What a lovely tasty Chinese restaurant! We had to book on a Saturday night as it was packed. The service was excellent, helpful and attentive. Right paced and very helpful. Food was delicious, seriously first class. 5 of us ate the set menu B and it was plenty of food. Cooked to perfection and steaming hot throughout. The starters and duck were delicious, with extra pancakes offered for the duck when we ran out and had plenty of duck left over. The mains came out as they were ready, which gave us time to plate up and eat hot food with every mouthful. Truly delicious, didn’t know this gem existed but will returning time and time again. Meal for 5 people (1 child) with a few alcoholic drinks cost £200, very reasonable for the quality of food and service.

Our usual go to restaurant was closed so we decided to venture out for a similar style eating place that did Gluten Free meals. we chose Chef Peking and were not sorry. The attention to detail was excellent. The food was out of this world. The portions were more than generous (Ended up with a doggy bag). We enjoyed it so much that we left a tip on top of the included service charge. Hope to go again soon.

The shanghai is my local in Wokingham but is closed this weekend, found this place online and gave it a try. Was a little on the expensive side compared to the shanghai. Total bill was £52 but had enough food to feed 3 people with a little to spare. Food was absolutely delicious! We ordered: Chicken satay skewers Crispy beef Sweet n sour chicken Schezuan pork Egg fried rice Chow mein Chips

What an absolutely fantastic restaurant. This has quickly become our favourite restaurant and my son asked us to book it for his 21st. Without asking at the end of the meal the waiters gathered round and sang happy birthday to him and even had a firework type candle in his dessert. They also gave us our first round of drinks on the house! Incredibly nice people, and the food is the best we have had from any Chinese, perfect portions. Highly recommend!

Our first time here after a number of recommendations. Busy car park indicated the advised popularity was spot on, reaffirmed by how rammed the restaurant was - full of jolly noise, birthday ballons in some tables and cakes with sparkling candles on others - clearly a well earnt stamp of tangible popularity indeed. We were promptly shown to our table with a smile and a warm greeting by our lovely host. Drinks orders quickly taken and subsequently delivered. It was if mysticmeg had predicted what we wanted and advised the restauahead of time. Prosecco was delicious and chilled to perfection. Lager head for my guest was a funny shape which only added to the joviality. Food order was equally taken with speed and the Chinese banquet begin the in the same speedy manner. Food was superb but the ribs and japanese grill gyōza do deserve a special mention. Our young lady host was just superb even dealing with my partners dad who always tries to pull a harmless prank.everywhere we go and orders "duck off the hoof" - but our lovely host handled it with a laugh and a smile and a lovely polite verbal clip around the ear for my mature guest - and he loved it too. The surprise cake to celebrate Janet's and Alan's long anniversary was a lovely surprise and when the bill arrived - again promptly and without fuss - the second bottle of prosecco was provided FOC. All in all there is no faulting Chef Peking..service was perfect and speedy, food was delicious and the hosting was just exactly what we wanted - and for the price - well it and the team there are without fault....even offering us doggy bags for the abundance we were served. My only word of advice to new visitors to Cheo Peking is pleae go hungry and with an appetite. I guarantee you will not leave with anything other than a full and content fat belly....we did. Thankyou Chef Peking. A lovely night indeed....even with the extra stone or so we all put on with that delicious food . Thankyou.

Very average, best dish beef chow mein, the rest was very bland. Singapore noodles no level of taste. Lemon chicken very stiff. Rice was below average. I been before been good but now very below par, so disappointed. Won’t be back.

Probably the best Chinese meal I've had. On our annual visit to the area for the golf at Wentworth and visited Chef Peking as a last minute decision - great food, excellent service, and great value for money. Highly recommended, we will certainly visit again when next in the area.

Disgusting Overcooked. Re heated Not fresh Way overpriced. Hardly any meat. Worst Chinese I've ever had. Oh and was sick the next morning and all the chowmein came up. Spent over 50 pound and didn't even get prawn crackers thrown in. Avoid at all costs

I can only assume that the dine in experience and quality of food is far superior to that of the take away offering. In our previous experience the portion sizes have always been on the small side but at least the food was of a reasonable standard which we felt somewhat justified the hefty price tag. Now it seems that the quality of the food has deteriorated, portions remain meagre but the price remains extortionate. £11.80 for not even 10 bites of squid, teamed with a portion of anaemic undercooked oven chips that could not even be salvaged with the basic level £10 Chinese chicken curry slathered on top. Seriously disappointing. Will not be ordering from here again.

Amazing food and such lovely staff. They really look after you.

