Tins Super Kitchen Chinese Take-Away in Colchester

Really lovely place. I made an unfortunate accident and ordered from the wrong place which was in a different part of Colchester, but the staff were really kind and just put my order through again and cancelled the other one. Delicious food and just all round great service.

as someone who’s goal is to try all Chinese takeaway’s in Colchester, this is the second best takeaway i’ve eaten at. The chef if very nice and the young man who took my order was very mature and polite.

We’ve been going to Tins for our family Chinese for over 10 years. The chef always cleans the prawns for us and the crispy chilli beef is excellent. Consistently good food.

So I ordered leave it to us dinner for 2 people I was charged £41.50 absolute disaster The food was so so bland & watery duck was dry everything seemed to have ginger the prawn tasted almost like washing up liquid I then called to complain I asked who I was talking to and got told I was speaking to the chef and owner This man was extremely rude to myself and partner I asked politely if we could have a refund and collect the food as we literally didn't touch most of it after 1 taste he not only refused he actually blamed ourselves for not knowing his food/restaurant this is honestly the worst food I have ever had will never order again and will be complaining to the food standard agency It's that bad my partner is now going on Facebook Instagram twitter everywhere to leave reviews on how awful the experience was and how rude the owner who is also the chef and is also the very same person we tried to complain to but got nothing but rude answers back real disappointed The food is sitting in my kitchen untouched destination for the bin as this man refuses to collect and refund BEWARE

Awful food awful service ,had four dishes, two that tasted of water one of washing up liquid and the other bone dry(duck????) Even the prawn crackers somehow tasted bad ,hands down the worst Chinese we have ever had

We have been fairly regular customers for years and have always been impressed with the food but last night the 29th December Tins excelled themselves-it was truly outstanding-would highly recommend Peter of Leavenheath

Just moved to Colchester.... First take away and I have to say I won't he back. I literally had more flavoir in my mouth before I had my first mouthful.... Didn't think that was even possible. Possibly the least flavoured Chinese IV had in my life .

80 tins, it’s like we’ve just discovered cooked rice. A few beers in and on the way home I’d think I’d eat even an unlucky friended kitten. Although my mums Vesta curries would teach them something about flavour. Large special bland rice, for me and zero f given on quality and quantity, get your 79 year old mum to cook would be better. I should drink whiskey before attempting

Friendly staff, reasonable priced, was thinking all the boxes ticked until I ate the food itself. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't great either. Just about edible. Food just had no taste at all, chicken balls were very plain, I had to add salt to them to make them some what enjoyable. The curry sauce was OK, spicy but not much taste either.

Got a meal for one and a chow main, was not nice. Will not be going again. Alot of batter on chicken balls, should be called batter balls with hint'o chicken

We have been having a take away from Tins about once a month, for the last couple of years and they always impress with their quality and punctuality. Prior to COVID we usually joined up with friends in our village to enjoy a great meal. Great value too!

I have always loved this place even though I have to travel such a distance to order from here. Never regret it and will always order when I want to treat myself.

We were served promptly and we got exactly what we ordered. The food was really good and the meat was obviously quality, I'm not sure what the other reviews were saying, the meat is not oily - it is delicious. I would definitely recommend to all. Keep up the good work!

I love Mauritius chinese foods. It more tasty than ordinary Chinese take away. Especially I love lamb dishes. I really recommend it.

After doing a dayshift I went to this Chinese takeaway and brought myself Sweet-and-sour chicken in batter, When I got home I open the packet and started to eat not realising the sweet-and-sour sauce was watery and it was disgusting however I was very shocked that the chicken in butter four pieces of chicken was raw This was unbelievable I had to throw the whole lot away and it also did not taste normal it had a strange taste to it I was not happy with the service and I don’t think I would ever go there again to buy food. I can also inform you all that the staff there is not very friendly it’s very disappointed and I think they need more customer care training.

It was awful it was cold chicken wasn't white it was brown and the chicken were all stodge and not cooked properly wnt go there again.

Don’t waste your money going here like I just did . It was terrible when I went a a year ago I said I would never return . Greasy tasteless Chinese if you could call it that . Go elsewhere if you don’t want to waste your money . Never returning again even if it is local .

Great food after a night out in the local pub

Used another place for a number of years after a few less-than-perfect meals here, but having recently revisited it was very good and good value.

Nice takeaway with usual menu choices as well as a few specials set out at the premises. Parking nearby can be tricky at time.

Always good especially when you visit regularly as we do and have worked your way round the menu. The dishes with batter are just a bit doughy without that it would be 5 stars. The special prawns with 5 spice and chilli is to die for. The beef chow me in is the best we've ever had.

First time I’ve tried this Chinese & have to say, I have no complaints - the meat in my chop suey was cooked really nicely, the food was not greasy unlike some. The whole meal was a delicious treat! The fortune cookie 🥠 was a nice touch too 😊

We were holidaying on a farm in Nayland and decided to order a Chinese meal. We didn't have a menu but we found Tin's on google and they were happy to help with our phone order and delivered our food promptly for a very reasonable charge. Excellent and efficient service.

Great food been going here for years

As always the order was wrong!! Fed up of paying for things I don't receive!! A mouth full of fat every time I eat any of there meat!! This place just gets worse and nothing ever changes.

