King Palace in Bromley

My neighbours and my husband and I enjoyed a most wonderful evening celebrating a birthday last night. The service food and atmosphere was perfect. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys good quality dining out. Judy Field

I have been coming to King Palace for over 25 years and it never disappoints! The quality of the good is consistently outstanding and in my opinion is far superior to any other Chinese in the area. Try the cashew chili king prawns!!

I’ve not been to the King Palace for close to 5 years, which was when I left Orpington. I was glad to see it still going strong as it was always a pretty reliable place to eat. The food was very good, we went for the set starter for 4. I added a hot and sour soup…….it was exactly that………hot and sour. The mains were also very good with the Singapore Vermicelli Noodles a delight. We washed it all down with 3 bottles of Rose. The bill was a tad on the high side, but that was more about the wine than the food. The telling factor for me is always ‘would I go back’ and the answer is a resounding yes. My only negative was the general noise. Due to the openness of the downstairs sooner or later a large group will be shouting at each other, so maybe some ear plugs next time as a quiet dinner with friends is a big no no!

A real disappointment. Food was average at best, and drinks ridiculously overpriced. A meal for two with a few drinks was £101. Won’t be returning.

The food was really lovely, big portions so much of it, our eyes were bigger than our bellies, they were happy to box it up so we could take it home, Thank you for a lovely evening.

My husband and I went with our family to celebrate our golden wedding.The food was delicious and the service excellent. The 2 vegans and 2 vegetarians were catered for and all ages were happy with the menu. A lovely celebration. I would recommend this restaurant.

Very comfortable pleasant and friendly Chinese restaurant and takeaway. Food is very good and varied. Staff aim to please but don't bother you, and overall a very pleasant experience. Special events are very good too! Highly recommended!! New Year’s Eve is usually very good too!! Well worth a try!!

A group of five we met at the restaurant and started with multiple starters and a little house wine, which was nice. We all love lots of the starters here so much so we rarely have room for a main course. Often though a soup at the end helps round the meal off. The owner and main server are very efficient and very pleasant which adds to experience. This is and will remain one of the best restaurants in The Borough

Food, service and atmosphere greats. The duck was well served and very tasty. The beef was quite spicy even though I did not order the ones that mentioned being spicy at the menu.

Disgusting food. The sweet n sour chicken was absolutely sour with pickles inside it. The chow mein so called bbq ribs and rice were nothing to write home about - all bland and tasteless. The staff refused to refund the sweet n sour but rather just offered to exchange which was no good as we were put off at this point and already frustrated at throwing money away. Still didn’t enjoy. Would never eat from here again or recommend this place to anyone ever. AVOID!!!

What a disgrace! Should have took notice of the "First Review" I read on line. Tasteless, not fresh, gone off food. The so called "OLD"waitress - whom was more "Sour" than their sweet & sour soup was giving us the evil eye. They had the cheek too excuse our tasteless, diabolical meal - saying it's because it was gluten free. If you can't cater for special dietary needs, do not say you can. I wish I had visited my usual restaurant "JOYS "just around the corner where the food is a Delight. Voting with our feet and will never go back.

Worked out that it had been 7 years since our last visit due to me moving away from the town I grew up in. Same friendly, attentive staff and food just as excellent as we all remember. We'll be back and it won't be as long next time 🤗

If you like Chinese then go here for one of their lunchtime special menus. 2 courses plus coffee. Excellent food, loads of it and very reasonably priced. Surprised it's not packed out. Lovely staff. You will return.

I have never eaten here before and I was so impressed! I called the restaurant for advice on allergies. The man I spoke to was extremely polite and helpful and answered all my questions. The food was delicious and the portions were really generous! Overall a faultless meal :) Would definitely recommend and looking forward to eating in at some point. Thank you 😊