We attended for dinner last night, having not been there for over 10 years due to relocating outside of the immediate area where the restaurant is located. Upon arrival we immediately asked if we had booked, which we hadn’t, and we were promptly taken to a table. The decor is a simple theme, very effective, clean, and appealing. The service of all the staff can be summarised as friendly and efficient. Our food order was promptly delivered to our table, and was absolutely delicious, we can’t wait to go back again!

Advantage: Good food, good service Disadvantage: dish too small

The goto place if you have a special occasion. Delicious food, helpful folk. Does takeaway too. Updated 20230422. Wonderful people fitted us in at the last minute. Restaurant packed. Food still amazing. Why would you go anywhere else! Updated 2021. First time back in restaurant after Covid. Oh my. Just utterly delish. Such lovely people, such lovely food. Booking essential.

Excellent Chinese food, tasty, great portions and very decent prices

I booked a table of 10 for my husbands 50th birthday celebration and we had such an amazing night! I had already arranged and paid for the food in advance and all of the special requests for our pescatarian friend were accommodated. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was perfect, we weren’t rushed and had a thoroughly wonderful evening. Thank you to all of the staff for taking such great care of us 🤩

The food here was stunning, delicious and hot and fresh, such a good variety too,I love the way they serve the food and i was able to try so many dishes with my table. I would recommend the 'buffet' but it's a table service buffet on a set menu but it's not restrictive or limited. Staff were amazingly helpful, so quick and good fun. I would highly recommend and I will definitely be back. Thank you

Visited here for the first time on a Sunday evening and it was busy so suggest booking in advance. Friendly staff on arrival and during service. Our table was in the gangway nr both the toilets and kitchen so a lot of traffic. On sundays there is an option for all you can eat a la carte (they call it buffet but you just order dishes) or regular a la carte (including set menu options). We did a mix as the all you eat menu seemed limited for the two vegetarians we had in our party. Food was delicious - I normally dine a Keis Peking in Lower Earley and I would say the quality is identical = very good. Drinks wise a pint of coke / lemonade is an insane £5! Bottled beer was cheaper and house wine same price. Will definetly go back to try the banana fritters (seems rare to find them these days) as was too stuffed after starters / duck / mains.

Have not been here for so many years, but had heard it was excellent. Well not disappointed, good service, the food was excellent, very nicely presented, very tasty & not tiny little portions. Did not feel we were being ripped off. Every dish looked appealing the dumpling were the best I have eaten.

The second visit to this restaurant, and we’re still impressed. Some of the best Chinese food we’ve had. Flavour is great, anything fried tastes like the oil is fresh. Food is plentiful without ending the meal either hungry or needing to waste food. Service is attentive. Definitely going to be a go-to restaurant going forward. You can tell it’s well loved by locals.

Food was great and good quality. General Table service was great too. However, on two separate visits I have felt quite offended as a member of staff has come to the table looking reluctant to take a further buffet order as we still had some food on the table which we were still eating. We were dining as a group (all responsible adults). I completely understand and appreciate avoiding any food waste but as a buffet/ordering a la carte, there may be times where people don’t like what they’ve ordered or genuinely cannot finish all the food. Most restaurants should have an understanding of this. Our bill on both occasions was over £150, the ingredients of our dishes would nowhere near have exceeded £50. Long story short, we were made to feel like we were being watched and had to finish everything on each plate which really isn’t a nice feeling, especially when we have been ordering responsibly. I would say we had about 10% of food left on the table at this point. This has really put me off going back again as we felt like we were being told of and did not enjoy the remainder of the meal. If going for a buffet, make sure you are able to finish everything on your table!

Fabulous Valentines dinner. Set menu was delicious. Staff very attentive. Restaurant beautifully decorated for Valentines night. Plenty of food to take home. I have eaten here before although it was my partners first time in the restaurant. We often have takeaways. Highly recommend.

Great food and outstanding service.

Found this restaurant at the end of last year and now I eat either takeaway or dine in at least once a week. I had virtually stopped eating Chinese food because the quality was so poor almost everywhere. This restaurant is impeccable. The service is attentive, highly efficient and friendly. The food is delicious and the prices are fair especially considering the quality. It is difficult to get a table here because it’s so busy, which is testament in itself. I have never been rushed, in fact the staff ask if you need a break or want your next course. You are never left without a drink but you are not constantly harassed. This is an absolute gem which I cannot rate highly enough. There are not enough stars in the rating section for this place!

