Jolly Farmer in Wokingham

Yet again very satisfied indeed. Took my work colleague in to get us both a penang curry and show him this is the best thai by far. He was absolutely over the moon and had to but it again to take home for his other half . Staff as friendly as always, I cannot praise this place any more!

Took my sister for a birthday lunch together with my wife. We were greeted as soon as we arrived and found a comfortable spot in the lovely garden. Drinks were brought to our table, and the food was also promptly served. We all chose Thai specials that were very enjoyable. Service was friendly and the atmosphere pleasurable. We look forward to going again

Haven't eaten here since their refurbishment, which has transformed certainly the outside space. Food is reasonably priced and as delicious and as authentic as before. The bottle of real coke however take 3 to fill a pint glass. They are 'tiny' and cost £2.50 each!!! That's £7.50 almost for a pint of coke. This is crazy, extortionate and ruined an otherwise excellent meal and venue. Sort your coke issue out, it's 2024 and no other pub has this rediculous issue present.

It was our 1st visit for us - on my husband's 50th birthday, and what a treat! We just love Thai food, but struggle to find a place that does both Thai and English food - for our sometimes fussy teens. My husband and I had 2 really good curries - no Chilli sign next to them on the menu, but they had a small amount of kick in them I would say. The teens had Pad Thai and they looked very nice. Great service too from a very friendly team. The garden area is beautiful with lots of flowers. We were sat in the spacious gazebo, to give us some shade from the sun. We will definitely be back and I plan to work my way through the Thai menu for sure!

Lovely Thai food - we shared weeping tiger, crispy fish and stir fried chicken, all of which were good. The only negative was the slow service - the restaurant wasn’t busy but I guess with people sat inside, on the terrace and outside it was a large area to cover.

I love the food here, however, having booked on line and had my booking confirmed, we arrived and were told that the kitchen was closed. Not impressed.

Stopped here for lunch with friends. This is a popular country pub with plenty of seating inside and a large garden at the rear. I was attracted by the two course Thai themed lunch menu at 14.95. the chicken satay was OK, but the beef massaman curry was almost inedible- tough (undercooked?) strips of beef and vegetables in a tasty sauce and plentiful rice. Perhaps a bad choice (there was a chicken option)? Other reviews seem more enthusiastic. The service was excellent, though the food quality does not compare with the Moderation in Reading. Revisit? Perhaps.. the sandwiches and chips looked good. Green King Ales.

The Thai food was excellent value, delicious and everybody cleared their plates. The staff and manager were lovely and friendly. If they could develop a system where the right food was delivered to the right person and them paying for it with the right bill in under three hours, this would be a five star review.

We had a family gathering of 22. Venue is lovely, food was excellent as was the service. Beautiful garden area, large play area for children, no climbing frames but they weren't missed. Take a ball they enjoyed playing tag and football with other children . Well worth the visit.

Haven't visited this pub for years as I always found it unwelcoming and badly stocked. Called in as I was aware it is under new ownership and wow what a change. Thai/English cuisine and a great choice of beers and wines. Aaron and his colleagues were friendly, helpful and laughed at my jokes as well as making some of his own. Lovely atmosphere all round with a large rear patio and plenty of tables and chairs under cover. Gather they also have live music as well. Food was served quickly and was very good plus reasonably priced. Glad I went back and will definitely use more often.

Delicious meal, fresh, hot and very very good. Nothing was too much trouble for the young lads who served our party of 6 adults and one toddler. We were made to feel welcome, the owners took time to play with the baby and talk to us. The garden looks amazing. Cannot recommend enough

Amazing gardens - very pretty and inviting. Thai food which is reasonably priced. The outdoor space is lovely with space for a children to run around. This would be a good venue for a family of all ages meal. We will be back again.

Last night (Saturday 5th August) My Wife and I booked a table for a meal We last went about a year ago, but has since been refurbished and under new management We were pleasantly surprised, not only did we have a lovely meal and evening, the staff were all very helpful, efficient and friendly, great beer as well Couldn't fault it, I asked for a hot Jungle curry, which was listed on the menu and I wasn't disappointed it was perfect as was my Wife's sweet & sour dish We'll definitely be going back Thank you all at the Jolly farmer Regards Steve Belcher

Wow, wow, wow! Simply amazing food and very good service! Having visited Dinton Country Park and feeling fairly hungry, my family and I decided to try The Jolly Farmer pub. Now the first thought we had was that a pub does normal pub grub but has an extensive Thai menu also, so really had no idea what to make of the place. When we parked up, the garden area and surroundings are stunning, and the pub is very inviting. We were sat outside in the Bangkok area and having only returned from Thailand and Bali less than a month ago, was hesitant about trying Thai food in a pub once you've had the real authentic food in Thailand. Nevertheless, we all ordered various dishes such as the spring rolls, gyōza, tempura, etc and ordered various Thai curries. The starters were excellent, hot, tasty and the service very quick. This made us look forward to our mains and when they arrived, I was simply blown away! My favourite dish in Thailand was the Massaman Thai curry and my wife got that, whereas I had the Penang Thai curry. Both were simply off the chart and you'd not once think you were in a pub, it was completely authentic Thailand when on our taste buds. I urge you all to go here, I am lost for words on how amazing the Thai curries were! Just amazing!

