Chinese Tea in Portsmouth

Food took 2 hours even though said he 1 hour ! We had the munch box when finally received was cold and all over the place had to resort it out . Gave us no freebie or anything even though was a hour late won’t be ordering again

We had chinese tea as a family on Christmas eve and it was the best chinese all 11 of us have had probably ever. The s&s chicken was amazing. Ribs were lush. Everything was lovely. You have made our Christmas eve extra special. Thank you chinese tea xx

2022. Best chinese takeaway in Portsmouth. Mostly get roast pork omelette and chips for a saturday evening treat,and dad has house special curry-superb. And people that serve are fruendly abd polite.

Great food! I always specify no bean sprouts or onions in the chow mein and they always follow my request. Chicken in Peking sauce and chicken in lemon is delicious! I go here often because they never disappoint me.

We got a delicious delivery and it was value for money big portions little price tags. Definitely go there again and recommend it to friends and family

always order my chicken chow. Mein from here I usually have it hot. Last time I had it, there was something unusual about it. It had some black oil chilli bits in it and too much sauce I didn't enjoy it one bit. I called again today to tell them I would like to order and to put fresh sliced Chillies on it, no oil black chilli and not too much sauce she seemed like she understood what I said and said yes thats fine. when I went to collect it the lady shows me my food and says is this the black stuff u was talking about I said yes she goes that's chilly and I said I knew that. She goes u have to tell us next time that u want sliced Chilli.?? Well I did that's why she knew about the black bits I was on about on the phone to??? the service was terrible I told them I didn't want it and it was added anyway and then she gave it to me expecting me to be to eat it . Surely you should correct my request and make Me it the way I like it. If I pay for something I want to enjoy it. customer service is 👎 one the ladies who works there never smiles

Poor quality Chicken Curry.. Curried sauce was congealing before I even finished the meal, so it was probably powderised.

Spot on every time! Food is piping hot and tasty. By far the best Chinese I’ve had in Portsmouth to date and I’ve lived here for 24 years. I generally eat the munchies box out and about with the mrs (which I high recommend as good value for money), of which they provide forks and wet wipes too (not even kfc and McDonald’s can get that right every time even when asked). The staff even give you a call when it’s being dished up. 5*

Fantastic food and delivery service

I had been using the same Chinese Takeaway for the past 20 years, but the last few orders haven't been up to par. So I decided to to google some reviews on them. Only to find that last year they received a 0 from the FSA and the owner was looking at a jail term due to the risk of health he exposed the public to. So tonight I was left with the unenviable task of finding a new Takeaway. Well the Gods were smiling on me tonight!!!!! The meal for my wife and 2 children was nothing short of amazing, so much so that I had to write this review which I have never done before and even has to phone the Takeaway to let them know how good it was. The only reason I gave 5 stars is because 6 is not an option.

We have had plenty of great meals from Chinese Tea. The service is good and timely, there are a large selection of good and flavour-filled dishes. The Kung Po Prawns are especially good. We ordered today (as this place has become our go to Chinese) after trying many in the city and each of the plastic pots was filled to bursting. I go in to collect and was pleased to see they have adapted the shop to be Covid-19 safe, with screens and suitably attired staff in the kitchen. Great food.... and will be most definitely ordering from Chinese Tea again.

Three hour wait till food arrived cold. Usually very good service and food. Little let down by this but when contacted was easily sorted.

Been using this Chinese for 5 years now , last night we had friends from London round & they had a lovely meal they said they wished they could get them to deliver to Brixton as well 😂😁🤣 👍 The pancake rolls are the best , only Chinese that does them as they used to be

This is a most unassuming establishment, basic furnishings but we didn’t go for the furniture! we went for the food and this place did not disappoint, a lovely Chinese cafe. Excellent menu choice full of flavour and generous portions, they offer a good seafood selection too along with what you would expect,the house special chow main with black bean sauce is super and would highly recommend. Prices are reasonable and the service was great they offer a delivery service which we have had and again great service.

We ate here because there weren't many options within walking distance of where we were staying. It was clean and bright (as most Chinese restaurants are and the menu was pretty wide ranging. Service was somewhat disrupted by the fact that this is a take away establishment and when there is only one girl serving, and she spends rather a lot of time on the phone, you can expect to be waiting for a while.