So, we have been going to this place for what must be nearly 30 years. The guy that manages it has never really been suited ti the role in my opinion, and visits of late have been worse as a result of him. I am sure people who read this review may not agree with with, but loyalty for me has always been based in an emotional connection. So last night the emotional affection was finally broken - we will be looking for a new favourite Chinese eatery next time. All over £4! What a fool. So we arrived, my wife booked this for my upcoming birthday. we were told we had booked for 4, clearly as there were only to two of us attending, we know how many we booked for. There was only one couple in the place when we arrived, they tried to sit us right next to them, why? Then we ordered the set menu, this was £28 each. There is more than enough profit in this!!! We wanted to swap out one dish for my wife's favourite dish. The manager said we could, but it would cost us an extra two pounds each. We have been most years, up to four times a year and this is where we get our takeaway from too. This guy knows us. I even take the boys there when we met up last time! This spoilt the whole experience. So much so, next time we eat out for Chinese it will not be here. The lady that has been there forever was and is always brilliant, the young lady, was quite frankly awful, bordering on rude. An extra £4? Really. As a result I took the service charge off of the bill. (I gave the waitress a fiver in cash - it was not her fault) By the way, taking the service charge off angered the manager who clearly did not understand why.... well this is why. I suggest to him, watch the video "give me the pickle" Also, this place used to given you some prawn crackers to start, now its a few nuts that my wife cannot eat. They also used to give you an after dinner tipple, and that's gone too. Give me the pickle.... The food was as good as it always is. The portions are smaller than they used to be too though. You've probably lost £300-£400 a year, all over £4. Loyalty lost. PS you never ask if we have allergies.....

First time of visiting certainly won’t be our last. Food was delicious we had kung po prawns sweet and sour pork beef in black bean sauce duck with pineapple special fried rice and noodles. All tasted great. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful food but drink is well expensive

The only thing I could fault was the end of evening fortune cookies. Everything else was just perfect. Food, service, atmosphere and price. We had a house special set menu for two. Plenty to eat, serving timed very well. Will return to try more dishes.

As a regular attendee I do love the starters and often fill myself up on these and rarely reach the main course. If I do there all good here too.

Very good food very well run restaurant with very nice staff would go back again only one thing I did not like was a 10% services charge was added to the bill there is no mention of this on the menu as you no you do not have to pay this so I just left my on tip as I have said everything else was first class

Fantastic place to meet for a business lunch or evening meal. Very professional and the staff are polite and discreet. Mr Chan, their manager, makes you feel very welcome - as a personal touch.

We have been going to this restaurant for about 30 years. The food is amazing and the owners are so lovely and will always amend the menu to your needs. Highly recomend.

We booked a table for 4 on 23rd Dec at 6.30pm. Decent sized table but even though the waiter checked with the chef that I could order a vegetable curry I did not receive it. After waiting over 10 minutes and checking where it was my rice and noodles were stone cold. There was no apology or offer of a drink and the bill was not itemised to check what we had been charged. Drinks are very expensive, £31 for a bottle of Prosecco. Everyone else enjoyed their food, I did not enjoy my dry rice and noodles unfortunately. Shame that jwill not be returning as I've always enjoyed my meals in the past.

Fantastic restaurant with great food and friendly service. Been coming here for years and the food has always been consistently great and we have never had a bad meal. We have been here as a couple but also huge amounts of people for birthdays and celebrations and the owners and staff are some of the most accommodating people we know. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Don’t be put off by the scaffolding in front of the restaurant, I've just had their 2 course lunch and was very impressed. The service was attentive and friendly, the food was delicious and excellent value. It was very quiet on a Wednesday lunchtime but I gather it is very busy in the evening.

Was made to very unwelcome as soon as we walked in. So much so that we didn’t order and left after being seated.

Had an excellent lunch for under £10. Two courses plus coffee. Loads of choice plus loads of food. All beautifully cooked and presented.

Just brilliant service and brilliant food at a reasonable cost. They always are happy to see us and always look after us even though w don’t go all that often.

Had a lovely take away from here. Great food, really enjoyed it all. And great service, as we left the restaurant the bag broke and all of our food landed in a puddle. We brought it back in and they disposed of the wet food and made us a new order in less than 20 mins, no questions asked. Thanks Kings Palace! Some good food and kindness really makes a difference right now

Lovely stuff, well worth a visit. The set menus are really good value with plenty of variety and costing 20 - 25 per head for more than enough food. The staff are friendly and charming, the food is clean and fresh.

