The best restaurants serving British food in West Wales

Chips were average. Few nice crispy ones, a lot of greasy mushy ones. Cod bites disgusting. Dry, rubbery grey/brown ‘cod’. Chicken nuggets, slimy and cheap. Very expensive for this standard of food. Absolute waste of money

One of the worst places to come for customers service me and my partner when in for breakfast today the lady that served us was very very rude when I asked for something and they didn't have it but it was still on the menu she answered with a very snatchy tone I DONT HAVE THAT so we said OK and changed it and while we where looking at the menu she was huffing and puffing as if we where taking to long to choose something else and we finally ordered and went to our seat and then she brought the hot drinks over and more or less throw them at the table didn't even let the kitchen staff know our table number the girl that come out with our food was walking round everyone with our food would not recommend even knowing the food was really nice will not be back

More staff here than customers most evenings,seems to be full of gambling addicts who spend all evening playing fruit machines and smoking outside.

Had a wonderful evening here for our anniversary the food and drink was gorgeous would highly recommend. We will certainly go back again.

I used to come here a lot many years ago. Saturday night used to be bouncing. I rang and reserved a table and was very surprised it was nearly empty. The staff were friendly but a simple meal took an hour to arrive. It was ok but nothing special. We went for a desert that thankfully came out quicker than the mains , again nothing special. By the time we left at 9.25 we were the last to leave. What’s happened? Absolutely no atmosphere. Food ok with average prices. We could hear the noisy bar where the language wasn’t good. Yet the restaurant is very nicely decorated so I’m not sure what audience they are now trying to attract as many years ago it was the place to go for food. Disappointed.

Dirty bar.Sticky tables. No Chopstix outlet. Fierce speedbumps.

Last two times, batter so thick, it was uncooked inside, so couldn't eat the fish. Such a waste!

Freshly prepared fish and chips, piping hot and presented well. Quick and efficient service. We will be back :)

Only had a coffee. Place was empty. Hope the refurbishment will bring the crowds back

Went to the middlegate cafe today with my partner. Had a lovely meal, freshly cooked. The owner was very friendly and we had a nice chat with him. Will call again next time we visit. Thank you.

I’d like to make a complaint regarding the overall management of this establishment. When I first arrived, I was impressed by the warm decor and friendly atmosphere. The food was excellent, and the rest of the staff were lovely, making the start of my visit very enjoyable. However, my experience was marred by a staff member who appeared to be in a managerial role and seemed to be the one “wearing the pants” around the place. She spoke disrespectfully to her colleagues, disrupting the positive environment. Additionally, she had a noticeable smell of smoke, which detracted from the overall ambiance. Upon reading some of the manager’s responses to other feedback, it’s clear that she is very defensive when it comes to criticism. You don’t just speak to people in such a degrading manner and move on with your day. Some of her responses contained hurtful remarks, and I hope she has taken the time to apologize for them. Despite the great food and wonderful staff, this experience left me disappointed with the management standards of the establishment.

After ordering, we waited 50 minutes for the food to come out. It was very disappointing. The burgers were £14 each and very basic. The fish goujons basket meal stated that it came with 4 goujons but we only had 2. With drinks we paid £75 for 5 of us and it wasn’t worth it. We’d have been better off going to McDonald’s.

As a local I can truly say it's gone to the dogs Ordered Sweet and sour pork ball Half rice half chips And a pancake roll (lrg springroll) Well the spring rolls was dripping in fat so greasy it actually went through a doubled up piece kitchen roll and all you coukd taste was fat Then sweet and sour pork balls omg the only thing edible was the sauce but No pineapple, no peppers, no onion all it was was greasy pork balls that actually which are so chewy and a red sauce Chips and rice chips was soggy and rice I expected to be normal plain rice was greasy egg fried rice The worst Chinese I've ever had I will not return Since the old owners have gone these people appear to have destroyed a great Chinese Also do not expect free prawn crackers they give you a Popadom I kid you not Really bad don't waste your money

We went to McDonald’s for a quick grab of a cheeseburger and chips that they ran out of so they suggested a Big Mac .. this was disgusting , flabby, old lettuce , the whole thing fell apart .. I had to throw it away .. we asked for coffee and it wasn’t until we were back on the road that we discovered it was a warm hot chocolate.. slow service .. never again
