Golden Dragon in Suffolk Coastal

Have been going to Golden Dragon for years now. Have tried multiple chinese restaurants in Felixstowe and Ipswich and none has come close to what Golden Dragon provides. The service is good, the food is always hot and good, in around 10 years I have never been disappointed and will travel to go there. Recommend.

Had a take away from here as was staying in the area. It was really good. Big portions and super tasty!

Yet again, the Golden Dragon was indeed 24 carat. Bought several dishes yesterday (Fathers' day) for my family guests and once more the food didn't disappoint. My "kids" and Grandson loved the meal as l knew they would. I don't use any other Chinese Takeway, for good reason. Thank you Golden Dragon... keep it good. We had; 1 x10 and 1x5 sweet n sour chicken balls Beef in black pepper sauce 2 x special fried rice 1x egg fried rice Pork chow mein Prawn crackers (included).

Always a friendly face when I pop in and food is lovely, fresh and quick to be served. Really quick to reply when I forgot the prawn crackers and ran them out to me at home as my son loves dipping them in my sweet and sour sauce. Always look forward to the chicken chow mein the following morning...

We have left it for over a month thinking it would get better but no it’s still dry and inedible used to be lovely not sure what has happened recently but certainly not as good as it was

This is my favorite.. I love the food here. I live in Felixstowe from 2014-2017 . I tried them all , but eventually only went to golden dragon twice a week . Today I came back to Felixstowe for first time since 2017 , ordered my usual , special curry , egg fried rice n half portion of chicken balls . It was fine dining . Great to catch-up with Ben and his family who have made Golden dragon the best Chinese in my life . xXXBjuudifullXXx

Half crispy duck n pancakes never had anything so disgusting in my life cucumber didn't taste right duck cold complete waste of money avoid

Tonight, we ordered over the phone to be delivered. One meal was missing. When we called them,they admitted that we ordered the missing meal, but it hadn't gone onto their system so,if we wanted it, we would have to pay £6.50. Let's just say that we won't use this place again.

Very strange layout. Had to order and wait in the porch. Prawn crackers were oily. Noodles were very bland. Chicken balls were OK.

I'm new to Felixstowe and not familiar with any asian takeaways here. Google reviews said Golden Dragon was the best chinese. Tonight I ordered for the first time to see if this could potentially be my regular asian takeaway. They picked up the phone quickly which was great - no waiting time although its peak time on a Saturday evening. The lady I spoke to was professional - repeated my order and address to ensure accuracy. Their home delivery service (only for £1 extra) was fast and effective, all the food were hot and fresh, I was extremely impressed. Paid the delivery driver cash, he was also very friendly and professional, cant fault the service. Food was delicious and gave good portion sizes, excellent value for money. Quality of food and service were top notch, I would fully recommend. Turns out the Google reviews were right - this is a very good chinese! I'll know where to order from now on. Thank you! My order: - Won ton soup £4 - Malaysian chili chicken £6.50 - Crispy duck with lemon sauce £7 - Special with malaysian satay sauce £7 - Kung po pork £6.50

The best crispy chilli beef I have had in a long time! The chicken satay was not to my liking but I would still definitely recommend this takeaway. Very friendly service.

Food was horrible. Paid £23 for chicken chow mein, chips, curry sauce, egg fried rice and chicken balls. The rice was VILE it was stale and had a funky taste. The chow mein tasted like pure ginger. And the curry sauce tastes fruity. NEVER ORDERING HERE AGAIN HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU AVOID never been so disappointed with any take away in Felixstowe atall.

Phone order and had to repeat order 3 times. Egg fried rice without egg plus peas, curry sauce and chips. Got home to find I had a boiled rice, orange tasteless curry sauce and disgusting chips. What a total waste of money. Reviews said" best chinese in Felixstowe"? Wth

Had a takeaway meal from here and if I am honest it was probably the worst Chinese I have ever had. The rice was watery and stodgy. And all the meals were tasteless. Halfway through the meal my wife and I gave up and threw takeaway in the bin. We will never go there again and waste our money. Absolutely terrible.

The worst Chinese I have ever had, First the special house curry was meat in gravy with no taste whatsoever LEMON CHICKEN was ORANGE chips must have been cooked 3 times Inedible.will not order again

Was not the first time we order from the Golden Dragon , and we always order the same dishes . This time wasn't pleasant and we didn't enjoy our dinner . We found that every single dish was not tasting as always use to taste . If you increase your price you should keep your standard. Unfortunately I am not sure if we are going to order again because this time left a bad impression on us .

Food was good but marked down as they only take cash ( fortunately I had enough on me) and if you go to order in person be aware they don’t let customers in but have plastic screens up at the door and you have to wait in the doorway or outside. We were visiting and as it’s just around the corner didn’t think it was worth having it delivered.

