The best restaurants serving Chinese food in England

Decided to sample a good portion of popular items from the menu: Salt and Chilli Chips, Chicken and Ribs, Duck in Black Pepper Sauce, Hot and Sour Soup, Chow Mein, Egg Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Sauce and some free Vegetable Spring Rolls thrown in. Salt and Chilli flavour wasn't necessarily what I was used to from other takeaways, however was fairly flavourful especially on the ribs, which were enjoyable. The quality of the chicken pieces seemed poor - they were fairly dry to the point that even the Sweet and Sour sauce couldn't save them. Chow Mein noodles were a little too soft but otherwise what you would expect. Hot and Sour Soup tasted like Sweet and Sour sauce I missed the other flavours I would usually associate with this soup, no vinegar or umami notes made it through the sweetness. While not unpleasant, the soup lacked depth. Black Pepper sauce flavours were strong, punchy pepper balanced with a slight sweetness, a spot-on consistency and selection of vegetables, I especially enjoyed the inclusion of water chestnut and mushroom for added texture. This was paired with a well-seasoned Egg Fried Rice. Overall, not a bad Chinese takeaway, but there are better options five minutes up the road in Cheadle.

Como inglés con una inclinación por la auténtica cocina china, recientemente visité China Delight en Sheffield y me quedé completamente impresionado. Los Singapore Vermicelli Noodles destacaron con su nivel de especias perfecto y patada de chile fresco. Las porciones eran generosas, y la comida llegó caliente, por lo que es ideal para compartir. El servicio fue rápido y cortés, y el amplio aparcamiento se sumó a la comodidad. Ya sea cenando solo o en familia, China Delight ofrece una experiencia de comida para llevar consistentemente satisfactoria que recomiendo encarecidamente.

Gotten really expensive, for what you get..

Top One is a nice little Chinese takeaway which offers delicious authentic Chinese food. There is a vast selection on their menu which tastes great. Prices are really reasonable too. The lady behind the counter is really friendly and has a smile which makes you feel welcome. The set dinner menus are great for a quick and satisfying way to order if you want a mixed selection.

Way too salty on the curries but the duck was nice, easy on the salt guys to us it was inedible.

No satay sauce, black bean sauce bland. Actually the whole meal was fairly bland! Used to be much nicer.

Singapore rice noodles, out of Singapore one of the best I’ve had not the usual greasy mess you usually end up with. Will be using again soon hopefully just as good.

Great price for what i got. Prefer my Chinese but that's just preference. Food was pretty good and service was great 👍

Ordered a takeaway we regularly use them but today service was less than satisfactory it took 1 hour 20 mins for the food to arrive when asked why we only got a busy from the driver maybe you need to tell your customers when your really busy and at least give them some idea of how long we are Located only 10 mins from town and the food wasn’t up to standards either

We ordered our food at half past seven and it came at 5 past nine , they claimed we put in the wrong address even though we double checked , would not recommend having delivery.

I have used this takeaway weekly on average since 1977. Unfortunately there has been a notice in the window to say that it has ceased trading (September 2024). I'm very disappointed to say the least but I would like to thank Peter and all his staff for the years of serving us with some lovely food. All the best in the future and good luck..... End of an era.

The food was fresh, hot and delivered on time. Thoroughly enjoyed it and am sure we will be ordering from them again! Liked the option to do larger portion sizes too!

100% el mejor lugar para la comida china! Personal encantador y comida deliciosa, he estado yendo aquí desde que era un niño y todavía no he encontrado un lugar que tenga tan buen servicio. Definitivamente es un must try.

Food was very nice, big portions, friendly staff, food was a little bit later than anticipated but when it came, it was still hot and everything was fine so Im very happy to come back

I have been going to this Chinese for years. I’ve tried other takeaways but the food is never as good. It’s always fresh and delicious. Times of delivery given are completely accurate. The lady who takes your order is fantastic and anything you ever need is dealt with. Highly recommend. 5 out of 5 for me. Love your loyal customer of 15 years ❤️
