ya que estaba seguro de que no podía ser desde el río Pearl pero era! No sé si fue un mal día, nunca mala comida allí antes, pero era tan malo que no creo que me hubiera riesgo de desperdiciar mi dinero les da otra oportunidad.

Has this changed hands? Been going there for years. Never had any complaints but all our food on 7/7/17 was horrible. Nothing like previous visits. My curry was bland, I don't like hot curry but there was no spice and no flavour just chunks of onion and chicken in runny sauce.The chips were hard and over cooked. Special friend rice had two tiny prawns and a few bits of chicken. The ribs literally had a mouthful of meat if that. Previous I would have given 4 stars but not now. After all these years I doubt we will go back

Lovely food always hot and tasty, very friendly owners, absolutely lovely, good prices, other chinese takeaways in beccles have always been awful with meat being chewy, and swimming in fat, but pearl river is delicious and cooked to perfection.

Only giving this place 1 star as the site does not allow a lesser score. Our main courses were meant to be Pearls Special Rice & Crispy Chicken with Hoi Chin Sauce (see photo). Both dishes were full of gross lumps of meat that had obviously been hastily defrosted. Can't tell you what it tasted like as we just dumped it all. Made us feel physically sick when we opened the containers.This is by far the worst Chinese takeaway I have ever experienced. DO NOT GET YOUR CHINESE TAKEAWAY FROM PEARL RIVER.

The chicken balls were dry and tasteless. The sweet and sour sauce was gloopy and not the colour it was expected! The egg fried rice was dry, hard and bland. The only thing that made this terrible meal edible was the chips.Next time I'll be going elsewhere.

Food delivered was cold ,sauce was gloopy and probably from a jar .this used to be my Chinese takeaway of choice but I won't be going back .It was also overpriced for what it was .I could get a much fresher ,tastier meal from Marks and Spencer's for £10 !!!

I dont get take-aways too often in Beccles, but when i do - THIS is THE place to visit.Fabulous array of flavours / dishes / styles and the family go out of their way to help the customer in any way they can.You can always rely on great food here.........

Tried this for the first time and it was so vile we chucked it away and went and bought sausage and chips. The crispy beef is chewy and inedible definetly the worst I have ever had anywhere even the rice tastes horrible. Definetly will not use again. Stick to good fortune just around the corner the food actually has nice flavour and the crispy beef is the best.

We really fancied a Chinese meal and we had a birthday celebration in mind so after reading all reviews and looking through the windows and reading the menus of all of the Asian restaurants we strode into pearl river where we asked for particular favourites we were guided into dishes that were similar and so we followed their recommendations.six persons , nine dishes ordered not counting crackers and seaweed , ten minutes later the lady chef arrived with a beaming smile and her best wishes for a good meal and even the corners of the dishes were cut off as we requested so that the steam could escape ! we walked through the centre of the town carrying our box as a trophy , wonderful aromas following us , truly delicious dinner , fresh food and cooked by a lady who clearly knows what she is doing , we even telephoned our thanks .

We were super hungry after a long day of work and needed a big food hit. Not looking for much quality-- just a mountain of food. After going in 3 other take-aways that didn't accept card we went to Pearl River. The female owner was absolutely lovely and was extremely patient as we looked through the endless menu!The food: O.K. but far from excellent, as far as take out food is concerned, seemingly made out of a jar. But really, what can you expect?Price wise: standard Chinese. Recommend?: I would neither encourage or discourage people from using this takeaway. Its there, its a Chinese.

Looking for a takeaway on a Saturday night and found Pearl River, the number of cars outside made a good impression.Ordered salt & chilli ribs and Singapore noodles, we were very disappointed, the ribs were bland, nothing like the ribs we get from our local Chinese, the noodles were quite wet and the main taste was Chinese five spice, again nothing like any Singapore noodles we've had anywhere else.Threw the takeaway menu away after eating as we know we'll never go back.

Popped in last night for a quick take away. All we ordered was singapore noodle, prawn balls and chips (yes I know, classy)Firstly, the chips were amazing. But I judge a Chinese restaurant on how they make a singapore noodle. And these guys failed...... miserably. It was horrible. Stale old meats, that have obviously sat around for ages, thin oily noodles. And the prawn balls were the same story. Obviously pre cooked (i know this is a fact, to save cooking times) but these were precooked last week by the taste of things. Oily stale and hideous. Waste of £15. Don't eat there if you have any sense.

We were staying in holiday cottage and chose this restaurant to have a takeaway delivered from. There was nothing seriously wrong with any of it but the chicken balls were a bit stodgy, some of the dishes a bit bland and the crispy beef wasn't crispy. However the spare ribs were very meaty and nice and the kids thought the duck and pancakes was as good as they have had anywhere. All in all, friendly person took our phone over the order, delivered on time and it was OK. Not great and not awful. If we ordered another Chinese we would probably try an alternative takeaway.