I recently frequented this take away and was presently surprised by it The place was not much to look at from the out side as in you would not even look in there if walking by. The inside is nice not much in the way of decor but if your only dYing you don't need much more. The food was nice and plenty of it the service was efficient but not over powering as you get in some restaurants and take away places. As I said the food was good price as much as the usual Chinese would cost so I would definitely go again

We have been using this Chinese for years now. It has always been amazing. Recently we are in at the restaurant with friends and that as just as enjoyable. We have moved house and pass at least 5 other Chinese food takeaways but we always use Chinese tea. You have to try the Kung po chicken and the satay chicken 😍

Tonight was the third order we made from Chinese Tea, in North End, Portsmouth. The order was placed at 19:06; we were told it would take 1 hour. Our order was not delivered until 20:56..... nearly TWO HOURS to deliver food 1 mile away. This pattern seems to be routine for this takeaway as each of the three orders we have made has followed this routine. I made two calls to the place to complain but got nowhere fast and was advised the place had become busy unexpectedly. My advice..... don’t order unless you planning well ahead and are prepared to wait a bloomin long time. Shan’t be ordering from here again.

I love Chinese Tea takeaway, friendly staff and lovely food. I usually pick up my order but they do deliver. You can sit in to eat and they serve alcohol.

Just got a curry and chicken balls with a curry sauce, the sauce is red and has hardly any flavour, we have eaten from here before and the food has been decent, this time I am very disappointed and I can't see me ordering again for a while, will more than likely have the runs tomorrow if this sauce is anything to go by

The seaweed was horrendous, everything was greasy I would not recommend.

Walked past here a few times now, decided to pop in for some food. It really was quite nice. The food was good, tasted nice and was hot. The girl who served us was very polite and pleasant. It was an all round very nice place to have a meal. If I had one small nit pick, it would be for them to put some background music on, it was very quiet in there, you could literally hear a pin drop, but again, that's just nit picking. It's a very nice place, with very good food and service.

Awesome Chinese restaurant and takeaway

Lovely big bowl of food for little cash. I had satay chicken and noodles and the noodles weren’t too oily which most takeaways seem to do so I was delighted with that. The Satay sauce was thick and tasty. Not a lot of peanut flavour however, but then I like my satay VERY peanuty (so this isn’t really a huge criticism). The sauce had a nice background curry flavour across it and I enjoyed my meal very much. The counter assistant was very friendly and polite. I would use this takeaway again.

Friendly polite staff and amazing food.

We ordered a takeaway at 8.15pm and paid by card. As, by 09.30pm, we had not received our order, we contacted them again. They apologised and told us it would be with us in a quarter of an hour. However we had to contact them again at 10.30pm and were told our order had already been delivered, which we assured them it had not. We begged them to provide us with the food we had paid for and asked them to send the delivery driver round with another member of staff to prove he had not delivered to our address. They turned up with the replacement order and the delivery driver actually stood in front of us and said "Yes, this is where I delivered it". We invited them to step inside to check for the smell of any previous consumption of any Chinese food but they declined. We got our food just under three hours from the time we ordered,and paid for it. It was very delicious but the service was really despicable and for the delivery driver to blatantly lie is just not on.

Slightly disappointed. The house special fried rice was really small grains that were very mushy with tiny little bits of meat and not much flavour. HS chow mein was very similar plus an hour wait. Our search still continues.

I often pop in for dinner after work, sometimes we eat in and sometimes havd a take away. Have never had a bad dish and it's always fresh and delicious. It's not a flash place, but definitely the best Chinese food in Portsmouth - in fact the best I've had outside of Chinatown in London!!

I ordered Singapore rice noodles..was very dry and out of a portion came only three king prawns haha. I had to use nandos sauce to give a sauce boost and taste.

I have eaten there a few times alone and with my kids every time was nice food and friendly staff I will be eating there again

Fantastic eat in Chinese cafe 😆

First time we ordered a takeaway from this Chinese and everything was done efficiently from ordering over the phone to a friendly delivery man at the door. We were told it would be a 45 minute wait but it was less and When they arrived they were hot. All the dishes were large portions and were full of flavour and tasted delicious and were inexpensive. I would definitely recommend it and return again.

Went here late one evening...food was really nice ...fresh and hot. Nice and cheap...basic dinning ..they stayed open late for us which was very nice of them.
