Lovely chap took our order on the phone, food was excellent and very good value. I am not keen on sauces with meals, so they were very happy to oblige and did not make me feel as though I was being fussy. Thank you Choys 🤗

We didn't get to order from this takeaway. We called to ask about delivery charges and the surly person on the phone said we don't do delivery, my husband said Oh your on line information says you do, she said well we don't. End of conversation then my husband said.

We had 4 different dishes. The meat was tender and tasty. The vegetables were so fresh and colourful. And the sauces were delicious. Good value for money. Food ready to collect when they said it would be.

Food in this place is really good. It is really popular so be prepared to wait a while. Had the set menu for one and it was well varied and delicious.

Extensive menu of good quality tasty food. Can be pretty popular, so have to ring back more than once to have phone answered for order. Always been on time with food estimations and staff very friendly even when spinning several plates.

Well it's a while ago now but I ring up for a takeaway meal every Friday night and pick it up for 10 minutes past 8 after I pick my wife up from work as it's only me that's eaten I have a Chefs Special with fried rice there's roast pork chicken with bean spouts water cheastnuts and fried rice it's making my mouth water as I'm writing this roll on next Friday comes highly recommended not to be missed Frank Bovey Tracey Devon

Choys is amazing its always been amazing. Really popular, good quality, fresh and hot.But if you go inn to order they ignore you and answer the phone sometimes two or three times which means when they finally finish on the phone they then take your order meaning you are two or three tickets behind so you wait in the shop for thirty to forty minutes while the phone orders get theirs first! So big tip phone your order in or go to chudleigh!

Great food definitely worth the hour wait top drawer, and reasonably priced too and what a stunning area to be too

Spent an adyllic week in Widdecombe with two very special ladies. By Thursday, thought we would try the local Chinese. Trying to find the menu was a mine field but we persevered and got it off Facebook. Have not written a review in a long while BUT had to for this was a real trip down memory lane for eating Chinese for me. So nice with proper pieces of meat, I had the special chow mein and just thoroughly enjoyed it. One of the best in a long while. The rest was just as delicious especially the king prawn balls with sweet and sour sauce. The list was large, and we ate like Kings for two days and even have food for a third between the three of us. Whenever in Bovey Tracey, if you want a couple of days off or even three of not cooking, and like Chinese you cannot go wrong in ordering from these people.

This Chinese takeaway serves really great food. It’s often rammed with people as the quality is so good. Best to ring in your order. Try the chefs special chow mien it’s the best!

Had Chinese from here last night whilst staying at Finlake Holiday Park, lovely food and still hot after the short drive. Also good size portions in the plastic containers. I would definitely use again.

Good takeaway food at a reasonable price. Singapore chow mien was very nice. Will go again when in the area.

We called up and pre ordered take away and were happy with our food and the customer service. The lady behind the counter was very polite and double checked that everything was in our bag. The only thing I would say is that the duck in plum sauce was a bit watery for us, would have liked it to be a bit thicker/ stickier. However, everything else was beautiful and our food was ready to collect on time! :)

Gong Xi Fa Cai! I love this as local Chinese and thank you for the kind service very quick and happy to make it low MSG and more spicy as needed.

This is our local chinese takeaway and we have never had a bad meal. The food is always tasty and hot, with plenty of choice on the menu. We are only down the road from the shop but it is seriously worth a car journey.

I ha've found our meals from choys of bovey well cooked and very enjoyable.they have always been ready on time and are reasonably priced. I will continue to use them indefinately for our takeaway food.

I love a good Chinese take away a nice chow mein and a crispy sprung roll packed with yummys this wasn't that. it was flavouress disgusting pile of crap and the spring roll was full of chunks of tinned ham TINNED HAM what's that about so gross anyway all my food went in the bin I wouldnt ever eat there again if I lived in the area and highly DON'T reccomend it

Choys of Bovey, the establishment that does not have a Website or a menu on line but take phone orders. Looked alright when arriving as there were people queuing. The staff seemed pleasant enough but I'm sorry to say the food is not all that and well over priced, we tried quite a few dishes Sesame Prawn Toast (find the Prawn), Seaweed, Ribs, Special Fried Rice (not all that Special), Chow Mien, Lemon Chicken, Crispy Chilli Beef (that was not all that crispy), etc; The food was gloopy, stodgy and flavourless, just a generic Chinese that is we'll over priced and that do not even take Debit or Credit Cards, in other words cash only, they even charge you for Prawn Crackers after spending £82.

really enjoy a take away from Choys always well cooked and tasty, good value, but I do wish it was also a restaurant where one could eat in, it would make a change from the many restaurants round here serving English food.