Lunch with friends to ' celebrate ' two birthdays, local to both couples and frequented often since re-opening after change of ownership a couple of years ago. Pub is improving each time we visit. Service, although good when first opened, is excellent now with great friendly, helpful staff, food is second to none for a Thai meal and the ' pub' menu is also very good. The pub, although quite small, has a fantastic outside area with covered seating and booths for lots of customers, good for when they have 'special' evenings for musical events.

Visited with friends and although we had booked a table they seemed confused as where we could sit. Service was incredible slow. Asked for a jug of water and never received it. Waited 45 minutes for our main course despite being asked after our starters if we were ready for mains. Had to ask twice when it was coming out. 10% service charge added automatically which considering the service received is a bit cheeky. Food was good just need to improve service

My wife and I walked to the pub on Friday evening. We looked at the menu, lots of vegetarian options. I asked the waitress if any were vegan. I was told that there was one starter, veg spring rolls, and two mains. I ordered a tofu pad Thai. The menu said it contained eggs. I asked and was assured that they could make it vegan. The food was delivered with the waiter making a big thing of which was vegan and which was vegetarian. I started to eat my meal only to realise it contained egg. I checked with my wife, a vegetarian, and hers had egg as well. I checked with the waitress and she confirmed it contained egg... "the kitchen had made a mistake". Now I do not eat egg as a lifestyle choice. But being served a non-vegan meal after I had checked and was assured the food would be vegan was very disappointing. But imagine if I had an elegiac reaction to egg. That could have had a significant impact, it could have resulted in a hospital visit or worse. So if you have allergies or dietary requirements be very, very careful.

Decided to walk over to the local pub with my little doggie for supper. DO NOT BOTHER. Service terrible, food, well I left all of it, packet gravy on roast dinner if you can call it that. frozen veg and frozen Yorkshire puds. It was awful.

The pub is now run by a family from Nepal, so there is Nepali and Indian food as well as English pub food. We had a Nepali snack lunch, which was authetic. The service was very helpful and friendly. There is a large garden at the back. There is plenty of parking, once we found the car park. We must try it for an evening meal.

This is the 3rd year running we held our event at 'The Jolly" and once again their welcome was second to none. We were a party of 30 and everyone said how great the food was. I would thoroughly recommend this venue for any occasion. Brilliant!

I booked this restaurant for myself and two friends, as one was celebrating her birthday and it was following a Spa Evening at Nirvana so we wanted something nearby. Our table was booked for 9.30 which is quite late but on arrival were disappointed as there was only one other customer looking at the football. However, we were warmly greeted and were helped to make a choice from the Nepalese menu. I had the chicken biryani with the Raita side which was absolutely delicious. One friend had the lamb biryani with a curry side and my other friend had the chicken noodles., All very nice. We could see there was a lovely garden outside which would be ideal for families and from the menu I could see they do a lovely Sunday roast. We will definitely go back. Just a shame that there weren't more people to share a special night with us. I understand the pub/restaurant was closed for some time by previous owners so the current owner is trying to build up trade. Please go and try it, you won't be disappointed.

The Asian man behind the bar asked what me and my girlfriend wanted to drink after around 10 minutes of waiting for him to get off his mobile phone, then as he asked us we were deciding between each other what we wanted (around 15seconds) he then just walked away went to the other side of the bar and starting serving someone else.

Haven’t been to the Jolly for some time and had been recommended to give it a try by friends so walked the dogs at nearby Dinton and popped in and we both order the roast dinner mine chicken my husband lamb......well we had 2 potatoes that weren’t roasted just boiled with the gravy put over then the chicken wasn’t very tasty but my husband said lamb was good, Yorkshire were not home made and not very nice. Maybe we should of tried something from the Indian or Nepalese menu as I really don’t think the jolly should be doing a roast as it really wasn’t very nice though the veg was lovely.

We had not eaten here before but fancied some Thai food. Booking was easy and pleasant. One word of warning their car park is like a lunar landscape. If it has been raining avoid the puddles you don't know how deep they are.

Popped in, not knowing what to expect. Had a very tasty late lunch. Friendly service. Nice pint. Will definitely take advantage of the large pub garden we discovered there.

We had a lovely family meal here. Good choice of traditional pub food plus Indian and Nepalese food on offer. Kids play area out the back and horses in the neighbouring fields kept little ones entertained. Staff are lovely and couldn’t do more. Prices reasonable too.

We found this hidden gem by searching on google for pubs near our home. The Jolly Farmer was a pleasant surprise. Our server was absolutely amazing and a credit to the team- his name is Shankar and he gave us advise on dishes and what he thought would suit us individually. We were all so happy with our food; it was cooked perfectly. A taste sensation! If you want proper Nepalese food without paying silly prices, I would recommend this pub over and over again.

We popped in for a bite to eat and stayed the whole night. Great food and great company. Even got a game of darts in too! The food was delicious... definitely recommend the sizzler. Couldn’t recommend this place enough.

Well we tried the pub back in the summer the food is green king food English food the owner said to us come back and try the Nepalese food much better so we went back tonight with my family of 6 started with a drink then all had starters and mains all the food was fantastic would 100% go back again all of my family would take there friends there only one problem the time between the starters and mains a bit long but I liked it time to injoy the food and have time to talk thankyou for a great evening and they do takeaway us well come on go and try it don’t let this little gem get away like a lot of pubs
