Yan Yan in Wokingham

We ordered chicken with lemon and egg fried rice. The chicken was old not fresh, like it was cooked a few days ago and the rice was cold. Will not be going there again. Gone downhill although convenient, will go elsewhere. Also prices gone by £5+

Cash only. Good size portions that were quite tasty. Our fav was the 'duck with Pineapple' there was plenty of duck in the dish.

Definitely do not recommend for fish and chips anymore. Absolutely tasteless fish and the large chips portion would barely cover a small in any other chippie. Chips were underdone and are steak cut chips not normal chip shop chips

Only had a chicken curry and egg fried rice, curry was ok, not sure I'd have it again.

Both the fish and chips and the Chinese menu are always very good. Great food nearby with easy parking outside. This is a cash shop :-)

I love these guys. Been here many times now and they always make me full with really nice food. Get the chicken wings and the salt and pepper fish! The large spring rolls are the biggest you'll ever see too!

Use to be a brilliant chip shop, Increased prices understandable but portions non existent, brought a portion of chips and it couldn’t go between 2 people and asked the team about it and they was rude about it. Such a shame as we use to go to them weekly now we won’t use them ever again

Great take away option in the area. Fell in love with the salt and pepper ribs we had it twice. Vegetable fried rice was good. Salt and pepper said was great as well, very tender. Staff is friendly and cheerful.

Omelette had hair in, beef curry w9as glupp and did not taste nice. Mushroom rice was so oily.yuck! Waste of money.

Possibly the worst Chinese food I have ever experienced. Definitely going for the quantity over quantity approach as there was so much food but such low quality. Weird dishes with random curry sauce. Nasty. Best avoided

I love this place. The staff/owners are so happy and friendly it's really nice to see them. I had the Malaysian nasi goreng and the biggest spring roll I've seen in my life! The owner gave me a chicken wing to try and it was probably the best I've had.... So obviously I had some of them too! So now, the nasi goreng and also the chicken wings have been the best I've tried! Keep it up guys, you're my favourite takeaway!

My son in law got us a takeaway from here the other night and it was amazing 🤩. Generous portion sizes and tasted great and the staff are very friendly. Will be using this place again and again. Super highly recommended.

I went here last night after work and got the Malaysian nasi goreng, the really lovely couple that own the place are so friendly and happy it's amazing to see. The chef (who I think is the owner) was so impressed I wanted his Malaysian nasi goreng he made me his special meat one. It was fantastic! I will definitely be back and just wanted to say thank you and well done to everyone at Yan Yan for being so nice. 😁

New in the area wanted to have a nice Chinese take away. It was the first time ordering and the last time from this place. Never again. Food had to be thrown away, too salty, overcooked prawns and a lot of soya sauce. Extremely disappointed and disgusted about the whole experience. Please, please do not waste your money.

Large portions, poor quality. Chicken balls over cooked and greasy, singapore chow mein has a curry-like sauce on it to make it spicy. Dont know many other places in Reading, but Hong Kong City is waaaay better

This Take Away Restaurant is absolutely FANTASTIC!!!! I can say with honesty that the food is always of excellent quality and the Staff are very friendly. I also think that the portion sizes are Very good value for money. In my humble opinion this is definitely 5*****Star and well worth a visit.

Walked in the restaurant and were greeted by the lady at the counter. There was no dine-in option and a large menu was pasted on the wall. Ordered Green Curry Chicken, Fried Rice, Chicken and Beef Chow Mein, Szechuan Chicken, and Curry Prawns, Friendly service and good prices but the food was just average. I order these dishes regularly and I did not get the flavor that was expected.

Absolutely a place to Avoid. I ordered food to collect which was difficult enough as I didn't understand a word of there terrible English. Upon collection my food was dropped on the floor. They attempted to put the food, which was on the floor back in the Wok. Avoid this place like the Plague.

Woman taking order was abrupt with no desire to discuss the menu on offer. Should have walked away. Instead ordered worst fish & chips i have had in a long while.

Really nice place, I've been going here for a while now. It doubles up as a Chinese takeaway and a chip shop, and both are amazing. The staff are really nice and the service is fast too.