We had the 2 course buffet, but the dishes are brought to your table. I like that they give you small portions so that you can try more dishes from the menu. It's very good value for money and the waiters were very attentive. They were also knowledgeable about the menu, my friend is allergic to nuts and they were able to tell her which dishes to avoid, but she could eat most of them. Only thing to note is that the food has been adapted to British tastes

Spent this evening at Chef Peking for my daughters birthday for the first time and wasn’t disappointed, crispy aromatic Duck was lovely, prawn toast was delicious, as was lemon chicken and crispy shredded beef, in fact we couldn’t fault any of the dishes we had, we had set menu A and set menu B then added a couple of other dishes . We had excellent service, excellent food, and they went above and beyond for us… Will certainly be returning 5*

Great restaurant, food always good and reasonably priced, but it is the excellent and friendly staff that really make it 5 stars.

Chinese cuisine including Canton and Beijing style. The taste is a bit tuned for local requirements but overall quality is good. Costly and excellent service.

Always get a takeaway from here but 10/10 best Chinese we’ve ever had! We come out of our way for this place and love it every time! Lovely helpful staff, quick cooking and service and always packed 👍

Supported throughout lockdown and now the staff are obtuse and rude. Food is okay, but expensive and certainly not worth a visit unless you enjoy being insulted by the staff. Really poor experience

Booked early dinner and were told we needed to be out within 90mins, which was fine. But staff manager was considerably rude, when spending over £150 we expect a friendly service, not rushed and moody. Felt like we were a nuisance. The chicken… is the worst cut of chicken, tastes rubbery, is it meant to? Prawn dish was nice and the nicest of the meat/fish we had. But there has to be better Chinese restaurants around where the staff welcome you when you spend hard earned money for a celebration dinner. A good service is as important as the food. Shame

Another truly delicious feast. We came to celebrate a family birthday and the meal was top-notch from start to finish. The waiting staff were friendly and obliging - we were very well looked after. Every dish was fantastic - some were ordered again!

We visited here for my wife’s birthday and what a great evening. We opted for a set menu and the food was amazing and so much of it. The staff were amazing, so attentive and always checking if we wanted more drinks, water, sauces, pancakes, they could not have done enough and were so on the ball. Didn’t book but although the restaurant was busy and booked they fitted us in. They happily catered for my partner whom is on a special diet due to surgery. The food was delicious the staff were lovely and the although the restaurant was very busy there was a sense of calmness and not at all noisy .. highly recommend!

I gave this place 5 stars a couple of years ago but there was a bit of an issue this time concerning the 'Eat as Much as you Like on a Sunday' arrangement. May be it would be useful for everyone to be aware before ordering their food. You are firstly asked to choose starters and this is where the problem lies. Our group ordered three or four items and we expected just a few of each baring in mind it was just a starter. They brought a couple of bucket loads of them consisting of spring rolls and other similarly covered 'battered' items. It was completely inappropriate. As there were so many we ate more than we actually wanted but the management were annoyed that we had only eaten half of them and commented about it making us feel uncomfortable – blaming us when it was clearly their unthinking (or deliberate?) fault. Later we wondered whether it was a deliberate act to make us not want the more expensive foods in the main course? It could have been their innocent mistake but just be aware when ordering the starters.

The Sunday Buffet is something we go to as a special treat. The food quality and range of choices are superb, and is always freshly cooked. Fabulous service too.

Read good reviews and they didn't disappoint. Delicious meals and of good quality. Service was impeccable, friendly, on point, quick to clear away unwanted items. Establishment was very clean and clean toilets Parking at the rear was adequate. Would highly recommend and will definitely be coming back.

Amazing place. I've never been in a Chinese restaurant so full at 7pm. So clearly very popular Starters were the best sesame prawn toasts and chicken satay skewers I've ever eaten. Ribs were good too. If you're hungry the portion sizes were very big Main courses were good too but we were so full after the starters 😂 £70+service for two was excellent value Good location has loads of parking A well deserved 9.5/10 Thank you 👍

We had dinner here last night with some friends and the food was amazing. The staff were fantastic and when we told them that one of us had a peanut allergy they couldn't have been more helpful and continually checked with us throughout the evening making sure that everything was ok. The restaurant was absolutely packed which goes to show how good the food and service is.

Went here for a birthday meal for my father in law. There were 4 adults and 2 children. The staff were lovely. Friendly, professional and great with the 2 kids. The food was exceptional 👌 We all agreed that it was the best Chinese food we had ever had. Highly recommended.

Sadly always feel like I’m being ripped off by this restaurant

We've been eager to try this place out and we were lucky enough to get a last minute table. The other reviews are right, the food is absolutely delicious and the service was brilliant - staff are super kind, courteous and attentive, which was really great, we felt so well looked after! I can highly recommend the banquet set menu - it was very generous with 4 courses, some delicious things I'd never tried before and large amounts of food, well worth it in my opinion. Definitely coming back, really impressed and so pleased with this hidden gem.