Firstly I am ashamed it has taken me this long to write a review for this place ! After living in Felixstowe now for three years after moving from Ipswich, this is by far the best Chinese out there. The food always comes hot, always a good portion not just a load of veg but full of meat. The sauces are just perfect full of flavour and not just sweet or salty, always take the order efficiently then read it back to you to ensure it’s correct. They have never ever let us down, the food is always consistent, always good portions and always a great service. I never want to stop eating even when I’m so full I just keep picking because it’s delicious. As I say the best Chinese in Felixstowe and Ipswich probably Suffolk. Thank you guys - Brandon road 😊 😉

Really tasty very well cooked and value for money good portions I will definitely will use again kids loved it in my eyes the best Chinese food I've had in ages are order was.. Pork chow mein Singapore chow mein King prawn chow mein Cantonese ribs Egg fried rice Cantonese sweet and sour chicken ALL was cooked very well not greacy meat was tender absolute pleasure to eat. So much so even when full I couldn't stop so niceeee 😉

Just to update....Tried again at this takeaway. Really really poor. Chips were clearly reheated. Pancake rolls tasted 'off'. A total waste of £27. Used them against my better judgement but thought I would give them a chance. Threw most of my dinner in the bin. It was our 25th wedding celebration meal. Totally ruined. DO NOT USE THEM go to China Cottage. I would have gone there but Golden Dragon was only one open. The absolute WORST take away I have ever experienced. Spent £29 .... value £2.50. Arrived very warm and that is being generous. Seemed like everything was reheated from earlier which had just been sitting around. Pork and Chicken balls were totally inedible. Chewy and overcooked as well as cold! Fried bean shoots were just cool slop. My wife's curry was less than poor. and only warm. Chips were reheated and cool. Rice also only warm. The only good part were the prawn crackers. NEVER NEVER use this Chinese. I think they could definately improve with lessons on cooking from China Cottage. All our meal went in the bin! My wife had just come out of hospital and we were looking forward to this meal to celebrate here being clear on cancer.

Excellent delivery to Suffolk Yacht Harbour, to our boat…very efficient and delicious when restaurants are shut on Sun pm! Highly recommended for visiting yachts

Four of us ordered a takeaway from this place last night. Twas all cold on arrival so we binned it. I then phoned the restaurant to complain and was asked to take all the food out the bin and send it back; really? The woman I spoke to hung up on me twice because my complaint seemed to be irrelevant. I asked to speak to the manager and was assured he would call me back; still waiting for that call.

We ordered food for four last night; food was cold! On phoning to complain the person hung up on me, twice! To get a refund I was supposed to take the food out the bin and return it. Despite being assured the manager would call me back I am still waiting for the call.

Everything was orange?? The curry sauce, the special fried rice and the foo yung - all orange.... how? Why? It was just plain weird and not very nice. The mixed hors d'oeuvres and the soup were ok.. Otherwise no!

We order from Golden Dragon regularly. Never again. Ordered what we know to be good from here - sweet and sour prawn Hong Kong style, egg rice, curry sauce and crackers. Everything good except the prawns - an extremely pervasive taste and smell of burnt plastic. Confirmed by my partner. I rang them to let them know but they didn't believe me - they said they spoke to the kitchen and it is fine. Wow. Ten years of loyalty out the window. We won't order from them again and we won't be singing their praises to family and friends. I have the rank food back in the container to post / give back to them. They will only need to smell it to realise the strong, chemically, burnt wax smell.

Food lovely, staff friendly. But why do most of the Chinese restaurants in Felixstowe only accept CASH payment. Dark ages lol. I have not found one in Felixstowe online that excepts card payment and delivers.

Food was hot and lovely. Went for collection and still have in place covid restrictions. And had 5* rating for last 3 yrs.

Just had the worse Chinese ever, curry was a yellow totally tasteless affair, other dishes as bad, seen so many good reviews so maybe it was a one off but we definitely will not be going back, on top of that it's 10% + more expensive then any other Chinese in town, only went there as the Magic wok was closed

Chiken was a bit dried and the crispy beef I couldn't eat at all. It was not beef was just crispy fat or something else. The only good thing is that the spring roll were not full of oil like the other Chinese takeaway but it was a bit dried specially the duck one.

First of all the bald delivery guy needs to fix his attitude. Secondly the lady who takes orders needs to understand customer’s needs/orders carefully without loosing her patience. Food was delicious so 5 stars ⭐️ for the chef.

Me and my partner ordered a couple of different things from the menu and looking online, the food looked good and most of the reviews were positive. The only good thing about this restaurant was the portion sizes and politeness. When we got our food home the chicken curry was so cold that it had to go into the microwave for over 2 minutes just to feel like it was cooked, and even after that, it was so bland, no flavour at all, mostly onions and peas, the chicken was absolutely awful. The chicken balls were nice sizes not massive like you get at other places but they were very greasy, chips were greasy, rice was so so dry, we were really hoping for a nice meal and have been extremely let down by this place. Will definitely not be using again.