Guy cooking was friendly but the young girl in an Adidas top was fairly rude and grubby looking, wear clean appropriate clothing, chips were awful and seemed to be boiled in fat! Salt and pepper chicken had sugar on and made with the wrong flour weird flavour and too dry curry sauce and mini spring rolls were nice though, need to clean the place up and change the oil more regularly 👍🏼

Have ordered a takeaway a couple of times. Although the portions are big the quality isn't always there.

lovely food and charming staff - my new favourite Chinese!

Strange year and times, thought we would support locally and get a treat for Saturday night. Chinese was chosen and we trotted to Yan Yan. So extremely disappointing! Special fried rice was chicken with a little pork thrown in and at first glance looked like brown rice but discovered it had been refried with a huge amount if soy. Pork chow main was also the same colour, salty and rewarmed. Sweet and Sour chicken balls looked inviting however on deconstructing found the chicken had been rolled in salt before being battered. Pancake roll was so greasy it took quite a few minutes to drain away but there was still a lot of oil oozing out when bitten into. Sadly threw it away and wont be hurrying back ever. Try somewhere else ot get a M&S takeout, you'll enjoy it more. Saturday night and Sunday both experienced stomach aches and generally feeling grotty.

Unlike other Chinese takeaways, Yan Yan's food doesn't aggravate my husband's migraines. We are glad we have this as our local Chinese.

It's a matter of taste! Great if you like a good old fashioned Chinese Takeaway that's a bit on the greasy and salty side (which is very tasty if you like it that way).

Did not meet expectations at all, ordered 4 dishes none of them good, even rice isn’t tasty, very oily and smell in the building wasn’t nice in the first place. Not recommended and definitely not coming back.

Ordered fish and chips with mushy peas for 2 adults and 2 children. Was hoping it would meet expectations, but sadly it didn't. Staff were friendly when I ordered, but food fell short of our hopes. Large cod were in fact the size of small portions I've had at any other chippy, chips tasted mildly of prawn crackers and were soggy, and the mushy peas were minted, which was just odd! Sorry to say it didn't float our boat, won't be ordering from here again. Also, useful to know (but not a complaint) they don't take cards, but there is a cash machine outside the shop next door.

Enjoyed my Chinese from Yan Yan, pork balls were the size of giant scotch eggs and the satay chicken started was the size of a main. All in all my one person Chinese lasted me for 4 meals.

Fantastic food, We had the set menu for 2 and it was great quality. There was enough to have left overs for the next day as well. Seems like a nice family business and the service was excellent when i collected my food.

I am a Hong Konger and Yan Yan do very delicious asian food. Proper Chinese wok flavour, very yummy! Their food is very fresh and full of flavour. Especially their beef pad Thai (a very popular Chinese dish) they cook it very well! We tried more than 10 dish and every single one are delicious for my british in law and my husband! They said BEST Chinese take away they had! Very lovely boss and staff too!

For a takeaway Chinese, you will not better this, friendly people, excellently cooked food, really tasty and plenty of it and great value. I only found this by chance a few months ago, but a worthy find, knock sp[ots of the other local Chinese takeaways. don't just believe me, just try it. Lino Len BTW I'm of there now as its made my mouth water.

While an extensive menu it doesn’t list much variety in vegetarian dishes, however, my friend asked if they could do something with tofu which wasn’t listed, but they were more than happy to do so! They very kindly made us something off menu, and were very helpful with advice on dishes and even amending some others to be vegetarian friendly especially for us. Was quite pleasantly surprised at how accommodating they were considering my previous experience at other Chinese restaurants, helps it being a village community takeaway I think. Even gave us some free spring rolls :) for someone who rarely eats Chinese, this was a very pleasant experience, thanks to some very friendly and helpful people and very tasty too. Thank you :)

I used this chinese instead of normal one and wish I hadn't bothered the chow mien was stodgy the pork in the special fried rice was fat and the prawn and chicken balls were full of grease my advice DON'T ORDER

“the best one of the area” Lower Earley lacks a brilliant Chinese I usually end up here if I am on way home from work and fancy a quick fix the food is excellent!!!