Rice missing from order discovered after getting home

Staff are nice but a little concerning to see them wearing outdoor clothes in the kitchen. Not sure if its legal for a child to be taking orders, but I assume he is part of the family and he was really good at it. Food wise i was a little disappointed in the chow mein, to many onions and bits of gristle from the chicken knuckle, I suppose the bonus is that it came from a real chicken. Sweet and Sour balls were OK but the large pancake rolls lacked flavour and mainly consisted of been sprouts, more meat and prawns please. I found the portion size of the chow mein quite small. Overall a little disappointing.

Tin's is a takeaway at which I have eaten from for a good few years and never been disappointed. The price is fair for what you get, the menu is long so plenty to choose from. Fine dining it isn't, but I have no problem picking up the occasional takeaway from Tin's.

BEST CHINESE AROUND, NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT!!!!! The food was perfect, best quality possible. The price is very cheap, and their workers are polite. Delivery time is quick, around an hour time. Would definitely recommend to everyone, even people who hate Chinese food!

Have eaten here on a few occasions as its very close to where I work I normally order T, 1 which is a meal for one which consists of beef curry and sweet and sour chicken with rice The meal is also reasonably priced which is also an added bonus

Having just moved to the area, we wanted to try out the local Chinese and it was not good. As veges, there was no tofu on the menu which is always disappointing so we opted for a couple of noodles dishes, rice and veggie sides. The food was bland, greasy and all tasted the same. Their sister takeaway off Mersea road is the best in colchester by far, so what a shame it wasn’t nice! We only order from Tins Willow Gardens now!!

Always get the set meal after my late shift. Food is ok, maybe not the best in Colchester but definitely tasty and does the job! Fast service, friendly staff.

I have regularly been getting food here for years and have always been happy. I have recommended it to friends who have always been impressed with the food. The pricing is excellent given the portion size and content. The menu has the standard items you'd expect for a takeaway but the specials have a couple of surprises eg. S3 Hot and Sour King Prawns - I have never found this dish anywhere else and it's delicious. Delivery within 5miles is good - usually between 20 and 40mins. Another reviewer commented on the food being greasy - in my experience the food has been a little greasy a couple of times but these are exceptions. In brief - Good portions, good pricing, great taste. I love this place.

Had been keen to give Tin's ago having seen it regularly quite busy when walking past. Food was served hot and portion sizes were good, however it was rather greasy and nothing to write home about. Distinctly average - perhaps we ordered on a bad day!

Their food quality is really good. great pricing and fantastic chicken wings. Also very quick time around with food service. I have been having this with Tin's for the last 3 years and have not been anywhere else in Colchester for Chinese!

We have been ordering from tins for the last 16 years and never been disappointed. The food arrives promptly and is delicious. When our children were babies the delivery man always knocked on the door gently so as not to disturb the baby. Very thoughtful.

Visited two weeks ago. Service was friendly and quick. My meal was delicious. They do specials board, and meal menus for one at around £6.00, great value. I will certainly call in when I'm next in Colchester and readily recommend to my friends.

By far the worst Chinese we've ever experiences. Chicken soggy and sloppy, Felt like dough wasn't even cooked. Very bland chow mein, sweet and sour sauce tasted like it had no sweet. Black bean sauce was so salty with no kick. Awful, I never review but that was by far a waste of money. Shameful.

Food was completely inedible and ended up in the bin after one mouthful... vile! A complete waste of money.

Waited an hour for delivery. Arrived cold, looked unpleasant, tastes worse. Binned my dinner. Hungry and fed up .

Excelente para un mien la comida en el camino a casa pide guindillas extra para añadir ese resplandor. He ordenado desde aquí muchas veces y ha sido buena. Incluso conseguir una galleta de la fortuna.

I'm not too sure that seeing the kitchen is a good thing! It looks efficient enough but they do start cooking your order once your there. So not too sure why you should order by phone and have to stand there to get lightly showered in grease whilst you wait. The food is ok and there is a decent choice.

Superb food! Every tie we've had a tae-away from Tins, it has been excellent quality and delicious. Everything tastes fresh, is non-greasy and comes in good sized portions. Just what you need after a hard day in the garden!! Highly recommended.

We have been coming here for years. All dishes are fab but the beef curry is extra hot with yummy onions. Recommend chicken with black bean sauce in specials section too. Enjoy!

Love Tin's. We always use this Chinese when ordering takeaway, some places are dry and horrible but Tin's is always yummy. Lovely staff and quick service, delivery time is ok much the same as any other takeaway delivery, usually around 30/40 mins.

Always used this Chinese in the past but had a rather cold meal about a month ago and decided to give them another chance. I mentioned my not so hot meal when I ordered. Didn't receive a sorry or anything and meal was cold again so will never order from there again!!!

There is always something interesting on the specials menu, last time we visited the chef was showing us photos on his phone of trialled dishes! The spicy 3 meat udon noodles are my favourite so far but if you ever see the lamb and aubergine curry, try it!

Tins is the best. ENOUGH SAID. there is a reason they usually have a queue a mile long and that is because they are the best chinese takeaway there has ever been. Get chilli beef, lemon chiken, prawn chow mein and chips, you will thank me later

I have tried many Chinese takeaways in the area and this has got to be the very worst. Very very greasy and full of gristle (I was genuinely physically sick!!). Do yourself a big favour and go elsewhere. All this guys takeaways are very bad indeed, especially the one at the willows in Colchester.