My wife and I have only recently reconnected with this place. Just before lockdown, we went for dinner for the first time when stuck, and were really surprised how delicious it was. I do feel regret not trying it sooner! Very recently we have been getting take-a-ways from here regularly. The team are lovely and the food is exactly what you need from a local Chinese restaurant. So happy to be able to reconnect!

If You do not mind paying for low and very poor quality food then I can recommend this place. I can not call it a restaurant because its not. the food is over cooked and if you don't mind the sniffling chief(joke) and delivery driver handling your food it a goer apart from that please stay well away

Spent £50 on a takeaway, no free prawn crackers or anything, tried to take card payment 3 times and was rude and the food tasted burnt will never order again from there Very expensive!

We have just had our first takeaway from king palace in these uncertain times, delivery was a little bit longer than estimated, but understandable. This was the best takeaway we have every had, well done king palace we will return.

Will you ring tear for Chinese New Year. The restaurant was rude and we have booked. Food in general was reasonable. The squid was slightly different From normal. The shredded Duckwas good. Service could’ve been better but overall a reasonable meal. I think there is a better Chinese restaurant just round the corner.

Been here twice already since arriving in London. Love the food and the people. A favourite is the soft shell crab and the very spicy chilli king prawns. The salt and pepper squid is always excellent and the ginger chicken yummy. My whole family enjoy coming here. Give it a try.

Cosy restaurant with attentive and unobtrusive staff. I find their dishes always tasty and well presented.

I recently had the misfortune to dine here. It was not in any way a pleasant experience. The owner greets you with clenched teeth as though she’s doing you a favour serving you, the food is very average. All in all, there are way better places nearby. I will never go back here.

Been to this restaurant yesterday evening for the first time. Services was very good, staff super polite and smile , good is definitely delicious for sure, live this places.. strongly recommend..Order pan fried sliced sirloin in black bean sauce with steam rice, stir fried oyster sauce mushroom, and egg fried rice..

I tried this restaurant for the 1st time last week and the food was lovely my daughter doesnt usually eat noodles or anything but ate more than half my pot and has asked to go today I did notice portions are small so will be asking for large dishes next time I go

Generous portions mean we always order too much, but every dish is so tasty we couldn’t leave anything out. The spicy chilli prawns are marvellous. Service is always very good.

Everyone goes to Mings in Petts Wood, but this is a true gem. The food is absolutely top quality, never disappointed, it's got heritage. The staff are incredibly friendly.

In my opinion it's lost some of its appeal! Food wasn't that great either too salty or too bland! Service wasn't too bad but they didn't have all the food ready on time?

First time here. I had heard a few different opions about the place so I actually got round to trying it out myself on a Saturday evening. I have been coming to this restaurant for decades and it still brings me back. Friendly with a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. The food is very good and the portions generous. The smoked corn chicken and Singapore vermicelli noodle are particularly tasty.

4 of us celebrated New Year’s Eve at the Kings Palace. The food was great and plentiful, the entertainment was extremely good, the service was spot on and the atmosphere was just right. All in all a great evening. I would highly recommend it.

Had a lovely evening and ordered the set menu for approx £22 a head. Lovely staff were attentive and service was very quick. There was lots of variety of food and every dish was delicious with lots to eat.

This restaurant was so nice and welcoming to me and my friends. We booked a table of 5 on a Friday evening and they were really attentive to anything we needed. Food was just as good as the service if not better. I certainly will be returning here.

Picked up a collection tonight and the Chinese was beautiful-the best I’ve had in a long time. It’s easy to feel lazy and wait on the sofa for an average delivery to turn up, but we made the effort to drive out and get it tonight and wow was it worth it. King Palace has always been a good and reliable choice with the crispiest chilli beef around, but I feel the restaurant has really upped its game in the last couple of years. From the choice of containers to the way they pack your food conveniently into starter bag & main bag, so you open everything up in the correct order, they just think about these little details that make the overall result way better than average. Food was faultless this evening - not greasy at all, all fresh and delicious whilst feeling like a Saturday night treat. Keep it up Peter and staff - you’ve really raised the bar!

We were a group of six. Very good Chinese food and service as usual. Not many in the restaurant but it was a Tuesday evening.

Went here for dads 75th birthday. Excellent food, very clean, staff were excellent, nothing was to much trouble.