We wanted a Chinese meal during our time in Felixstowe and after a look around decided to try the Golden Dragon. Ordering was easy over the phone and the food was ready in 10 minutes. The Kung Po Chicken is terrific and the S&S Chicken Balls were excellent too. All round a good place with great portions. We will definitely use them again when in the area.

Have been using Golden Dragon for years as a family treat and the food is always high standard and very tasty. Staff are friendly and helpful wouldn’t use any other takeaway for Chinese food.

Not what i was expecting. Special fried ride like never seen before, no egg no peas nothing like special fried rice. Horrible sweet and sour sauce full of coloured red dye. Wondering if they would eat what they serve as Chinese food?! Disappointed. Best on reviews in Felixstowe probably due to portions, not quality or flavour.

I have ordered many dishes during the past few years, and never been disappointed. Really tastes like home-made chinese food. I've recently turned vegetarian and was quite sad I wouldn't be able to enjoy mi goreng anymore, but was pleasantly surprised that I was able to order it in a vegetarian version. Absolutely over the moon. Only wish they add it to the menu, so I could simpy say a number during ordering 😋 Alex

For the last 3 months my work colleagues and I have used Golden Dragon for our once a month treat, it's always a fairly large order and they've been spot on everytime. Nothing was missing, food was delicious and piping hot,never had to wait long for delivery, absolutely brilliant, I recommend them to anyone. 10/10 :)

Not bad food, first time we called was for a party we were having with family and lost out on a £100+ order due to not taking card and pretty much that was the end on the phone. Stopped there after work one night and had a few dishes. Absolutely nothing special but I don't think you would order it and be unhappy, it's just nothing special compared to the choice in Ipswich. Prefer it to the same dishes I had at China city for a comparison which again was average but nice enough.

I have been using this place for about 10 years now and have always enjoyed the food that's served up. Home delivery for a small fee is well worth it and even though they suggest "maybe 40 minutes" when ordering just like last night it came in about 15 mins.Well recommended ! Be aware that it's cash only from here.

Eaten here quite regularly and always a good meal. You pay a small fee for delivery but worth it, always quick. Food hot and tasty. Top quality staff and food. Well worth it.

Very extensive menu but some of the dishes soups and mains were far too sweet for us. ie: chicken and sweet corn soup does not need extra sweetening.

Excellent food, always fresh and very tasty! They are very careful (and happy!) to cater for gluten free & dairy free (but be sure to speak to them if you have allergies, as some dishes on their menu might not list all ingredients, but several dishes can be adapted as they're cooked to order). Always friendly service, even when they're busy, which is most of the time!!

I'm from out of town and was looking for a Chinese takeaway close to my hotel (Premier Inn). From the reviews I was a little confused as to whether this was a takeaway or restaurant - it is a takeaway.I already knew what I wanted to order before entering but the menu selection looked pretty good, I ordered the Singapore Style Vermicelli, this was cooked differently than I am used to but they were delicious with a nice spice from the red chillies. Also had some vegetarian spring rolls, these are the mini spring rolls and you get 8 per service, also very good.Will probably visit again when I am in town, would recommend.

Probably ordered too early and we are sure these chicken balls had been recooked since lunch time. They were uneatable - we eat a few and threw the rest away - very disappointed as we had had some nice food from here earlier. The lesson is - don't order food too early

We have tried a few Chinese take aways in Felixstow and Ipswich since moving here from Kent all have been poor/average this is by far the best so far, we had a friend up from London and we all agreed this a good take away, dishes were very tasty not greasy at all enjoyed everything. Will be back. NOTE only takes cash though.

My wife and daughter and I had a take away from here last week. The food was quite tasty but in the house special chow main didn't have very much meat in it. But what meat there was was tasty.

Ordered a takeaway on the phone, being advised it would be ready after 10 minutes...and it was! The food was really tasty with copious quantities and represented good value.

For some reason this Chinese takeaway always puts pineapple in satay. As I'm allergic to pineapple I requested it be left out so was disappointed to find my dish had a small amount of satay sauce, a few pieces of cucumber and 12 chunks of pineapple.

Ordered a takeaway from the Golden Dragon on a Saturday night. Was told would be an hour to be delivered. After an hour no sign. Rang up, and told one hour 15 mins, because of ‘emergencies’ - can’t imagine what a Chinese takeaway emergency could be, and would I like to cancel? Cancelling would have left us with no food, so not an option, said no please could we still have our food. Offered us a free drink which was nice. Food turned up half an hour later, minus one dish, and half the dishes quite cold. The Golden Dragon took £5 off as well as the free bottle of Pepsi. This restaurant is rated the best Chinese in Felixstowe on TripAdvisor! We were pleased with money off and drink, however the food quality was poor and not hot on arrival. Not a good experience not a good Chinese takeaway.
