The best restaurants serving Chinese food in East of England

Lovely and so tasty we had Singapore chow mein plain chow mein chicken in black bean n chilli absolutely wonderful. Also the large spring rolls are the best weve had.Cash only quick to collect no problems

This restaurant owner needs to seriously think about how they treat their customers. It was 12.30pm when we started walking through the door. He immediately said to us you will need to leave at 2pm. Not a hello or how many of you. Just that. Put our back up to start. We had two babies in highchair. One is 1 and the other is 2. The waiter was extremely apologetic and said he was very sorry but he was told to tell us the babies would need to pay full price for an adult meal. No child meals available. They probably ate 6 chips between them. We was charged £15 for one portion of chicken balls and one chips. Which they didn’t eat. Then the waiter again apologised and pointed out on the menu a compulsory 10 percent service charge. We pointed out that it’s illegal to make a service charge compulsory but was told we had to pay it. There was no disabled toilet. There was a huge staircase to the toilets. Totally unsuitable for disabled or elderly people who can’t do stairs. On the positive side the food was very good. However due to the rude owner and the service charge we won’t be returning. They had no kids menu or kids drinks. To charge for 2 babies was disgraceful and they should be ashamed. Our bill for 4 adults for lunch was £144. Beware.

The food was nice however the staff are so so grumpy , they made us feel like we were an inconvenience. We asked for a group photo which takes seconds to be told they were too busy , fine , ok… but it seemed very rude, the way we were told. We then felt that despite the restaurant closing at 10.45pm, as we were the last table we were being watched , we felt so awkward we ended up just asking for the bill and leaving . To top it off the food that was left on the table , we asked if we could take it home. They said no. So the left over food would have gone in the bin! What an absolute waste and we had also paid for it. Food wastage in my opinion is not acceptable of customers would liken to take it home and after all it could not be used again as was on our table ! Really terrible service from which would see me not return.

Great food great service although a buffet everything is bought to the table and us very fresh and hot. The staff especially Frances are very helpful. Visited twice in 8 days and. Annoy fault anything

So happy with food but the young guy that delivered brought back the £10 overpayment . How fabulous and unusual that is today. Food fab and service 💯

Ordered takeaway a couple times from here and have tried some other Chinese takeaway in the area. Feel that the food here overall tastes better. I really rate the salt and pepper squid , and the beef with ginger and spring onions. Definitely will be ordering from here again.

Another brilliant meal at the Golden Panda staff are fantastic, very attentive. Katie and James are an asset. Jimmy, the owner, came to check our meal was OK very friendly. Food was tasty and excellent value for money. You can ask for half portions to try out different items from the menu. All staff knowledgeable on menu and advised differant items I hadn't tried before will be back soon

This was a take away looked at the menu on line which isn't a reflection of the prices at all our bill was 12 pound more on 4 dishes then the food was predicted 40 minutes but came in 14 minutes can't possibly have been cooked fresh too scared to eat it

The food is always good here plus their curry sauce is a little bit more spicy than the usual Chinese curry sauces .

Nice food had the set menu for £19. The waiter let me swap options I didn't like for an alternative. I have been coming here for 23 years where it used to be all you could eat, however, I think the owners would have been better putting up the all you can eat price or adding supplements for more expensive items eg. duck. The reason is that it seems a lot quieter than it used to be and am worried their business may suffer as locals will not like this change. Love Red Leaf, great food & service

We travel 8 miles to collect as the Chinese restaurants in the town where we live are poor. Peach Bower provide large portions and are generous with the meat and prawns which are good quality. I had the king prawn Kung po, the prawns were huge and plenty of them. I was impressed. Worth the money and the journey ! Will definitely come here all the time now. Highly recommended. Thank you and so glad we have found a good restaurant.

Got an order last night and the chicken balls were still pink in the middle

as someone who’s goal is to try all Chinese takeaway’s in Colchester, this is the second best takeaway i’ve eaten at. The chef if very nice and the young man who took my order was very mature and polite.

If you want good food, a good atmosphere, and to be treated like a customer, then get in the car and go somewhere else. This place is a throwback from the 70’s, with rude staff, poor facilitates, and dated look altogether. The only people that ever go here are the “natives”, and that’s because fly never strays too far from the turd