I have enjoyed 4-5 takeaways from here so far when I'm in bovey staying at my partners. Each time the food has been cooked to a very good standard, really tasty and good price. No complaints at all. Would recommend without hesitation.

Our favourite takeaway when staying in Bovey. Always dither about what takeaway we are going to have but always awlays plump for Choys. Always friendly and food always spot on.

Outdated. Bland, tasteless and overpriced food and the service wasn't impressive either. I'm surprised it hasn't closed down. It's a real shame that it is so disappointing.

Love the lamb and duck and service is friendly and speedy. Happy to order there every once in a while although quality isn't amazing .

I don't normally do these reviews, but this was great. The best Chinese takeaway I've had for a long long time. Quality food, tasty and well above your average Chinese.

Realmente disfrutamos de la comida de aquí. Luz alta eran las costillas en salsa encantador cantonesa, incluso mi esposa comimos algunos y eso nunca sucede. normalmente

Nos alojamos en la zona durante el fin de semana y decidió llevar de Choys. No nos decepcionó. En el menú y todo muy claramente a lo que cada uno observó que contenía. e. Sin Gluten/cacahuetes/crustáceos etc. decidimos tomar el costillas en Salsa cantonesa como lateral y fueron fantásticos - grande, con un montón de carne y una salsa de preciosa. Nos volveremos a pedir desde allí la próxima vez que estemos en la zona que seguro.

Como siempre tuvimos una comida fabulosa, tuvimos una gran variedad de platos diferentes, todos cocinados a la perfección.

Very good Chinese takeaway only problem they don't do delivery but for me this is OK as there is a pub next door and you can tell them what time you want it for, brilliant.

Use Choys every time we are in Bovey and always enjoy our food. I usually have Spicy Udon Noodles which you can't get at many Chinese takeways. Plenty of spice and mixed meats and veg. Their pancake rolls are also very good, well stuffed with beansprouts, veg and shredded pork and prawns etc. Once my order was misplaced but they apologised and gave me a bag of prawn crackers as recompence, so no problem. Would recommend and will continue to visit when in the area.

I phoned to placed our order and was told there was a 40 min wait for food which was fine. went to collect food 50 minutes later, paid the rather rude staff member who seemed more interested in her paper and then was told it still wasn't ready. waited a further 15 minutes before the food was ready. when i got the food home (living 3 minutes away) the curries were cold (not just warm but completely cold) tried calling the takeaway to complain but the phone was permanently engaged so after already waiting for this food for more than an hour we heated the curries up in the microwave and wont be visiting again!

Had another take away for 6 last week. Even my mum who lives in Cornwall insist on eating from here when sh visits Bovey-best Chinese she says, don't take her word for it!

Choy's is the best Chinese takeaway restaurant I've ever been to. While buying from this restaurant in the past, I have spoken to people who have driven over 6 miles to buy a meal there! They offer a large selection of meals, but I have to say the Duck Udon is a favourite of mine, and I've never been disappointed with it, though the amount of meat does vary on occasion. One con is that their prawn crackers have a bit of a weird aftertaste - but that's just my opinion, and the rest of my family love them.

Moved back to Bovey Tracey and had several take always over Christmas and New Year, all good. Love the House Special, duck and Mushrooms and Chicken and Cashews. Only downside is they don't give free prawn crackers!Would highly recommend

I would usually give this take away a good 4 stars, however we had a meal from there last Sunday (05/07) it was cold, over cooked, the noodles were slimy, I had very little chicken in my Chow Mein, the chips were hard, cold and obviously re heated. My husband had Duck with Pineapple, there must if been a tin of pineapple and the Duck was just lumps of hard over cooked meat. Please Choys pull your socks up, we will try you again but if the same happens, we will have to go elsewhere.

Ok its nothing special but if you want to eat outside of the 7pm-9pm slots which occurs in pretty much all of the restaurants in Bovey then Choys do a good range, reasonably priced. Their opening hours do seem to fluctuate so keep an eye on the time and it is cash only!

Choys is very good and they work hard to keep the hungry masses of their village and surrounding areas happy. Again as with the other take away in this village, very prompt service, beautifully cooked and so flavoursome . Good value and one of the best chinese take always in Devon.Do not miss out try it.

I love Choys of Bovey for the best chinese food in the area, authentically Hong Kong style with their Aromatic Duck some of the nicest I've tried. I'm happy to be a regular customer and the food is consistently good, tasty, hot and not too greasy.Service has always been prompt and orders phoned in are always ready on time for collection. I'm happy to recommend Choys!

Have used Choys for some time and always enjoyed , however, have stopped now as it has gone down hill with bland tasteless food, real shame
