Out of all the dishes we had, maybe 1 was decent. The cheung fan filling of roast pork was tasteless. The fried udon was very dry and saucelss. The beef balls was overcooked. Worst was the scallops dim sum, it had zero scallop in. It had pieces of prawns!!!, I have a food allergy to prawns and they didn't even apologise or offer to replace it. They say "oh lots of our dim sum have prawns in", no mention at all on the menu. The table next to us received cold dim sum and complained to multiple staff. Not authentic this place. The decor is great and looks the part, but the taste lets it down, find elsewhere.

I've been going here for many years. The set banquet menu used to be good value and the quality of the food was excellent. Went a couple of weeks ago and waited an hour to get any food and the dishes on the banquet meals were ridiculously small. However they have increased prices from £20 to £26. Clearly they're cutting back on costs and staff.... End of an era....such a pity but won't be going back

A Culinary Masterpiece at Golden Taste – A True Hidden Gem on London Road, Sheffield If there were ever a restaurant that could transport you straight to the bustling food streets of China through sheer culinary brilliance, it would be Golden Taste on London Road, Sheffield. Tucked away among the city’s diverse dining spots, this unassuming gem delivers an authentic, soul-stirring Chinese dining experience that rivals even the finest establishments in Beijing, Shanghai, or Chengdu. From the moment you step inside, the warm, welcoming atmosphere sets the tone for what will undoubtedly be an unforgettable meal. The staff exude genuine hospitality, ensuring every guest feels like a valued regular, whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth. But while the service is impeccable, it’s the food that truly steals the show. The Best Sweet and Sour Pork in the World? Believe It! Golden Taste’s sweet and sour pork is, without exaggeration, a revelation. Each bite is a perfect balance of crispy, golden-battered pork, coated in a luscious, tangy-sweet sauce that bursts with layers of flavor. The pork is juicy and tender, while the sauce—expertly balanced between the right amount of sweetness and acidity—elevates the dish to perfection. This is not the cloyingly sweet, fluorescent-red version found in lesser establishments; this is the real deal, crafted with skill and authenticity. A Feast for the Senses Beyond the sweet and sour pork, every dish we tried was executed to perfection. - Dumplings: Delicate, handmade pockets of joy, bursting with rich, juicy fillings. Whether steamed or pan-fried, they were absolute perfection—the kind that instantly transports you to a dim sum house in Guangzhou. - Prawns: Fresh, succulent, and cooked to retain their natural sweetness. They were coated in a lightly crisp batter and served with a delectable sauce that complemented without overpowering their delicate taste. - Szechuan Chicken: A spicy, aromatic masterpiece. The heat from the Szechuan peppercorns delivered that addictive, numbing sensation, while the balance of garlic, ginger, and chili created an explosion of flavors. If you love authentic Szechuan cuisine, this dish is a must-try. An Unmissable Dining Experience Golden Taste is more than just a restaurant—it’s a celebration of Chinese cuisine at its finest. Every dish is crafted with precision, passion, and authenticity, making it an absolute must-visit for anyone who appreciates high-quality, flavorful Chinese food. If you’re in Sheffield and have yet to try Golden Taste, do yourself a favor: go now. Whether you're a long-time lover of Chinese food or new to the cuisine, this restaurant will leave you utterly amazed. We came in expecting a good meal; we left convinced we had just experienced one of the best Chinese feasts in the UK. 5 STARS – A Sheffield treasure!

Really disappointing takeaway cost £79 to feed 5 of us and slimy overly wet food eg special fried rice - missing a dish also - no care re presentation in boxes and included battered? fatty barbecue spare ribs - honestly awful ! Will not return - shame as previously had decent takey from there . Maybe chef issues but once bitten twice shy I’m afraid.

I can't comment on Atmosphere as it was a takeaway meal was delivered by their own delivery service. The delivery guy was very friendly and actually arrived about 15 minutes before expected, which was nice. To be honest it did seem a little expensive but once we had the food and saw the size and quality of the portions it was worth it. Everything tasted great and all cooked perfectly. Definitely the best Chinese takeaway I've had for years and very happy to recommend that people give them a try. They have quite an extensive menu so there should be something for everyone. (Definitely recommend the barbecue spare ribs, loads of meat on them, cooked so they are really tender in a lovely sauce!).

Went into the restaurant for a take-away. As I stood at the counter waiting for my order to be taken I was surprised to see a man behind the bar eating what appeared to be a chicken leg and a young boy eating a burger. Got home and the food was dire. Had ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken Hong Kong Style together with Crispy Duck, Egg Fried Rice and a Sweet & Sour Sauce. The Sweet & Sour Chicken was inedible and we had no option but to throw it all in the bin. There was virtually no sauce and the chicken was so overcooked that it was impossible to cut with a knife. The Crispy Duck was really salty and the Sweet & Sour Sauce was grainy and watery with a very strange colour.