This Chinese has always had excellent Food but from being a regular customer for years I have seen it go downhill rapidly. Jeff used to run the front of house but has now gone to work in the kithchen. Front of house don't smile and service is slow and grumpy!! Such a shame as much better food here than Xian!!

Been going there for close on 30 years ! Peter the owner has always been the perfect host and his staff always look after you. Not cheap but given the quality of the food is great value

We enjoyed a cracking meal out last week at The King Palace. The food was plentiful and a bill of just over £130 for 5 of us which included drinks was not too bad. The mixed platter to start was really good, and the crispy duck and pancakes first class. The food arrived quickly, but we were given the option to slow down after the starters if we wished. My only negative comment is that when you ask for tap water there is no ice in it and therefore a tad too warm. We've been before and we will go again.

We’ve been eating here for very many years, and we have never had a bad meal. Always our first choice for large family celebrations.

Friendly staff exceptional food can't wait to go back

We have eaten here in the past but haven't in a while, therefore decided to try them again Easter weekend. oh how very rude, we ordered some drinks and a starter, the starter was king prawns 4 of them for about £8.00 not cheap and some spring rolls. the prawns were very dry and not very tasty so we asked if they came with a dipping sauce, the waiter was very abrupt and just pointed to a piece of lemon and said you have that ! any decent waiter would have offered to give us a small saucer of dipping sauce in the name of customer service, instead they just walked away, we decided there and then that we would not give them any more of our money and asked for the bill, when it arrived the drinks were expensive more so than other restaurants in the area, we were also advised that they normally charge a minimum of ten pounds per person but hadn't on this occasion how kind ! instead they wacked a service charge on the bill, which of course we refused to pay. This restaurant and staff have become complacent and are forgetting that we the customers are keeping them open, they are rude and arrogant and we wont be returning, instead we went to our favourite Chinese the other end of the high street, where we always get good service and food , which have polite staff , they gave us a dipping sauce without us having to ask as soon as we sat down, which we found very funny but lovely. KING PALACE , i dont think its king of anything other than rudeness

Visit on the night of star wars release so was expecting a busy environment instead we doubled the customer count. Starters mixed plate was very good so we looked forward to main course, oh what a let down. Left most of our chicken and prawn dishes as poor quality and not tasty. The whole restaurant could do with a makeover as all very dated. I will not be returning any time soon

This restaurant does not disappoint. In 2017 I have come here both with friends for lunch and also taken a party of 16 or so WI ladies there for lunch. Beside the main menu there are two lunchtime deals. One around £8.75 which a single person can have or any number and has a starter of a choice of 3 soups or 2 vegetarian spring roles and then a main course with either rice or noodles from a selection of around 10, including King Prawn. The dishes come separately, so it is easy to share with others. In addition you either can have Chinese tea or coffee included in the price. The other lunch menu is around £10.75 each and is for two's to share. This comprises a range of 7 hot starters, including prawn toast, crispy seaweed, spare ribs and this is then followed by crispy duck and pancakes with trimmings as well as tea, coffee as before. If you have a healthy appetite, then this is the one to go for.

Great food, not particularly expensive & very friendly staff that are good with kids - normally very busy weekend evenings but other times can normally walk in and get a table no problem. Business lunch menu is excellent value & good for a Saturday lunchtime visit!

Probably one of the worst places I've been to for Chinese food. Food was lacklustre and felt like no effort whatsover had gone into making it. The Vietnamese spare ribs were so salty I could actually see salt granules on the dish. We ordered the hot pot aubergine, which had been cut into large chunks and was still half raw and hard, same with the vegetables that came with it. King prawns were pumped with water and tasteless. The Pak choi had an odd taste to it which put me off my meal. The chili pork was just cooked sliced pork added to a sweet and sour shop-bought sauce with a little bit of chilli). Singapore noodles definitely the worst on the high street. Tastes like they'd zapped the flavour out of it somehow. There is only an option of 2(!) bottled beers, carlsberg and tsingstao - large bottle being a rip off £7.70. We had to ask 3 times for tap water which came in a tiny glass. Service was ok and friendly but not enough to bring me back. Plenty of better value options on the high street.
